Facebook as Focus Group: Leftists believe Republicans are making Obama look bad to win 2012 election

Posted on August 2, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Being Gay, Boystown, Common Leftist Attacks, Conservativism, Debate Prep, Hillbuzz

Recently, I discovered Facebook is the single most valuable tool for mining insights into the thinking patterns (an oxymoron extraordinaire in this case) of the Left.

I monitor the postings of people here in Boystown, looking for their political conversations, to see what the meme is this week in terms of justifying the Obama presidency…or rationalizing how “The One”, as Oprah shilled him, and the false messiah, as the lamestream media built him up to be, has failed so spectacularly in delivering all that promised hopeychange unto Americans.

In the lastest exchange I came across, someone in the middle ventured into a conspiracy theory that Republicans are deliberately trying to make Obama look bad so that a GOP candidate will win the 2012 election. Sister mister, ain’t nobody out there making Obama look bad, okrrrrr. Aunt Fancy’s doing a great job of that on his own.

Here’s the exchange:

JACOBI: OK, Senate passes bill 74-26. Now, can we get back to more important matters that the federal government SHOULD be concerned about. You know, like the culture wars, prayer in schools, creationism and, wait for it, more tax cuts for the wealthy and big business. Democracy is soooooo pretty sometimes.

REESE: We elected them ;) If, by no other method, not voting or registering :)

COOP: Maybe they could focus on the 2012 budget?

JACOBI: Nah, too busy thinking about re-election next year. Why let something so important get in the way of protecting one’s own ass.

NANCY: There was a Federal project that studied monkeys on cocaine, I certainly hope that will continue.

JACOBI: Of course it will continue Nanci. The economy and intellectual curiosity of the state of Kansas depends on it.

DIZZY: the potential Republican candidates are so pathetic that the only strategy left for a Republican win in 2012 is sabotaging our country right now in an attempt to make the current president look bad… because you KNOW that a Republican president who has THAT as their only chance to win… you KNOW they are going to be competent enough president to FIX the mess being made right now. Packing for Canada…

NANCY: Oy Vay

TJ: Perhaps we can concentrate on the matter of as a people do we comsume fare to much garlic

JOHNNY: The best government money can buy :)

JACOBI: Johnny. You mean the best government we can borrow money to buy. :)

What’s fascinating in exchanges like this is that:

(1) All of the above are gay men, except for special guest star Nancy.

(2) If you read exchanges like this long enough, conservative principles emerge (not the digs on government spending and borrowing, and wasteful entitlement programs or pork)

(3) The gay community, at large, doesn’t like paying taxes for entitlement programs or pork projects that will never benefit them

(4) Hatred towards conservatives that’s ginned up by the Democrat Party deliberately keeps gays from voting Republican when its in their best interests to do so

The hate the Left pumps into politics is the wedge that divides gays from the Republican Party, when THAT is where gays should be casting their votes, since Democrats will never help gays economically prosper.

This is another great time to note that as a gay man I have always been treated better by conservatives than I have been treated by gays for being conservative.

Conservatives don’t care that I’m gay, as long as I respect fiscal responsibility and don’t believe the government is there to solve all our problems.

Gays hate me because I’m conservative, because they believe that’s what they are supposed to do, since that’s the Pavlovian response the Left has trained gays to have.

What think you?

As usual Kevin, you have hit the nail on the head. The dems/socialists/Marxists love to victimize people. That is why they always "choose" the most vulnerable inasmuch as they can be made to practice cultural warfare on their own. It doesn't matter whether that group is gay, black, latino, jewish, christian, or women. Whatever their fears are, they are exploited and used against themfor the benefit of those manipulating that group. Remember what happened in EVERY socialist/communist country such as China or Cuba and continues today in Venezuela and other hard-left-leaning parts of the world.

It's very hard to change an opinion that has been not only taught in schools & universities but has also repeated for generations and becomes the norm. It is exactly what the manipulators need to survive.

Dizzy’s comment confuses me. On one hand he says the gop is sabotaging obama who is not a muslim, but then he says they are the only ones competent enough to fix the problems obama is making.
and I have to laugh at the thinking. Duh. of course you make your opponent look bad. especially when we know obama who is not a muslim never won on his own credentials but instead made his opponents look bad but I’m feeling records and attacking where they stood. irony.

I will say one thing for the current Congress — they have brought the American people together, at least in terms of its opinion of them. #WINNING

Well! Buy me a Dodge Van and call me straight but I really think a good part of the "gay community," as you name it, IS conservative in a lot of ways. I am thinking about a number of executives I have known (before I retired, I'm 74) that seemed to me to have a decidedly conservative mindset and outlook. As they kept their social preferences to themselves, apparently, they weren't considered a part of the "greater" gay community for the most part. If one includes all who one would consider gay into this community, there would be a lot more conservatives I will bet.
And more will evolve toward conservative as it becomes more and more apparent that it is not really cool any more to be liberal. Really, folks, it isn't. Look at who you got: Nancy Lugosi, Harry Reid, the guy from Boston, Aunt Fancy (I liked Miss Thang better), Wasserthing-shultz, Jeez! My grand children are laughing.

As almost lifelong Conservatives, my wife and I have a number of gay friends and enjoy their company. None push their sexuality on us, just as we don't push ours on them. I agree with your assessment of Progressives' attitude towards any Conservative – gay, black, female. A black just can't be black if he or she is conservative. Funny how the first "black president" was white and liberal. Sarah Palin can't really be a female, certainly not a "feminist", as a conservative – that is exclusively reserved for females who rabidly support abortion at any time up to and including after the baby is born. Guess that makes Obama the first "feminist" president? And, from your commentary, the same applies to gays. You just can't be gay if you are Conservative. I guess to the typical Progressive, it's bad enough to be a white, American male and be Conservative, that's kind of expected. But to be one of the special interest groups that makes up the Democrat party and be a Conservative – now that's down right inexcusable! Keep up the great work in your support of Sarah Palin. Our country needs her.

"Miss Thang?" "Aunt Fancy?" Heh. :)

I agree that the GoP doesn't have to work to make Obama look bad. He does a very nice job all by himself and the GoP would never consider trying that, anyway. The Tea Party might, though, but all they have to do is point out the facts.

I think a lot of groups are more conservative that one might otherwise think. If all you read is the MSM then you will very likely be in the "I hate Republicans" camp, regardless of what your real principles are. I was there.

For example, my cousin is a staunch lib, until you talk with her for awhile. She's very much in the "Dems are ALL good and Rs are ALL bad camp," but once past the partisan politics she's surprisingly conservative and HATES that I told her as much. :)

Maybe she'll grow up someday, but since she's 60ish I have my doubts…

Heh. My very liberal Mother in Law took down her Obama poster after Obamacare passed. :)

I understand what you are saying because I too was an indoctrinated liberal (although my personal behavior has always been quite conservative.) If i had not volunteered for the Hillary campaign I may not have been so repulsed by the misogyny of liberal democrats that I may never have given Fox news a chance. Like many Hillary supporters I went to Fox News for election coverage. They were rewarded The Pew excellance in Journalisms rating of most fair and balanced coverage of the presidential election so there I was away from the insanity at CNN MsNBC and all the Soros sycophant networks. I learned alot about politics and American and World history. I had been deprived my entire life of a alternative point of view. The Right (I have concluded) is Right about everything. They understand the laws of nature and natures God which makes them smarter that any ivy league educated liberal I know-and I know too many!

Kevin, I belong to a crafting blog where there is an area that discusses current events. I have been reading this EXACT talking point lately. Republicans want Obama to do bad. They never gave him a chance. Republicans are obstructionists. Blah, blah, blah… I think they are using this narrative because they know that Obama policies are destroying our country, and his poll numbers are tanking. I think this proves what we all know. Obama's policies were not successful. And they know it and are trying to blame others for its failure….

However, I do not think that this is going to work. Americans are not going to vote for a guy because he is black (we did that once, and it was a disaster!) or because we feel sorry for him. (he is losing sleep ya know over our debt…) People think about their families, job security, the value of their homes, and the price of gas and food. They care about that a heck-of-a-lot more than Obama. Pity is not a good bumpersticker.

First, what could we (conservative republicans) do to stop Obama and the democrats in the first 2 years? Nothing as they had control over the Executive and both houses of congress. If Obama & the democrats look bad it is their own doing. Even today, us conservatives control 1 house while the democrats have the senate and the executive. The president controls the agenda and who is making himself look bad.

When someone is a fool and a clown why do anything to stop themselves from making a fool out of themselves in front of the public. It is far better to blame the republicans as it is the M.O. for the democrats. They are NEVER responsible for their own actions.

Gays do belong in the republican party in the more libertarian/fiscal wing. Not all republicans are social conservatives. And even those that are social conservatives, not all are opposed to gays. Myself and other social conservatives (not all) have a more live let live mind set. Just don't shove it down my throat and I wont shove it down your throat.

My sister (deceased) who work on trans genders had no problems with their life styles. It was their choice. Many thought her a liberal, she told them no she was a libertarian/conservative. She did not see color, sex or whatever, it was green (money) and how you treated people. After her funeral, I had an open house where family and friends (some of her gay & trans gender friends) came to mourn and talk. I a conservative republican evangelical fundamentalist christian would openly invite in gay and trans gender people into my home, how dare he. No they were people much like me in mourning someone they loved.

I believe gays can find a home in the republican party. Will there be differences, yes, like any family has differences.

Even more outlandish is the accusation from the left that corporations are hoarding trillions of dollars rather than hiring people, all in the name of making Obama look bad. It's willful ignorance on the part of the left – companies are in business to make money. And they won't put up their money unless they have a reasonable assumption of a good return on their investment. That prospect doesn't look so good with regulations both known (Frank-Dodd Act) and unknown (Obamacare, EPA restrictions). And now with a possible double-dip, their fears may be well-founded.

Man, I haven't checked in here in a while. And after catching up on the stories – like this one – I can't believe I lapsed in following you guys.

Kevin, no truer words have been spoken to describe me (and a lot of people I know) when you said "Conservatives don’t care that I’m gay, as long as I respect fiscal responsibility and don’t believe the government is there to solve all our problems." 99.9% of the people I know really couldn't give a rat's patooty about someone's orientation so long as they aren't all about socialist policies that ruin entire countries. I mean, I sill wouldn't care about orientation if they thought socialism was good – but I would argue with them, and they would take that to mean that I was anti-gay. In today's world there is very little room between love and hate. I have a lot of respect for people that I disagree with who then DO NOT hate me just as I do not HATE them. I simply disagree with them. We need to teach a lot of people today that it's not only possible, but actually OK to disagree without letting it turn to hate.

But back to your post – great observations and succinct points well made – per normali.
