DOOM ANTIDOTE: Prepare yourself for the propaganda and fear porn all Election Day (and don’t believe any of it)

Posted on November 4, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Featured Content, Open Threads

[ Keep alert for anyone pushing fear porn between now and when the results are announced on Election Day; what they're doing is the equivalent of telling you that great white sharks lurk in your bathtub and you should be crippled with fear over that...just so they can get you to keep coming back to their websites all day to see if the shark's gone yet.  DO NOT FALL FOR IT! ]

We are now just two days away from the 2012 election.  November 6th, baby.  It’s finally almost soon-to-be here.

Please take some time today to mentally prepare yourself for the psychological warfare and emotional terrorism that you’ll be inundated with on Tuesday, from the crack of dawn until the election is finally called for Mitt Romney (at about 9pm EST/8pm CST or so).  The Ministry of Truth that is the national media is going to run psy-ops for Barack Obama all day, attempting to freak out conservatives in the last chance they have to keep people from heading to the polls and voting Obama out of office. Meanwhile, some conservative pundits and websites will be screaming “SHARK!” and also attempting to freak out Republicans…because the fear porn they push drives up web traffic and panicked people keep checking back with the site all day to see if it’s safe to go into the water again.  Telling you there’s a great white in your bathtub has been a favorite trick of people like Ace at Ace of Spades, Allahpundit at HotAir, and Ben Shapiro at Breitbart because this sort of emotional terrorism gets people to tweet, email, Facebook post, and otherwise spread their articles far and wide…which drives up hits to their respective sites…and that in turn translates into more ad dollars coming in on Election Day.

Please be aware that websites are going to look at Election Day the way retailers do “Black Friday”, the big Day-After-Thanksgiving shopping explosion.  The biggest spike these sites will have in readership for YEARS will be Election Day 2012…and a lot of guys will be yelling “SHARK!” and pushing their fear porn because they’re competing for the most amount of traffic throughout the day.  You have to understand that a lot of these guys compete with one another like this, and show their traffic numbers off to each other like little boys pulling down their pants and comparing their penises after gym class.  There are actually “Right Nation” net-conferences where these guys meet in person to compare the charts and graphs of their traffic and congratulate each other on the various spikes they’ve had; at these conferences, they’ll point to a spike and say “Oh, that’s when I said that Hurricane Sandy was going to help Barack Obama win.  Ha! Those dummies, they believed it and came racing over to AceofSpades to see the latest scoop!”.

“That’s nothing,” Allahpundit will say. “Look at all my spikes, I really freaked people out by claiming that Ohio was too close to call…even though Romney ended up winning it 54% to 46% in the end. People are so stupid and just believed me when I was freaking them out.  They didn’t know I was doing it just to get more web traffic.  They are such fools”.

Ben Shapiro from Breitbart, in his booster seat, will add that “I might look like just a little cookie-nibbler, but I can really freak people out.  Though Andrew Breitbart would probably be ashamed of me for freaking people out all the time, the mysterious forces that have been running Andrew’s hard work into the ground since his death tell me we need more traffic and so I have lots of spikes from the many times I’ve written things about Obama winning that have freaked people out.  People believe me because I look so innocent, like I just polished off an ice cold glass of moo-juice.  But, I’m really a little stinker!”.

Seriously.  If you believe any of these people who try to panic you on Election Day, it’s your own fault.  It’s like buying a ticket and walking into JAWS V and thinking it was going to be a romantic comedy about dental hygienists in Vermont (and maybe the “T” that was supposed to be after the “V” fell off the sign or something).  And then you were scared by the shark attacks you saw for two hours up on the screen…and all the blood and guts traumatized you…but you never looked away from the screen or got up to leave the theater.

Please don’t fall for any of the fear porn anymore. You are smarter than this and you know what fear porn is, so if you see it on Election Day you must yell “SHARK!” and call the perpetrators out for using fear porn to drive up their web traffic.

Do not believe anything that the Ministry of Truth says all day before the polls close, either.

You must understand that Minitru is going to keep claiming that “excitement is with Obama today!” or that “Democrats are coming out in droves to defeat Romney!”.  They will show creatively edited video that makes it seem like Obama has large throngs of supporters headed inside to vote for him.  But if you look closely, you’ll see it’s like North Korean propaganda where they show the same two dozen or so actors going inside…and then running out the back door and racing around the side of the building to join the line again at the back.  They will do this all day.

There will be false exit polling coming in…with talking heads making up lies all day…and the whole point of all of it is just to freak you out.  Freak you out and make you so crippling with frost-fingered fear that you can’t function on Tuesday and won’t be able to go out and vote or help other Romney voters vote.  That is the point of all this propaganda.

You are too smart to fall for any of it.

Now, elderly people you know will be crippled with fear and panicked all day.  People who still don’t know the tee-vee lies to them will be having heart palpitations, but you will be able to tell them to calm down because you know the media lies to you.  Tell everyone in your life to turn off the tee-vee if they can’t handle the psychological warfare going on.

I’m actually going to be watching MSNBC all day on Tuesday, from about 10am CST until the results are called later in the night.  I’m going to treat it like the live stream transcripts I did of the presidential debates and will keep track of all the propaganda and lies that MSNBC tells people.  This is the only time in my life that I will ever encourage people to watch MSNBC, but I am doing this because I want to see the meltdown that happens over there. I have been waiting for this for FOUR YEARS now.  I expect it to look something like this when everyone in MSNBC studios realizes that Barack Obama is going to lose and the entire Regime of the Left is collapsing:

I really think that Chris Matthews’ face is going to melt off completely on Election Night.

Rachel Maddow will sit there in stoned silence.

Al Sharpton will scream “RACISTS!  THIS IS ALL RACIST-ISM!”.

The ghost of Tim Russert will materialize, have an ectoplasmic heart attack, and then disappear again forever.

It’s going to be great.

Tomorrow I am going to get the biggest honey-baked ham they have at the store.  And I am going to eat delicious honey-baked ham all day on Tuesday.  My friend Cecile in Michigan sent me two cases of Vernors and I’ll be drinking that as I watch MSNBC implode and panic.  Justin’s going to be be out poll-watching with some other friends of ours, but I will be here manning the live stream coverage and making sure that it’s documented for history just how badly the Ministry of Truth behaved on Election Day…and how they melted into puddles of pure FREAK OUT when the state results rolled in.

I’ll also be watching several lefties on Facebook to monitor what the average Obama cultist is thinking as we get closer to Mitt Romney becoming out 45th president.  It’s going to be marvelous seeing them all realize Nate Silver was lying to them and that there is in actuality a 0% of Obama being reelected.  And there always has been, ever since Obamacare passed the House on March 21st, 2010.

**********************************************************

This is an OPEN THREAD, so share anything you like that’s election related.

I’d really love to hear personal GROUND REPORTS from you in comments below.  Please use the comment section instead of emailing them to me just because there’s so much email coming in right now that I want to be sure your report gets up here quickly…and the best way to do that is to put it into a comment.

Tell us the following in your comment:

* What state are you in?

* What are your friends and neighbors saying about the election?

* What are you doing for election night?

* How can you explain to people you know and love that the Ministry of Truth and the Tokyo Roses will be lying all day on Election Day to panic people…but not to believe any of it because Romney is going to win big and this is just emotional terrorism being inflicted on you while these people can still do that.

I’m really ashamed of a lot of conservative writers in the last few months who’ve been freaking people out for no reason.  I really hope they are all held accountable by their readership after Romney wins big…and I hope people demand to know WHY these guys should keep their positions when all they did was emotionally terrorize nice people who were on the edge and anxious…and didn’t need to be told for two months that there were sharks in their bathrooms and that they should be scared to death all the time.

I think this was cruel…and a pretty sick way for these guys to boost their web traffic.

What think you?

    I just got back from a meeting I had in San Francisco, and I had to drive right through town and then up into the even more wealthy part in the hills. I was purposely looking for Obama signs and bumper stickers, and much to my own amazement, honestly I was shocked. There was not one sticker, lawn sign, signs in windows I saw nothing with Obama on it. Then the meeting I went to was artists and writers and there was not one word about this election. I kept waiting, because last time everyone would not shut up about Obama and I really started to hate people I have to work with in the city. He is gonna lose and it is gonna be big. When San Fransisco has lost the love for Obama, that is a benchmark for the left.

          After Tuesday this won’t matter. The adults are going to take over and the new AG can reopen the case. Fitzgerald always was a political animal, this is just the logical progression to less hours and fat fees.

        Thanks Kevin to your level headed, right on political insights! Really enjoyed reading your predictions, brilliantly written, and I couldn’t agree with more. I live in Honolulu, drove around my neighborhood and then many others too…..not a single sign for Obama…..not a car sticker…nothing! Four years ago this
        Democratic town, Obama supposed birthplace, was pratically dancing in the streets, chanting his name. This year, you’d never know there was a presidential election. The fad has ended!

      I was invited by a friend to a private dinner for big SF opera donors and opera board members and one of the diners kept name-dropping “Dianne” and “the Senator” in reference to Feinstein. She asked if anyone had been watching the debates and there was an awkward dead silence and someone quickly changed the subject. No one even responded to her question. Very strange since this is such a political town.
      The last Tea Party protest we had in SF at one of Zero’s many fundraisers there were still lots of Kool-Aid drinkers waiting in line to see the bamboozler.
      I too have noticed less than 20 Obama bumper stickers this election season and I am in my car all the time. No yard signs or window posters. No one talks about Zero at all.

      I was walking around the crazy (but beautiful) city across the bay from SF yesterday and saw exactly one Obama/Biden sign. It’s true that I’ve seen several others on different walking routes, but some of them are rather discreet — e.g. a bumper sticker on a front door, back a way from the street. There’s a lot more visible support for reopening some city pools.

      Another curious thing about that sign: It’s the blue one with “Obama / Biden” as a horizontal strip across the middle, and if you’re walking past with poor eyesight, you might not even notice the names. It’s terrible design if you really want to promote your candidate with a resounding endorsement.

      My guess is that some people think they need to make a statement but they don’t want to make it very loud, and they’re not so giddily proud of the name “OBAMA” as they were four years ago.

    Early voting report from eastern Seminole County, FL (I-4 corridor, northeast of Orlando). Family waited over 4 hours to vote yesterday afternoon! Line wrapped around parking lot. Lines were 1-2 hours long most of the week as husband and others kept driving by all week trying to find a shorter line but lines were never short. Friends at work tried to vote Friday (mid-)afternoon at an eastern Orange County site and lines were long then also. The line at our library was never much shorter than where we started in those 4 hours. Historic numbers of people voting yesterday!

    I wish I could say that R’s were the majority but in our area of the line it was probably pretty even. (Two college roommates near us were cancelling each other’s vote.) But we found 2 buddies and subjected the quiet, mouth-pursed D’s around us to 4 hours of having to listen to everything they never wanted to know about Obama, Obamacare, Benghazigate, Sandy response. You name it. We covered a lot of ground in 4 hours! They were probably never so relieved to get out of a voting line. But it was my daughter’s first time voting so we got another vote for Romney/Ryan in our family :)

      I’m in Texas, and when we went to vote a week ago, the room was full. We only waited a few minutes, but usually when we early vote, there are only a couple of people.

      I have a high school classmate in Florida, and he said when he went to vote Friday, there were several hundred people in line, and the wait was several HOURS.

      The first presidential election I voted in was when Reagan beat Carter. That is the only time in me entire life I had to wait hours to vote.

      This is a Romney landslide, people. Be not afraid.

        We were at the Oviedo library and yes, it’s been packed since last Saturday. I told my daughter that she will never forget this election, just as I will never forget standing in line for a long time (but not 4 hours!) to vote for Reagan over Carter, in my first election. And she will never forget this election, that will at least give her a shot at the life she deserves.

        This 18 year old has never had the childhood she deserved. Her birthday is in September and 9/11 has forever made an impact on her as she has to re-live it every September before her birthday. She knows current events and politics like no other 18 year-old I’ve met and she knows how important this election is. Her best friends’ parents are in the medical field, own their own small business, and are actively pondering what careers to switch to if Obama is re-elected. She fully understands all of our generation’s worries as well as worries about what her future will be.

        I just pray that Romney understands how much we all need him to be a full-up conservative and not go wobbly on us when he speaks of bi-partisanship!

          You know, I think of people like you daughter who is 18 and others like the college students who have had to move back to their old bedrooms at their parent’s house and it’s a downright shame that such a large chunk of children lost out on so much of life. How much further would they have been in a good economy? On their way to buying a house? Married?

          I guess it’s part of the price paid to reignite the love of America and all she stands for. For me it never left (I didn’t vote for Obama the first time around and sensed that he was evil and would do bad things and he FAR exceeded my expectations).

    What’s on my mind now, after the election, is to circle the wagons around our new president-elect Romney because the firepower will be intense.

    Watch out for the Tea Party once this happens. The Left and the Lamestream Media will learn right quick not to mess with us.

My dad said he had heard about that somewhere already, on the radio he thought. My vote WILL count on Tuesday. I also heard them saying something about Ohio (when I didn’t change the channel fast enough) and counting votes all night, and recounting…it’s not going to matter. Romney does not need Ohio. Recount it 100 times if you want to, if Romney wins PA and MI, Ohio doesn’t matter (those Buckeyes are such teases anyway). If it goes the way I think it will, it won’t be a landslide, it will be a blow-out. Pass the Honey Baked Ham!

      I am also in Michigan, and the trend is for us to most likely go Romney. The unions aren’t even pushing the “O” heavy anymore.
      Instead, they are using all their resources on Prop2 and 4 (and a little on the “green” enegry Prop3)
      I also hope those props go down in flames, as they are just trying to codify public service unions guarantee to have the state manditorily deduct dues from wages of people, whether they want to be in a union or not (SEIU).

      BTW, you might try a few Spotted Cow brewskis with that Honey Baked Ham. Good Wisconsin beer and compliments a Dhimmirat rout!

        Michigander here too and I hope you’re both right!! Just yesterday had a few local people thank me for my Facebook posts about Obama/Romney and the election. I was completely surprised because I honestly was thinking I was the only non-Dem in our area. It just seems that the loudest people in my area are Leftists, so it’s a RELIEF to me to read that it may just be my area and not the whole of the state. So glad to read both of your posts!!!

        Did a lot of traveling over the weekend. Saw a few Obama/Biden signs, but for the most part, Romney signs everywhere!

          Best comment I had regarding the Romney/Obama race was from a UP Michigander in early September at Whitefish Point. It was the response when I told him that for all the Romney signs I saw in Paradise, MI on the way there, there was only ONE Obama 2012 sign.

          He told me he was a resident of Paradise, and said “well, every village needs an idiot, you know”.

          Cracked me up big-time!

I always thought that they were Democrats… but one cousin is definitely conservative in his way of thinking :) . Here’s hoping that all of my cousins vote for Romney/Ryan.

    One of things I think is most telling in this election are the size of the crowds Romney is drawing. I want to hear more about this topic. So far here in Central Florida the crowds have all exceeded the space provided for the GOP. I don’t hear as much about the Dem crowds but they appear smaller and the sound of the applause sounds smaller. Is there a website that has this info? Minitru hides the size of Obama’s crowds and frankly I can’t stand to listen to him to judge how loud or how many are in his venues!

      I am surprised, as well, that no one talks about this. Yesterday I saw pics of 30 K at the Romney rally and then saw 18K capacity crowd in Englewood, CO and the audience was fired up….I saw Obama somewhere with 2K in a barn. Biden had 1K in some gym….Sandra Fluke had a whopping 40 people…..there were 12 people at a GOTV dance flash mob for Obama and only 200 people at a pro Obama Stevie Wonder event!
      Add this to the astonishing lack of Obama signs and bumper stickers and all the 2008 Obama voters now voting for Romney and newspapers that endorsed Obama in ’08 that have now endorsed Romney and it seems clear as day that the support simply isn’t there now.

    Your exhortation for us to prepare ourselves against the fear porn brought this to mind:

    Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

    Praying that we are all armored up and ready for the last bit of the election antics that may play out nationwide. I am convinced that if we all do our part and stand firm in the truth we will indeed be victorious.

    I’m planning on voting early Tuesday morning and then heading down to help out GOTV at Linda Lingle HQ.

    Democrats are not acting like they are winning, they know they are losing big, we see it.

    Romney will win by 53% to 46%. Not sure how big the Gary Johnson drones are, these people are worse than Obama drones.

    Kevin,
    I agree that Ohio is not going to be close and have felt that way since 2010. In 2006 and 2008, Ohio voters rejected the RINO candidates and officials who dominated the selection process. Voinovich, Taft and DeWine crossed over the aisle and cried for acceptance by the “moderates.” The election in 2010 was the start of taking back Ohio from the left. Both houses of the General Assembly returned to GOP control, Kasich won the governorship, Mandel won State Treasurer, and a chastened DeWine engineered a primary win for Attorney General. All of the statewide executive offices (Sec’y of State, Auditor, Lt. Gov.) went to the GOP.

    In 2008, many conservatives in Ohio did not tuirn out to vote for more of McSame. And along with ACORN “voters,” liberal guilt, and increased leftist turnout, Ohio went to the Democrat.
    In today’s edition of the Schizophrenic Enquirer (Cincinnati’s remaining newspaper endorsed Romney and Sherrod Brown),

    “Tim Burke, who chairs both the Hamilton County Elections Board and Democratic Party, said he expected up to 1,500 voters to come through on Saturday.

    “The early voting here is slightly lower than what we had four years ago, but keep in mind this is the first Saturday of early voting we’ve had here,” Burke said. “So it’s not necessarily an indication of less enthusiasm for voting. Frankly, there’s just been less opportunity for voting.”

    Less opportunity? By this I think he means that with the increased scrutiny this year, there has been less opportunity to bus in the ACORN vote. First chance? People could have easily gotten to the early voting location virtually any day of the week or absentee vote.

    I don’t see the Democarts winning more than a handful of counties.

    I think it’s a really productive way to channel his anxiety over the impending Obama loss. I joined his facebook event and have encouraged him. I’m trying to redirect my lefty friends’ energy into non-political, positive stuff (that I can retain a connection to them with)

    I fully expect to be defriended by lots of my leftist friends on Wednesday. They are so self-unaware about this crap. Some defriended me in 2004, b/c they knew I had turned conservative and they were bitter about the Kerry loss. I’m trying to keep avenues of communication open… trying to convert hearts

    Ah so even my dad got caught a little in the fear porn of the election machines changing Romney votes to Obama. He was like, “How do you know it’s not getting changed to Obama?”

    I looked up a lot of things. Only a handful of states are electronic only and most of them are blue states or solidly red. All others leave a paper trail or have a paper option.

    Also the Romney campaign is just brilliant. Nobody realized it until now, but they have been leading the Obama campaign around by the nose.

    This trick with Penssylvania, Minn, Mich, and other will go down in history as the most cunning move by a challenger ever!

    Romney spent the past couple months distancing himself from Pennsylvania, acting like it wasn’t in play. The Obama campaign got confident and diverted their resources elsewhere thinking Romney wouldn’t go there and had given up.

    What looks like really happened is the republican governor, the grassroots there, and other workers continued to quietly organize and set themselves up.

    Romney also waited until the Obama campaign released their schedule before he released his and he’s heading to Pennsylvania. Suddenly advertising is being bought up there and Pennsylvania is so very in play.

    But Obama diverted resources elsewhere, he’s not set-up there sufficiently or in any of the other “swing” states. They’re are literally scrambling while what do you know Romney is already well set up there. (He just worked very slowly.) Beautiful play by Romney.

    Plus the weekend is over. Many of the lefties in Philly are the ones who have a job they at least show up to. Which means calling them and knocking on their doors is very limited. You can’t do it at night.

    Obama’s campaign is not good at adapting. Too much top down rule. Whereas, the grassroots are flexible and can adapt easily and outmaneuver them.

    Obama can’t cheat enough and can’t outwit Romney. Landslide is coming.

      I was just thinking that about PA this morning. The Ulsterman Report kept talking about a “traditionally blue state with really great internals” and many people were thinking Pennsylvania. Romney team held their cards close to their chest….

      I feel extremely positive about Wisconsin. Actually, better than I feel about Ohio even though I think R will win in Ohio. Wisconsin elected a very solid conservative governor and a solid conservative senator. They beat back, handily, a recall effort in which the full force of the Commie brigade was wielded, with the exception of an appearance by POTUS. I don’t see all that conservative energy suddenly vanishing. It’s not as if Obama’s done anything to endear himself to sconnies since.

A lot of the information there has panned out, including the Kam Kuwata incident, which eventually led to Mr. Kuwata’s mysterious death. Either the WHI is real or is a character but presenting factual information. There are plenty of sites with “insider” information out there. I take it all in and then filter it against facts I can verify and/or logic and reason. I would say WHI is spot on about Obama’s need for anti-depressants and his general lethargy in doing anything related to the job. This has now come out from other sources, and Chris Mattews even made a faux pas, when he complained about Obama needing his teleprompter in a meeting situation. Somebody’s going to write a very interesting tell-all about this White House someday.

Interesting tidbit — at least one interviewee voted for Zero in 2008 but is voting Romney now, saying how disappointing Zero’s term has been, with all the glorious promises made “not coming to fruition”. I don’t get the feeling that this person was white, either. And if that’s so, it would dovetail perfectly with the reactions I’ve seen from black people I’ve seen in the checkout line. They’ll pick up a tabloid while they’re waiting, and as soon as they see Zero’s picture, they get a look of utter disgust on their faces, and quickly put the tabloid down like it just turned into a cockroach. I really do believe that unexpected numbers of blacks will vote . . . and they will vote for Romney.

    Voter turnout here is expected to be huge on Tuesday. I’m going to be at my polling place by 6:00.

    While I am not going to be doing a victory dance all over facebook on Tuesday, I plan to completely obliterate Nate Silver on Wednesday, and it will be delicious (there are some who have already done so, but I’m holding fire until he’s actually humiliated). I’ll be getting that post ready to go on Tuesday, and I’ve got a great visual to go with it.

    I have no shame rubbing that Silver’s nose in it. I want it to be an undeniable defeat for Obama, and I want to spike the football against my fellow numbers nerds. I hate bad modeling work, and that is one of the areas where I have no shame yelling I TOLD YOU SO.

    I put up a post today where I picked out Silver’s main “Tipping States” and determined that if more than 3 of those 8 states go to Romney (and I think they will) Silver will have a worse job than just explaining why his main prediction of an Obama win sucked so bad.

    the post I’m referring to:

    With a very few exceptions, commenters there are melting into puddles. Massive voter fraud! People registering for 50 e-mail addresses and voting 50 times each for Obama! Gov. Christie is in league with Obama! We’re dooooooooooomed! Doooooooomed!

        Agreed! Especially since I’d read elsewhere that the National Guard were already going to set up polling places in NY / NJ. Not a bad idea, IMHO — it’s efficient, it would be well-monitored, and the chances of any attempts to screw with the votes would be greatly reduced. Not many people I can think of who would want to try such a stunt with an armed NG unit anywhere around.

          UUhhhhhmmmm the National Guard cannot set up polling places. It is the function of the registrar to do that for his or her location. People would not know where to go to vote. Polling places have already been designated.

          I could see that the National Guard could make sure all of the polling places can be free of debris and have electricity, but they cannot set one up.

        Actually Drudge has a link up to an AP article about New Jersey allowing voting by email and FAX for certain areas of displaced residents. They have to request a ballot by email/ FAX and then return it by a deadline. I’m not sure if these will be treated like provisional ballots or not. They said that this is the same process they use for deployed military and ex-pats. I guess they are checking the voter registrations to make sure you are registered and haven’t voted already before sending you a ballot….I hope.

          So the are not, in fact, VOTING by email or FAX…they are REQUESTING ballots be sent to them….and they have to return the ballots by a deadline.

          That is A LOT different than “voting by email or fax”.

          This is a great example of fear porn, actually: see how something that was not true at all was put out there based on a little bit of truth (in terms of being able to request a ballot by email or fax…but not being allowed to actually vote by email or fax). The fear porn mongers just raced around saying “They’re voting by email and fax in New Jersey now!”.

          See how fear porn works?

            Kevin – Actually they ARE being allowed to vote by email or fax. NOT all NJ residents – only those affected by the storm and only after submitting an application to do electronically to the county clerks’s office. Overseas voters and those in the military ARE allowed to vote by electronic ballot in NJ. See the following link for details/procedures:

            http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2012/11/new-jersey-to-allow-voting-by-email-and-fax-for-residents-displaced-by-superstorm-sandy/264499/#

            Excerpt 1:

            “A directive issued by Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno officially designated displaced New Jersey residents as “overseas voters,” thus giving them the electronic voting option already available to New Jersey residents serving in the military. In addition, displaced voters and first responders may also vote by provisional ballot at any New Jersey polling location.”

            Excerpt 2:

            “Voters who opt for an electronic ballot must email or fax an application (available here) to their county clerk (contact info here) who will then determine whether the person qualifies for the provision. If so, the clerk will send the voter two items: an electronic ballot and a “waiver of secrecy form.” The waiver will enable officials to print the ballot and confirm the sender, a loss of privacy made palatable by the gains in access to voting this temporary measure extends. All applications for electronic ballots must be received by 5 p.m. and all ballots themselves must be submitted by 8 p.m. (and don’t forget the attachment!).”

            ~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Please note!: Voters must submit an electronic voting application to their county clerk’s office who then determines if the voter is qualified to vote by email or fax before they can do so!
            Those that qualify CAN then do so electronically by email or fax, or people in areas destroyed by the storm can vote by provisional ballot at any NJ polling station.
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~

            Here is a link to the announcement from the NJ Governor’s Office, outlining the details:

            http://www.state.nj.us/governor/news/news/552012/approved/20121103d.html

            Brief Excerpt:

            “To vote electronically, displaced voters may submit a mail-in ballot application EITHER by e-mail or fax to their county clerk. Once an application is approved, the clerk will electronically send a ballot to the voter by either fax or e-mail in accordance to the voter’s preference. Voters must return their electronic ballot – by fax or email – no later than November 6, 2012, at 8 p.m.”

            ~~~~
            It IS not the whole state, i.e any random voter. It is ONLY first responders, verified people living in the affected areas.
            Also, please keep in mind that though the coastline of NJ was brutally ravaged, not ALL of the state suffered the devastation we are all seeing of the coastline on TV. Just like in other boroughs of NYC….Staten Island’s low-lying areas by the southern tip were demolished beyond belief, but many areas in the middle of the borough had very little damage. Same here in Brooklyn and in Queens, etc. The areas that got hit bad, really were utterly destroyed, but many other areas of the city came through in much, much better shape. My area of Brooklyn, for example, was not at all affected. We were very, very fortunate.
            I also want to say that NJ is a pretty reliable blue state, so even IF there IS voter fraud, it is unlikely to affect the overall outcome of the election. Judging from what I am reading about the procedure to submit electronic ballots by email or fax, I am not all that worried that there is going to be major fraud, etc.
            I am submitting this post because I want to make sure people do understand the true situation in NJ and that they are NOT afraid, despite the fact that there WILL be electronic/fax voting allowed.
            It is going to happen, but given the methods and procedures in place, it is NOT something to worry about!
            They can say they are doing this, but it’s going to be taken to the New Jersey Supreme Court in the end and it’s not going to fly.
            You can’t just change the election law by fiat two days before an election.
          Voting by email/fax IS permitted by law in NJ and has been in NJ since 2008 for members of the military and overseas residents formerly domiciled in NJ
          The only difference in this election is that Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno has reclassified NJ residents in the affected storm areas (and ONLY those areas of NJ) as “overseas residents,” thus permitting them to vote by email/fax if they so choose, after verification that they qualify. This dictate only applies for this election and expires at the end of the Nov. 6th voting NJ period.
          Whether it is challenged and/or holds up, I don’t know. The argument that these voters (and only these voters in the affected areas) will be disenfranchised if they are not permitted to vote this way is a powerful one. We will see what happens.
          Either way, I am NOT worried about this….as long as proper controls are in place and followed, I see no harm in it, only a benefit to those poor people devastated by Sandy.
          NJ is NOT going to determine the outcome of this election. It is a moot point.
        I saw this via Drudge. What they are offered, is an application to vote via email or by fax. At some stage they have to get a printout. At least that is my understanding.
        I think this idea of people creating email addresses to vote by email is a very ludicrous idea and it is not what is intended by the proposal.
Dare we dream of a Romney presidency with a Republican House & Senate?
    And as a side note, I’d love to see the electoral college be changed so that it’s not winner take all. So if CA votes 60 Dem/40 Rep, then their electoral votes should go the same way. This would make a big difference and ensure the Electoral & Popular vote always match. Your thoughts?
      Karen, check the Constitution. States are free to set up any plan for allotting their electoral votes however they wish. Both Nebraska and Maine allot theirs by state vote, and congressional district. Notice how no one every campaigns there? And they never will. Right next door to Maine is little ol’ New Hampshire. Every presidential election year, campaigns drop a poop-ton of money into their state trying to win their 4 measly little EVs.
      States that don’t do winner-take-all miss out on the election money (esp. the TV money for local stations). What we need to do is make CA competitive. If Mitt wins, and does the kind of job we expect of him, look for him to compete in CA in 2016.
      Second, when you look at the impact Karol (JP II) had on Poland, the thing that really sticks out for me, is precisely those crowds at the Pope’s first visit to his homeland: For the first time, Polish Catholics and Patriots got a real, visual, confirmation of their numbers – NO WAY there could be more than, say, ten percent Party members in those crowds, and therefore, logically, they finally KNEW that they were millions!
      From that grew courage, then determination, then … as the saying goes, the rest is history…
      (Obviously, at some point Gorbatsjov and Reagan had their impact on the greater Eastern Europe situation – and there were other factors, also – but in Poland the watershed moment was when they finally knew that they were not alone!)
    To bob loblaw….could you reference where this Bible verse was taken? This is such a comforting verse. Thank you for posting it! This will be my mantra for the next several days.
    The Ohio vote is tricky bc everyone was mailed an application for absentee voting. Over 800,000 have not returned the ballot that was sent upon application so if they go to vote in person, they will be given a provisional ballot which aren’t counted for 10 days following the election. This was from former Sec of State Ken Blackwell on Huckabee show last night.
      Certainly! Ephesians 6:10-18.
      One of my heroes, Dana Loesch, has Ephesians 6 tatooed on her forearm. =)
      I also receive much comfort from scripture. I have been thinking a lot lately of all the stories where it looked grim for those who were followers of God, however flawed they have been, and our gracious and merciful creator has mightily given them victory. I am praying for and expecting a tremendous work to be done in and for our nation (and the world) on Tuesday.
      Laus Deo!
    Here in North Central Florida, our Romney Victory Office totally ran out of R/R yard signs. They were going like hotcakes and now we’re having to scrounge around and get some back to place at the 125 polling places. Down a 10 mile stretch of a 4 lane divided highway, the only Obama signs are the 6 in front of the temporary Obozo campaign office; the rest of the highway is just miles and miles of Romney signs!
    Got 3 Victory celebrations to attend – Tuesday night (of course!),and one on Friday and a really big one on Saturday! What a great week this will be!
    Thanks Kevin for all your uplifting words!
        Right now, Obama does not have Indiana, NC, Fl or Virginia…his in a big deficit in the early voting Ohio, a state he only won by 260,000 votes, BattlegroundWatch has this:
        http://battlegroundwatch.com/2012/11/04/david-axelrod-has-no-response-to-ohio-early-vote-numbers/
        A swing of 263,256 votes away from the Dems. Our own “lying” eyes across the landscape show marked decrease of Dem enthusiasm this time around, and 2008 was a wave year…so what’s missing. Lies, lies, and more lies.
        I respected Breit Hume, so this really hurts.
      I watch FoxNews here in Australia and have always had time for Britt Hume.Sad.
      Having said that, ever since they ditched Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin for telling the truth, I became disillusioned with them.
      I found I learned more from Beck in 2 and a half years than most of my years of formal education which is a lot!
      I still watch Sean Hannity as he is in there like a terrier but Bill O’Reilly and his ‘looking out for you’ is just crap.
      I think it has become an infotainment channel.
      It has lost its edge.
      Still, its better than anyone else.
      Tell anyone in Australia that you watch FoxNews and they will call you ‘part of the right-wing conspiracy’.
      I wear that badge proudly – it doesn’t bother me at all!
    “The GM bailout was handled not by automotive experts but by New York investment firm Evercore Partners. The firm is headed by Obama bundler and former Assistant Treasury Secretary Roger Altman and Obama mega fundraiser Ralph Schlosstein. GM paid Evercore $46 million in advising fees and billed the car company another $17.9 million for a “success fee,” despite the fact that Evercore never found GM a purchaser or funder.”
    For anyone still upset over Rasmussen’s polling, the crosstabs have just been dissected on FreeRepublic and the latest poll had Romney getting only 87% of Republicans! That’s simply not happening, since according to people far more attune to this than I am, McCain got at least 90%.
    Does anybody really think that Romney is going to have less Republican support than McCain did in 2008? That’s simply just NOT TRUE.
    THANK YOU, Kevin!!! You’ve been doing a FABULOUS job with the fear porn. Absolutely fabulous, Dahling…
    Was at dinner next door last night – there were 8 of us. All went well until – dun ta dun dun – what will happen on Tuesday. Don’t ask me how I do it, but I live in a neighborhood of retired people – seniors – but not old enough to need assisted living. [I'm not old enough to be here, and we just rent this house,] It is called “Four Seasons, An Active Retirement Community.” [They are all over the place, these "Four Seasons" communities.]
    Anyway, the neighbor that invited us, “Jo,” KNOWS that with me invited you should never bring up the jeja.* I won’t listen to the leftist talking points that these people spew. They do NOT see what the jeja has done to this country and refuse to see it. That’s fine.
    I didn’t bring it up. One of the men did. He was not sitting far from me at the table. He said, “It is looking close right now, but he’s going to win, Tuesday.” [I refuse to use the name, even though the man at the table did.] One of the women there went, “Oh, no.” Not to the issue of who is going to win, but because “it” was now a topic for discussion. I didn’t miss a beat and said, “I think you’re wrong George. Especially in light of what is happening right now.” George said, “Well, come on, Beth, you have to give him credit for what he has done.” I replied, “Really, George? What’s he done? He just killed four Americans. He had a photo op with Sandy but hasn’t done anything about it. We’ve got higher taxes, gas has more than doubled, blah blah blah…” NONE of this changes their minds. None of it. George said, “Well, Beth, you at least have to give him credit for one thing.” “What’s that, George?” “He got bin laden.” I then had to set the record straigt, there. “Are you sure, George? Did you ever see the body? And HE didn’t do it.” George wanted to continue to tell me how the “chain of command” works and that he had to give the order. I wasn’t having any of it. As it continued, one woman said, “I’m leaving.” And she did. She grabbed her keys and left. She will not allow anyone to say anything negative about him. And won’t listen to anyone try to get ANY truth out about him, no matter what it is. One of the neighbors there actually said, “Wow. I’ve never seen Anita move so quickly.” I’m pretty sure she have never moved so fast.
    George’s wife can’t stand “him,” either. I find that interesting. How do you stay married to someone for forty-something years when your politics are so far apart and opposite. It was George’s wife that said, “Stop it right now George. You KNOW we don’t discuss politics, ever, when Beth is here. Or religion.” I was putting my sweatshirt on and I was getting ready to leave. The little party was going downhill that quickly. As it was, George stopped, I stopped and we all went on with dessert and coffee and sat down to watch Jaws. [Once a month, movie night.]
    I find it almost amazing that Jo is having major health issues and finding that neither her medicare or her supplemental coverage are taking care of her bills and she complains about the cost all the time. I keep trying to tell her that it is only going to get worse. This is a community of ALL white people but for ONE family out of 350 homes. Including many who are Jewish. And, yet, they continue to support “him.” Gas is twice the price, food has gone up, our electric bills this summer were all in the $300 – $400 a month range depending on just how cool you wanted your house. And yet… They have either already voted for him, or are planning on voting for him again on Tuesday.
    If I say something that relates to politics, Anita will tell me to turn off Fox News. She’ll say that she can give me four other sources that dispute the one from Fox, so Fox is wrong… Apparently, as you’ve already stated in earlier posts, Kevin, “conservative writers” don’t count – they are, after all, only blogs… So regardless of the fact that I rarely even turn Fox News on, all of my information MUST come from there. I just don’t get it. Really, I don’t.
    But, outside of our neighborhood, if I’m at the lot where we’re building our house, or if I’m at Lowe’s talking to the guys ordering my doors, or at the tile store, NOT a single person I’ve spoken to has anyhthing good to say about “him.” My doctor can’t stand him and will probably retire if he is forced to continue practicing without a change in the political administration.
    So, someone is going to have to explain to me, how it is that white seniors and Jewish seniors still don’t see what is happening.
    Again, Kevin, thank you sooooo much for your posts. Although I don’t comment much, I very, very much look forward to reading this site almost every day.
      I swear, I wish more people would see this. Calling a conservative writer a “blogger” is like calling a gay man a “fag” or a black person a “n***er”. These are all words used to diminish people.
      Newsweek is no longer a print publication and will be just a website as of January. All of its writers will thus only publish electronically. But, the media will still call them “writers” because they write what the Left wants them to write.
      Meanwhile, the Ministry of Truth calls the people who write the truth and counter the lies of Minitru by pejoratives like “bloggers”.
      It’s really a shame that 80% of the people who use these words don’t mean any harm and aren’t savvy enough to realize that the Left wants them to use these words to keep diminishing those of us who write from a conservative viewpoint in an electronic medium. We are writers. We work hard. Show us some respect.
      I don’t like being called a fag and don’t react well to it, even though I am gay. I am not black, but if I was then I sure would not like being called a “n***er”. Do not call this website I work hard on every day “a blog” and do not diminish my hard work by calling me “some blogger” when I’ve been a political writer going on five years now.
            The term “writer” isn’t very specific. It could mean author, biographer, columnist, contributor, correspondent, critic, dramatist, editor, essayist, freelancer, ghostwriter, journalist, newspaper person, novelist, person of letters, poet, reporter, screenwriter, scribbler, scribe, scripter, stenographer, stringer, wordsmith, or anyone that attempts to communicate in writing.
            Ever the term blogger isn’t that specific.About all it does is identify a person that communicates over the internet.
            “Political writer” should be specific enough.
            If someone writes about tee-vee shows, he can be an “entertainment writer”.
            If a person writes about sports, she can be a “sports writer”.
            This is no situation where the word “writer” plus a more specific one-word-modifier of your choice would not suffice.
            Every time someone writes “blogger” I see it like they are writing “fag” or “n***er” or “cunt”…it’s just an ugly word meant to diminish someone and tell that person “stay in the place we assign you, you are a lesser person and we are superior to you!”.
            Stop using these words to describe people.
Most schools are polling places and they are expecting huge crowds. The GOTV for Akin has been HUGE!!!! His signs have been flying out of the GOP offices alomost as fast as the Romney signs.     The reports of voter fraud are pouring in. Election machines changing votes, busloads of people who are likely not citizens being brought in and told who to vote for, voter intimidation. It’s a storm.
    Voting will open, and by the end of the evening the media will be firmly calling it “too close to call”, which is automatic win mode for the communists.
    Beware the election early exit polls. They will start in the afternoon. The Democrats used this trick in 2000 and 2004. They almost stole the election in FL because the NW panhandle of FL is on Central time. The corrupt media called it for Gore before the polls even closed.
    The early exit polls predicted a Kerry blowout. Intrade is useless and so were the UK bookies in 2004. Kerry was up big after the fake early exit polls then collapsed when it turned out to be a lie. I was watching it online and they were jumping all over the place.
    Ignore the noise and get out and vote. The media, especially anything on TV and Hollywood, lies.
    NC -
    Yesterday’s Home Depot parking lot was full of R/R stickers. Almost funny – bet that is a cultural thing. Everybody I have spoken to has Obama fatigue. It’s the Cash for the Clunker Administration. Lots of cash and lots of clunker. My friends and family have decided that if the press didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards at all. I am so sick of it all and just want it to be over. This is also why all the polling is wrong – no trust for the people asking the questions, no patience with it anymore.
    The internet is The Tale Of Two Elections. Both sides claim to be winning, but the basis for this on the left seems to lie in the confidence of theft and fraud although they don’t say this out loud – just that “Romney might win the popular vote” – tacit agreement that Obama does not enjoy popular support. Some lefty wrote that Romney is on “desperate offense”. I’m still laughing over that. Obama – still leading from behind.
    The governor races are very interesting, too. Want to know why the media isn’t talking about it? Because 30 or more of the 50 governors are going to be Republicans as of 2013.
    On Tuesday they are predicting rain and a cold one at that – a high of lower fifties. Gross weather – this favors R’s I believe because we are more determined.
    I’m spending a lot of time today in prayer. I believe God is merciful and will help us.
    The Mass today was celebrated for religious liberty. Father said to vote your conscience and pray for guidance from the Holy Ghost, but understand our religious liberty is at stake. No names were mentioned, but since this is a Traditional, Latin Mass Catholic congregation, it’s full of solid conservatives. Romney/Akin flyers were on the cars after Mass.
    It was the 23rd Mass after Pentecost, so the Collect and the Offertory were from Psalm 129 (Douay-Rheims) “De profundis”–out of the depths I have cried to you O Lord. I thought that was fitting.
      Thank you Youngstown Frankie, the video and article at Legalinsurrection on the plight of blacks in Chicago who are (and have been for decades) betrayed by the Dem Party and Obama is heart breaking. In 2007 during the Dem Primary, there was lots of information on the web on how corrupt the Obama Team, et al in Chicago was and how they ripped off millions and millions of tax dollars that were meant for housing, jobs, and educational programs for those needing help in Chicago. These taxpayer funds instead, became Obama/Democrat Party slush funds to plunder at will. The main stream media buried the TRUTH. It was the courage of HillBuzz, Legalinsurrection, NoQuarter and some other brave political writers that made ALL the difference over the last four years. Romney/Ryan will WIN the Election on Tuesday, 11/6/2012!! Thanks for KEEPING OUR EYES ON THE PRIZE!!!
    I just received this email from MoveOn. It gives an insight to their state of mind and what states they think are important. From the subject line it sounds panicked. They are trying to motivate their own base — not even swing voters.
    From: “Robin Beck, MoveOn.org Political Action”
    Subject: Please please please
    Dear MoveOn member,
    Can you call MoveOn members in swing states today?
    Hint: The answer is “Yes!”
    Have plans? Cancel them. Can’t cancel? Postpone. If you got sick, you’d find some way to reschedule your other stuff, right? And this is way more important than illness. This is the, uh, FUTURE OF AMERICA we’re talking about—and it could come down to how many volunteers we can sign up in important states like Ohio and Colorado.
    You know how to click a mouse, right? Sure! You clicked on this email. Perfect. So all you have to do is click this link:
    Yes, I’ll call Ohio, Colorado, and other swing states today and sign up some volunteers.
    Thanks, you’re the best! This entire election is going to come down to turnout. And the key to that is awesome, amazing, good-looking MoveOn members just like you calling other members in swing states and signing them up to reach out to would-be Obama voters during the final push. So give yourself a pat on the back for signing
    Wait—why are you still reading this? It must be that… no it couldn’t be… but it… Did you not click the link?!?
    OK, let’s not get hysterical. No reason to overreact. There’s still plenty of time to volunteer if you CLICK THIS LINK RIGHT NOW:
    Yes, I’ll call MoveOn members in Ohio, Virginia, and other swing states.
    So… um… why haven’t you clicked yet? Are you scared of volunteering? Really don’t be. Volunteering is great: You get to meet people, have fun, and save your country from being taken over by Mitt Romney.
    Here’s what’s really scary: doing other stuff and not volunteering. Why? Because who knows what trouble you’ll get in doing other stuff. You better click this link right away to make calls immediately: Yes, I’ll call swing states today.
    Still no? Maybe it’s something with the link. Want a link that goes to the same page but has different words? Boom: OMG I can’t believe how much I want to call!!!!!
    Or would you prefer a link all written-out in HTML with the “http” and the backslashes and what not? Here ya go: [URL deleted]
    Still haven’t clicked? Alright look, I wasn’t going to tell you this, but I guess I’ve got to pull out all the stops:
    Bill Clinton called me up personally on the phone and asked if you—yes, you—were going to be helping out between now and Election Day. Bill’s counting on you to help us win.
    True story. (Note: Not a true story. But definitely a truthy story. Bill is counting on people like you. And you are, inherently, a person like yourself. Think about it: Who’s more like you than you?)
    So can you click below to volunteer before the polls close?
    Yes, I’ll call some MoveOn members in swing states.
    Thanks for all you do (especially the volunteering over the NEXT 3 DAYS—thanks extra-much for that).
    –Robin, Emily, Victoria, Adam, and the rest of the team
    P.S. If you didn’t read the email above, let me restate it really quickly for you here in this convenient postscript: We have a lot of calls to make and volunteers to sign up before Tuesday. Click here to start: Yes, I’ll make calls right now.
    P.P.S. If you didn’t read the P.S. above, or the email above that, or the P.P.P.S below this, why are you reading this P.P.S.? Why not just read the other stuff? So much easier, don’t you think?
    P.P.P.S. This entire paragraph is ONE GIANT LINK for you to sign up to help out for just 15 minutes in the next 3 days—the most important 3 days ever in the history of 3-day periods of time.
    P.P.P.P.S. Wait, are you still reading because you making calls already right now? That makes sense. In that case, thanks—keep it up!
    In my neighborhood there are very few national-level political signs. Just a couple for Romney, and no Obama yard signs. I also haven’t seen many bumper stickers this year. I think the electorate is keeping their opinions quiet, playing close to the vest.
    I’ll be watching tee vee Tuesday night, probably Fox with an occasional look at MSNBC for entertainment purposes. Haven’t thought of a good menu yet….was thinking of a giant pot of chile, but a honey baked ham sounds delicious.
    Kevin is so right about ignoring the fear porn and Minitru on Election Day. I have a case in point. Election Day 2004, I felt in my heart of hearts that Bush was going to beat kerry. When I got home from work, I turned on Fox. All I heard was that exit polling was showing kerry in the lead even in some conservative areas. I was shocked and upset. I turned off the tv and only read the results online. Later, when the news online started showing the exit polls wrong, I finally turned on Fox News. Afterwards, I wanted to kick myself for listening to minitru and missing the fun of state after state being called for Bush. Thanks again, Kevin, for all you do.
    NPR is also replaying at the top of the hour newscast a sound clip of Romney quoting something in his “closing argument” rallies from Friday Night Lights that is very neutralizing to this bandwagon fear porn.
    It’s a sign the underdog football players would touch as they left the locker room to head to the field, it read
    “Clear Eyes. Full Heart. Can’t Lose.”
    Romney then said “Ohio voters have clear eyes….”
    I think this is a brilliant thing to say to bandwagon voters who feel they should vote one guy but are afraid to if the polls do not show him a clear winner.
    I have no doubt his crack campaign team follows the influential blogs and that the “fear porn” effect is on their checklist.
    I don’t know why, even though I am in the one of the bluest of the blue cities in America, New York City, I have no doubt Romney is going to win this election by a landslide. I feel this in my bones. I’m not really worried about the swing states. I think most of them will go to Romney. Only the most stubborn habitual Dem areas will not, in my opinion. The polls don’t really bother me at all. Most of them have been so skewed in favor of Dems, they really can’t be taken seriously. The fact that ANY of them, especially the ones commissioned by major leftist organizations, etc., are reporting Romney advantages at all says to me that Romney is doing way, way better than we can imagine. Please remember the huge disconnect between what the media was reporting about Scott Walker’s recall election outcome and then the ACTUAL outcome. I think the same is happening now with Romney, yet still the “polls” are reporting Romney advantages or very close numbers. So, that says to me Romney’s numbers are very, very good in the real world, despite the hopes and dreams of the Chris Matthews/Andrea Mitchell ad nauseum crowd.
    The important thing is to not become complacent in either direction (which I doubt is happening, at least not with Hillbuzzers) or succumb to those fears and last-minute insecurities (for your own mental health). :)
    Even in blue, blue New York City, I am really beginning to wonder what is going on. NYC is so blue it’s hard to imagine it being anything other than a deep shade of blue, blue, blue,
    BUT…..
    Today the second major New York City daily newspaper came out and endorsed MITT ROMNEY!!! Yes, I kid you not! The New York Daily News, one of the three major daily NYC newspapers, with a huge circulation here in the city and surrounding areas, endorsed Romney on the front page of the Sunday paper!
    Here is a link to the editorial endorsement:
    http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/choice-america-future-mitt-romney-article-1.1196299
    The New York Daily News is not exactly a right-wing/conservative paper….In fact, next to the New York Times, it usually follows the leftist line. I NEVER expected it would endorse Romney! That was quite a shock for me this morning when I saw the Sunday paper, a really nice one, by the way.
    The New York Post, one of the other major 3 daily NYC papers, also with a huge circulation, has already endorsed Romney. They did so a couple of weeks ago, also on the front page.
    As seems to be the case in most other areas of the country, there are pretty much NO bumper stickers, signs, T-shirts, buttons, etc. supporting ANY candidates on display here in the city. I have seen ONE Obama button walking around the city. That’s right, in a city of more than 8 million people who went virtually ape-s*** for Obama in 2008, virtually NOTHING this time around. That one lone button was only about 1.5 inches in diameter and sort of hidden under the lapel of the guy wearing it. He didn’t look like he felt too safe with it on display. I gave him a “look” and he wouldn’t meet my eye.
    This morning I got a panicky email at 7:45 AM from a local store owner I know asking me to call her as soon as I could. She wanted to talk about the election. I called her and she wanted me to talk her down from her fear Obama was going to win. She said someone had just come into her store and criticized her for wanting Romney. She has been complaining about Obama now for weeks. She is terrified he will win. Her business has really suffered in the last 4 years.
    I don’t personally know ANYONE who will admit they are voting for Obama. This includes people who thought he was G-d’s gift to the world last election, the greatest thing to hit the planet since sliced bread!
    BUT…..I DO know a lot of people who ARE voting for Romney this time around! They are very vocal and proud to admit they are voting for Romney. Many of them voted for Obama last time around.
    The other day a black woman I know casually who lives in my neigborhood initiated a discussion with me about “Obamacare.” She started the conversation by saying, “Election, election…..I don’t know what to do about the election and this Obamacare…..” So, I went into a discussion with her about Obamacare and how bad it is and what a harmful effect it will have on everything from delivery of heathcare, coverage, cost, businesses, etc., etc. By the time I got finished with her, I think I had her convinced. It seems, I think, a lot of people who support Obamacare think healthcare in this country needs to be revised and improved, but they think Obamacare is the only solution; so, if you don’t support Obamacare, you don’t support healthcare reform. I did my best to disabuse her of this notion. Gave her Romney’s version, i.e. revise it according to states’ needs, maintain competition, etc.
    Then we got to talking about Obama. She hates him. She said, “He’s not “black; he’s bi-racial. He was raised by white people.” She went on to say he has no clue what the black experience in America is like; he does not descend from American blacks – does not share that history. She thinks he AND Michelle are crass and have no class.
    Another person I met on the street today and asked who she was voting for admitted she was voting for Romney. Her reason: Abortion. Obama’s position goes against her church’s stand. She voted FOR Obama last election. When I said to her,”Great! So glad you’re voting for Romney!” a big smile came on her face. She was hesitant to admit she was voting Romney and seemed so relieved when she saw the response she got was a big smile.
    By the way, for those of you who thought Sandy was going to help Obama, I don’t see that happening here (at least) AT ALL. No one is talking about Obama, or how “great’ he’s been at handling this crisis. There is no attention on him at all. Our governor, Andrew Cuomo, seems to be doing a decent job trying to martial resources and pressure the electric companies to get on it and get the job done, or risk losing their licenses/certificates to provide service in the region. It seems to be working.
    Bloomberg, who did come out and support Obama, seems to be in the doghouse here in the city. Gov. Cuomo is making very light mention, if any at all, about Obama. People here seem to be more focused on getting the city back up and running and taking care of those left in such dire circumstances than anything else and Obama really doesn’t fit into that picture. He came to the region, well…he came to NJ, for a few hours one day and then took off to campaign. Nothing he did or said impressed anyone…..it was almost like a non-event.
    Also, keep in mind, supposedly when people are miserable, they tend to take it out on their current elected officials….That does not bode well for the Democrats, especially federal government agencies and/or Obama, here in this region. We’re still too early in this process for anyone to be able to say, “Oh, the government, i.e. Obama, local Dems, etc., really did a great job!”
    So….
    I’m waiting with baited breath for Tuesday night. As I said above, I think it’s going to be a landslide. I am so, so curious to see how the NYC vote ends up. I have a feeling it’s going to surprise a lot of people.
    I just can’t wait to see what happens!
    And I can’t wait till we have our new president and vice president, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for 2012!!!
    Free at last! Free at last!!!
    Here in N. FL we had billions of Obama/Biden signs in 2008. Everywhere you turned you’d see a sign, bumper sticker or t shirt. Not this year! I’ve seen maybe 4 signs total. 1 bumper sticker and NO t shirts. Even my dem friends on FB are not talking. We have TONS of RR signs and bumper stickers in town though. TONS. And I’ve even seen a few t shirts :)
      I have a peace in my heart about this election. God’s hand is on Romney. Obama was our wakeup call as a nation. We are awake and we won’t be fooled again. Not for a very, very long time.
    Obama is suppossed to be taking the state of MA on an overwhelming level of at least 14% points (used to be 32%) but I have NEVER seen 1 sign for Obama/Biden.
    My cousin drives South Shore and she sees plenty for Romney/Ryan.
    She has not seen any Obama signs either. What kind of polls are taken here? I know Suffolk Polls favor the democrats because he is a liberal. Boston Globe is so biased they are worthless and the other few sources are all democratic based or Union based polling companies. They have no validity.
    I think Polling will be really scrutinized in the future after this election.
    Many polling companies will lose credibility and close down. No one will pay any attention.
    I am tired of the propoganda coming from Axlerod and Plouffe.
    Thanks so much, Kevin, for your anti-fear porn. I have wanted to muzzle Fox News pundits frequently lately as they cringe and duck at nearly any criticism of conservatism and Romney. What a lack of spine. You say it is about making money but I think it is just plain fear of being seen as “unsophisticated” or incorrect.
    I am in Orange County, CA. The Obama bumper stickers are on college student vehicles this time around. That isn’t to say that Republicans are a majority here; we used to be but this standing was eroded dramatically under CA’s last governator.
    I tried to submit a comment earlier about international views. I was just traveling in Scotland and Ireland with people from Canada, Australia and the US. The Aussies almost universally expect to oust their Labor Party in November 2013. This is largely because of government $$ spending. They regretted the end of John Howard’s government (as did I).
    Please devote a discussion in the future about fixing the media.
    Again, I love your political website.
    Here in Indiana farm country, one of our neighbors painted an Obama symbol on his barn in 2008. Some vandals (not me! LOL) painted it over as “nObama” but at first the owners repainted he emblem.
    Now it’s been all painted over, back to plain white.
    Makes you wonder how they are voting!
    It will be interesting to hear in the coming months how the Amish voted. They aren’t supposed to according to the church, but they occasionally vote absentee. A surprising number (to us) voted in 2008 and I wonder if they will do so again this year.
    As for election night, our long-standing family tradition is to have pizza and Cokes and eat in front of the TV instead of at the table.
    I am also serving serving chips, salsa, and guacomole — supposedly a Romney favorite and an antipasta tray — supposedly Ryan loves Italian food.
    Also, I just bought a case of beer from a local, NC brewry to honor my fellow NC voters — who will be adding 15 electoral college votes to the Romney/Ryan win column!!!
    I took my daughter to the Fairfax County, VA board of elections office to drop off her absentee ballot before she headed back to college (she was worried that it wouldn’t make it through the mail in time) Virginia doesn’t have early voting, but it does have “in person absentee voting” There were at least 200-250 people in line waiting to fill out their absentee ballots. The Republicans manning the booth outside said that the lines had been like that all morning and they had never seen numbers like that, even in 2008. In Fairfax County alone Republicans have made 15x the number of voter contacts that they made in 2008. Oh, and the male Republican worker was a dead ringer for Mitt Romney!
    When Romney is elected is he going to be able to fix the fiscal mess? There are likely all kinds of financials scandals that have yet to see the light, there is the credit downgrade, the debt, and deficit. You may not be able to recover from this.
      That is what Americans do. We just needed good leadership. We will have it now. It will be noisy, there will be some bitter fights in our Congress, but we will get it done. As for the pipeline, we had a leftist in the White House who was beholden to the far left of the environmentalist lobby. It will get done now. Bank it.
    I looked for anything Obama and saw no signs or bumper stickers. There are some bumper stickers out there but I didn’t see any today, only a large Heck for Congress sign. This is different this year and Democrats are not as excited as Republicans. I do think they are demoralized and will not vote. I personally know 3 people who voted for Obama 4 years ago who are just not voting.
    I’ve highly recommended it to my conservative mailing list for just that reason.
    I’m in Pasadena, CA in an are which is 3 to 1 Dem over Repub and which has a large population of gov’t employees many of whom are African American.
    We still have more O signs and just a few RRs, but there are many less this time than in 2008. More restricted to the party faithful, I think.
    The Repubs & Tea Partiers around the Pasadena area are fired up. Yesterday there were >100 volunteers at the GOP office for last-minute precinct walking.
    Around here we are cautiously optimistic and passing links around like your site, but are tremendously grateful for all you and others are doing to get the real word out in spite of the [he becomes briefly incoherent in spittle-flecked fury] minitru.
    What a wonderful thread and God bless you, all of yours, all your commenters, and all of us on Tuesday!
    hi everyone. Just wanting to let you know we survived the storm. I realize now, when you are the ones being hit, you have no communication with the outside world. You lose your lights, if you have a land line phone and it works, you are fortunate, cell service is spotty and you rely on candles, flashlights and an emergency radio.
    I haven’t had a chance to read but slowly, over the week, the devastation sank in. You think you have it bad but then you hear about the people in long beach and the rockaways and broad channel (no one is even mentioning them on the news) breezy point and staten island and you feel bad for wanting your heat and lights back in your house, you realize at least you have a house, a lot of people from breezy pointI
    I”m at a friend’s home to get warm and I had to drive very far to get here. Tomorrow people have to go to work so I have to drive back. There is no gas around. There are lines of individual people to fill gas cans for their generators and lines of cars to ge gas. It’s bizarre you burn a lot of gas to wait to get gas. You only get communication from people going to work and seeing other people. Many people were ordered to work only to find no internet and no heat. From places like Brooklyn to get to Manhattan it took people literally hours and to get to work and to get home.
    It is unseasonably bitter bold. Winter doesn’t ;suddenly arrive in one week.
    I will try to post again. I’m using a computer I’m not used to using and I don’t want to hog it. But, trust me, it’s worse than they are saying and people are really upset, really upset. Plus it’s bitter cold and people can’t understand why we have a gasoline shortage.
      Wow Brand New Reader. We got our power back yesterday morning and the gas is getting sparse but otherwise everything is normal. Our gas is getting short and we live in CT, I’m wondering: is there some kind of shortage? Or is just in this area? Meanwhile, nothing on the news about this at all, just the usual Happy Clap Trap from the LSM.
      I hope your situation and the situation down there in NJ & NY improves very soon. Meanwhile, just keep the faith – the rest of us will take care of business!
        I can’t speak for CT but here in NY I’m hearing a lot of the problem was not so much a “shortage” of gas, but the inability to get gas to the gasoline pipelines. New York Harbor was closed, so tankers in the harbor full of gas couldn’t off-load their gasoline. The harbor is now open. Also, many of the pipeline hubs in the region had no power so they could not deliver gas from the pipelines to the regions they normally supply. Now many of them are operational, so the gas is beginning to flow again.
        It’s still going to take a while for things to get back to any semblence of “normal,” but they should definitely start improving.
        I’m not sure where CT gets its gas, but I’d imagine it is supplied by some of the same pipelines NY, NJ and Long Island are….so I imagine you will also benefit from the situations described above.
        If you’d like to read more about it, you can click on the link below, particularly the section under the heading, “The following is the current operational status of regional fuel terminal and delivery facilities”:
        http://www.governor.ny.gov/press/11032012gasshortageupdate
        Cuomo gave a pretty detailed, lengthy press conference this afternoon. He explained the gas situation and what was being done about it in quite a lot of detail. Surprised it was not covered more extensively on LSM/minitru….oh, well on second thought, I guess I’m not surprised.
        Wishing you the best – Hoping things improve for you and for Brand New Reader very soon.
        Keep the faith. It WILL get better.
    Kevin, dropping this link from J Christian Adams
    http://pjmedia.com/blog/ohio-somali-voters-acorn-tactics-and-voter-fraud-allegations/?singlepage=true
    It explains quite a bit about the Ohio law and what was observed. I doubt that this Somali community will have a great impact on the final results. I still think that there will be enough Republican voters to cancel out this voter fraud.
    A few weeks ago I was at an all day class at Cleveland State University. The faculty warned us to come early, as Obama was to be on campus that day. I did come early, and sure enough, just squeaked into campus as they were closing the surrounding streets.
    Our class was in session all day, so there was not much opportunity to get out to see the “huge rally.” But when we broke for lunch we were amazed there were even fewer people on the streets than usual. I didn’t even have to wait in line to get coffee.
    Our teacher let us out early, as we were supposed to be hitting a lot of traffic. For the first time ever, I left the parking deck and was on the freeway within 5 minutes. That’s NEVER happened before. Out of curiosity I checked our local news to see how many people were there. THERE WAS NO COVERAGE AT ALL!
    Last week Obama and Stevie Wonder came to Cleveland State. I hear the crowd was something like 200-300 people. Stevie Wonder would have done better by himself.
      keats5 –
      One day you’ll have to let me know how all the construction on Euclid Avenue turned out. I haven’t been back to Cleveland in a long time and wonder if all the money they spent on the Euclid avenue project was worth it.
    Oh, I forgot to say what we’re doing on election day.
    We’re having friends over. We’ll pop some popcorn, pour some wine and brew some TEA. I printed out electoral maps and asked everyone to bring red and blue crayons. We’ll also keep a tally of the electoral votes as we go. We have two new voters among us, so this will be their first time seeing their candidates win. We’re from Ohio, and we all look forward to coloring in our state red, right after Pennsylvania.
    Kevin and all the posters, thanks for keeping us abreast of what is going on around the country. It’s refreshing to hear, and also very comforting.
    I have felt so stressed the last few days. I want this over and pray for a new beginning. Today I went out a put two American flags in a huge flower pot by my curbside mailbox. Just as a reminder to people in my neighborhood. Our neighborhood has about 75 homes and it’s in a circle where you have to drive by to get out on a main street. There are no signs in here except for a couple of local people running for congress.
    I am grateful for this website and I think after Tuesday, all of us need to give thanks to Kevin (in whatever way we can). He certainly deserves it:-)
    America is still the home of the brave and the land of the FREE. We must keep it that way. Best wishes to all of you.
    Kevin, your posts are really getting me through this. You are always so articulate, entertaining and positive. I send your articles to all of my girlfriends because they are so anxious about the election with msm saying that the race is running so tight.
    I am from Texas but am currently in Central Mexico (just sent in my absentee ballot!). All the Gringos here are Liberal. I am definitely in the minority so it has been like swimming upstream since I arrived in September. How can intelligent people believe everything that the mdm puts out?? I like your idea of having a nice buffet on election day and think I will order some enchiladas verdes, frijoles and guacamole and enjoy the show! Thank you again for keeping us positive!
    I tried to brave the Daily Caller’s election predictions. Ugh. half of them think it’s going to be an Obama win, with him easily taking Ohio. One guy made an argument for nate Silver’s totally 100% accurate prediction. Only one guy had the sack to predict a Romney win.
    After they wasted last weekend ****teasing us on their supposedly MAJOR sex scandal, which turned out to be some Senator no one had ever heard of, I should have known better than to go back there.
    Consider that bookmark deleted.
