David "Popcorn" Kernell Trial Watch: Day Four

Posted on April 23, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

What’s the latest you are hearing about David “Popcorn” Kernell’s trial in Knoxville, Tennessee?

This is the Obama operative, and son of disgraced Tennessee Rep Mike “Terrible Father” Kernell, on trial for cyber crimes, identity theft, wire fraud, and hindering an FBI investigation in his attack on Governor Sarah Palin and her family in October of 2008.

He faces 50 years in prison, and we hope he gets every one of them.

What’s the update on the case today — any word on what will happen next week?

Well, Sarah testified today, according to C4P.

I do hope he gets all 50 years – let that be a lesson to any other punk who thinks he can get away with it – especially if he’s the offspring of a Donk pol.

Yes, Kernell is a jackass. And yes, he pulled a dumb stunt. But don’t you think a $20K fine and a couple thousand hours of community service would have severe enough complications on his pocketbook, social life and future? The punishment should fit the crime: Nobody was scarred for life, nobody was irreparably damaged, hundreds of people didn’t lose their life savings. For Pete’s sake, child molesters and some murderers only get five years, and you want this kid to serve 50? For being a snotnose Liberal punk? Man, if I ever run afoul of the law, I sure hope you aren’t on my jury.

          WRONG!
          People were irreparably harmed.
Palin’s character was questioned from the 1st days of the campaign and many people believed the lies This contributed to the negative opinion of her and consciously and unconsciously figured in to voting decisions.
When this smear is added to the rest of them, people tend to believe them.

From what I understand he faces a couple of charges related to obstructing the FBI and interfering with an investigation. Needless to say the Feds and the secret service don’t take kindly to having people do things like not answer questions quickly or attempt to erase computer files. Those two charges are going to be his biggest problem because they really throw the book at people who mess with the Feds, Martha Stewart for example.

Anyway, he deserves to be held accountable for his actions. Naturally people will blame Palin if he is, but from what little I can get from the news, it looks like his real problems will actually stem from stepping on Fed toes.

The consequences of what he did to Palin, to her kids, to the danger he put them in, all the way to possibly influencing an election, are pretty serious and he needs to pay for that. But legally speaking, it’s actually the inconvenience his little ‘prank’ caused the Feds that will cook his goose.

Remember that when people try to blame Palin for the consequences he will face.

Not just the Palins, ~although that’s enough~ but also their friends. There has been testimony by some of Sarah’s contacts/friends that they received horrible/harassing emails due to the hacking. I’ve had my email hacked. I ended up having to close it down. It was not fun. I lost clients over it. Imagine being one of Sarah’s friends and receiving threatening/hateful emails because of it.

Since it is a federal case, if found guilty and given jail time, he will probably end up in a Federal Prison so it will not be so bad for him.

Regardless, I do believe that 50 years is too much but he should get some time. It might help him reflect on what he has done and make him a better person.

I saw part of an interview with Sarah on Fox New after ( I think) she testified. She spoke honestly and emotionally about the experience. Apparently part of what was stolen from her email were pictures of Trig, which then got passed around and photoshopped into awful images of that sweet baby boy and then passed around on the internet even more. She sounded a bit shaky when speaking about that. You could tell she really was upset by that in particular.

I don’t think the LSM has made us all completely aware of what horrible things were done as a result of this amoral, heinous person.

I tried to find the video. I’ll keep looking.

O/T not about the trial, but something I’ve noticed this last week in reading the blogs I frequent…

There has been a shift from saying euphemisms about the President such as, “misdirection” or “mischaracterization of the facts” to outright saying, “He’s lying.” I’ve seen at least three blogs that have NEVER gone that far post either the word Lying or Liar on SEVERAL posts.

We’ve all known he lies through his teeth about anything and everything, and I think others know/think that as well, but until now, they’ve tried to be very politically correct in how they phrase it. That seems to be changing.

    Has anyone else noticed that?

C4P has reports and vid, including a 5-minute street interview with Sarah just after she came out of the courthouse after giving testimony.

Compare the ABC video in the post to the raw footage of Sarah talking to the interview to see the BLATANT bias of the media.

Sample: the ABC reporter thinks the lede needs to be to inform his viewers that this is Palin country, implying that any verdict of guilty is not because popcorn is, in fact, guilty.

    But because it’s Palin country.

    Liberal victimhood is legion.

I thought she rocked it: Palin was composed as she underwent cross-examination by defense attorney Wade Davies. Davies, in turn, was not overly aggressive, although he quarreled a bit with the former governor when he said the answer to her Yahoo! security question – Where she met her husband – was no great secret.

“It wasn’t a secret to me,” Palin said. “I don’t know if the rest of the world knew.”

Davies responded, “It was common knowledge.”

“Maybe it is now,” Palin replied.

She testified about 30 to 35 minutes before leaving the witness stand.

Asked outside court if she thought the charges against Kernell were excessive, Palin, accompanied by her husband Todd, told The Associated Press, “I don’t know, but I do think there should be consequences for bad behavior.”

Asked whether she thought community service was punishment enough rather than prison, she said, “That’s up to the judge.”

I think mandatory manual labor for the next several years might be good for this arrogant sociopath.

I also heard Sarah Palin tell Greta tonight that she first learned about what had happened on television. Apparently some news outlet had released info. that this kid had stolen from her e-mail account. They didn’t name the news outlet but I think they should be held accountable too. What can I say? I guess we all have our dreams and fantasies.

        *shakes head*

Ladies, you talk of leniency for him because he’s white, affluent, and has political connections.

        Bad idea all around.

He’s an adult and if he is found guilty, he goes to prison. No ifs, ands or buts.

This punk has no remorse. And you want to show him mercy? He spits on us and on what we stand for. He has nothing but contempt for the rule of law, as his actions and subsequent statements have indicated. He deserves no special consideration!

And for the cherry on top, I would forbid him to own or have access to a computer.

    OT…

Patriots, you HAVE TO SEE THIS VIDEO!!!

    http://remembernovember.com/

Share it with your friends and neighbors. Pass it on. Let everyone see it and KNOW this is our moment. If we do not stand up now, we will lose the greatest country ever known to a bunch of thug socialistic marxist communist wanna-bes who sold half of the nation a bill of goods that they lied about to get elected.

    Pass it on!

It was a stupid prank that went awry… why spend 50K a year to house this kid in prison, when he’s a first time offender who’s already learned a valuable lesson… 30 days and probation and you’ll end up with a productive citizen that doesn’t need to be supported by taxpayers… 50 years is the same as a death sentence
