How the Media Lies: they are doing the same thing now that they did in 2010 to drag Democrats across the finish line and depress conservative morale
DougRoss@Journal busted out some charts today to illustrate how the corrupt media is lying again (just like they did in 2010) to demoralize conservatives and depress turnout. You should check out his site at the link (I’ll wait as you do) because he took the time to make one of those graphs that show how the media’s manipulating polling samples in order to produce results that seem favorable to Obama’s re-election chances. This is something that is missed by a lot of people out there (including my boyfriend Justin’s mother, CarolAnne, who runs panicking to the phone every time MSNBC releases a new “poll” showing Obama in the lead…without ever stopping to think, “Gee, maybe they are lying to me again. I better not trust that tee-vee or let it suck me into a depressed state again today”).
Ross says that an accurate polling sample in the year 2012 would be: R = 36, D = 33, and I = 31. When I look at polls, I have been using the numbers R = 37, D = 33, I = 29 and I tend to throw away 1% on people who won’t actually show up for anything on November 6. Republicans are at their highest registration advantage in history and the Democrat Party is so toxic that most high-profile Democrats stayed THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY from Charlotte and keep distancing themselves further from Obama in their re-election bids. Despite what the members of the corrupt media screech and try to convince themselves of on TV, the Democrat brand was badly if not irreparably damaged from 2008 through 2012 and Americans do not want Democrats in high office right now. Most Independents are going to break for Romney (3/4 of them), Democrat turnout will be unenthusiastic, and no one who voted for McCain in 2008 is going to switch to Obama. More importantly, no one who sat home four years ago “to teach McCain a lesson or something” is going to play games like that this time. Obama is not going to win.
Ross doesn’t come out and say the obvious that we are in a Depression, but he says that the “conflagrations in the Middle east, QE3, and an economy back in recession” will further dissuade voters from any inkling of returning to the hopeychange ranks in November. We’re in a Depression, folks. The media won’t admit it until 2013 after Romney’s president, but it’s true. Democrat operatives masquerading as “journalists” keep trying to pretend “we’re in recovery!” because they need to say that to continue to make the case for re-electing Obama but this is like insincere salespeople at the mall telling you that “No, of course those jeans don’t make your butt look big!” when their commissions are on the line. The talking heads who are true high priests of the Obama cult, like Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow at MSNBC, actually believe that 2008 was a “transformative election” and that Democrats now are destined to hold the presidency forever because “the demographics have been permanently changed!” but this is nonsense they spew through the TV to scare the bejeebus out of gullible people like CarolAnne (who is lovely and very nice and yes she knows I write about her but doesn’t think she’s doing anything wrong by believing what they say on MSNBC because she claims “they wouldn’t say it if it weren’t true!”).
If you don’t know the TV lies to you, then maybe you should start talking to the toaster again because it’s been trying to warn you for years.
Don’t believe the Doom Reports that are churned out on sites like HotAir and RedState either. I don’t mean to pick on these sites, because I read them every day too, but it’s just that the writers Allahpundit and Erik Erikson respectively seem to have a purposeful agenda to demoralize their conservative readers. To an extent, the anonymous “Ace” over at “AceofSpadesHQ” does this too. I follow these sites to monitor straight, male conservatives in their natural environment like a gay Jacques Cousteau submerging to document the oddities in a reef somewhere. I have seen middle school girls who squeal and shriek less when plagued by spiders than Allahpundit, Erikson, and Ace reacting to the latest poll from the corrupt media and declaring “DOOM! DOOM! WE BE DOOMED!”. Straight male conservatives need to take some of the advice Governor Sarah Palin recently gave to Barack Obama and grow bigger sticks.
There is no doubt in my mind that these three people engage in a deliberate game of depressing conservatives who read them — but I just don’t know why they do it. When I played soccer as a kid, there was this one little jackass on my team named Deacon who used to blubber before every game “There’s no way we can beat the Tigers!” or “the blue team always wins so why do we bother!”. I hated that kid. His father was one of the coaches and he still pulled this crap! Our team was a motley crew of kids who were all doing this for fun, some of them even playing for the first time. Other teams were more focused and committed and for some reason the one dressed all in shiny black with red stripes and called “The Knights” really was intimidating, visually in wardrobe choice alone but then also in playing skills too. Decaon cried and whined and bemoaned our fate a lot. I just psyched up to get muddy, possibly a little bloody, and kick the ball as hard and as far as I could towards the goal every chance I came near it regardless of who I was up against. I wanted to win, to see my team in high spirits and focused on our goal, and to show poor crybaby Deacon that his natterings and burblings were unfounded.
If we’d lose a match, Deacon would cry, “See! I toldja! We shudda just forfeited and gone home!”. When we’d win, Deacon would be the first one racing to the front of the line at Dairy Queen to celebrate victory — and would then prompted forget everything he said to demoralize his teammates before the match. This is similar to Allahpundit at HotAir wiping away everything pessimistic he said back in 2010 before the big wins by Republicans in the midterm elections…and it’s what he’ll also no doubt do in mid-November 2012 after Obama is defeated and he’ll need to “memory hole” a lot of his “Doom Reports” while people are too busy celebrating to remember that, “Hey, this is the guy who used to depress the crap out of me every day and make me want to kill myself over those polls…and now suddenly he makes it seem like he never did any of that”.
Yesterday, I asked the HillBuzz reading community to help me scry back to the late summer and early fall of 2010 and see what sort of “Doom Reports” they could find in the corrupt media claiming that Democrats would keep the House and that the Tea Party was negligible or nonexistent. This is when I discovered that HotAir had purposefully deleted almost all of Allahpundit’s writing from that time period…with other conservative sites like RedState.com also taking great pains to wipe away all of their Eeyore-breeding and demoralizing efforts. As I keep saying, when Republicans win the shock and joy of that moment next triggers severe amnesia and they forget all the Hell that fellow conservatives put them through by fueling the corrupt media’s narratives that “Democrats will keep the House”.
I want you to remind you that Joe Biden aggressively campaigned every day in 2010, repeatedly saying that Democrats would keep the House in 2010; instead, it was the largest defeat for a party in power in 90 years. HotAir, RedState, and AceofSpades carried water for Democrats by reporting the corrupt media’s polling of “keeping the House!” as true…and no doubt demoralized a great many people out there by spreading these needless gray rain clouds.
I want to remind you that Nancy Pelosi repeatedly and vociferously took to any camera that would gaze at her gorgon’s face and emphatically stated that polling showed that Democrats would keep the House and she’d still be Speaker when the dust settled. Almost all of the conservative sites out there agonized over this, with Allahpundit being the loudest voice in the pack shouting “DOOM! Pelosi knows something!”. That has been conveniently wiped away in 2012, but I remember those Doom Reports on HotAir regarding Pelosi’s confidence in a big Democrat win. The truth is, the woman is just insane and lives in a dreamworld bubble and had no idea what she was talking about, as usual. Biden was out there doing his job as VP and lying to people as a partisan…but Pelosi was just rambling and wish casting. Many conservative sites chose to give her a platform and help Democrats by shouting “DOOM!” with the only thing to go on being Nancy Pelosi’s word that “a surprise was coming”.
Why did they do this?
Actually, a better question is: why are they doing this garbage again now?
I never understand why conservatives repeat the same mistakes, never seem to learn, and are so genetically inclined to fall into depression. I don’t know why conservative writers encourage this, instead of using every article they write to show — like Ross did above — how the corrupt media lies and manipulates numbers to help Democrats.
Barack Obama won election in 2008 because enough Republicans either sat home or actually crossed the aisle to vote for him (!!!!!!) to push him over the top. The country did not magically transform into a socialism-craving European-style abortionfest between 2004 and 2008. But I do note that between 2004-2008 a lot of the conservative sites that pump out nonstop DOOM REPORTS came into existence…and between 2008 and 2012 these sites have consistently tried to depress people while heralding the latest “news” from the corrupt media.
I honestly and truly suspect there’s some sort of gamesmanship at play and wonder if HotAir, in particular, really wants to see an Obama win because having Barack in the White House means higher traffic and easier topics to write about over there. It’s so easy to go down rabbit holes of conspiracy wondering what people’s real motives are in politics, but I just don’t understand anyone who writes for a conservative site or even comments on one who does not focus on exposing how the corrupt media lies to benefit Democrats. That should be a paragraph, at least, in every article because whatever’s being covered in the news that day is saturated with the corrupt media’s pro-Democrat spin.
I think the reason so many conservatives are so bad at picking up on this stuff is because it’s so rare that they see anyone talking about it…or calling out the conservative writers who pen “Doom Reports” instead of showing people just how shamelessly the corrupt media lies in service to the Left.
Today I am reading through all the material that we collected from yesterday’s research project on the 2010 midterms and just how WRONG both the corrupt media and many conservative sites got it. These same people are largely wrong about what they are claiming is going on in the 2012 race too. I invite you to do this sort of digging on your own, too, and see that for MONTHS “all the polling shows Democrats holding the House” or “conventional wisdom is that the Tea Party is over and Americans embrace Obamacare” up to the day that Democrats received the most brutal shellacking a political party has seen at the hands of voters since before there were even airplanes.
Seriously, folks. Don’t buy into the Eeyore-breeding or the Doom Reports this year. Work hard, get the Romney/Ryan message out there, encouraged people who voted for Obama last time to reevaluate their stance on hopeychange, and don’t waste a moment of your life on panic. I’d also suggest you stop reading Allahpundit altogether. I love HotAir but I skip Allahpundit’s articles. I really and truly believe his agenda is just to depress people for the sake of keeping them too sad and worried to do anything positive in the election. Not sure why he does it, but there’s an agenda in his articles and I hope you can see it too.
I know this because there is an agenda in my articles too: and my agenda is for Romney/Ryan to win and for Barack Obama to lose BIG in six weeks and change. Everything I do is committed to that. When I was a kid even if we were five goals behind in a soccer game and my idiot teammate Deacon was crying behind the bench that we “WERE DOOMED!” I’d still keep giving it my all because I just don’t understand the alternative. Life is short. Resources are limited. The stakes are high.
Stay positive. Stay proactive. Stay away from Allahpundit.
UPDATE: As if on cue, here is EXACTLY what I mean happening over at AceofSpades:
I would especially love for someone out there to explain to me why Ace does this.
It’s a Rasmussen poll that has Romney in the lead, but still it’s written up in a negative tone with the phrase “rumors of the demise of Romney/Ryan have been greatly exaggerated”.
I worked in marketing for years in hotels and restaurants. Let me illustrate how Ace’s writing would come across in the food world:
This contradicts what you might think, but come and eat at the Rainbow Room. Maybe the food here is okay after all. But, even so, rumors about your getting food poisoning or amoebic dysentery here are probably greatly exaggerated.
How fast would you rush to the phone to book your next reservation?
Would you gather up your friends to have dinner there tonight?
This is what I am talking about and I see it ALL OVER the conservative sites. People like Ace or Allahpundit or Erik Erikson consistently writing just about every piece with dripping negativity. It’s almost like they WANT Obama to win so that they can continue standard operating procedures and won’t have to reinvent their brands when Romney takes office.
Are you picking up on any of this?
