Is Sharia creeping into Georgia schools?
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHICUcDWf24
I really find this story unbelievable. I used to live in Marietta, Georgia…which is in Cobb County. It’s a VERY RED county….in a solidly RED state so this just goes to show that public education today is run by the same type of people everywhere….liberals.
Why would middle schoolers need to be taught about polygamy? Maybe a brief explanation about it when discussing different cultures but this material presents it as the best thing since indoor plumbing and goes on to expound on the virtues of wearing a burqa (abuyahs). It’s all presented as an innocent letter written by a 20 year old Saudi Arabian girl….
(an excerpt from the material):
“My name is Ahlima and I live in Saudi Arabia. … Perhaps two differences Westerners would notice are that women here do not drive cars and they wear abuyah. An abuyah is a loose-fitting black cloth that covers a woman from head to toe. I like wearing the abuyah since it is very comfortable, and I am protected from blowing sand. … I have seen pictures of women in the West and find their dress to be horribly immodest. … Women in the West do not have the protection of the Sharia as we do here. If our marriage has problems, my husband can take another wife rather than divorce me, and I would still be cared for. … I feel very fortunate that we have the Sharia”
Wait….did she say that if their marriage has problems then her husband can take another wife rather than divorce her? What happened to “a girl can be anything she wants to be whether she’s married or not.” ? Don’t parents teach their daughters that they shouldn’t need to rely on a man to support them?
WHERE ARE THE WOMEN’S LIBBERS?
WHERE’S THE ACLU SCREAMING ABOUT RELIGION IN SCHOOLS?
Ms. Ahlima neglects to point out that she will be beaten if she dares to speak to another man that’s not a relative and will probably be decapitated if she ever tries to leave her husband.
If I were a parent of a child in this school, I would be livid! You can bet that my child would march back into school the next day and let this teacher know exactly what our family thinks about Sharia…in no uncertain terms.
I’m not saying that children shouldn’t learn about Middle Eastern culture but there are ways to present it that are more appropriate. This material is not appropriate. Sharia law should never be presented positively. I think we should let the Georgia state superintendent of schools know how we feel about teaching children that polygamy is a good thing. I think he should reconsider the curriculum because you can bet that Christianity isn’t presented this in depth or with a positive spin.

This homework assignment intends to teach our children one thing…
Islam and Sharia are good….America and the West are bad.
I’ll get off my soapbox now.

I hate to break it to you, but this is country-wide, not just in Georgia. My 6th grader came home with this garbage several years ago (we live in Massachusetts). Fortunately, a bunch of us enraged parents got together and spoke to the teacher. She agreed with us, but was "required" to present it. So, we presented the facts about islam and sharia to the class with a nice little packet of pictures of honor killing victims, acid-disfigured women, female genital mutilation procedures, etc. To the best of my knowledge, that lesson is no longer provided.
Parents, the schools will try to sneak this into the curriculum. You willl not even know about it unless you specifically ask your children if they are being taught about islam. Prepare them with the facts before middle school, so they don't believe this propaganda!
Oh, I know my child will talk with me (we ask him a lot what he is learning, which my parents never did).
He said one day, completely out of the blue: Obama shouldn't be re-elected.We asked him why he was saying that? He said: we get newsweek in class, and it talked about how Obama isn't nice to Israel, and that's where the jews live, and we like israel, so I don't like Obama. I was a little stunned (critical thinking! from a 9YO! that was GREAT).
I didn't want him to just parrot what we say. That's not critical thinking. That's how many things are taught these days, but it's horrible…we want our kids to have their own opinions…and we are surrounded (not as much as people think, but we are) by very blue people…and so I want him to be able to think for himself…I was very proud.
If you live in Georgia, don't delay. Call your local educators and double down on keeping Sharia out of your schools.
No problem with teaching about what is worn. I have a great deal of problem when this teaching is presented in the manner that it is: first person point of view and with a persuasive style. It is also excluding all of the other facts such as the beating, the need for the woman to walk behind the husband, and the rules applied to a woman's associations with other men. This is creeping sharia. I would be incensed, and I would demand that they change this NOW!
At the very least, they should allow a compare – contrast with western culture, and specifically to Judeo-Christian western culture. This would be education, rather than indoctrination. Instead, any mention of Christianity or Judaism and how both influence law and society today is met with scorn and censorship.
Like so much propaganda that is presented to our children under the guise of "education" this is obviously intended to be persuasive and completely leaves out all of the negative aspects of Islam. As a Cobb County resident and TAXPAYER, even though I don't have kids in the schools, you can be sure I will be contacting the Superintendent of Schools about this! One of the Assistant Superintendents is a neighbor, so that will be my first call.
Here is the movie all kids should see.

Remember, liberals [and liberal theologians] hate the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob just like muslims. This is why both groups are frequently on the same side of an issue.
Tweeted this…this is IMPORTANT! Thanks, kevin for bringing this to light!
I read this article over the weekend and was appalled. Then, I noticed this companion article over on American Thinker and it really made me think about all that we are being asked to accept as a society. I appreciate the parents who went in and gave the other perspective, and I think this has to continue. Here's the article from AT:

Education in public shools is getting out of control. Then the teachers wonder why "hone schooling" is the way that a lot of parents are going. Personally, I would like more world history being taught and I hate to say this but my father mentioned when I was in school that there were no social sciences taught. To my Dad, that meant etiquette, socially approved values and the like. I tried to tell him that Social Sciences did not mean what he implied. Thankfully, he and my mother provided the social sciences that he was talking about. I remember that when I started dating I had a problem with how people buttered their roll at a restaurant (thank you Daddy), but we have become a country of heathens.
Students have no clue about the history of other countries and God forbid that you ask them about them. Education has become very insular and only what is politically correct.
Here's a story about where Sharia Law ultimately leads, a story that perhaps should be shared with the Georgia State School Superintendent. A Christian pastor in Iran faces execution, possibly as soon as tomorrow, for refusing to renounce his Christian faith. The Iranian court's decision in this case is illegal according to international law as well as Iranian law, but the clerics (fierce defenders of Sharia Law) have been urging the court to insist that, even though this pastor has never been a Muslim, he must renounce his Christian faith to avoid execution, because his practicing his Christian faith is against Sharia Law. This pastor previously had protested against a new rule in Iranian schools under which children must read the Koran. There is no separation of church and state under Sharia Law. There is no freedom under Sharia Law. Sharia dictates what an individual can and cannot do, both in public and in private. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/09/28/iranian-p…
