Don't cry for her, Hyannis Port. Princess Caroline's not getting what she wants.
In case you haven’t figured this out yet, Team Hillary has a list of who supported HRC during the primaries, and who didn’t. That list isn’t going anywhere.
Caroline and Ted Kennedy, Bill Richardson, Claire McCaskill, Kathleen Sebelius, John Kerry…all people on the wrong side of that list, and all people who will ultimately get theirs in the end.
But one thing Caroline won’t be getting is that Senate seat she wants. Not if Team Hillary has anything to say about it (and they do).
Governor Paterson is under increasing daily pressure, some of it quiet and behind the scenes, to tell Ted and Caroline Kennedy to take a much-deserved flying leap. With excellent Senate candidates like Carolyn Maloney and Andrew Cuomo to choose from, Princess Caroline’s sudden desire to hold court in a Senate office and waive to a less than adoring public seems more and more delusional every day.
The Rod Blagojevich business, of which Rahm Emanuel is VERY MUCH INVOLVED, sure doesn’t help Caroline’s chances.
Whomever fills ANY Senate vacancies, in any state, this year is going to be under intense scrutiny now. That appointment needs to be rooted in the best and most rock solid interests of the people of that state, be it Illinois or New York. People like Jesse Jackson Jr., Caroline Kennedy, and Valerie Jarrett are just not going to cut it.
But, don’t cry for Caroline. She’s still “American Royalty”, has a Neil Diamond song inspired by her, and even had her own pony once (every little girl’s dream, before growing up and wanting to play Senator instead of dress-up).
Sorry. The same people who spent so much time attacking Sarah Palin as unqualified (despite winning two mayoral elections and one statewide election to governor in her own right) don’t have a leg to stand on pushing Princess Caroline for a Senate appointment…not when so many non-royal, hardworking, capable people are out there to take over for Hillary Clinton.
And from the looks of things, Team Hillary’s on top of making sure “American royalty” doesn’t win the day on this one.

At the Nation Institute annual gala at Metropolitan Pavilion the other night, Gov Paterson, after being introduced by Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, complained about all the supplicants who are trying to sway his choice. “The way Cecile Richards rushed up to me before, for a moment I thought she was Caroline Kennedy,” Paterson joked.
“That list isn’t going anywhere.Caroline and Ted Kennedy, Bill Richardson, Claire McCaskill, Kathleen Sebelius, John Kerry…all people on the wrong side of that list, and all people who will ultimately get theirs in the end”……………and don’t forget, JJJ is on that list, too. Speaking of lists, for those in the NYC area, tickets for Hillary and Bill’s Monday night fundraiser are going fast. Seems high end photo op tix already gone. Still availability on the entry $50 tix.
This will likely be the last chance to see Hillary in person for a good while. She has always been a larger presence in person than on TV, and her spontaneity and genuine brillance when she speaks live is truly a special experience.

Let her do charity work somewhere..we don’t need someone like Caroline added to our do nothing people in Washington.
I thought I had read somewhere (or maybe heard) that Bill might run for that seat when it is up. Has anyone else heard about that?

Thank you for this excellent news. I was so worried that Princess Caroline was actually going to get the NY Senate seat, and it was really bumming me out. How dare she? This woman is a nothing, whom nobody knows anything about. And that dopey speech she gave endorsing Obama. God it was so amateurish. Whenever people talk about how Obama inspires their kids, run the other way. As if we want their kids influencing anything as important as politics. Apparently because her kids really liked him, she did too! Oh God. Well, I’m glad it looks like it’s not gonna happen. Thanks for the reporting, since the NYTimes no longer does any. I have to go to you guys.
Thank you. It is assinine to give that seat to her only becuase of her last name and becuase her uncle has one too. Experience, but wait she is a Dem and a Kennedy so that is ok.

She has been an activist, progressive Senator for the residents of New York State, and for all the people of the United States as was reflected in the 18 million+ votes she received during the Democratic presidential selection process.
In choosing her successor, we urge you to make the choice on the merits – who would best continue the record of demonstrated excellence of those who have held that seat: Robert Kennedy, Patrick Moynihan and Hillary Clinton. Examples of quality nominees include, in alphabetical order, Leecia Eve, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Jerrold Nadler.
Please note that we specifically exclude Caroline Kennedy. While we applaud her public service, and that of her family, it is not a qualification to be senator from New York. In this spirit, we encourage the Obama Administration to find an appropriate role for her and to do so quickly so she can gracefully remove herself from consideration.

In a Drudge report today, Caroline Kennedy says she is actively seeking Hillary’s seat. She says that among others, Robert Kennedy Jr is urging her to go for it. Robert Kennedy Jr. is on record for saying that if offered a seat on the Obama Team, he will accept. Is the criteria for being on Obamas team Drug arrest? According to Wikepedia, in 1983 , he was arrested in a Rapid City South Dakota Airport for heroin possession. A search of his carry-on bag uncovered 183 milligrams of the drug.[3] Upon entering a plea of guilty, Kennedy, then 30 years old, was sentenced to two years probation, periodic tests for drug use, treatment by joining Narcotics Anonymous, and 1,500 hours of community service by Presiding Judge Marshall P. Young.[4]
[edit] I doubt that Caroline has any negative items such as that in her past, but she also doesn’t have any experience even remotely necessary for a Senatorial Seat. What is wrong with these people? And just for my own curiosity, isn’t she a Schlossberger anymore?
