One of the bloggers under the article stressed the importance of keeping this about money, not politics.
He’s right. It’s the only way to dodge the racist or anti BO accusations. Just what O’Reilly did last night.
This whole thing seems to be getting traction.

          Sharon,

Don`t feel bad. Conservatives are just as disappointed in their leadership. The conservatives in congress and the senate are “gutless wonders.”

That`s why the base loved Palin. She had more balls than all of the men in the Republican party put together, except for Dick Cheney.

That`s why they both get bashed. Because they are effective.

There is a 2 party system in this country for a purpose, duh!

I’d like to know the real reason why they’ve been asked to get a permit. Maybe they are running a more of a church than a “Bible study group”. I live across the street from a family of talented musicians who regularly have many friends in to listen to them play. Parking on our street for other residents and their guests is impossible on the evenings they do this. Are they just having a few friends over, or are they doing “concerts”? I like them and their music, and I have a big driveway so I really don’t care, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of my other neighbors complain.

This is being discussed on a Christian blog I frequent. Apparently, the issue was parking.

On the typical suburban cul de sac 8 or 10 extra cars are likely to annoy the neighbros. I have no idea how many cars were there, but can imagine the neighbors were not particularly thrilled if the Bible study was held on a regular basis.

The point this blog is making is that we should be considerate of our neighbors.

I agree that we as Christians should be considerate of others simply for common decency sake, but also because there may be some who are antagonistic. This group had been meeting at this location for 5 years without complaint. Even a neighbor stated that their family has a group meeting at their home on a regular basis.

The main concern is this group being labeled a church when it is only a bible study. The official’s questions were inappropriate because they were singling them out as Christian or religious. If this was a non-religious group then they would not need a land use permit?

The video clip shows the front of the house and there is room for parking on the homeowners property, though it does occasionally fill up and some park on the street.

But if this is a safety issue, why are the homeowners being accused of being a church and required to get a permit?

If it was about fire truck access, then the group should have been told to find a solution to the parking arrangement. Why interrogate the homeowners as to what is said at their meetings?

I’m not convinced it’s a conspiracy. The fact is, most people who are experiences in running a small business, especially one like the nature of a car dealership, will be supporters of pro-business policies that Republicans favor and Democrats loathe. Therefore, the ratio of Republicans to Democrats among car dealers is going to heavily, heavily favor Republicans.

Plus there are multitudinous factors. My local Chrysler dealership is very small… probably in the bottom 25% in terms of sales volume for Chrysler. But they are keeping their dealership. My guess is because they’re the only Chrysler dealer for 30 miles, and in my area our towns are small and spread out. Their dealership is a central hub for lots of rural folks and smaller towns.

Nevertheless, it’s an interesting theory. It could certainly be possible. But what an enormous risk for the administration to purposefully take. If it could be proven, it would equate to serious corruption and there would have to be federal indictments.

I simply caution against jumping to conclusions too soon. Those articles certainly present some interesting evidence, but you’re talking about a few select examples out of thousands of dealers in hundreds of geographical areas.

The REAL story here is that these dealers – most of whom have toiled for years building a business around Chrysler – are being tossed to the curb so casually (thereby destroying the value of their business as well as their source of income) while the united auto workers union is being given tremendously disproportionate consideration.

I know it sounds a little cold, by why is there so much effort to preserve the wages and retirement packages through benefit-for-equity swaps for jobs that could be performed for much less – especially in this labor-rich economy? And why are they so anxious to close down dealers? How expensive is it for Chrysler to have one additional dealer?

It seems the government is doing the OPPOSITE of what makes sense.

When does what the government do ever make sense? The government makes a mess of whatever it does ~except the Military~. That’s why the government shouldn’t be in the auto business, health care, financial or any other business. The private sector does it better.

There have even been some cases where private sector has taken over emergency services like ambulance and fire protection, and it turns out there’s no drop in service (better in some cases) but a jump in efficiency.

Anyway… the government RARELY does things the “right” way, but usually they don’t get it THIS wrong. Usually they’re anywhere from 50 to 90 degrees to the left or right of correct (IMHO), whereas here they’re 180 degrees.

In the 90s there was a move toward privatization in a lot of government services. One of the biggest industries that turned to privatization was prisons. The idea is that the government can’t do everything well but if they find the best providers to deliver the services and pay for them it will end up being a lot less expensive. It is interesting how the government has gone so far from doing this and thinking that they can do everything well.

I’m hearing rumblings that all censuses will be “long-form” now, anyone else heard this? I was selected for the long-form back in the 90s, its really invasive.

    The question is:

If a “census taker” comes to your door, what do you do?

If you ask them “Are you with ACORN?” and they say yes, what do you do.

Can we tell them to get the hell off our lawns without the Brownshirts coming for us?

As a small business owner, I received a “Survey of Business Owners and Self-Employed Persons.” Odd thing is that it’s titled “2007″ (gov’t always behind?) Originated from Dept. of Commerce, Census Bureau.

      Things they wanted to know:

      * Exactly who owns
      * How did I obtain my startup money
      * Dollar amount of startup capital
      * Day to day functions of “owner”
      * Sex & race of owner
      * Number of hours spent in business
      * “Type” of customer (fed. gov’t, state/local gov’t, other businesses, individuals)
      * Percentage of total sales “exported”
      * Any e-commerce sales? Percentage?
      * Language in which business conducted
      * Number of employees
      * Do I make purchases online?

In 12 years, this is the first time I’ve seen this, although it’s labeled “random.”

My thoughts—sneaky way of finding out how much of my business is conducted over the Internet. About half of my sales are online thru ebay and thus tax exempt (with the exception of customers who live in my state).

Just read that Internet sales tax is looming big in BO’s plans to raise revenue. So would that be in ADDITION & ON TOP OF any proposed Universal Sales Tax or VAT?

In Europe, hasn’t VAT replaced income tax? Methinks BO will never dismantle the IRS, and will simply institute layers & layers of new taxes. Printing money hasn’t worked, so the only other option is raising taxes or cutting spending—yeah, right!

Filled it out and returned because it said: “YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW. Title 13, United States Code, requires businesses and other organizations that receive this questionnaire to answer the questions and return the report to the US Census Bureau.” Talked to our lawyer & he said it’s routine.

I’m a hole in the wall, Tammy. And I’ve filed income tax returns every year I’ve been in business (1997). Rather than targeting me personally, I think they’re fishing for statistics to justify imposing Internet tax.

Globe Magazine has a new cover story
    detailing Michelle Obama’s fight to
keep the Larry Sinclair book from
    being published.

What a shame that the media can’t investigate the death of Donald Young. Was is tied
to Obama? We won’t know unless there’s an
    investigation.

Did Obama have sex and do coke with Sinclair?

We won’t know unless the press investigates.

Read Larry Sinclair’s book for yourself, coming out this month. Don’t let Michelle
    Obama censor this info.

If they wanted to deny any of this, they
would have done so months ago, but there
has never been any public denial, just
    behind the scenes machinations.

I think Dick is correct. Hillary has less power in her own cabinet than past SOS for the reasons Dick Morris mentioned. I think good poll numbers reflect the public seeing how she’d been incredibly used and taken advantage of. I hope she ditches that post and runs against him in 2012 but it might be too late for her then. She needs to cut out now to minimize damage by association with Maobama.

So if Mitchell, Ross or Holbrooke screw something up, it’s Hillary’s fault. If they don’t, then it’s nobody’s fault. If they do great things, it’s because of the genius of Obama.

The Obama Justice Department. Voter intimidation is okey dokey. It’s only fair. Black Panthers stand for the oppressed…and votes for Obama by any means necessary.

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/29/career-lawyers-overruled-on-voting-case/

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident – which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube – had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as “the most blatant form of voter intimidation” that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

The lawyers also had ascertained that one of the three men had gained access to the polling place by securing a credential as a Democratic poll watcher, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The Washington Times.

The career Justice lawyers were on the verge of securing sanctions against the men earlier this month when their superiors ordered them to reverse course, according to interviews and documents.

Take over the banking industry, the insurance industry, the automobile industry. Take health care out of the private sector. Print worthless money to ensure collapse of the monetary system. Shut up any dissenters via a version of the Fairness Doctrine. Put the Census Bureau into the Commerce Dept. to insure the numbers go your way. Pack the Supreme Court with those who will advance your political theology.

But, I think since Obama doesn’t seem to know history, he doesn’t realize one thing I have noticed with every dictatorship that developed in countries since the early 20th century. Each country had a form of one leader government, such as Russia with tsars followed by Lenin and Stalin, before the dictatorship came into being. The citizens of these countries had never had freedom and only knew some type of form of dictatorship.

I think that Obama’s plans are harmful this country and it will take time for us to recover. But, he doesn’t seem to realize that we will fight for our freedoms because we know what it means to be free!

However, the concern for me now is that our freedoms are ALREADY being eroded. The gov. has been laying groundwork for imposing on our thoughts, our wallets, our children, and on and on and on. You have only to look at the news on any given day to see dozens of examples of encroachments that would absolutely OUTRAGE the founding fathers.

The problem is that VERY FEW PEOPLE are actually outraged now! Yes, people are getting angrier and angrier, but how many more freedoms must we lose before we as a people say “enough”?

So long as we remain largely complacent with government encroachment, things will just continue to get worse. It’s incrementalism.

It would take everyone and I mean everyone in the media to turn against him, and pound on and on about the dangerous road he is taking us on. What is funny is that Philadelphia hasn’t voted Republican in 40 years, and the chances of anyone in the vicinity of that polling place voting for anyone but Obama, was non existent? Consider this. Documents from the census bureau show they are allowing ACORN to be heavily involved in the census; however, they also list the types of organizations ineligible for partnering with the U.S. Census. They include: “…Hate groups, Law enforcement, anti-immigrant groups, any groups that might make people fearful of participating in the Census…”

” The release of these Obama Commerce Department documents comes in the wake of an Obama Department of Homeland Security report released in April linking opposition to illegal immigration to “rightwing extremist radicalization.”

Everyone in Chicago seems to be atwitter about the UIUC admissions scandal that the Chicago Tribune uncovered. Apparently, UIUC admissions slots are being treated like patronage jobs in Chicago for some students (i.e. sold to the highest bidder). I must say that I have two reactions. First, it’s nice to see the Trib do some actual reporting and not spend all its time kissing up to Obama. And second as a UIUC alum (hence the name), I’m very angry about the whole situation. Considering the political climate in the state, I know this shouldn’t shock me but it still angers me to see it spelled out in such clear detail.

Well, they do, and they would like to see all of his other records as well – school, work, medical – he is the most untransparent President ever. Can anyone anymore NOT believe that the long-rang plan of Obama is the *total* take-over of *everything* in this country, the country itself – the likes of which the world hasn’t seen since Germany??? And the name of the game to get it accomplished is to “neutralize” anyone & everyone who will get in the way. I was shocked when I read this article on how the Clinton’s have been neutralized. http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/2009/05/28/the-incredible-shrinking-clintons/

I’d never looked at it quite this way but it makes sense when you look at the “busy work” Hillary is assigned but little if any “heavy lifting.” Keep your friends close & your enimies closer. BO has both Bill & Hill right where he wants them – where they are of basically no consequence and are no more of a bother to him than a feather tickling his nose. Whisk it away. Voila! With all the main entities of this country neutralized the next group is the citizenry itself – by taking away gun rights. Enter the new SCOTUS nominee! I never realized before how the mustached, goose stepper in Germany could take over an entire country with no one making a peep. I see it all too clearly now. Very scary stuff, folks!!!

Glenn Beck & others are saying the 2010 elections next year are key.

Yes, we know the MSM won’t give any positive publicity to good, conservative/libertarian candidates. But that’s where the 9/12′ers & other organizations come in. And we on this board will have to be informed ambassadors to convert as many as possible. If your local GOP “gets it” and is on fire, join them. If not, write letters to your editor, display a pithy sign on your yard, etc.

In my earlier post to noodle, I enumerated all BO’s Take-overs. I would suggest committing those to memory or jotting them down to have as proof. When speaking to others, you need to be an impressive, informed citizen. “Each one reach one” is a good model.

Tammy & NeeNee – I was at our local Tea Party (8,000 strong!) and I am a 9-12′er, belong to my state’s Patriotic Resistance plus I follow this blog, American Thinker, Powerline blog and several others faithfully. Seems I’m doing all I can at this point other than waiting for the 2010 vote to come around. Like Tammy, I worry about the unthinkable strides that the BO Admin. has made in 4 months and cringe at where we will be 2 yrs from now. I pray that it *won’t* be too late by then. Again I think of Germany – I bet those people thought they had more time too. But the “machine” marched much faster & more diabalically than anyone could have imagined. If we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. I’m reading “The 5000 Year Leap” – what an eye-opener about the wisdom went into the birth of this nation. What the Founders worried about then are the things we’re facing right now. I was particulary struck to learn that 1 of the greatest fears the Founders had was that one of the main things that could destroy our/any country was the lack of *virtue*. Proverbs 29:2 was quotedas a favorite of the time they lived in:” When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” I submit that we are in mourning!

Lawyers Tag Sotomayor as Terror on the Bench

Lawyers who have argued cases before Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor call her “nasty,” “angry” and a “terror on the bench,” according to the current Almanac of the Federal Judiciary – a kind of Zagat’s guide to federal judges.

The withering evaluation of Judge Sotomayor’s temperament stands in stark contrast to reviews of her peers on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Of the 21 judges evaluated, the same lawyers gave 18 positive to glowing reviews and two judges received mixed reviews. Judge Sotomayor was the only one to receive decidedly negative comments.

The author of this article you have posted is confusing me – the author says “stark contrast”, and yet both the lawyer comments about her and the judge evaluations seem to come to the same conclusion about her temperament….?

I think it reads “evaluation of Judge Sotomayor’s temperament stands in stark contrast to reviews of her peers.”

They’re saying it’s a stark contrast that her PEERS received overall good evaluations while SOTOMAYOR got negative.

And they find it strange that her ABILITY marks are very high, but she doesn’t seem to have the temperament to translate her knowledge.

FINALLY! President Bush speaks out while in Detroit (Sidebar: only 8 people showed up to protest. Hmmm….)

Former President George W. Bush today defended his decision to use harsh interrogation Thursday, saying it was cleared by his lawyers to prevent what his advisors believed was another, imminent attack.

“I made a decision within the law to get information so I can say, I’ve done what it takes to do my duty to protect the American people,” he said. “I can tell you, the information gained saved lives,” according to the Detroit Free Press.

What’s on my mind? Well… lots of things, having to do with my Faith, Prop 8., Gay Marriage, California, all from my own single-person perspective.

First of all, love this blog! Thanks to Hillbuzz for keeping it up. Though I don’t post much I do read every day and I appreciate the comments here. Even though we disagree there is no name calling which is refreshing and grown up.

I’m a woman, I live in CA, I’m 40. Back in my teens and in the ’80′s my favorite place to hang was West Hollywood. Yes, I was a “Fag-Hag” (but fairy-princess is a sooo much nicer term) I also was Bi-sexual. I would say the “reason” was it was fun and apparently my parts work, so when my parts were stimulated in the proper way,….WHOOO HOOOO!!! Back in the ’80′s if you sat around with a bunch of Gay’s (mostly men, yes, I really didn’t like lesbians very much as their company was angry mostly, and all I wanted was to go dancing and have a wonderful time. Not get involved with what ever it was that made them so…I don’t know…un-fun/serious.) So, where was I, back in the 80′s if you sat around with a bunch of Gay men, they would often say things like, “I’m Gay because_______” and the story which ensued was 97% of the time because some person was *very* abusive and took advantage of trust and or love, or flat out fear. Back then there was anger, tears and frustration over the pain/abuse and by extention the life being lived.

I think the landscape has changed. Although I really don’t know what types of stories would be told by Gay men 20+ years later. I think society has changed enough for young people to find out their parts work without first being abused.

So, roll the clock forward. I’m married with 3 children. I’m a Christ-Follower now.

Am I against “Gay-Marriage” …yes. And I tell you it’s because it’s EXACTLY what and why Hillbuzz is saying. It’s the definition of the word. Essentially in my mind prop 8 was over the definition of a word. It also has to do with spiritual ramifications and implications but here, now, something to be touched felt…Prop 8 defined a word. If you can strip away all emotion, read the text of the bill: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” shall be added to the California Constitution…

Here in CA we have everything Hillbuzz is talking about, do I think it’s RIGHT? Yes, I do. Am I “in favor” of it, or “for” it? Morally? Nope. I wish society were different.( In exactly the same way other reasoning people who disagree with my morals wish society were different. )

I’m writing for many reasons, not the least of which is to sort out my thoughts. And hopefully to bring insight to what the emerging Church in America is thinking/ teaching…and believe me I’m fully aware this is the minority view in the Church but most of the faithful young people are holding this view and as such you will definitely see a shift in how the church is viewed some 20 years from now. Yes, the emerging Church still says Homosexuality is a sin. But the eC is no longer “homophobic”. The eC doesn’t single one sin above another and apply a special sort of hate to it. Instead the eC is more interested in sharing the acts of Jesus with a world who doesn’t know Him. There are so many in the urban mission field- a new sort of evangelist, ones who “talk” about Jesus with their hands, more than their words. And when they do talk about Jesus, they talk about Jesus. Not “*your* sin”.

The eC will speak about the pain and abuse that surrounds Homosexuals.- Which I have to admit, from *my* perspective, that was true- That in order to introduce (not “get them *saved* “) a homosexual to Jesus you do it with love, compassion and understanding and sesitivity to the pain in their life. {!Ha! 2000 years later, someone is catching on!!! isn’t this HOW Jesus showed us to do it??? Jeez, yes, o.k we’re a little slow.} …and all the rest…ALL the rest…is something that is up to God and the individual. This is not a new marketing technique, it is not a ‘revamp’ of an old image. It really is a different sort of Christianity where people put their faith into action, and their actions are ones of love and concern. I wish the whole Church of America could/would be this good and noble. I am fully aware our image is not good, we have done the tarnishing, we are fully responsible for the foul things that have been done in the “name of Jesus”.
It falls to Christians to correct the misdeeds, to repair what is broken, and to change our image from within. God willing we will do so, and I pray that the public will see the difference.

…so…that’s what’s on my mind today.

I didn’t get a chance to read it and now it is gone!!!

One of the women in his ad is from where I am from, she was a poor single mom yet she was able to get her nails done (she had nicely manicured acrylics in the ad)and send her child to an expensive private school (guess public schools aren’t good enough for her).

Brent Scowcroft, former national security advisor, said the North Korean latest nuclear test appears to have settled a debate.

Is North Korea’s goal to become a nuclear state?

Or does it just want to trade its nuclear program for economic benefits and security guarantees?

“Now it looks like that is becoming clearer, and THEIR GOAL IS TO BECOME A NUCLEAR WEAPONS STATE. I think that makes a big difference in the Chinese attitude, for example,” Scowcraft said.

Today I had to set a work colleague straight about Sarah Palin (this woman laughed at me when I said the best thing to come out of the campaign was Sarah Palin.

Gosh I miss Sarah. Right now I’m replaying the video of her speech accepting the VP nomination. 2012 can’t come soon enough.

Speaking of Governor Palin, today she called out Obama on missile defense and North Korea:

If you’ll recall, the HillBuzz smarties kept writing that Steven Chu was completely wrong for Global Warming Czar … or whatever the hell his title is. Now validation from another of my fav blogs: Warning, Denny gets a little “earthy.” Part of his charm, I say. Read it and laugh.

Uh, probably ought to tell you that “AOTW” stands for “A–hole of the Week.” Denny awards it to only the most deserving recipients … and he has a limitless supply of nominees.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/05/29/who-pressured-justice-to-drop-case-against-vote-intimidation-in-philly/

O’Reilly had a guest, Mr. Bull, a civil rights attorney and former publisher of the Village Voice (that’s what they Chyron said, anyway), who has his bona fides as a liberal who is outraged that AG Holder dismissed charges against these New Black Panthers for voter intimidation. Read it. It is pretty shocking and very upsetting. ACORN to the 10th power.

      Jo, Thanks. OMG.
I did not know they already decided the case. This is serious stuff. Is it ever going to end?

“This looks significantly more like politicization of outcomes that anything alleged during the Bush administration, especially since the DoJ already won the case. In fact, the government had prepared arguments for penalties against the men as late as May 5th, before the political commissars under Attorney General Eric Holder ordered them to withdraw.”

Thank you. I will call the numbers they left at the bottom of the article.

Mr. Bull also tied this up with ACORN activity. This was a very compelling segment. It gave me some hope.

I saw this same segment and it was great the way this former campaign mgr for Bobby Kennedy & civil rights lawyer went after Holder and basically BO. O’Reily asked why he thought Holder did this and Mr. Bull replied that he believed it was purely political, implying by BO. O’Reily asked if he meant that Obama was involved and Bull said “he hired Holder!” Implication was there that if Holder did this, it was by BO’s orders. Mr. Bull ended the segment by saying that he couldn’t believe that MLK had died so that “jack-booted thugs could block the doors to a polling place”! Well said!!!

Yes they really DO “want to pry into your gay lives”. The only “knee-jerk reaction” they have is of DISGUST when they think about two gay men having anal sex. They would use other words to describe it.

Straight men tell gay men one thing to their face but what straight men tell women about gay men is that they find mens sex revolting and it offends them. They associate it with feces and make degrading jokes about gay men preying on them. They talk about how gay men spread and die AIDS. They think that is your punishment for being gay because you are deviant and filthy. That’s why they don’t want you in their churches near thier children, because they think you are a less than human predator. Equivalent to a murderer or junky, things of this nature. They don’t really care if you act “too weird” like you call Adam Lambert, or if you are a bear, or if you look like a guy that spends 5 hours a day in the gym. They think you are vile, beneath them and find your life is the butt of a joke. They don’t care if you need your partners health insurance because you’re dying, they figure in their minds that you are probably got AIDS and God is punishing you.

Yes, Democrats did it. You only note blacks and completely omit the caucasians, hispanics and asian, religious conservative zealot democrats and right wing relgious republicans that voted for Prop 8. Which you really don’t care about bc you don’t want “gay marriage” anyway so other than bringing Prop 8 up to target blacks, you are not really making a point, only race baiting like the rest of the pathetic divisive gay community.
Marriage is going to and IS happening regardless of the self-hating bend-over sabatuers like you and Joe Solomenese. With no help from you it’s is happening. Get used to it. Just because you hate yourself doesn’t mean you will bring a whole community down to keep you company in your misery. So live in your fantasy world that straight men and religious men don’t have any problem with YOU because YOU’RE so special and if all gays were more like YOU the the stragiths would love us. Narcissism is a childish and selfish bi-product of gay male culture. Tsk tsk.
