Yesterday, Sharon Meroni of Defend the Vote testified before the Board of Elections here in Illinois. I’ll have a full report on it later, but two things happened that were absolutely gobsmacking:
1. The Board vehemently and aggressively tried to prevent Sharon and others from Defend the Vote from videotaping the hearing — even though the Open Meeting Act here in Illinois protects the rights of citizens to record meetings like this. One Board member actually said, with a straight face, “We can’t have these things taped…we might say something stupid they’ll get on camera!”. After a spat of several minutes, the General Counsel for the Board of Elections stepped in and reminded the Board that video taping is allowed. “Well, I guess we don’t have to like it. So I’m not going to say anything in the meeting then”, one Board Member said.
2. At one point, after Sharon called the Board on the carpet for instances of the dead voting in Illinois, electronic voting fraud, and ballot tampering, the Chair actually said to Sharon — also with a straight face — that “there’s nothing we can do about any of this because we don’t have any money to stop the fraud”.
Do you realize that the Board of Elections pays its members high salaries for sitting on the Board? The Chair receives $58,000 for attending this monthly meeting; the Vice Chair makes $49,000; the regular Board Members (including one man who slept through most of the meeting) make $37,000. Add all that up, plus their expense accounts, and you have several hundred thousand dollars that could certainly go towards stopping at least SOME voter fraud in the state of Illinois.
The other big takeaway from this meeting is that the Illinois Board of Elections recognizes that the majority of voter fraud in the state takes place in East St. Louis — and they’ve decided there’s nothing that can be done about it, so they’ve given up on securing the ballot there. In fact, they talk about East St. Louis like it’s Manhattan in a John Carpenter movie and it should just be walled-off as a No-Mans-Land.
This is what we’re up against, folks.
Is this sort of attitude prevalent in your state, too?
What else is on your mind today?
What are people talking about in your part of the country?

Looking forward to those videos. What's the next step for Defend the Vote?
Thank God for Sharon Meroni! The Illinois State Board of Elections chairman said that the problem with dead people voting in Chicago was rampant in the PAST but now it's not a problem anymore because of electronic voting machines. WHAT??!! Yes…he really did say that. Appalling.
Have you ever been to East St. Louis? It could be integrated to parts of Detroit and Chicago
without anyone noticing a difference. I do not think, however, that it can compete with Chicago
voter fraud issues.
That said, I cannot be convinced that "thug town", home of the most elected officials to go to jail/prison, run by the democrats for seems like forever, has any interest in fighting the "dead"
voter fraud. It suits their purposes.
Newt hit another homer last night. Here's the GP post with video: http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/02/newt-nail…

So, a liberal Board of Elections in one of the most fraud-ridden states in the country can make a racist statement like that about East St. Louis, and nobody will call him on it. Like they have just declared East St. Louis, which is like, 99% black, completely out of control. If a Republican made a statement like that, he would be crucified.
Yes! Amen! It is so frustrating to me to see this happening!
Ann Coulter: Let’s Face it, Romney’s Not the Establishment Candidate, Palin Is!
This is so sublimely asinine that I can’t even think of anything to write: I’m flabbergasted (I always wanted to use that word in a post). For that reason I’ll post her idiocy without comment and let you all discuss the depths to which the once credible Coulter has descended in her defense of the Mittster, whose stated positions make him only marginally less liberal than Obama (emphasis mine):

The obviusly eating disordered aging spinster Coulter has an unatural infatuation with first Christie and now Romney Christie's approved presidential nominee. The scrawny Coulter seems to have falllen into a neurotic derangement syndrome such as that commonly found among disoriented thiteen year old girl celebrity obsessed losers.
‘Game Change’ Loses Choir: ‘L.A. Times’ Readers Choose ‘The Undefeated’ Over HBO Hit-Job
This isn’t scientific, but it sure is amusing. The left-wing “L.A. Times” included a poll in this article. They asked their mostly left-wing readers which film they were more interested in seeing: HBO’s “Game Change” or Steven Bannon’s “The Undefeated.”
Here are the results as of now: http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/jjmnolte/2012/0…
Woke up thinking of a brokered Republican convention. What do you think of Chris Christie and Marco Rubio as the pres and vp candidates? Yea, I know, I was dreaming.
Just watched Obama's energy policy speech. Guy is completely dillusional.
On the issue of the Koran burnings, it seems from watching that the Muslim faith is very weak (physically, mentally, and spiritually) in that they go crazy after a book is burned. To quote: "I find your lack of faith disturbing." They're still practicing their faith as if it were the 9th century. Either they move their religion to peace or time for them to go find another faith cause this one is not working out for them.
God bless you Sharon Meroni! And you too, Kevin for introducing her to so many of us.
She now has video of an elected board that could become the poster-child for voter fraud.
I pray for her wisdom, guidance and stamina as she wages this courageous battle against the dark forces that defend and protect this thieving scourge.
