Illegal immigration debate heats up in Georgia

Posted on June 30, 2011 by Bridget // Domestic Policy, Hillbuzz, Illegal Immigration, Political Figures, Political Figures - The Left, The Left, White House Policy

Things are heating up down south…and I don’t mean the summertime temperatures.  On May 13th, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed into law HB 87 which will crackdown on illegal immigration.  Georgia needs this bill because they have one of the highest percentage of illegal immigrants of any state in the country (the 7th largest amount of illegal immigrants to be exact).  The new law adds more criminal charges to illegals who are arrested…similar to the Arizona law.  It also would make it a criminal offense to harbor or transport illegal immigrants.  This and several other parts of the law were blocked by a federal judge a few days ago but the e-verify clause remains intact and since the Supreme Court upheld the e-verify challenge in May, this part of HB 87 won’t be challenged.  This has many in Georgia screaming.  Most of south Georgia is agricultural and farmers and politicians (from both sides of the aisle) are not happy.  Protest rallies are being held all over the state and things are really getting ugly.

I like to read the Marietta Daily Journal because I used to live in Marietta and it’s a pretty conservative newspaper.  They have a columnist named D.A. King who’s specialty is illegal immigration.  He is the founder of the Dustin Inman Society which is a group of citizens who educate the public and elected officials on what’s really going on with illegal immigration….especially in Georgia.  They know the law and it’s their mission to let the public know when the law isn’t being enforced.  Mr. King wrote an article on June 17th titled “ Pro-law Americans turning tide on immigration” that got a lot of people hot under the collar.

Here’s a little piece of his article that sums up what he thinks…..

A recent survey of Georgia farmers requested by the governor revealed that only  5 percent had used the legal method to obtain farm help. They have been using  the illegals because they could.

The agriculture industry receives  billions of tax dollars in subsidies – and then howls that obeying American  immigration law is “too costly.” If we enforce the law we will end up with that  famous $10 head of lettuce? Guess what? According to many economists and  studies, including one from the respected Center for Immigration Studies in  Washington, labor costs comprise only 6 percent of the price consumers pay for  fresh produce. If farm wages were allowed to rise 40 percent, and if all the  costs were passed on to consumers, the cost to the average household would be  only about $8 a year. Much cheaper than the $2.4 billion annual expense Deal  cites as Georgia’s cost of subsidizing the illegals.

While his article is very good, what’s most eye-opening and more than a little frightening are the comments at the end.  I encourage you to read all of the comments but here’s one of the ones that I find unbelievable…

« Angel Guttierez wrote on Monday, Jun 20 at 03:25  PM »

We have a destiny to fulfill in the land that historically has  been ours for forty thousand years. And we’re a new Mestizo nation. And they  want us to discuss civil rights. Civil rights. What law made by white men to  oppress all of us of color, female and male. This is our homeland. We cannot – we will not- and we must not be made illegal in our own homeland. We are not  immigrants that came from another country to another country. We are migrants,  free to travel the length and breadth of the Americas because we belong here. We  are millions. We just have to survive. We have an aging white America. They are  not making babies. They are dying. It’s a matter of time. The explosion is in  our population.”

Yikes!  Can we stop the invasion?  It feels like we are under attack from all sides doesn’t it?

There are a lot of people who want to see America fall.

Perhaps our biggest enemy is living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I live in Metro Atlanta, and I find it interesting that the libs I know, while completely supporting open borders and immediately labeling anyone who thinks American has a problem with illegal immigration as a racist, also believe that anyone who HIRES an illegal (except they aren't illegal, they are UNDOCUMENTED) is equivalent to a slave master. The argument the employers use in favor of illegals is that they can't afford to hire people who are here legally. The argument my leftie friends use is that these employers are just slave masters, hiring "undocumented" workers for far less money and then holding their "undocumented" status over their heads by threatening deportation, really should make the left more in favor of immigration reform. If everyone who is here is here legally, and if legal immigrants can command higher pay and better working conditions, then the lefties who are so worried about "slave labor" should welcome a push to make sure everyone complies with immigration laws.

Of course, I have suggested this to my leftie friends and am immediately called,,,wait for it…a RACIST!!!!

My really leftie state rep was crying that it would 'hurt georgia businesses.' My thought was: if you were so concerned about business, then why do you support all sorts of other things that hurt GA businesses.
It's absurd. She's not against it because of business, but that's what she said. which makes it an awful thing for her to say, i think…

When Illinois Senator Dick Durbin looks at a crowd of Tea Partying American citizens, he sees extremists and a bunch of fringe wackos who don’t speak for America. When he looks at a roomful of illegal aliens he sees the future of America, and maybe even the next US president:

Angel Gutierrez sounds like a member of La Raza. There are so many things wrong with his rant that it's almost hilarious. To begin with, his surname – Gutierrez – is Spanish, from Spain. So he is part of the invaders. Forty thousand years? The last date I had for humans in the Americas is about 20-25,000 years ago. Humans didn't evolve here, so he an invader on his Indian side, as well. The US is most likely not his homeland unless his parentage includes Tohono O'odams or Yaquis from Guadalupe; they're the only Mexican Indian tribes I know of in this country.

Mr. Gutierrez should go home and change his own country. But he won't. The government there might imprision him; in the US, we reward illegals.

Well, now, let's get real specific. The first tribe of Amer-Indians or Eskimo-Inuit or whoever it was that got here first, they weren't technically "invading" if they were the first humans on this side of the planet. It was the second band of folks migrating across the North Atlantic, or the Bering Straits, that were officially the first "invaders," and every band since. So, just find that original bunch, and their exclusively pure-line descendents, and everybody else has to go back where we came from! [Packing suitcase.]

Let us examine Mr. Guttierez's logic.

If we are looking to do justice to all racial groups, then technically he is correct. The white race is not native to the Americas. Neither are the Mestizos, of course, but they are at least partially descended from the "original" inhabitants, so their claim to the land is more legitimate in this line of thinking, while all white Americans are actually the ones here illegitimately.

If we do not believe in the concept of open borders – which is incompatible with the idea of any single group, racial or otherwise, having claim over a certain territory to the exclusion of other groups – then anyone who is illegitimately present in a territory must be removed and sent to where they do belong. Applying racial ideas of sovereignty again, this means that all white Americans should be deported to Europe.

But it also means that all black Americans should be deported to Africa, all Asian Americans should be sent to Asia, and so on. Applied globaly, this form of justice also requires that all Arabs leave Europe. In fact, seeing as Arab armies conquered North Africa in the 7th century, they should leave that area, as well, and return it to the Berber populations that were there before them. All told, there's a lot of moving of people that needs to happen to restore all territories to the racial groups that, by this reasoning, rightfully own them.

Of course, even disregarding the feasibility of such massive demographic shifts, this would mean forcibly removing possibly billions of individuals from the places where they were born and have lived their entire lives and relocating them to foreign countries, as punishment for something that entirely seperate individuals did, in some cases over a millenium ago.

And that is why we apply justice to real persons, not abstract concepts such as races.

Angel Guttierez really is a piece of work….hopefully his quote becomes a slogan on billboards across the Nation. For several years we have hired 3 to 4 Hispanic workers through the H2B program. The work is seasonal. By law, we are mandated to advertise in both the local newspaper and CareerLink, in order to give American workers first shot. The only criteria we have is that they be job/shovel ready people….because we cannot train new workers. The H2B workers pay all taxes Americans pay, but they go home after an 9 month period. They do not bring their families, nor can they collect SS , medicare or unemployment, despite this, they sign up, go through Homeland Security vetting, and gladly do so. We pay a hefty fee to be in the program, and jumped through every hoop the Federal Government put in our way. This year one of our men came into the airport in Georgia, ironically, as we are in PA, only to be turned away by ICE. Despite being vetted by HS, and getting their approval to work here, ICE found an issue HS didn't. it seems that he had entered the US about 10 years ago to work, sans H2B connection. After a short while, he went back home. We weren't aware of it, but given the joke of an illegal immigration policy we have, it almost seems laughable that they immediately sent him home…. after having him sign a confession. We weren't notified, and it is my understanding he will not be able to re-enter the Country for at least 5 years. They sent a man home who was vetted and although he did break the law by entering into Texas, chose to do it the right way, only to get the book. We allow felons, and murderors, who are also illegals, to be free to walk the streets, without so much of a glance. If they enlarge the H2B program, make it less restrictive, those farmers could have all the workers they need, and those workers do not use up the schools, hospitals, etc. , and they would pay all applicable taxes. They won't do it because they want a whole new group of voters to corrupt.

And where/how, exactly, would Sr. Guttierrez and his 'Mestizo' 'migrant' kindred be working in his so-called 'homeland' had it not been for the British and European independent farmers, merchants and entrepreneurs who settled and then developed into a (once) market-driven prosperous nation what is now North America? Sr. Guttierez and his 'Mestizo' 'migrants' did nothing to develop North America throughout his claimed 'forty thousand years' of 'destiny' on this continent, yet now he/they want to suddenly claim North America as their 'homeland,' particularly in light of the mess they've made of their birth nation, now ruled by savage drug lords? How about Sr. Guttierez and his 'Mestizo' 'migrants' press further southward and try that 'homeland' line on South American dictators such as Hugo Chavez?

We have e-verify in my state. It was passed in 2008 and then challenged. In 2010 the law was upheld in court. I can tell you, when it first passed, the interstates and highways looked like the Grapes of Wrath! Those illegal folks couldn't get out of here fast enough. They headed out in all directions. We also had a very noticeable drop in our crime rates.

    I know………I'm a racist.

If the State of Washington is issuing Drivers Licenses with nothing more than a fake SSA number and a utility bill, then this country is heading for a dung heap. Washington will even accept a phony Mexican Matrícula Consular ID cards as proof of identification. You can even get the DL using a fake birth Certificate. Many US States are in violation of the Federal Immigration laws, by not introducing "Secure Communities" that give ICE and Homeland Security access to fingerprints of any person who comes into their jurisdiction.

What the Liberal backed Congress hasn't reckoned on, is the growing appearance of the TEA PARTY, with its agenda

Journalist Evangelina Hernandez also stated to her interviewer Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News if illegal aliens moved back to Mexico or other countries, it would leave just California an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominant language again.

Very interesting today that California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a law into effect, that retailers on the internet must collect sales tax, to assist in reducing the 26 billion dollar state deficit. But it’s my view that they should start a zero-tolerance policy on removing the illegal alien invaders, who are stealing peoples ID and raping the welfare system.

Judge the TEA PARTY on its merits as it will return our god given right to free speech, dissolve the corruption of the “Politically Correct” concept, and reduce the Federal government to limits as written in the US Constitution and the taxing of the people less. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and TEA PARTY chair person will lead this final battle and make President Obama a one term president. The administration has paid out a trillion dollars in bailouts and the useless stimulus package and still wants to spend over another Trillion dollars (According to the nonprofit Heritage Foundation) to process and legitimize the 20 million plus illegal alien occupants, squatting in America. Any true American whose sees the failing of previous Administration and its Presidents, influenced by the elites in Washington, lobbyists that for money and power and the best benefits that concealed cash can by. Under Michele Bachmann's watch there will be–NO AMNESTY–of any kind, Sanctuary Cities and States policies will be eradicated; No DREAM ACT, as like most are connected to more Chain Migration and of these deceiving programs encourages further illegal immigration to our shores and borders. We must elect a strong willed leader who will secure our borders and cautasize the loophole for the babies of illegal aliens and the family living like ghouls of the financial flesh of US taxpayers.

You should also introduce yourself to the people who run this devastated country at the Senate—202-224–3121/ House—202-225–3121. You can also find out the truth of what illegal immigration is costing the average American, stolen by IRS government agents and politicians to pacify the growing population of foreign nationals. Since the inception of the 1986 immigration law, to push through the innocuous amnesty, it has never worked.

IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO WORK? PREVIOUS GOVERNMENTS HAVE CHEATED US OUT OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS; OVERTIME TRILLIONS, FOR EITHER MORE FUTURE VOTES OR FOR CHEAP LABOR. REMEMBER TOO THAT THE 2012 ELECTION IS CERTAINLY IN PERIL, IF FOREIGN NATIONALS VOTE AS THEY DID IN THE PRIOR MID TERM VOTING CYCLE. VOTER FRAUD IS NO JOKE AND COULD WRECK AN HONEST ELECTION? WANT MORE FACTS, THEN GO TO NUMBERSUSA.

This country welcomes immigrants who go about gaining citizenship the right way. They have to earn it. When they earn the right to stay in this country, they become invested in it. They came here for the freedom and prosperity. They assimilate. Illegal immigrants do not. They flout our laws, and they do not contribute to the country – they take from it. The money they earn (in the place of an American worker) is sent to their home country, not spent in the very communities in which they live and work. It hurts the prosperity of our country – the very reason they came here.

I have fought illegal immigration for over 7 yrs.
I have learned that we tax payers are spending over $100 Billion each year on them.

Two yrs. ago, I read that over 45,000 US citizens have been killed by illegal aliens.
numbersusa.com is a good place to learn and fax your Reps. and Senators.

Other places to learn about the crimes committed against US citizens, is voiac.org and if you enter into a search page, "US citizens victimized by illegal aliens"….you will find other sites.

One Hispanic professor in California is on video saying they will take back the land, and if the white man gets in the way, then the white man should be killed.
Isn't it time our politicians start protecting the citizens of the USA and not illegal aliens?

In 2009 our politicians brought in 1.2 million new VISA workers, each yr. they do this…….and they wonder why our own citizens have no jobs!

What other country could millions of foreigners march in their streets and demand laws be changed for them?
Check out the immigration laws of Austrailia, now those are tough laws!

There are a lot of things that I believe in this whole debate.

Everyone is crying (okay, maybe only the atlanta journal constitution, but still) that there are millions of dollars of GA crops that are going unpicked – that are dying on the vines, so to speak, because of this law (no one says: hey um, the law went into effect TODAY, which means that before today if there wasn't anyone to pick anything – well, then that begs the question of why?). But, um, if one is here illegally, isn't one here illegally? breaking the laws of the country? Do people not think this is a problem?

Realistically – because GA is the only state nearby with this law, the people who are here illegally will just go to another state. The thing is that there is enough work. It just leaves GA at a disadvantage. I would deal with the higher food prices (well, I'm growing my own food and a member of a CSA partnership with a farmer, but still) – because then you are paying the 'real' prices. But we are not able to compete with other states who can do things that are illegal, so food prices from food from GA will be higher, but not food from other states. It is an issue. If it's true.

Unemployment in GA/Atlanta is over 10%. There are plenty of people around to do the work. But they don't want to do the work because the farmers are supposedly not paying enough. So the people need to deal AND/OR the farmers need to raise their wages. it's very simple. supply and demand. i wouldn't just say: oh, those people are lazy…it's that the wages SUCK – because the immigrants are willing to take less for reasons above.

We as a nation are to blame for SO MUCH OF THIS. We need to close the borders and not let more people in. Then and only then would I suggest that we can pass something akin to the dream act. But it is a crying shame that we of the US have allowed these terrible things to go on. Did anyone read the article by the NYT columnist about how he's here illegally. he was brought here and told that he was here legally, but he wasn't. At what point do we just kick people out of here? Of course, he wasn't a baby when he got here, but still – he wasn't a part of the whole thing. He was an innocent child. What do we do? We have created a problem. However, after Reagan gave amnesty we the people were told that the problem was going to be 'solved' but the reality is that it''s WORSE now than when he did that. We can't keep letting people in – we are giving people hope that 'at some point' they will just get amnesty, if they hold out long enough. it's really a terrible thing and we the US are to blame for a lot of what is going on. Because we are cowards who don't want to deal with it (sound familiar?).

Hmm… Guttierez' "this was our land first" rant sounds dangerously close to the Palistinian "right of return" spiel. Check out the shenanigans at the CFA. The California Faculty Association (CFA) Board of Directors adopted an anti-Israel/pro-Palestinian in February of 2009 and passed it in April of the same year. The CFA is the largest university-professor union in the Tarnished Golden State.

Now why the h**l is a teachers union sticking itself in the Israel/Palestine debate? Well, take a look at who pushed the resolution: union board member Manzar Foroohar. Foroohar is an immigrant from Iran who is unabashedly anti-Israel. She is also a history professor at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, with a specialty in the ME and Latin America. A few years back, Foroohar was the member of a discussion panel titiled:“From la Frontera to Gaza: Chicano-Palestinian Connections.”–From the [Mexican] Border to Gaza.. Lovely, ain't it? One of the "themes" explored by the panel and participants was this little ditty: How are the histories of “Occupied America” and of "Occupied Palestine" connected?

Obviously, there is a concerted effort among Leftist/Islamist elites to merge their Reconquista/Right of Return agendas into a whole new mass movement. A very dangerous movement, I might add. I've already seen a sprinkling of college students, mostly young men, wearing those B&W checkered Hammas scarves. There are T-shirts with images of clenched fists and slogans in Spanish hailing a Meshica/Palestina alliance of revolt and revolution. All in the name of freedom, of course.

Things don't end with Foroohar's anti-Israel agenda. The CFA is SEIU Local 1983. And SEIU's media daring is President Obama…

Yup, Bridget, it does feel like "we are under attack from all sides."

Unfortunately, the commenter was correct. Do you know the saying, "the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world?" Children are indoctrinated with liberal beliefs from the moment they enter the school system in just about every community in the country. Don't be surprised when the boarders are completely opened in the next 10 years when these children get to vote.
