Do You Believe That Mitt Romney Has the Guts to Elmonate Funding to PBS and NPR?

Posted on December 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // 2012 GOP Candidates, Mittens Romney

One of the main reasons I don’t support Willard “Mittens” Romneycare for the Republican presidential nomination is that I perceive him as a wimp who will say and do anything in front of an audience to get elected…but he lacks the courage and conviction to stand for, well, ANYTHING when push comes to shove and he’s threatened with negative media coverage for taking a necessary but unpopular stance.

Do you honestly believe that Willard will have the guts to eliminate the funding to PBS and NPR?

It needs to happen…especially in regards to NPR.  For decades now, taxpayers have been funding these media outlets that exist as Democrat propaganda machines.  It’s not appropriate for all taxpayers to pay for television and radio programs that promote the Left’s agenda…and it’s damn foolish for Republicans to allow this to keep happening.

I don’t trust Willard “Mittens” Romneycare to actually follow through on defunding PBS and NPR — both of which would survive and thrive without taxpayer money.

Sesame Street is a multi-billion dollar brand that could have its own channel if it wanted; the brand is so large, in fact, that it could survive on the air by merely paying for its OWN commercials for all of its toy products.  Sesame Street is never going to disappear.

Of course, that’s the threat the Left will make.  If a Republican president pushed the elimination of public taxpayer support for PBS and NPR, the agenda-driven media will slam him with images of children crying and Big Bird asking if he’ll be evicted.

Is Willard Mittens Romneycare tough enough to stand up to this and do what needs to be done?

I don’t think so, based on how he’s always conducted himself.

But, what do you think?

I just don't think this is fair. Look, I am NOT happy with any candidate overall, but I refuse to let Obama win this election by refusing to vote at all. Please understand what is at stake and let's hold Romney's feet to the fire, if he in fact is the candidate to run against and beat Obama.

And you base your comment on exactly what action in Romney's past?

You’re aware of the characters on Sesame Street, right?

      There’s a furry red Muppet that’s popular.

Mashup that puppet’s name with eliminate = elmonate.

Eliminating the funding to Sesame Street is elmonating it.

      It’s a portmanteau.

No way, but I'll vote for this sorry excuse if I have to . There's only one person on this planet(including Kim-Jong ul) that could make me stay home or vote for Barry. That would be the isolationist jew hater Ron Paul.

Seriously – where do you get that Ron Paul is a Jew hater? I've never heard him say anything that would intimate that. I'd love a source from you or Carmelo Junior, because if you can show me where he's a racist it will change my views on him.

I doubt it. He is a big government progressive.
As of right now, if he is the nominee, I'll stay home.

I think the question needs to be rephrased.

Will a Republican Congress cut funding?

The President may ask…but it's Congress that makes the final budget decisions. If they zero out funding, that's that.

I'm no Romney supporter, but I console myself with the fact that a Republican-controlled Congress holds the whip hand on domestic policy. The next President will have his hands full on the foreign policy front.

In response to promises broken over the past three years (by multiple politicians) I have read sooo many defenses that said basically "No one expected him/her to keep it; it was just a campaign promise."

Guess how much I believe Romney.

You are 1000% right Kevin. I do not believe Romney has any guts. He sways with the wind and this is an example of it. But, I have no choice but to support him if he is the nominee. My family and this country CANNOT afford to let obama win reelection. We are in so much trouble that no one can calculate. This is a personal issue for me.

If that pompous, stiff man of plastic wins (if he's the nominee I will vote for him because anyone – except Ron Paul – is better than Skippy), then we must hold his feet to the fire non-stop because like all politicians, he will forget his campaign promises the moment he takes the oath of office.

Personally, I'd like to vote NO for president this time around – assuming of course that the Duce even allows us to have an election in November 2012 or that he actually accepts the will of the electorate when he loses!

No. I held my nose and voted for mclame, because I liked Palin.
Now the RNC wants me to hold back the vomit and vote for romneycare?
And to top it off, if I refuse it's my fault if president downgrade gets another term?
I want off this merry-go-round circle jerk.

Romney won't even call Obama a socialist. No way would he eliminate funding for the leftist elite's favorite stations. It might be interesting to see how much of Mitt's own money has gone to PBS "fundraisers".

This was really important to hear about — so I appreciate it. But it doesn’t have anything to do with Mitt Romney and the PBS and NPR funding, so it did not belong in this thread. It should be in the daily Open Thread.

If you have to start something off with, “I don’t want to hijack this thread, but” or “This is on a tangent, but” then it belongs in the daily Open Thread.
