Two exciting wins to report: The Ohio State Buckeyes beat Colorado (whew…!) And Florida Straw Poll voters beat both the Lamestream Media and Cocktail Party GOP by giving Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain 37% of the vote and the win.

Watch this announcement of the vote totals…it’s like a rock concert when Florida governor Rick Scott announces Herman Cain’s win.

Your assignment for today: bring up Herman Cain’s name in every conversation with friends, family, co-workers, and social media buddies…and be sure to refer to him as “frontrunner Herman Cain.” If you must refer to either Mittens Romneycare or Rick “Illegalphile” Perry, be sure to call them “also-ran Mitt Romney, who’s not really serious” or “has-been Rick Perry, who can’t win.”

You're just awful. Anyway – I think it's awesome that not only did Cain WIN – he more than doubled the votes of any other candidate. Of course, there weren't that many votes overall, and you never know…but wow. He is on fire.
I have been a little worried since he hasn't been getting the press he should be getting. And he made a few gaffes (showing he is human…). But I really like him.
I really like Gary Johnson too…and am glad he got on stage this week…

I found it interesting over the weekend that most of the MSM characterized Cain's big win as the Florida voters voting AGAINST Romney and Perry (not FOR Cain) or that Cain's win has opened the door for another RINO, Chris Christie. They just can't believe that, outside of New England, Washington, DC or Mexifornia, WE THE PEOPLE are fed up with liberals and RINOS and want true conservatism!

The straw polls are typically not completely representative. I mean, how many people voted? fewer than 3000. What *was* telling was that Cain got more than double the votes than any other candidate. I found this completely awesome.

and cain's story is illuminating. I mean, seriously, he grew up in the south of Jim Crow. Obama grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia.
Cain went to Morehouse because well, there were quotas at other schools. He has degrees in Comp Sci and Math – not so easy.
(an especially interesting history of this time in Atlanta, which is the atlanta that Cain grew up in, is The Temple Bombing, by Melissa Faye Greene. It has a wonderful history of black atlanta…fascinating…).

Cain is Black but he is also OLD, BORING, Moderate and with no elective , military or executive experience.

lol Herman Cain, CEO of Godfathers Pizza, the man who turned around Burger King and was also a high level executive at Pillsbury has no executive experience?

I know I'm not supposed to feed the trolls, but please, if the Democrat handler that controls Carmelo Junior is watching, you should dock his pay. Herman Cain is far more qualified to be President than Barack Obama – Obama being a man who is not qualified for any job in the private sector due to his complete lack of marketable skills.

White guilt should not be in the conservative movement, period. We like minorities because they are exciting, electable and QUALIFIED(West, Rubio, Martinez, Haley) not because they run pizza!

I like INDIVIDUALS. Individuals are the smallest “minority.”

Herman Cain has had his own talk radio show in Atlanta for several years. I first heard of him as a guest host for libertarian talk show host Neal Boortz.

Herman Cain has been speaking at Tea Party events for years.

I love Herman Cain because I love Herman Cain. I respect him for turning around a failing company (Godfather’s Pizza). And for his executive experience.

Not because I feel guilty. Or because of his race or mine.

However, I’m gleeful about the entertainment value of a Cain versus Obummer election. I enjoy the thought of watching the LSM twist itself into a pretzel to make Herman Cain, and all his Tea Party supporters into RAAAAAAACISTs.

So Carmelo, who exactly is the candidate YOU favor? And BTW, Herman Cain's race is NOT relevant to conservatives who support him. We don't support him out of white guilt, we support him because we AGREE with him. I have been a huge fan of Herman Cain for years, as I live in Atlanta and am a faithful listener to his radio show. I also supported him when he ran for the Senate here in GA. So get off your high horse, reveal your own preferences and prejudices and stop calling Cain old and boring. He is new and refreshing, smart and capable. We need NEW blood in Washington, not the same old political BS we've been seeing for decades.

The Push For Christie Is About Romney, Not Perry

First, a big congratulations are in order for Herman Cain. He kicked azz and took names in the Florida straw poll, in large part because he answered the questions, while not playing the usual political games. The next debate in Las Vegas in October will be critical for Perry. If he doesn't turn things around, people are going to begin talking about the long road home for the Texas Governor.

As for this, I simply want to dispel one myth. While a weakened Perry may be being used as something of a ruse and also something of a door for the robust Governor from NJ, Chris Christie, to walk through, the forces trying to push Christie into the race are driven by concerns over Romney, not Perry. If they didn't believe, as do many conservatives, that Romney isn't going to cut it against Obama, they would be more than happy to sit on their hands and watch Perry implode.

My take on the FL GOP debate and subsequent straw poll is folks are finally waking up to the LSM's attempt to hypontize the electorate with their Perry/Mittens, Mittens/Perry mantra. Kudos to Herman Cain for the big upset.

I am now more convinced than ever our next POTUS has not entered the race yet. I am prayerfully waiting for her.

Bill Hughes: Perry Romneyizes Himself, Opens Door For Palin

In a post yesterday, I discussed how the fact that the declared GOP field has been narrowed down to a fraud (Romney) and a not-ready-for prime-time illiterate (Perry) has opened the door wide for Governor Palin to come crashing through, and how the recent series of GOP debates has made the gaping hole in the current field crystal clear. Late yesterday, in an excellent piece at City on a Hill Political Observer, Bill Hughes came to the same conclusion. Here are some excerpts from his piece:

    Barack Luther King

When English essayist, poet, and pamphleteer Samuel Johnson said that “patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel,” he was being ironic. The comment was meant as an indictment of false patriots.
Johnson delivered that zinger nearly 250 years ago, but one wonders if the good doctor—who after all was a pretty smart cookie—somehow anticipated the rise of Barack Obama.

Of the candidates who have declared, here are my thoughts:

Cain – Excellent speaker; just a tad slow on the uptake as a candidate, but he's learned very quickly; detailed with plans; focuses on the issues facing the country; very impressed with him; like his IDEAS!

Romney – Good in debate; papers over many of his flip-flops; still not comfortable in my heart about him because of his flip-flops. He says he would issue a waiver for Obamacare for all states. But I don't remember EVER hearing him talk about repealing it. Did I miss that?

Gary Johnson – Don't know him.

Ron Paul – Not my cup of tea at all; not right on Iran.

Bachmann – LIke her; but get off the vaccine already.

    Huntsman – Obama in drag.

Perry – Liked him; more and more NOT liking him. Dude, can you form a sentence?

    Santorum – feh.

Gingrich – Right on ideas; not the person for the job.

First, congratulations to Herman Cain. It is a great victory for him. Second, shame on Hillbuzz. I have been a longtime fan of HIllbuzz, since the beginning. I was a Democrat for 35 years, staunch Hillary supporter, Palin fan. However, this is where I part ways, and will not be back. I live in New Mexico, a border state. Our current Governor's grandparents were illegals. This is an incredibly complex issue. I am insulted by the references to Rick Perry as someone who loves illegals. All of you that live in states that are not dealing with the issue of illegal immigration directly, but think you know all there is to know about it, can pound sand. Rick Perry signed a bill into law that was about as bipartisan as it can get. He would have been run out of Texas on a rail if he had not signed it. It would have been passed over his veto. He would have no chance of any support from Hispanics. He is on the front lines in Texas and has the largest border with Mexico. The reference to Rick Perry as an illegal immigrant lover and other such BS shows the ignorance of those here who pontificate about an issue of which you know nothing. Good riddance.

Uhm, sorry you’re insulted about us telling the truth about Rick Perry. He and the Texas legislature give preference to people who are in the country illegally versus law-abiding, taxpaying, natural-born Americans.

Feel free to find that statement of fact insulting. I find the fact insulting.

And even here in Ohio, we’re dealing with the effects of 14 to 20 MILLION ILLEGAL CRIMINAL ALIENS.

And technically, since you’re the one who is leaving, it’s up to us to say “good riddance.”

      Buh bye!

I resent the implication that non-border states don't have to deal with the problem of illegal immigration. We have huge numbers of illegals here in Georgia, and when our law enforcement agencies try to deal with the problem they get hamstrung every step of the way by the Feds. In the meantime, our hospitals and social service agencies are overburdened with the costs of treatment and handouts for these people, all of which is a burden to taxpayers and legal residents. What I hear and read about the border states is that the problem is WORSE there. I have also heard that LEGAL Hispanic immigrants don't have a problem with not allowing special treatment of illegals. So what is YOUR problem, Jere? Are you telling me that LEGAL Hispanics would not vote for Perry if he didn't give special treatment to illegals? Or that the ILLEGALS will not vote for him? I would hope that LEGAL Hispanic immigrants would be able to tell the difference.

What is so complex about the issue? Illegal aliens are here ILLEGALLY and therefore should not be supported by the LEGAL residents for this country. If Perry was just being a politician and signing a bill to get support, then good riddance to him.

Palin is not going to run. Get over it. Put away your pom-poms.

Rick Perry is enforcing the laws of the state of Texas by allowing students who are on a path to citizenship to attend schools of higher learning at in-state tuition rates. This is a practice in 14 other states,as well. The total number of these students is less than 1% of the college students in the state of Texas. He needs to articulate his position clearly and often. Alienating a huge block of citizens and potential citizens is stupid and will saddle us with 4 more years of Oblockhead. I've read this blog for a long time and don't appreciate posters tossing off crap as coda.

Rick Perry is in the perfect positon to absolutely do maximum damage to Obama on the area that Obama has staked out as his own special place: race. Educate yourselves and learn that hispanics are our best weapon to win back the White House.

Marlena is correct. Texas has a 1200 mile border with Mexico and it's not enforced by the Feds. Perry doesn't want to build a 1200 mile fence because most of that border is a river. A fence across a desert? Fine. Rivers don't like fences.

Texas has a huge number of illegal aliens. They got here across a border that''s not enforced by the Feds and they stay here because the Feds won't deport them. Texans have to make the best of a bad situation. They have chosen to offer in-state tuition to the children of illegals who (1) have spent three years in a Texas school, (2) have graduated and (3) are on a path to citizenship. In fact, any child in the U.S. can have in-state tuition in Texas if they meet those requirements. This approach may not work in other states, but it works in Texas. Thanks for listening.
