Hundreds of young Muslim girls fear honor killings

This is so sad to me. There must be thousands of Muslim girls around the world who are trapped in their barbaric Islamic culture. Girls whose parents move them to the West for a better life yet expect them to adhere to the backward ways of their old country. What did they think would happen when their young daughters got a little taste of the freedom?
How many organizations are out there that can help the girls who want to escape?

I think the “New Agenda” organization has spoken out against this.
NOW, on the other hand, is still figuring out how to attack Sarah Palin. What a pathetic organization NOW is now, and I say that as someone who has donated and supported NOW…. until 2008. I have very little to no respect for them any longer.
It really is too bad. Here is a cause that NOW could jump on and really raise their visibility worldwide. The fact that they do not shows what their real agenda is. I love hoe Rush calls them the NAGS.
They are too chicken….do you think they would actually speak out against anything dealing with Islam….they only target Christians…they know they will not attempt to kill THEM.
I agree – and their cowardly stance emphasizes how pathetic their values really are. I’ve long wondered how it is that they can stay silent on the islamofascists’ treatment of women. If they have true values, they would go to the mat on this. If they’re afraid, then come out and admit this, but then, it would reveal that they only go after easy targets where it would cost them very little to go after those who could not defend themselves.
I would have thought that “old hags” is a more appropriate name for NOW.
They have known about the plight of these girls for a very long time and they are simply not interested.
NOW has been turning a blind eye on the honour killings. It is because as fascists and totalitarians they support other totalitarians.
Yes Amy Siskind of The New Agenda is a friend who I worked with when I volunteered for the Hillary Clinton Campaign. She and others at the New Agenda got The American Pediatrics Society to reverse there decision to approve “genital nicking” which was intended to appease barabarians who cut off the clitorus of young girls. I made a call to this Pediatricians organization myself and really let them have it. They reversed their position thanks to The New Agenda and I believe that legislation is in the works to make it illegal to bring an American citizen to a Muslim country to have this “proceedure” performed.
Two other fine organizations are Act For America and AHA. They are not gender specific like The New Agenda but they address all of the horos of The religion of hate-Islam.
exactly, re: both Amy and NOW. I think Amy Siskind has been the ONLY feminist activist to speak up for ALL women without regard to their political beliefs, NOW is PATHETIC. They stand for no one on EITHER side really. They have really showed themselves to be a bunch of irrelevant useless mindless frauds. They truly disgust me.
Amazing. If I’m not mistaken, RT is a Russian news outlet. Our news would be working overtime to cover up the truth, and squelch a segment like this that shows the Islamic way in a negative light.
Question: From the segment, are we to assume that the woman that was in hiding was found and killed by her family?
The woman being interviewed is not the same woman they showed scenes from at her funeral. I think both women were named Fatima (though that might be a fake name for the person being interviewd) so that might be where the confusion lies.
I agree, NOW should be helping these women escape true horror rather than concentrating on conservative women in America.
Do we have sanctuary in the US for them? That would be wonderful!!!
There is a precedent for an”underground railroad”.
Then such a sanctuary would be labeled as being islamophobic. But it’s a great idea – if we are a country that believes in freedom and defending those who cannot defend themselves. Unfortunately, we don’t have the political will to do so, and I would never have believed that 20 years ago.

I picked up a book by Victor Hugo which has a lot of his poetry translated into English. The first is entitled THE FALLEN VEIL, which is about a Muslim woman who took off her veil because it was hot while she was walking. Someone saw her. So her three brothers are now going to kill her. She begs for her life, “Mercy! Allah! have pity!” The three brothers stab her to death. A very powerful poem.
Obviously this has been going on for a long time.
Why do women continue to adhere to the Muslim faith? What’s in it for them? One woman alone cannot do much to stop the madness, but imagine if Muslim women, en masse, were able to assert “Enough!”. I don’t know how to do it, but educating the women would really undercut the Muslims power. And have I mentioned, ladies, that you can have eternal salvation AND undamaged body parts?
Good question, but when your every moment existence is filled with people who do everything they can to purge you of basic decency of gathering with others, there is little chance that there could be any kind of revolution. When they pound fear into you from the moment you wake up until you collapse at night, I can’t imagine that there is enough mental energy to think of ways out of this darkness. I feel sorry for these ladies and I wish I could help them. It’s so not right that they are made to bear the burdens.
