Is Now the Time For You to Cancel Your Cable and Stop Newspaper Delivery?

Posted on October 4, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Gold Team - Creativity

I’d like to give a nudge today to everyone out there to do something that I did back in 2009 and have never regretted since:  cancel your cable TV service and stop your newspaper delivery.

If enough people did this, it would decimate the Democrats’ most powerful propaganda tools:  the Comcast-owned networks of NBC and MSNBC, CNN, and the other dinosaur media outlets that comprise the Left’s Ministry of Truth (Minitrue, for short) that serves Barack Obama with cultish devotion.

Since you can’t just cancel MSNBC and NBC or CNN, you’ll need to cancel your cable TV service altogether. This would be quite a life adjustment for a lot of people, so if it’s something you need to think about and consult other affected family members about then please do that.  But just having the conversation about making this change is a step in the right direction.  Let me tell you that three years ago when I did this I didn’t think I could live without cable TV. I grew up in inner city Cleveland in the 80s and 90s when cable service wasn’t even offered to anyone living downtown…you could only get it out in the suburbs.  Whenever we’d visit relatives in the ‘burbs I’d greedily soak up as much MTV or Nickelodeon as I could and would marvel at all the movies and other things on what seemed like unlimited channels.  This was, of course, before the Internet, streaming movies, and all the other ways to access content in the year 2012.  Back in Cleveland in those days, I just had my books, VHS cassettes we owned, and whatever the six channels that were available via broadcast antenna decided to show.

Cable came to downtown Cleveland around the same time I went away to college and I paid for Comcast subscriptions in every apartment I ever had as an adult from that point forward…until 2009 when my good friend Abbey back in Ohio asked me if I wanted to do something life-changing with her.  Abbey is a dynamo and every once in a while sets out to eliminate something caustic from her life…and she set about removing TV as an influencer because she didn’t like some of the bad habits her little son Remy was picking up from what she called “the idiot box”.  This all came to a head when lil’ Remy saw someone smack another person on TV and call that person a bad word and then later Remy did the same thing to Abbey…and she decided she had about all she was going to take of this.

Her call to me asked if I wanted to join her in this and see if I could do it too, because together the two of us were always trying to think of new ways to save time and money and balance household budgets.  In 2009 I was single and working a lot of crazy hours as a freelancer and consultant in Chicago and was rarely home, so I sat down and calculated what I was spending on TV at home and it was outrageous considering the amount of time I actually watched it.  I had stopped watching MSNBC and CNN completely during the 2008 elections because they were clearly part of Minitrue…but had also stopped watching FOX, too, because while it’s much less skewed to the Left than the other “news networks”, it still has a lot of pro-Democrat bias to it (honestly…sit and watch it…and you’ll see this if you look for it; FOX is not the enemy of the Left that Minitrue always claims it is).

For a while after cutting the cable, I missed networks like BRAVO and LOGO and the stupid stuff I used to watch whenever I was home.  The first three weeks after canceling Comcast I felt strange and lost.  It was like when I had to give up all caffeine for a while because it interfered with a prescription I needed for some health issues…and my body rebelled against losing this thing it was used to.  I remember it being so dead quiet in the house because the “idiot boxes” that I had in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom were all dead, dusty surfaces now.  That was remedied by dragging those TVs one by one down to a local electronics store that bought them off me.  The timing was great because this was around when I would have needed special gizmos to convert these older sets into the new digital receivers or whatever that had just come out that year.  I never had to bother with any of that since I sold the sets and netted a couple hundred bucks for unloading the dead weight.

In the years since I unhooked from cable, I’ve actually managed to see everything I want by just being a little creative and using the Internet as my sole content-provider. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything, and I certainly don’t miss the old $160/month cable bill.  This is how Justin and I watch everything that matters to us without cable TV:

* Hulu.com — subscription is $8/month and it has most of the TV shows I like to watch and would have been recording on TIVO back when I had a TV

* Netflix.com — online subscription is $8/month and replaces the need to flip through channels watching movies that might be on

* Amazon Instant Video — has movies for $3 each (sometimes just $1 on weekends!) that have just come out on DVD…which is like renting a movie back when there were video stores.  We probably watch between one to three movies like this a month instead of going to movie theaters (something Justin never liked to do and I have to admit I am not comfortable doing in a big city like Chicago since the Dark Knight Rises shootings)

* EW.com and TelevisionWithoutPity.com — for the rare instances where something is on a network like HBO that doesn’t release content to Amazon Instant Video the next day after it airs, I just read the recap of the episode online and get the gist of what happened.  This applies to shows like True Blood that don’t come on Amazon until a year after they aired on HBO, right before the new season starts in the summer.  Dexter on Showtime is like this too.  Honestly, though, reading the recaps is enough for me because it’s like reading a book and then next year the “movie” comes out and I can see it acted out on the screen.  I need to keep up with a lot of shows because I feel pressure to know what’s happening in pop culture…and reading a recap takes me about 15 minutes instead of an hour to watch something.

* TheMovieSpoiler.com — this is a great site that posts spoilers of all the movies out in theaters. Usually, they have write-ups the day something opens.  I read what happens in all the movies that come out but now almost never go to see any in actual theaters.  The only time that Justin and I will go to a show is if I snag free tickets through my friends in marketing here in Chicago or if I win them in some of the little contests I always see on entertainment sites and enter.  This way I know what happens in the movies months before they come out on Netflix or Amazon streaming.

* Free TV Project — be careful with this one, but it’s the last resort effort if I REALLY need to see something immediately and can’t find it anywhere else and it’s something I am not satisfied just reading a recap for.  This is a site that has links to various streams where you can watch something like True Blood almost as soon as it airs.  The only thing is, you should never use it with a PC.  I think this is where I’ve caught some viruses on PCs…but it works fine with a Mac.  You just look up the show you want and then try to find a reliable stream to watch the episode online. I very rarely do this since I’m afraid of ruining my computer…but it is there as a last resort if I feel like I will just go nuts if I can’t see something important that was on HBO and I don’t want to wait a year to watch it when it comes out on Amazon streaming.

I honestly see no need for a newspaper subscription because I get all my news online.  Occasionally, the Chicago Tribune gets delivered to us for some reason and will pile up on our doorstep when someone in the building moves out or an address is read wrong by a paperboy and suddenly the newspaper is there in the morning.  Justin and I look at these things like they are messages in bottles flung at us from far into the past.  They are gross to touch and leave sticky ink on my hands and the propaganda in them is so strong I can’t read more than a few articles into them without laughing at the North Korea/Saddam’s Iraq depths that Minitrue sinks in trying to rewrite history and current events to best suit Democrats.

Honestly, if you are paying to have lies delivered to your door every morning please stop it.  Let the Left subsidize their own propaganda and don’t contribute to it.  I’d love to see all daily papers go out of business coast to coast and would enjoy the irony that the party who supposedly worships our environment is the one that wastes forests of trees every year churning out rank propaganda that’s flopped onto people’s doorsteps.

I know getting a newspaper every day is a generational thing and that people 40 and older have made this a part of their lives for decades.  But, cable TV was a big part of my life too…and I saw quickly that I was able to live without it.  I am so happy I followed Abbey’s lead and cut the cable…and love that I saved a small fortune these last three years (which has really come in handy paying for the servers and other costs of running this site).  In a way, the money I would have spent helping to fund the Left’s Ministry of Truth ended up going into efforts here at HillBuzz where I try to counter that propaganda on a daily basis…which was a better use for that cash in my life.

I’m sure you can find better uses for what you spend on cable TV and newspapers in your own lives, too.  Canceling your magazine subscriptions is smart as well.  Unless it’s a reliably conservative publication that provides no propaganda service to you, just stop paying for it.  I’m someone who happens to love Vanity Fair even though it’s degenerated into nonstop Leftist propaganda but I refuse to pay for it anymore…so I just go to the library near the end of the month and spend an afternoon there reading the issues I would have had delivered to me.  Since I skip anything that’s pro-Obama or Minitrue-approved, it doesn’t take long to read the articles I really enjoy.  A lot of them are available for free online too.

Please think about the little, hidden ways you help Democrats every day by funding the things that help keep them in power.  MSNBC is actually very close to financial collapse right now and many newspapers are about to go under.  A nice nudge by conservatives who are sick of Minitrue shoving Democrats’ talking points at us via these corrupt, vintage media outlets could decimate large numbers of the propagandists the Left depends on to win the culture wars in this country.  For instance, just imagine if everyone who considers themselves a Tea Party American would just cancel their cable and newspaper subscriptions and instead follow news via reliable online conservative outlets.  It would be Doomsday for Minitrue in a matter of months.

Think about it.

Talk about it with your families.

Sit down and be amazed by your annual savings if you really did decide to cut your cable TV and eliminate newspaper delivery.

And if you do so, please tell the person you speak with to do this WHY you are canceling.  Tell them that you got sick of the Ministry of Truth pumping out nonstop pro-Obama and pro-Democrat propaganda and you decided enough was enough.

They will get the message, trust me.

But since Minitrue has lost all credibility with most people I think it will have already been too late.

**********************************

PS:  If you know of other ways that people can see shows they want to watch if they don’t have TV, please chime in below in comments with those.  I know there are other options besides Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, etc. but I’ve never used those and would like to know how you see things online without a cable subscription.

    Way ahead of ya Kevin.

I got rid of my TV years ago and when the St.Louis Post Dispatch called up to see if I’d be interested in a subscription,I told them exactly why I wouldn’t subscribe.

Their leftist agenda driven news articles aren’t worth my time.

I’d also like to add if you get a Roku, you don’t need (but still can) use a computer. For older people that like the convenience of sitting on the couch with your tv and using a remote you can use all those services up there :) Just need an internet connection alone and that’s way cheaper than cable. Plus no more cable bill!! My husband and I have been without tv for two years and do not miss it at all.

If you get Amazon prime roughly 80 a year, a lot of video content is free plus you get free two day shipping on all Amazon distributed products.

Plus you still have Kevin, Drudge, and Google for news!

While I would really not condone this, YouTube often has episodes of all the major shows floating about in its videos… without the approval of the companies behind them. I would only do this as a way of seeing short clips or whatnot to decide if I was going to buy the whole thing/if I was interested in the series, but it’d be less virus-prone than Free TV Project or whatnot.

(Myself, I just don’t watch TV. It means I miss out on what people are talking about with the latest cool show, but I don’t particularly mind.)

We did this two years ago. We bought a nice outdoor antenna for $46.00 and are getting 21 channels. Our Library has over 4000 DVD’s for long weekends. Hint on Amazon I get a lot of small shipments so I upgraded to two day shipping year for $80, and now we get tons of the movies for free on Amazon Plus.

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now is the time to cancel all of that!

AARP, if applicable, is also something to cancel now!!!!!

“Wall Street Journal, 21SEP12, Kimberley A. Strassel:

“Thanks to just-released emails from the House Energy and Commerce Committee, we now know that

AARP worked through 2009-2010 as an extension of a Democratic White House,

toiling daily to pass a health bill that slashes $716 Billion from Medicare, strips seniors of choice, and sets the stage for rationing…the ‘nonpartisan membership organization’ chose to serve the president’s agenda.”

I receive AARP stuff all the time and I’m only in my early 40′s. I have no idea why they send me stuff, I would never use them anyways. I’d look into that other service that Beck talks about.

I live in an area where the local government has granted Comcast a monopoly for cable service. Sadly, I’m a sports “junkie” so I subscribed to DirectTV for my service instead of giving Comcast/NBC/MSNBC any extra money.

Yes, I know they’ll get some payment from the satellite provider, but hopefully not as much as Comcast would generate.

As soon as Seattle/King County WA gets a competing cable internet service, I’ll be one of the first to dump Comcast.

      KG -

Both of those shows are available on Amazon Instant Video for $1.99 an episode the day after they air on cable.

You can buy a season pass to both..and Amazon emails you to let you know the new episode is ready to watch.

I think each season would be like $18 or so…so for under $40 you’d get both seasons of the shows you like and would save a fortune on cable.

If someone in your house has a game system, you can get most of these shows that way, too. I keep up with Breaking Bad through the Zune app on my husband’s Xbox. We also have Netflix and Hulu on there, so cable is totally unnecessary. We canceled ours in 2007 and haven’t missed it at all! You can do it!

The newspaper was never something that our family really got into… just the one with the local events and pictures to see if we knew anyone who was in trouble or who was doing something fun. We don’t have a subscription.

Satellite is going to have to stay in my house though, at least for the time being. As I don’t pay that bill, I would lose that fight. If we ever go down to one income, I may try again. After all, paying for a couple season’s worth of shows that you like is still less than some people’s cable/satellite bills for a month.

I did not own a TV from the time I left for college up until a few years ago (for about 20 years); then my husband decided he wanted one. I’m perfectly happy living without a TV myself, and if I’m here by myself, never even think to turn it on. Although there are a few shows I like to watch these days (“NCIS” and “Person of Interest”) I can definitely live without them. All the same, we don’t pay a dime for anything. We have “rabbit ears” and get what we get when we can get it.

I used to really get a kick out people’s responses when I’d tell them I didn’t have a TV. They would invariably say, “You don’t have a TV? What do you DO?” Like I was so stupid that I couldn’t entertain myself!!! I’m a vocal kinda gal–not to mention a sarcastic one–so you can imagine that my takedown wasn’t too congenial.

And I haven’t bought a paper in eons! I get my news off the Internet and find that I can stay informed quite well.

Another great online option if you like Asian entertainment is dramafever.com. You can sign up for free and only have to watch a few commercials during the shows or get a subscription (very inexpensive) and no commercials.

I have been a huge Korean drama fan for 7 years – this site has hundreds of Korean dramas with great English subtitles, as well as kpop music shows, etc. They have also expanded their offerings to include Chinese, Taiwanese and Filipino dramas as well – but their biggest chunk of content so far is Korean.

They have many great dramas from previous years, as well as running some dramas at the same time they are running in Korea.

No, I am not Korean, but I just love my kdrama! Ok, I admit it. I love the eye candy factor of the male actors and the women actresses’ clothes and designer bags. Shhhh. Don’t tell!

But the stories are awesome too ;-) They tend to be more conservative than American TV, without the sex and nudity so generally work harder on creating an engrossing storyline instead of pulling you in with those other things.

Some great ones … Palace, Boys Over Flowers, Wish Upon A Star, Stairway to Heaven, Wonderful Life, Yi San, My Lovely Samsoon, Coffee Prince, Secret Garden, 49 Days, Dream High, You’re Beautiful … and of course, Winter Sonata – the kdrama that started the Korean wave, or Hallyu, in asian countries and here. Enjoy!

We canceled our local rag in 2004, and I haven’t missed it at all — every once in a great while I’ll buy a Sunday paper and groan my way through it, as I’m reminded why I don’t miss it.

Cable — yes, cut the cable at the end of 2009, and currently use a combination of Netflix ($8/mo) and Amazon Prime videos ($6.58/mo; they have thousands of movies and TV episodes which are included) — having these two combined ($14.58/mo) is still only about 1/4 of what we were paying for basic cable, and we have a much better selection, plus NO commercials!

Boycotts never work. This isn’t a boycott.

It’s a life change in terms of where you put your money…if you are giving your money to the Left via these (literal in this case) channels.

Good for you for not having any of those things. Encourage others you know to cut their cables too.

It is an adjustment…but after a while it just feels so good to not have these things in your life and to not be sending money each month to Minitrue.

This won’t work for everyone, but my parents have DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket which gives you the option of watching the games online (I believe this is possible with their other sports packages). My brother is away at college and my folks gave him permission to use their account to log onto DirecTV’s website and watch the Sunday games on his computer. If you have Sunday Ticket, you also have the option of watching it online. So, if you have family who are willing to let you use their Sunday Ticket online account, that’s an option. You can also get the Sunday Night game for free on NBC.com.

Barring that, go hang out at Applebee’s or a sports’ bar and watch the game. They let you stay as long as you order a drink or appetizers.

If you work out at a gym, you can save money by cutting your cable at home. Gyms have TVs. You can watch cable there for free with your membership. You just won’t have TV at home.

Gyms in Chicago are open 24 hours a day M-Friday and then on weekends are open from 8am – 9pm or so. That might not work for football fans but a lot of stuff can be watched for free at the gym.

Roku carries MLB, NBA and some other sports channels.

We’re not sports people either, but you might want to check out what they have to offer.

I have a handful of shows that I like to watch and I can get them using the iTunes season pass. That way, I don’t support the shows/channels I hate, my money only goes to the shows I like and those episodes are mine to keep. And if someone tells me “You really should watch [insert favorite show here], I think you’d like it,” I borrow it from the library and find out if I really do like it. And if I REALLY like something, I’ll buy it on DVD and watch it over and over. But most of my TV viewing is free stuff on Hulu and borrowing DVDs from the library. Or I forgo TV and just read books (I have TONS of books).

I admit, I miss watching some of the sports (football and such), but the commentators on most sporting events have become so unwatchable that it’s not worth it (the only sports commentators that even have a semblance of a clue of what they’re talking about are on Fox. NBC’s Sunday Night Football is a complete and utter joke). I can get local sports on the radio and I’m find with that. I have more fun watching sports with my family anyway and that’s a treat that I save for when I go home to visit.

Basically, if I can’t get it for free online or at the library, I do without. Only if it’s something I really, really, REALLY like do I spend the money on it for myself. I can’t afford to do otherwise.

Kevin, I just stumbled onto your site tonight, and really enjoy the content and your BTR show! I canceled my cable last year, and never looked back! I’m saving money, but also, there are so many options available online now. I listen to talk radio for live entertainment and catch the video clips online of the best TV moments–so I don’t feel I am missing out! My hubby and I are huge Breaking Bad fans so I bought them on Amazon and we watch the episodes the day after they air for a fraction of what we paid for cable. Also, there is a great sense of empowerment to know that I am not throwing money away to support an industry that is trying to propagandize its customers. So glad to find your site…I bookmarked it! I’ll be back! ;-)

Don’t forget The Blaze TV. It’s 9.99 a month and even Rhambo admitted that Beck was on the cutting edge of TV. You’ll learn more from one of his broadcasts (that air every day at 5 and on demand) than an entire year of any cable news — including FOX. He’s the sole owner. He says whatever he wants.

We have Dish and have had for many years. I was about to cancel it when Obama got his own channel last election season. If you made a mistake in punching in the correct number, it would default to Obama. It was disgusting, but it went off at the end of election day and we had bigger problems than that.

I did go to The Blaze and was pleasantly surprised so far. No screeching Liberals to talk over the person making a point. For that I am or will be a devoted fan. Apparently we are on the plan that gets it all the time. It’s such a difference from Fox and I do like the difference for now. Other than that I do not watch cable news or local news. After the internet, these shows are so lacking.

We canceled cable two years ago. We haven’t missed it at all. I love that our kids aren’t exposed to all the advertising. When we happen to watch something live – we’re horrified by how wealthy people are portrayed to be. All the homes and cars in TV commercials are way out of range for middle class Americans. It’s honestly shocking how bad TV can make you feel about yourself. Better just not to watch it. Plus – we find our kids don’t ask for nearly as many toys – they don’t even know what the hot toys are!

It is stunning how in your face the commercials are — when our kids are at their grandparents house (which does have cable), I remain thankful that they aren’t exposed to that junk regularly.

Brit mentioned Roku. It is the best investment ever for cheap entertainment. I bought the top of the line on sale for $90. I only pay Netflix $8 a month. I can see the latest movies and all of the Columbu, Monk, etc. without commercials! If you want to see the football games go to firstrowsports.eu. They have European and USA football. This includes college and pro. You can also go to ESPN3 on Saturdays.
Those bassturds at Direct tv can sucjbck my nut. Until they initiate alacarte programming, kiss it.
Thanks Kevin for shouting this out. Why sponsor people who hate our guts. 3 years sober of satellite. Yeah!

We cancelled Florida Today a couple of years ago. At first we got a lot of phone calls suggesting there must be some mistake because informed people could never not want a newspaper delivering daily stories. I didn’t miss telling them that there was no mistake and the only reason I missed it was the coupons and funnies that were printed between the leftist versions of the news. Those calls have stopped now, God, I miss them.

Incidently the comic writers are mostly conservative, I guess that proves, Leftists don’t have a sense of humor.

Somehow though, we now receive a little bundle (free) on Sunday morning that has the comics, and some of those leaflets of advertiser coupons, so I guess one of those salespeople listened to me.

I’ve been thinking about dropping the TV part of my Comcast TV-internet-VOIP phone. But that still leaves me with Comcast for internet & phone. I work from home and have to have internet & phone. Are there any options in a city where Comcast has an exclusive deal with the city? And their internet service is more than fast enough for streaming. Don’t really want to switch to Verizon, which only has DSL available here.

Cutting out the cable is enough to hurt them.

The cable TV revenues is what fuels MSNBC and the other networks. If you cut the cable, you hurt MSNBC.

Internet and phone revenue don’t contribute to payments to MSNBC from Comcast.

At last, I can say I was on the cutting edge ahead of Kevin & other Hillbuzzers. I have been cable-free since June 2002 and loving it. I second what others have said about how great Netflix & Roku are.

I work in a service business that takes me into people’s homes every business day. I almost never see a newspaper in a house whose resident isn’t over 55 or watching MSNBC.

You can also go directly to the networks from your computer if you want to watch your favorite series. Fox (Bones, Fringe), ABC, NBC, CBS, Usanetwork (Psych, White Collar, Covert Affairs), SYF (Eureka, Warehouse 13), PBS and sometimes even BBC has some episodes.
The first season of the new Sherlock is on Netflix and I highly recommend it.

VUDU is good if you want to rent movies from your tv and it sometimes has movies that are not on Amazon Prime. Only problem is that VUDU movies are only good for 24 hours.

The dirty little secret in the cable industry is that people are canceling service in ever increasing numbers. The last number I heard was over 5 million had canceled their cable. With web content is growing every day cable has become a luxury it’s easy to live without. We were paying $29 a month for basic cable and Comcast wanted to raise that. So we cut the cable. My wife discovered most of her antiques shows are either rebroadcast on the web or on youtube. I love old movies and local broadcast tv now has two channels devoted to them.
I recommend getting a good outdoor digital tv antenna. Buy it on Amazon so it’s 100% returnable. Every antenna has it’s own “personality”. It took three tries before we found one that worked for us. The antenna doubled the number of channels we get. I’m 23 miles from downtown Chicago and get 61 stations about a third are spanish or christian. I picked up an old EyeTV box and wired it up my mac mini. The new outdoor digital antenna and EyeTV box cost less than 3 months of basic cable. The EyeTV even works with the mini as a DVR. I’m hoping that as more people cancel cable better programing will show up on the orphan UHF channels. After two years I can say we really don’t miss cable and we have saved over $600!

    Hi Kevin,
I agree with you on this, more and more each day the news media is increasingly becoming this huge propagandist machine, it’s hard to know what is really truth anymore. I’ve been thinking of doing this for sometime now, I wanted to point out something else as a mother. Your friend was right about the negative effects that TV can have on kids. As a mother of 2 special needs children, I have to limit the amount of time they spend in front of the TV now, for various reasons. One being I heard that there were studies being done on the radiation that is emitted from television, and it’s affect on children with certain disorders and learning disabilities. My boys are both on the autistic spectrum, and you can literally see them become so hyperactive and agitated with the TV on in the background, they just start running around, and “stimming” a lot more. When the TV is off, it’s incredible how much more calm they are, and not too mention the house. So I don’t know if there is really any scientific proof to back this up, LOL but as a mother, I think the best thing we could do for our kids is filter out this unnecessary noise. Just my thoughts.

Ha! I’m thinking your shout out isn’t having the effect you intended, Kevin, and for a very good reason–many of us have already done this. I’m sure the weak economy has nudged people in this direction, too.

All the same, if you change just ONE person’s mind, this is so worth it!

BTW, I’m thinking of compiling a list of the different options listed here and passing it on to others who may think they’re stuck with cable.

Keep up the good work, Kevin, and everyone else who is eliminating the enemy from their life!

This is just my opinion but I am starting to believe the fix is in…but now it has gone over to Mitt’s side. First the MSM pundits melt down collectively as if on cue after the debate debacle Wednesday night.
This morning we have the jobs report which has been cooked, and doesn’t reference the temp retail hiring season.

    Now this I copied from Breitbart;

‘As both CNN and MSNBC reported immediately after this morning’s release, these numbers fail to keep up with population growth–so the U.S. economy continues to tread water.’

This is so strange because when the August jobs report for August and previous months were released, CNN, MSNBC were trumpeting the numbers for Obama, not conceding that they were not truly accurate. Why the change? Hell I saw O’Reilly say more negative things about Obama after the debate than I ever have.
It just seems like a sudden shift in the media since the debate, and it seems kind of forced and unnatural.

Now this from the Washington post:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/10/05/mitt-romney-this-is-not-what-a-real-recovery-looks-like/

So at the very moment the jobs report is released, the Post gives Mitt a forum to explain the numbers? How’d this article/interview get out so fast if the report was just released?
I’m not a big conspiracy guy myself but this is surreal.

Haven’t had cable in years. Only access the deplorable Atlanta Journal Constitution online.

I need some help, however on my internet service provider.
I’m currently with At&t. Their rates are increasing, their service sucks
(down 5 days this past summer while I was taking online college credits!). Worst of all, their home page is Yahoo.

Click on the yahoo homepage to get an idea of how their
news is the worst of the worst. Everything is non stop praise Obama.

Worse is that anything that might gain traction from the other viewpoint is automatically Alinskyed: “fact checked.” Framed
in a “nothing to see here, move on ” condescending tone.

Any low price, good quality, non-yahoo suggestions for
    internet service provider out there?

Hi Kevin, This is so exciting, seeing so many people who have done this! I did this in 2003(I think) for financial reasons. When the time came that I could renew again..I DIDN’T WANT TO! I didn’t miss it either. Everyone thought I was crazy! They couldn’t believe it. I started re-educating myself in the local library. I also used their computers and rented movies from time to time. It was around then, I took the”Limbaugh challenge”, listening to Rush, or Hannity etc for 1 hr a day. Changed my life! I do alot with my money and time now. I’ve changed as a person and I’ve outgrown some of my Leftie friends. All this profound change started with the absence of CABLE TV IN MY LIFE. So I can’t give enough support to any of you considering doing it! Go for it. And Kevin, thank you so much for the listing of stuff to entertain myself with! I had no idea! This is great, and getting better everyday!! As we say on twitter, the media is the enemy. Stop supporting them.

You did exactly what we did in our house. It has been wonderful. No TV for 8 months now. In addition to the things you use, I have one more trick for people. It is called easy-hide-ip.com.
You can watch shows in other countries if you change your IP. We watch the BBC, (Doctor Who!) and shows on ITV and in Canada on the actual websites for the stations/channels. It is really great.
It only costs 29. a year. I am a tech person so I have tried several companies change IP services and the one I listed is the best. It always works and it super easy to use. ( I do not work for them and have nothing to do with them). Most of them have such similar names, that is why I listed it by name. Have fun!
