DOOM ANTIDOTE: Democrats losing badly even in gerrymandered Illinois districts — 10/14/2012

Posted on October 14, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Featured Content, Open Threads

[ Photo sent around via email depicting Barack Obama as the "everlasting jobstopper"; a nice piece of creativity en route to Trick or Treat season ]

Someone asked me why a “DOOM ANTIDOTE” is still needed when it looks like since the Denver debate not even the most conniving of Tokyo Roses in conservative ranks has been able to rev the Eeyores out there up with any “We’re doomed!” reports of “Obama’s winning this!”. Something magical happened at that debate between Romney and Obama that has prevented the Democrats’ Ministry of Truth (Minitru, for short) in the national media from being able to claim that “Romney’s campaign is imploding!” or “Obama’s inevitable!”.  None of that was ever true.  Romney was never in trouble.  Romney’s campaign has been well-run, professional, competent, and I think brilliant at times.  But Minitru was succeeding for a while in revving up the Eeyores (those selfish, attention-seekers out there who enjoy any excuse to bray “We’re doomed!” so they can solicit comfort and reassurance from those around them…if you can’t tell, I have a hard time stomaching these people because they really are energy vampires and emotional terrorists) to damage the Romney campaign from within its own ranks by causing Republicans to curl up into fetal positions and abandon the race.  Why Eeyores believe a damn word that Minitru tells them on their tee-vee or in newsprint is a question I’ve struggled with for four and a half years now, since I first identified Eeyores as a major problem in the 2008 presidential primaries.  What makes Eeyores so dangerous is that often times the Eeyore doesn’t even realize the damage he or she is doing and won’t stop to think about how much his or her panicked actions actually help Democrats (the people the Eeyore supposedly doesn’t want to win the election).

A few weeks ago, I turned the Daily Open Thread into a “Doom Antidote” because I principally grew tired of seeing Tokyo Roses like Erik Erikson at RedState.com, Allahpundit at HotAir.com, Peggy Noonan at the WSJ, and George Will (wherever he’s kept) write headlines full of DOOM for Romney that had no basis in reality, but were instead rooted in the lies that Minitru was pushing in skewed polling.  Do not for a second think these people did not know what they were doing — all of them were deliberately breeding Eeyores in conservative ranks to help Minitru solidify a meme that Obama was unbeatable.  The only way the Left’s propaganda lies could seem legitimate to many Eeyores was if conservative writers pushed them too.  I am sure Erik Erikson, in particular, knew what he was writing about DOOM in the polls for Romney was wrong…but he did it anyway because it no doubt curried favor with his bosses at CNN, who now pay him to be a “go-to conservative” pundit when programs on the tee-vee call for one.  ”Allahpundit” is an anonymous writer, which I think shouldn’t be allowed at HotAir, and uses a picture of a sad looking dog as his headshot…but he largely worked in concert with Erikson to demoralize readers of that other site by claiming Minitru’s rigged polls for Obama were genuine.

None of the pre-debate propaganda is working, so the Tokyo Roses have backed off…for now…but I’m sure they’ll be back.  Most of them have financial incentives to push whatever meme the Left wants them to push and they all very much enjoy the kudos from Minitru for writing the kinds of stories that breed Eeyores and demoralize conservatives.  I’ve said before that I think there needs to be professional consequences of some kind for all these people after Romney wins the election so that in the future conservative writers don’t clandestinely help Democrats the way Erikson, Allahpundit, Noonan, and Will have in this election.  You just can’t be a considered a real conservative writer if you see dollar signs in the air when you decide to purposefully write things designed to bolster lies the Left is telling to hurt a Republican candidate in an important election.  That should not be allowed to happen without a major outcry in conservative ranks.

I’m watching every day for these people to get back to their old games, and I hope you’re watching too.  So the DOOM ANTIDOTE continues through the election because the DOOM REPORTS could recommence at any moment. There is too much financial incentive for Erik Erikson, in particular, not to use his site to try helping Obama again the way CNN wants him to do. Always be vigilant against and mindful of DOOM REPORTS and call them out as such when you see them.

************************************************************

Speaking of seeing things…yesterday you might have missed an article by Mike Flynn over at Breitbart.com that dealt with Democrats’ disaster in Illinois regarding their redistricting schemes. Read the whole thing, but the takeaway is that Democrats had the power in this state to redistrict however they wanted and to essentially carve up the Congressional races this year to their maximum advantage.  When doing this, they assumed that everything Minitru said about Obama and the 2008 race was true and that his election was “a transformational one” that would lead to “permanent Democrat majorities” for years to come.  The plan was to redistrict Illinois so that Democrats would pick up 5 or 6 new seats in the state and this would be part of how Democrats “took back the House”.  Instead, the way the 2012 election is playing out, Democrats will pick up ZERO seats in Illinois because 2008 was a fluke and not a transformational election at all.

You kind of need to go with your gut here for a minute and please let me know in comments if you can’t see this instinctively on your own…but this is a harbinger of massive destruction for Democrats in the November election if all their plans for picking up seats in Illinois’ Congressional races have collapsed.  This means Democrats grossly overestimated their level of support in this country and they believed their own 2008 hype.  THAT means that 2008 really was a fluke and a fad and Democrats foolishly believed that all the mass-hysteria in support of Obama the candidate was some sort of permanent love affair the American people were strangely also having with the same Democrat agenda of “transformation” for this country that voters had rejected for decades.

Democrats rigged the Illinois redistricting based on their belief that suddenly the country would vote massively in favor of Democrats in all future elections…and the redistricted races were setup so that Democrat candidates would win in cake walks.  Instead, Republicans are winning in places that Democrats should have cruised to election or re-elecion with ease.  If this is happening in Illinois, which was the Democrats most favored “home field” then it’s happening all across the country too.  Democrats do not have 1/4 of the support from the public that they believed they had since they presumed that 2008 was “transformational” and not a fluke.

THIS is why all the polls that Minitru has forced on you are so wrong…they, too, assumed that 2008 provides a valid benchmark of support for Democrats…and no one is treating it like the fad and fluke that it really was.  I think this is because, largely, we’ve never had a presidential election fad in this country before where a candidate like Obama becomes a “happening” like the Cabbage Patch Kids, New Kids on the Block, leg warmers, Furrbies, or Beanie Babies and rational people get sucked up into zealous craziness wanting to participate in the sugar-high of the fad…before the whole thing crashes down to Earth and everything related to the fad ends up in the discount remainders bin.

THAT is where Democrats are right now in 2012.  THAT is why the redistricted Illinois races are not going the way Democrats planned.  THAT is why Republicans will keep the House, take the Senate, and send Romney/Ryan to the White House.

Now, Minitru’s main job is to convince you that your own eyes are lying and that Obama is EVEN MORE popular than ever but all you need to do is drive around your home town to know that the Obama fad from 2008 long ago ended.  I think it crested in mid-January 2009, right around the time of his Inauguration, and was definitely over by the time Democrats were forcing Obamacare through the Senate despite the cries of constituents to not ram through something so nation-changing WITHOUT EVEN READING THE BILL FIRST.  By 2010, everything Obama-related was in the remainders bin like discarded Beanie Babies.  There has been no massive rediscovery of the Obama fad in 2012 and there never will be because this is not how fads work.  They are never rediscovered and made hot again.  Some fads attempt to come back, true, but they are never the same “happening” and are just mainly for nostalgists.

The only people voting for Obama in this election are those who’ll vote Democrat no matter who the candidate is and those people who are nostalgic for the Hope and Change that Obama promised in 2008 that these people really believed would magically change their lives.  No new people are added to Obama’s fad, and many of those formerly infatuated with his fad have moved on from their lives and away from him.  He does not win the election as a result.

If you have any attention-seeking Eeyores in your life or if you see writers like Erik Erikson trumpeting Minitru’s talking points in favor of Obama, please remind them of all this and ask them if anything they are saying logically meshes with what you can see WITH YOUR OWN EYES.  The excitement and love affair is just not there for Obama in 2012 and he honestly seems to know it based on the performance he gave at that debate in Denver.  The thrill is gone.  The current president was either seriously depressed, physically ill, or on drugs at that debate.  I think it’s a mix of all three.  He reminded me of a water-stained, dusty, mold-covered Beanie Baby that has been living in the attic in a cardboard box for the last four years…since the person who once loved it so much moved on to something else and left it up there.

This man is not winning anything in November. He is going to lose, and lose big.

Just how big is the question of the moment and I don’t know how to answer that because we’ve never been in a position like this, where someone was elected to the presidency in a fad and the fad expires abruptly before even the mid-way point of his presidency.  I think Election Day is going to be beyond brutal for Obama.  I think people feel betrayed and duped…and are angry enough to deliver Democrats more than a few surprises.  If the Illinois redistricted Congressional races are not going as planned for Democrats and these contests were SPECIFICALLY designed to be cake walks for their candidates…then just imagine how decimated the Left is going to be in places where they couldn’t hand-pick the boundaries of the election.

I think we’re going to see states Democrats have always counted on flip to Romney.  I think all previous firewalls of the Left are going to collapse.  I really see something like an eruption of Mount Vesuvius leveling the Democrat Party wherever it stands, coast to coast.

These are the last days of the Obama regime…the final collapse of the notion of his fad…and I hope it all takes Minitru and the Tokyo Roses in conservative ranks down with it.

**************************************************************

This is an Open Thread so please tell us what’s on YOUR mind.

Do you agree with the above and see it happening near you?

Give us a Ground Report from your part of the country!  Remember:  Minitru won’t report on what’s happening by you.  What YOU see and hear is more important than anything MSNBC or CNN is saying.  So please chime in with a ground report of how you think your neighbors in your state will be voting. It is crucial to this election to get that word out because it directly contradicts any DOOM REPORTS that Minitru tries running to breed Eeyores in Republican ranks. Eeyores are really Obama’s last hope for reelection.  It’s our job to shut Eeyores down.  You can help by providing insight into what’s happening on the ground by you that will force even the worst of the Eeyores to realize that Minitru is lying to them again and there is no way Obama is going to win.

The real question is just how much he’ll lose by…so let’s do all we can to make it a HUGE and UNPRECEDENTED loss for Democrats!

Since this is an open thread, I thought I would pass along this story on Breitbart from this morning.

Looks like the leftist vote bribing machine is at it again. This time in Ohio where early voting is taking place.

As Kevin posted earlier, make sure everyone takes a picture or video of this kind of stuff going on in your neck of the woods and report it to the Election Commission, Secretary of State, or whatever alphabet agency required to get this kind of stuff stopped.

My husband has a small mechanic shop (East Texas). Just this past week, he told me about a Mr. Ruiz who came into the shop. He said his mother has always been a ‘yellow-dog Democrat’ as we call them here in Texas. (would vote for an ol’ yaller dog if that’s who the Dems put up) Anyway, Ruiz said that his mom came to him this past weekend and told him that ‘I am voting for Romney! I just can’t vote for this bunch the Democrats are shoving at us this year! Mr. Ruiz also told him how in San Antonio, the Dems were giving $5 and a free chicken dinner at a pre-vote event, in the last election. He said his family and Hispanic friends went…the took the $5, they ate the free chicken dinner, and then they all voted for the Republicans on the ticket. (I think it was the last local election) He also told my husband that most of his friends and family and people he knows in that community are either not going to vote at all, or will vote R/R. They do NOT like Obama!

Evidently, one of Ohio’s big leftie journalists released a tweet yesterday, citing PPP polls- 19% of Ohioans have already voted, and it was overwhelmingly (like 80%) for Obama. Of those who still have not voted, Romney had a six point lead. My colleagues at the local Romney office and I all had the same reaction- not possible.

Even if these PPP figures were accurate, it would suggest Obama to win Ohio by a landslide. Considering he won by 4.6% in 2008- not possible.

Point is, the media is at it still.

This does concern me. Some time back I had read somewhere that many believe Reid had won in Nevada by messing with the early vote. I wonder if something like that is going on in Ohio.

Being from NV, I can tell you that it was not the early vote that had Reid ahead. As a matter of fact, when he had good clues (insider dems in the elections office) that he was behind he called out the unions to get busses to take the “voters” to the polls on election day and vote for him.

I think this article sums up what has been going on with obama. Florida Education Board passed education standards based on RACE. Basically, if your Asian you are held to the highest standard and if your Black you are held to the lowest standard. Of course, they are being demonized for this but I think they just pointed out what is REALLY happening with this POTUS along with society in general. He isn’t being held to the same standard as ANY other President in history because he appears to be black.

Just read that article, and if that isn’t a classic example of RACISM I don’t know what is. But it is a clear indication of the cultural deficiencies of the “black community” where the ability to read, speak and write proper standard English is not only not valued, but condemned. Read the comments to that article and you’ll see examples of black people who are vilified by their own families because they rose above the low educational standards of the “black community.”

By the way, when do we get to have a “white community?????”

    Kevin,

This morning on WGN Radio they were eagerly reporting that in early voting president Obama is leading something like 51% to Romney 39% or something like that…there was no reference to currently how many states have early voting open. I’m assuming there are many states that haven’t opened it up yet. This reporting is more of the mintrue trying to sway results and making it seem like Obama is already up in a landslide.

Do you know in early voting are the results realized real time/daily? Do you read anything into what they are reporting?

I just did a google search on it, and I guess it varies by state, but the states where I was able to read a “rulebook” it sounded like those states are required to secure the ballots until election day when they are counted.

Maybe we’re hearing about exit polls rather than actual voting results. And we all know how accurate exit polls are…NOT!

I’m somewhat worried that early voting — before the first debate – did go for zero. There are a lot of people who are knee jerk voters and just don’t look at the facts – partly because they haven’t paid attention yet. Wonder how many of these regret their early vote?

Personally I think early voting dates should be shrunk until after the debates are over. There’s a reason Obama wants early voting to continue.

Two notes of interest. I find them interesting anyway.

First, as of right now, Obama’s RCP average is 45.9%, the lowest he’s been at since June when there were a lot more undecideds.

Second is a poll out of Arizona. The poll itself is absurd, shows Obama up 44-42 among likelies, but doesn’t give a partisan breakdown and it notes that it’s weighted based on expected turnout, but they obviously don’t say what that is. But here’s the interesting part. There’s section that shows how unlikely certain groups say they are to vote. According to the poll, 15% of Democrats say they are not voting and only 4% of Republicans. The numbers are even higher for minorities (21%) and those under 35 (17%). Obama’s base is simply not turning out to vote this year.

No way, Arizona will not go for Obama. There are a couple of small pockets of lefties (Flagstaff for one) but most Arizonans are so anti-Obama it isn’t funny. They could easily raise a militia. I’d be afraid to wear an Obama T-shirt in my brother’s neck of the woods (and I literally mean woods.)

I really believe the O camp is trying to get Romney to spend time and money in some of the states where he doesn’t need to.

Saw Atlas Shrugged II — Reading Theather chain put it in their oldest, run down, broken sound, no cushion seats, ”mini’ theater for opening night.

Movie is good — looks like a bigger budget from the first, better, continues the story…

Yes, my husband and I saw the movie last night also in Indiana. It was good and the sound was better. I agree that it was made better. The American spirit was evident albeit small but not quenched. This really is a must see and we need to support it.

Like I said before, your Daily Doom Antidotes are a welcome read. I look at them as messages of encouragement to the troops, like when I was in the Air Force our wing commander and the like would encourage us during a particularly difficult exercise / war game. Keep them up!

I’m really psyched to hear about what’s happening in Illinois. The fact that Illinois is very Republican outside Chicagoland and the enthusiasm for Obama there is greatly reduced, do you think it’s the realm of posibility Romney could win the state? That would be something, wouldn’t it?

Another “little” ground report. Last night I attended my wife’s high school class reunion. During the last one in ’07 there was a lot of talk about Obama and Hillary even though the election was more than a year away. The ladies (it was a Catholic all girls high school) were very enthisiastic progressives and excited about Obama and Hillary. This year NOBODY brought politics up. We sat with the same group of my wife’s friends, so I went in there expecting talk about the election and me being again the only conservative except for a couple of the husbands who are also conservatives. I was ready to rock! Nothing, zero, zip, nada as far as poilitical talk. Quite a change.

Keep it up Kevin. We’re gonna vote the bums out.

Four years ago I saw nothing but Obama bumper stickers, no McCain stickers that I can recall, our state went red that year. This year I’ve seen a few O stickers, but far more Romney stickers.

I’ve never seen a political sign in my neighborhood. Last week, down the street from me a Romney sign went up. At the front entrance to our addition, the very first house has an Obama sign. The next day, the house next to it had a Romney sign.

I am in NJ. Our town is normally pretty red but we do have 3 colleges in our little town which can skew the larger numbers. In 2008, there were Obama signs all over the place. I was one of maybe 2 McCain signs even though I knew people who would vote R, they were not fired up. Not once when I worked the GOP tent at our annual fall town festival that year did anyone ask for anything other than local candidates (most town council) This year, two houses with O signs in my section of town (down from about 20) and 10-15 Romney signs (up from 2 or 3 in this area in ’08) People swarmed our tent this year, went out of there way to thank us for being out there. We originally did not have any Romney stuff based on what happened in ’08. By the first hour, that mistake was clear and my hubby went and picked up a bunch from HQ. They were all gone in less than an hour. Two of those who took signs were students at two of the local colleges who couldn’t wait to get them up and engage in the abuse that was sure to come down on them. Bumper stickers for R all over the roads in NJ, very few new O ones. Yesterday more than 800 activists came together in Northern Jersey for training and preparing for walking, phone banking etc. More than I have ever seen. Folks are fired up in NJ for Romney, not just anti-Obama.

I’m curious about something: When I was in college, you had to register to vote at your “permanent address,” which meant your parent’s house. So I either had to go home to vote, or vote absentee. We were NOT permitted to vote in the city where the college was, because they did not consider a campus address to be “permanent.” I wonder if anyone else remembers the same thing?

I lived in Wisconsin in 2004 and 2008. I remember lots of college kids bragging that they were registered at home AND at school, and got to vote twice in those elections. I mean, they were bragging to TV reporters! Of course the liberal Secretary of State in WI did nothing.

A Happy Sunday to everyone in the resistance!

Yesterday I mentioned that Bruce Springstein is going to be campaigning with Obama this week. The Boss will be performing at pro-O rallies this Thursday, Oct. 18th in Parma, OH and Ames, IA. Earlier in the year Springtein said he would not be campaigning this time around. Why the change of heart Boss? Feeling like this one is slipping away from you? Yet another sign of desperation on the part of the O campaign and something that Kevin has said to keep an eye out for.

Kevin has also taught us that words are important, so I wanted to do a little word association…

    Bruce Springstein =
    Lefty rock has-been =
    Born to Run

    Barack Obama =
    Benghazi =
    Time to Run

    Can you think of more?

Actually, if you or anyone you know lives in OH or IA and will be going to a counter protest at these rallies, something like this would make a good protest sign. A shortened version for a sign could be…

    The Boss = Cover Me
    Obama = Cover-up

    Spread the word.

The IL Republicans have to get snaps for taking the bad hand dealt them.. Basically they didn’t have the Governor’s mansion to stop the egregious redistricting because the candidate didn’t play well in the ‘burbs. And then Kirk has been out of commission for the year due to the stroke. It’s going to be a nice storyline for them to get this win.

As for what people not living in swing states can do, I’m sure that there are competitive House races in your non-swing states. IL Republican House Members could probably use your help to get out the vote.

      So agree!

THIS is the video to send to friends, family, young people, young families, women, single men, minorities, fence sitters — really, anyone remotely persuadable.

In a simple, heartfelt and compelling way, Mr. Peterffy talks about the single, essential difference between a free and socialist society, and why the former will always succeed and the latter will always fail. And, for the purposes of this election, he associates one party with supporting a freedom agenda and the other party with supporting a socialist agenda. You learn more in these 60 seconds than you can learn in years of poli-sci classes and volumes of political books.

Great takeaway line — “In socialism, it is true the rich get poorer. But the poor also get poorer.”

    Good Morning All
I live in very blue WA state. Last election O signs were everywhere.
This time I have not seen one but have been noticing a lot of Romney signs going up. I drive 40 miles each way to work and not one O sign.

    I am loving it.

There is even one business along Hwy 167 that has a HUGE neon sign that you can’t possibly miss. They have been touting the Romney/Ryan sign since Ryan was added to the ticket,

I have also noticed that there are a lot of local Republican signs everywhere. I truly hope that this time WA state will have a fair election as opposed to when Gregoire stole the last one for Gov.

The one problem we have here in WA is that King County is very leftist and they have a large population. They pretty much negate all the rest of our votes. Hopefully they have seen the light.

Thank you Kevin for your articles. They give us all hope .

Totally agree! I have quit watching Foxnews totally. Fair and Balanced means they lie half the time and tell the truth half the time. I think their polls have been among the most skewed. They don’t want to be the only ones showing Romney ahead because it would make it look like they are showing favoritism. Is it too much to ask for them to just be honest lol.

I think Romney has been running a great campaign and is building up great support from the grassroots while Obama is relying on others to win it for him like always. I think after the election all of the MSM outlets including Foxnews will lose major credibility.

Rush of course will be stronger than ever after the election. And websites like this one and Breitbart.

In summary down with Fair and Balanced up with Biased and Honest!

    Quick ground report:

I was in South Carolina for a couple of weeks. During that time my hubby and I did a lot of driving in the state – mostly on the “blue roads” as he hates the interstates.

So driving through the state on the back roads, I noticed in the small, predominantly black towns, we saw LOTS of Obama signs. In the larger, whiter, towns and cities, it was all Romney. Saw very few bumper stickers. But even if Obama gets all of the black vote in SC, they are only 28% of the population.

We traveled with a friend from Michigan. She said Michigan is so dominated by the unions that they are even trying to put collective bargaining in the CONSTITUTION, so the current Republican governor can’t pass right-to-work legislation. Of course, if they don’t pass right-to-work legislation, Michigan will continue to founder economically. As for Obama, she said in the area where she lives, which is predominantly black and union, it appears to be all Obama all the time. But drive five miles down the highway to the more conservative areas to the south, it’s all Romney. I just hope the conservatives really get out the vote. The current Republican governor was elected in the 2010 Tea Party sweep when Gov. Snyder got 58% on the vote.

As for my neighborhood in GA, there are only Romney signs, but then we’re so Republican that we have several offices on the ballot where there is ONLY a Republican running.

It’s both ironic and funny that IL did redistricting to help the dems and tht it is not working. Somewhat the same thing happened in NV. The dems forced the last redistricting map to go to the state Supreme Court (after two previous had been vetoed by the republican gov). The final agreement for federal districts heavily favored dems via cutting up Las Vegas and extending the new districts to rural parts of the state that are literally hundreds of miles from LV. Unfotunately for the dems, as in IL, all the dems are behind in the polls even though they are using the bloated 2008 dem numbers. As a trade-off, state-wide legislative districts were allowed to favor the republicans.

The bottom line is that it looks very good for the republicans to regain the state Senate. Best laid plans gone in awry in both NV and IL. I think Kevin hit the nail on the head with his analysis that ended showing how the dems believe their own lies.

Anyway, today I saw a car in a strip mall parking lot and on it’s BACK WINDOW painted in large letters was “ROMNEY KICKS ASS, THERE’S HOPE FOR AMERICA!” And on top of that, the car had a New York plate!

We see a lot of people from NYC here, they come over to save on sales tax. BTW, BO won NY state with over 60% of the vote in 2008 and the margin was much higher in NYC. If there’s somebody driving about NYC with something like that painted on their car, you gotta wonder if the city people are fed up too.

I could see nothing for Romney, but Obama? That’s freaky. So, I’ve been wondering what IS going on in NYC? I’m seriously beginning to think this election is going to be A LOT different for him than last time. I doubt (as much as I would love to fantasize differently) NYS will go red, but I think it’s going to be a very different shade of blue this election. There is NO enthusiasm for O here. Young people, especially, seem very discouraged and indifferent. I wonder how many of them will even vote this time around. I dare not ask anyone about the election. It’s almost like asking them to talk about their just-deceased favorite pet puppy. I’m afraid the pain is just too much and they just don’t want to talk about it, or they can’t – it’s just too sad. I’m not sure what it all means, but I’m almost ready for anything, come Nov. 7.

I came across this interview today that I thought people might be able to relate to, especially those of us who once were Democrats and/or saw what the Left is capable of when one of its own sees the light and leaves the reservation, or cult, gang, or whatever you want to call the modern day Democrat Party.

    http://reliablesources.blogs.cnn.com/#

(scroll down to near the bottom to see the Buzz B. interview).

Here is a brief bio of Bissinger:

“Buzz Bissinger is among the nation’s most honored and distinguished writers. A native of New York City, Buzz is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the Livingston Award, the American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award and the National Headliners Award, among others. He also was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. He is the author of the highly acclaimed nonfiction books: Friday Night Lights, A Prayer for the City, Three Nights in August, Shooting Stars and Father’s Day.

Buzz has been a reporter for some of the nation’s most prestigious newspapers; a magazine writer with published work in Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine and Sports Illustrated; and a co-producer and writer for the ABC television drama NYPD Blue. Two of his works were made into the critically acclaimed films: Friday Night Lights and Shattered Glass . Three more are in active development. Friday Night Lights also served as the inspiration for the television series of the same name.”

This is the column he wrote that caused the uproar discussed in Howard Kurtz’s Reliable Sources interview this AM on CNN:

This is Buzz Bissinger’s official website: http://www.buzzbissinger.com/

This is his contact info in case you want to write him and show him a little support. (Apparently, he’s getting hammered by the Lefties):

That is so great. I saw that you posted it yesterday and I think I didn’t have time to comment. But, I have to tell you that I’ve shared your story with so many people today. It’s such a great story cause people when you tell them this exhale and go “oh yeah, I know”.

    Hi Kevin,
First, please accept my heartfelt gratitude for fighting the good fight for all of us who love this country and all she stands for. Second, re: Eeyores, I would add Rick Moran who writes for PJ Tatler and American Thinker among others (and I believe he has his own site). Today, e.g., I noted two articles postulating that Obama is ahead in early voting, which, had Moran done any research at all, could have been easily debunked. So what was his point? It certainly doesn’t appear to be designed to encourage Romney supporters.

Again, please keep up the good work. You are indeed a patriot and a warrior in the greatest cause.

Here’s an Anti Doom article that suggests the recent jump in consumer confidence is due to a nationwide assumption that Romney/Ryan are going to win in November and better times for America are coming!

I am in Central Florida along the East Coast, commonly referred to as The Space Coast. With what Obama has done to the space program we probably will not be known as The Space Coast for long!

Every day we check out various parking lots for apartment complexes and businesses for bumper stickers or other political messages. Happy to report that RR stickers outnumber BHO about 6 to one. Yard signs and larger are only for RR! There is a known scarcity of RR available but despite this, everyday we see more RR signs. People are ordering it on the internet or hand making them.

This was not the case in 2008, there were Obama indications everywhere! I’ve yet to see anyone wearing an O tee shirt but do see Romney shirts.

I was also wondering how any statistics can be made for returned absentee ballots. How can exit polls even be conducted? It’s not like people who have mailed in completed ballots are all standing in one place or that pollsters could be standing by every mailbox! We already know telephone responses are a hit or miss. It is my understanding that the ballots remain sealed until after Election Day.

In our area the ballot this year is painfully long. There are 12 numbered amendments with #7 retracted and renumbered as #8. If you don’t preread and predetermine how you are going to vote them, it would take you at minimum 30 minutes to just get a handle on them! To make it even more confusing, most of the amendments are already laws on the books! Our three Superior Court Judges contributed to this confusion so we will vote all three to be replaced!

So, by the third website with the same or a similar story headline, you’ve got to think that you hit on a meme.

The Blaze said that both campaigns have complained about the debate moderator.

The daily caller says the obama campaign has complained about the debate moderator.

In their “Top Headline Comments” thread the Ace of Spades HQ mentions this also.

Apparently Ms. Crowley has made some comments which lead the campaigns to believe that she might not be planning to adhere to the terms they agreed upon.

She choosed the questions from the audience which was chosen by gallup.

Interesting thing. A friend of mine was telling us the other day that the word “gallup” showed up as an incoming caller on her television screen but the phone never rang and when she went to pick it up, the line was open but no one spoke. I’m wondering if gallup has to prove they called a certain amount of people, by party and independents and asked them to join in the townhall. If you have a computer do this and don’t have humans doing it can you claim you made X amount of calls cause according to the computer, the calls were made? I’m wondering what the purpose of this is and how it will affect the debate?

“Second presidential debate (October 16, 2012, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY)

The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization.”
    http://www.debates.org/index.php?page=format

BTW, In searching the site, came across this:

“TOPICS FOR THIRD PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE ANNOUNCED BY MODERATOR Oct 12, 2012

Bob Schieffer, moderator of the third 2012 presidential debate, has selected the topics for that debate, which is on foreign policy. Mr. Schieffer stated:

Subject to possible changes because of news developments, here are the topics for the October 22 debate, not necessarily to be brought up in this order:”

There’s that “47%” number, again. I feel it’s not correct, should be much higher.

I have a question. When and why did campaign signs take
off the “democrat/donkey” or “republican/elephant” identification
    off of political (yard) signs?

Was this the result of some lawsuit or?

You know I’m listening to Rush and he’s talking about the deficit. I remember thinking that the left was asking Romney “what is your plan?” so much because that is what they’ve been doing all along. They figure if Romney/Ryan tell them what they are going to do then they can implement it before the election and maybe in the last weeks have some decent numbers. Oddly enough, Obama did his “me too, I like that, I’d do that too” meme with McCain so much that eventually they looked like the same guy only one was older and white and the other was younger and black.

Anyways I’ve been thinking about this and I’ve come to the conclusion that Obama has a shoe problem. A person with a shoe problem has a one room apartment, lined with IKEA storage everywhere and still has to pay for a storage room somewhere else for their shoes. Often they admit their problem but can’t stop. You go to the Lord and Taylor shoe sale with them. You find a nice pair of boots and a nice pain of work shoes. They find five shopping bags full of shoes. The whole time while you are trying shoes on you point out to them that you remember them buying a similar pair two years ago. They actually look you in the eye astonished and tell you that the pair two years ago had charms on it and this pair doesn’t. So you just keep quiet and watch your friend who has a uncatalogued her shoes in a recipe box with pictures and has invested in hundreds of dollars of clear shoe storage boxes has a huge problem and refuses to recognize it.

This is the same with Obama. He doesn’t know how to stay on a budget. (quite often people with shoe problems spend money they don’t really have and hope to worry about it later). He doesn’t know how to choose what is important and what isn’t. (people with shoe problems often skip meals to pay for their problem cause they spent the money for meals. He can’t justify how he’s spent our money he just spends it and doesn’t care what we think. (the person with a shoe problem spends their own money but occasionally they can hoodwink a bf into buying them shoes but, eventually they need to start working just to pay for the shoes, so another job) The president just keeps printing money to satisfy his shoe habit.

I think Obamuh could lose Illannoy based on what happened in the 2010 mid-terms. The same 99 of IL’s 102 counties voted red for Obamuh’s former US Senate seat and for governor. It was enough to elect Mark Kirk over Obamuh’s pal Giannoulias for the senate seat, but Quinn got enough votes in Crook County to take governor. Depends a lot on turnout, especially lower turnout in Chicago, but a lotta people in this state are fed up with the Dembeciles and the financial ruin they’ve wreaked on IL over the past 30 years. And don’t believe there’s any sentimentality over Obamuh in IL–most of us don’t really claim him as a native son, that’s all Chicago, and mostly the south side. It will be so sweet to see IL in the Romney/Ryan column when they take the presidency. BTW, I post at HotAir a lot and I’m always dissing the polls that Allahpundit frets over. I think polls are buncha baloney. The only polls that matter are the ones where we cast our vote and we need get out in droves on Nov 6, if not before.
