First Ladies Update: October 20th, 2009

Posted on October 20, 2009 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Here’s something new we’re starting here, hopefully on a daily basis: a thread dedicated to what the current and former First Ladies of the United States are up to. If you have any info on the whereabouts and activities of Betty Ford, Rosalyn Carter, Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Laura Bush, or the current First Lady, post the links here.

Hillary Clinton, to us, graduated from former First Lady into her own special sphere, as we see her now as Secretary of State and former Senator more than as a former FLOTUS.  She will always be a former FLOTUS, obviously, but at this point in her life she’s already exceeded Eleanor Roosevelt as the most accomplished and hardest-working former FLOTUS this nation has ever had.

Whether you like the woman or not, you have to give her that.  We happen to adore her…and look forward to many more years of HRC on the national scene, every day building more of a legacy for herself, waking up each morning to make this nation better and stronger (and, currently, doing her level best to be the one voice of reason and grown-up sensibility in an administration bespotted with itself and completely out of control).

So, what are the FLOTUSes up to?

The Current First Lady: Here’s an interesting read from SybillSpeaks, regarding Mrs. Utopia’s crusade against junk food (something that, we’re sure, could positively destroy her friendship with bestie “chit chat buddy” Oprah, Lake Michigan’s own Charybdis). Apparently, Mrs. Utopia wants her face put on McDonald’s wrappers and cups, warning people not to eat so much.  So THAT explains her fashion choices.  All along we thought they were just hideous lapses in judgment, but here they were nobel attempts at appetite suppressants. Somewhere, Norwegians are already scrambling to hand out the prizes.

Jackie Kennedy: According to all seismic data available, she’s still rolling in her grave at a steady pace, due to the MSM’s constant insistence that vintage Givenchy and Chanel is in any way reminiscent of Jason Wu coffee filter dresses or frocks made from couch upholstery.

Barbara Bush: Check out this article on WowOwoW and see how it takes a potshot at Barbara Bush, calling her “Marie Antoinette” for making remarks after Hurricane Katrina the Left enjoys hammering her on.  Now, take in the silence punctuated by the sound of crickets in terms of the same media ever talking about the things that come out of our current First Lady’s mouth.  Like how, twice in one day in Wisconsin during the 2008 primaries, she insisted she was proud of her country for the first time only because she and her husband were winning things and getting lots of attention.  Or, how about when she ridiculed the Bush tax rebates by saying, “$600 can’t even buy me earrings”. Then there’s the disaster that is the current First Lady’s “organic garden” on the White House lawn — a garden much ballyhooed and trumpeted that’s completely ignored by the media now.  Why?  Because the arugula’s not growing, and the whole plot’s not considered actually organic because the land it’s planted on is riddled with chemicals and who-knows-what the current First Lady’s crackerjack team didn’t bother to sort out before declaring themselves “100% green and organic”.  Sounds a little like a certain Petit Hameau that proved an inauthentic embarrassment for the real Marie Antoinette — who actually probably would have thought $600 was a lot to spend on earrings and was never as bad as people made her out to be. AND, we must note, was proud of her adopted country each and every day until the very end.

Laura Bush: h/t  LandmarkSocietyWNY Laura Bush was the speaker at the annual Advocacy Luncheon; she talked about the Preserve America and Save America’s Treasures programs, which she championed as First Lady. She told the assembled preservationists, “Whatever you’re doing, you’re making sure that future generations of Americans can enjoy the natural and historic treasures of our nation.”

Michelle Obama’s face on a food wrapper or soda cup–that’s enough to make you throw up! You’re right–talk about an appetite suppressant.

I think MO is just trying to find something to do with her monstrous self, but doggone it, stay away from America’s hamburgers–which judging from the size of her hips, she doesn’t.

She doesn’t have the quiet authority of Barbara Bush. She can’t do literacy like Laura Bush, or just say no to drugs like Nancy Reagan (gotta keep her black democratic base ignorant), she’s failing miserably at the Jackie O references–in style and grace. And she can’t hold a candle to Hillary.

I wish she would just wrap herself in that hideous Jason Wu toilet paper dress and flush.

When will everyone get it: The Obama do not care about America, anything American, or wanting to do any good to help anyone here (not even the african americans they conned/used so well during the past election). They only care about redistributing our wealth to foreign governments and people in Kenya, Africa, Libya, and other places that hate us and are our enemies.

I happen to like McDonald’s a lot (love their french fries), but if MO’s face is anywhere within 5000 feet of any of their restaurants, I will not set foot in a McDonald’s again (and write them many many letters of protest and probably pay to have their CEO’s head examined)!

So they are going to ruin my McDonald’s economic recovery package?

Short of winning the PowerBall, MickeyDee’s Monopoly Game is about the only ‘hope’ many of us see on the horizon. Just damn…here comes Mrs. Utopia (will the warning stickers show her ‘toned arms?’)

All kidding aside, if you have their Deluxe burgers in your market…try them! Really, really good (like Red Robin) but cheaper! (McDs is our ‘big’ dining out experience these days).

Just wondering…isn’t it true that Obama doesn’t celebrate Christmas? So will there be a national Christmas tree this year? Don’t know why…that thought just popped into my head..

Maybe because FLOTUS is usually involved in that process somewhat and helps decorate the White House…

Well, she did dump green dye in the WH fountain for St Patty’s day, and we know they’re not Irish :)

I can’t imagine the White House without a Christmas tree, we support the WH Historical Society and their big moneymaker is the annual ornament….we give them out as gifts every year and have already received our 2009 order!

I was so happy to see Christmas on it :) It’s still “our” house !

The ornament is very nice, but it worries me. Obama seems to be a master of deceit and cover up. He pretends “all is well”, nothing has changed, see, you can point to this very traditional, non-threatening ornament and think you are safe. However, beneath it all (CZARS CZARS CZARS who are running this country) are anything but non-threatening and Obama and his marxist/socialist/far left agenda is being plotted planned and in the works to be carried out. We should not be fooled by this sweetness and light coming from the WH. Sorry, but that’s my thought for the day.

Funny Stacee, I was just having the same conversation with friends recently. Well, Obama did say that America was not a Christian nation, so it will be interesting to see what happens. My guess is that some kind of way, he is going to try to fit Islam into the mix and try to make us all accept it. Good luck with that one buddy. Remember, he skipped out on Easter so I don’t think we can expect much for Christmas.

I think of Hillary nearly everyday. What she has gone through to get where she is today. What she went through in hopes of being president today. When I feel sh!tty, and don’t want to get up and go, I remember all the days during the campaign when she knew it was stolen from her, but she got up and went on with her fight. I have never respected a politician more than I do Hillary. No matter ones politics, it’s hard not to feel inspired by this woman everyday of our lives. She gained a lot of respect from a wide range of people in those long months, and she deserves every bit of our respect and admiration.

Michl,I so agree with you.She kept on going after all the pundits and Obots told her to quit. She took so much abuse and she just smiled and kept her head up and showed what class was all about. The woman is a work horse. She lost her voice so many times. She went to 5 or 6 campaign rallies every day.She rarely took a day off.She cleaned all the men’s clocks in every single debate and she ran circles around Barky who had to have a vacation every week or so.She is just the most tireless and dedicated politician I know.I get inspiration from her.She is my shero.Love her to pieces.
