Fascinating new development in Democrat Civil War: Leftists are pushing extreme candidates in primaries
Here’s a really great read by Kimberly Strassel in the Wall Street Journal on an aspect of the Democrats’ Civil War we have not considered before: the Left pushing extreme candidates in the primaries to take out more moderate incumbent Democrats.
The Left wants Dr. Utopia and his band of loons in Washington to go even FURTHER Left, into full-blown socialist mode, while the country is waking up to the fact that the crazy things Democrats have done since taking power in 2009 are more than enough…and all need to be repealed themselves.
This is going to be an absolute disaster for the Democrat Party. We do not bemoan that in the slightest. But it’s becoming increasingly clear that Democrats appear to have no idea at all what’s happening to them. They do not seem to realize their brand is diametrically out of synch with what the voting public wants. The more the nutroots and the Lefties push the party, the more it falls completely off the cliff.
We’ve been focused on the Civil War that’s going to come the week after Election Day in November, because that’s when we’ve long assumed things would get really interesting. After the titanic loss the Democrats will suffer, there will be a week or so where the Lamestream Media won’t know quite what to say. Keith Olbermann will still be recovering from his stroke. Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper, so stunned by the experience, could both turn straight and fall in love. Chris Matthews will be tingling head to toe, wetting himself, screaming for his mommy in a world, to him, turned upside down and gone insane.
There will be a lot of finger pointing, and circular firing squads, and sometime a week or so after all of this we believe the moderate Democrats, the Clintonian/Jacksonian Democrats, who were pushed out of the party in 2008 by Howard Dean and Donna Brazile, will attempt to stage a coup and take back the party from the Leftists.
Normally, we’d be right there with them…trying to save the Democrat Party and restore it to Clintonian Centrism.
But, honestly, we’re not going to help salvage this lost cause.
Under the Obama banner, Democrats have done far too much harm to this country for us to ever help them again — with anything.
They have lost us for life.
That happened on Christmas Eve when every Democrat in the Senate voted for Obamacare without even reading the bill — when the Congressional Budget Office was telling them it needed more time to calculate the damage this would do to the economy, but the Democrats were in too big of a rush to pass something they didn’t understand before Christmas, just to pass it so they could enjoy their suckled goose and candied hams. Fa la la la la. Now, the COB says Obamacare will drain the Treasury by another $118 BILLION. Every day, there is a new surprise with this monstrosity. Fu fu fu fu-uck you.
There should not have been a vote on Christmas Eve. Democrats should not have handled something so important in such a reckless manner. These people do not deserve to be in elected office and must all be voted out in November, in 2012, and in 2014 until every last one of them has been driven out of Washington.
We honestly don’t think we could help take back the party even if the Clintons returned to carry the standard and personally asked us to join the fight. We think we’d have to say no, even to them.
No one affiliated in any way with the Left should ever hold office again.
Period.

I know that has to be a hard decision to make because you were so devoted to Hillary. There’s always the hope the Clintons will realize they don’t have to be loyal to a party devoted to destroying our country.
The scary part about the DNC admitting its socialist agenda is that it reveals something. They are admitting that the economy is going to be driven into the ground. They are banking on people becoming so desperate they will WANT the government to rescue them. It will most certainly backfire on them. I would eat weeds in my backyward before I would ask the government take care of me and I think most people feel the same. If the economy tanks the DNC will be thrown out on their ear so fast they won’t know what hit them. Don’t worry about having to switch to the Republican party! The DNC won’t see the light of day again in our life time.

Count me as one of the weed eaters too Karen! At least I’ll be the one making those decisions and not the government. For a party supposedly so in far of a “woman’s right to choose”, they are certainly doing everything to do away with many of our personal freedoms.
Of course these Leftists will all try to move to the center of the general election, and the LSM will help them by NOT replaying all of their support of the Leftist agenda. So again, it’s going to be up to us to talk to anyone and everyone to make sure they put the Kool Aid down and embrace the green of weeds!

You’re right. It’s supposed to be “WE the people” and not “ME the president” or “we in congress” telling the people what to do.
They pushed through an unpopular bill that polled very badly, ruling against the will of the people. These are not true Democrats, who are for the people. They took the name and are using it, while they ignore the people and their wishes.

I really do believe that there is a large group in the DNC that thinks the voters are disgruntled because they didnt drive harder, faster, deeper legislation supporting even further left issues.

There was a whole school of thought that modern civilization and the USA in particular had a very sickened and extended adolescent time frame. The actual assumption of adult life, adult duties and adult obligations has happened later and later and later…now finding 40 and 50 somethings that still have not grown up in the former sense of the word. I used to think it was a tad on the extreme side…but now I do not think so at all.

Duh, I just figured out the crux or the problem-I the Obama v/s WE THE PEOPLE. I hated during the campaign that the press acted like Obama was the only candidate-I wanted to hear what John Edwards, Sarah Palin, John McCain, Hillary had to say-it was all about Obama, all the time-and he is so boring, stupid, inept and incompetent and that’s the superlatives.
If the Dems think even if they created miracles at this late date that the American people are going to “forgive” them and what they have done to the country and their fellow Americans for the sake of their insane “agenda” they are out of their minds. Most disgusting power mad, insane crazy people let loose on an unsuspecting public who are much smarter and more aware than ever before. DNC installed that fool they should all go down together, hopefully to never be seen or heard from again. I think most Dems will vote Republican-he just has his way wacky base.
I agree 100%. I am from a long line of Democrats, but not like this current crop. My family believed in country, family, and God while voting Democratically for the good of the “little guy”. I voted for Clinton twice and GW twice, but I will never ever vote Democrat again. Simply stated, they can not be trusted to govern. They were given an opportunity and abused it in ways that make me sick to my stomach and scared for my family. How far left have they gone? Well JFK and Truman would be drummed out of the party if they were alive today. Eactly!! Even though I am a registered Republican, I have many times voted for decent Democrats over the years that support the America that used to be. There are just as many nutcase “progressive” (socialist) Republicans such as Graham and his bunch of groupies as there are Democrats. They must all go in order to save this country.

Another thing I am reading in this article is that since MoveOn.org and SEIU are funding these challenges and draining the moderate’s funds in the primaries. There is no mention of DNC help for incumbents, while Obama’s pals take them to the woodshed.
So are we seeing the threats to Clinton Dems during the primaries that Stephanie Tubbs-Jones spoke about finally being implemented? Not to mention the threats they spewed over the stimulus and health care bills.

We need to look back at the Bill Clinton first two years more carefully to determine the direction they really wanted to go while they have a D congress…. and, unless I’m mistaken here, those first two years were ones of leftist policies. It was only after the R’s took over the congress (which was BECAUSE of the leftist policies) that Bill – savvy politician that he is- understood he’d have no legacy at all unless he tacked to the center. So… unless I’m mistaken here… the Clinton’s were not centrist, but leftist, when they had a leftist congress to support their agenda.
Although I will admit they certainly ARE less to the left than O is, I wouldn’t necessarily call them “centrist”.

We have a lot of them out by us in Wisconsin. There is a nature center in my area that has them nesting there….
They are huge. They could fly off with a small goat if they wanted to.
We also have hawks. We’ve lost a few small pets in backyards unfortunately…. my neighbor saw one hawk diving at her cat outside and just managed to scoop up the cat before the hawk got it…

Like Hillary said, those terms have been turned around on their head for decades. It has changed several times within my lifetime and probably means different things to people across the country or within a family.
Even within the short time period between this debate and the Glenn Beck show it has changed some more. And realize that by discounting the liberal label she was in fact stepping to the right of them. It is a bold statement that she made with that move and one that I cheered at the time.
In reality, her whole platform wasn’t based on the usual pander to the left within the primary and then run to right for the general election platform. It was a general election platform from the start. Which also pissed them off.
However, the instant rise of the left against Hillary through MoveOn.org, the Daily Kos, Huff Po sheds some light on this liberal label too.
It was largely based on the fact the leftists (progressives, liberals, or whatever) were all livid at The Third Way, triangulation, welfare reform, etc, etc. And always howled that Bill Clinton wasn’t liberal enough even when he was in office. The final dealbreaker on Hillary was her Iraq vote thus proving she wasn’t a liberal dove like them, but indeed like her husband, a centrist hawk and would bomb the shit out someone (Iraq or Iran) if needed. Nor was she going to apologize for standing up to international threats. Which also drove them batty.
But she was done on the leftist side long before that vote for just being a Clinton.
Also most people forget that the media hated Bill and Hillary Clinton for being southern hicks. Sound familiar? The media never let up on either of them no matter how small, large, true, or false the scandal.
While the MSM sold Obama from long before he ran for president and have barely scratched the surface of the scandals and mysteries he has surrounding him. Except to be used a tool to ridicule or smear his detractors.
Also what is one of the first things Obama did while in office? Undo the Clinton welfare reform. And despite what Republicans want to believe. Clinton ran for office on welfare reform. It wasn’t just the product of losing Congress. It was on his campaign platform and he sold it to the people before a Rep Congress was in power.

What makes them think any of us is going to vote for loony leftists? Last election, I looked at the Republicans running in my district and it was pretty obvious from the start that they were loony, so I didn’t bother to vote for them.

Re eating weeds early on in the discussion, 2 years ago we put in 20 bare root fruit trees ($8 ea.). Last year we got a couple of buckets of fruit…this year, we had to prune and thin dramatically all the stone fruit since most trees are so heavy with fruit. We have a smidge less than an acre, but even with a small yard you could probably get 6 fruit trees in. There’s always plenty of neighbors could use some of the surplus.

This is kind of an aside but, isn’t the WSJ great? I used to read the WaPo, The NYTimes and the Economist, but feel like WSJ beats them all flat in every way. Plus, did you know WSJ is going after the NY Times local market share? Ha!
Yup. WSJ is the only “big” paper out there that adds any sense of rationality to the mix. Once in a while a WaPo article comes out, like maybe once every 2 months or so, that doesn’t reak of hopium, but it is largely trash.

I know Soros and SEIU planned to run a progressive against Rep Heath Shuler in NC. He is a Democrat that voted against all of Nancy Pelosi’s crazy ideas. I saw yesterday where Shuler won his primary with 65%. He lives in a conservative district of NC.
I live in that conservative distric of NC, and we were shocked that Schuler won with 65%. People here are furious with him because of his vote on Cap and Trade. Our Tea Party group has his number, and he may very well lose in Nov.
Sure hope that plan works out. There are no moderate Democrats. They cannot be trusted to do the “right” thing.

My sentiments exactly! I am an independent and have supported many Democratic candidates. But not anymore. Actually looking at the DNC now I regret every supporting them. That said, it became apparent to me around 2005-2006 that they were swinging too far to the left. My fear is that enough people won’t wake up and they will be reelected. For governor, Strickland is also thrilled with his opponent. Kasich has worked for Lehman Bros. So, here we go, basically running against the “BUSH” era and those evil bankers, of which he calls Kasich to be. Guess it’s all Bush & Kasich’s fault now.
So what should we be remembering instead of their political speech crap? Remember how the state has gone downhill under Strickland, high unemployment and higher taxes, how he wants all the Federal unfunded money he can get. (As if we don’t pay for Federal money, it’s all free, and the feds have it, and if they don’t have it, they’ll print it for us!) Don’t forget Boccieri voted FOR health care under what was presumed to be personal sweet talk from Obama himself in a White House visit close to the vote time. Actually, I do not, for one minute, believe he ever intended to vote NO on it based upon how he “sounded” when he talked. I could hear it even though he wouldn’t flat out say it. He saw the wheeling and dealing of other congressmen so he held out to try to get something from Obama for his vote. I think Obama promised him something, we just don’t know exactly what that is, and I’m not just talking campaigning this fall. Either that or some threatening went on to keep Boccieri in line.
So, if they don’t have a more liberal candidate, they are not running on the issues, just making demons of their opponents, calling up all the evil and wrong from a nation under Bush’s rule for 8 years. This, of course, is the liberal line of attack anyway. Demonizing and criticizing all those that do not agree with them. The issues and the truth have nothing to do with anything with today’s Democrats, just what they say & want is all that matters. Situational truth.

Hillbuzz, we’re channeling each other on this. Being a lifelong Democrat (my apologies to you all), the thought of voting for Democrats has become a repulsive thought, something like when I got drunk and extremely ill on scotch as a young person, and each time that I would think of ANY type of alcohol after that episode, my stomach would start to turn. When I think of the Democrats today, besides the psychological feeling of anger that immediately builds up inside me, I think that I am starting to get physically affected by the mere thought of them. There are times when my stomach feels like it is going to turn. What is weird about this is that even when I was pro-Democrat, I never felt this way against the Republican party. Yet, here I am still registered as a Democrat, and I find these Democrats and their party completely detestable.

I love Hillary Clinton but it’s the Dem brand that is damaged for me. I can no longer support anything related to the Democrats so unfortunately even if Hillary were try to rebuild the Dem party, I couldn’t follow her there.
