David Letterman Protest Rally — 430pm 6/16/09 Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway in NYC
Consider this an open thread for the David Letterman Protest Rally taking place today from 430-630pm outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway in New York.
If you are going, bring your cameras and take as many pics as your camera can hold, including video of the protest. IMMEDIATELY get to a computer as fast as you can and load the video up to YouTube and the pics up to Flickr or Facebook. The MSM won’t cover this protest, so it’s up to you to do the job journalists stopped doing when the MSM became Dr. Utopia’s State TV and Ministry of Propaganda.
We have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen at the Protest Rally today.
There could be hundreds of people, or there could be thousands, or just dozens. We have no idea how many will show up. There was not a lot of time to organize this, so we’ll see if the Tea Party spirit prompts people to turn out and make their voices heard in large numbers today.
Right now, we’re thinking about the ramifications of a lot of things, including:
(1) Will Republicans follow through on this, or will they fall into old habits, get distracted, and move onto other things before Letterman is really raked over the coals, Imus-style? Concern trolls have been everywhere the last day or so, insisting “I agree Letterman is disgusting and was wrong, but I think it is time to move on as we really need to talk about healthcare now”. That’s what a concern troll does: it’s a person working from a script with an agenda to de-motivate you on the Internets (that series of pipes and tubes, of which you are viewing now).
Concern trolls are expertly deployed by the Left to dampen Republican (and moderate Dem, as the case may be) spirit. Concern trolls breed Eeyores, those people who say things like “It’s hopeless! We might as well stop because they are never going to fire Letterman! We are wasting our time and it is better to just do nothing and complain about things quietly to myself!”
One of the most glaring instances of the difference between Republicans and Democrats happened back in August of last year on the first pub crawl Democrats for McCain did with the Chicago Young Republicans here. We actually did this in Boystown, the way we always did pub crawls to recruit volunteers for Team Hillary efforts, and we were so surprised we got about 25 CYRs (all straight) to come out to Boystown with us and join forces to recruit volunteers for McCain (netting about 50 solid volunteers, in the most unlikely of places according to the MSM). Well, the bars were packed that night and at almost every one of them the CYRs would take a look at the line and say, “Oh, that’s too long. I can’t wait in that line. Let’s do something else.” And we would remind them, “The line moves fast. This bar is the biggest in town, with a lot of people in the 30-50 age group we want, who would be most likely to give McCain a shot if we talk about tax issues, spending, and McCain’s stance about earmarks”. But, the CYRs never wanted to wait for anything, and would instead want to go to a small bar down a sidestreet that was empty (which equals lowered potential for recruits) than wait in a 10 minute line to get into a bar where we had the potential to talk to over 1,000 people all in one place.
Consistently, this is something we, as moderate Dems, notice Repubicans do. As a group, they don’t understand the value of patience or persistence. They give up if there is a long line, or get distracted down a side street instead of focusing on the main event. Will that happen today, where people start listening to the MSM “to just stay home, this is over, he said he was sorry, move on” or will they stand their ground and turn out to decry sexism and misogyny and stand up for Palin? We’ll see at 430pm EST.
(2) If the numbers are large, in New York City, of all places, Republicans need to realize just how special Sarah Palin is. There is no other Republican who can motivate people to fight like she can. Could you imagine people organizing a boycott and protest in response to an attack on Bobby Jindal, Charlie Crist, John Huntsman, or Mitt Romney? That’s not going to happen. Ever. There are a lot of Republicans we know here in Chicago who say things like, “Palin will get attacked. Tina Fey will come out of retirement and end her campaign. Palin will become a joke.” We remind them of what the Left did to Ronald Reagan prior to the 1980 campaign. They called him stupid. They made jokes about him and the monkey he co-starred with in that Bonzo movie. They said he was just a lightweight, not very good actor. And now he’s a Republican icon.
Well, we believe you’ve got a new icon in Palin, but most Republicans don’t realize it yet. Not only does she have charisma and appeal to regular Americans, but she motivates people like us, moderate Democrats, to stand up on her behalf (something she does much, much better than Reagan ever did). She also comes packaged with WONDERFUL natural marketing potential as a candidate: a red/white/blue moose decal everywhere and other Alaskan-themed images, at once reminiscent of Teddy Roosevelt and also the American pioneer spirit…but also the kind of personality and vitality that would allow her to use a rockin’ song like “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as her campaign theme…because after 4 years of socialism, that is exactly what Americans are going to want to hear, and Palin’s exactly who more than half of them are going to want to hear it from.
A big showing for Palin today would be a surprise for many people…and could, four years from now, be seen as the germination of her presidential bid…in the same way that the MSM likes to use Dr. Utopia’s address to the DNC in 2004 as the launch of his own campaign so far in advance.
There is something truly special about Sarah Palin the MSM and Left does not understand. We don’t claim to understand all of it either. We have no idea what’s going to happen today, but know Letterman and his ilk on the Left are already galvanizing Sarah Palin into an icon she would never have become without their constant barrage of attacks.
We hope enough people turn out today to rattle CBS, David Letterman, the DNC, the Liberal Left, The Olive Garden, Mars Candy, Kelloggs, Johnson + Johnson, and the rest of Leterman’s sponsors so that they not only think twice about attacking the Palins in such ugly terms again, but also hesitate to attack women in general in these vulgar, sexist, and misogynistic terms anymore.
In a few hours, we’ll know what sort of turnout there is, and can then begin to piece together what it all means, but there certainly is a lot to think about…and a ready-made theme song to set it all to:

I am really getting sick and tired to no end… of grown men ganging up on young women in the name of comedy and ratings.
Real Time, Real Man: Maher Takes His Shot at Palin
Time for action. Saturday, my wife and I canceled our HBO service. A big thank you to Bill Maher. If there are others out there who have had enough of his brand of comedy, I suggest you take some action.
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/jarone/2009/06/15/bill-maher-real-time-real-man/
You know, I was going to ask here what people thought our response should be given Gov. Palin had accepted Letterman’s apology: Should we continue on or should we let it drop?
But now I see that we should absolutely keep going because, if we let this go, slugs like Maher will think they can make detestable statements, utter weak apologies…and walk away fairly unscathed.
What a pathetic excuse for a person.
I do not watch Letterman anymore. I stopped over a year ago. I had to rely on news reports as to what he actually said in his apology.
According to the Daily News, (link on Drudge Report: Letterman apologized on Thursday night’s show, saying about the jokes, “Do I regret telling them? I think probably I do.
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2009/06/15/2009-06-15_fire_david_letterman_campaign_takes_root_protest_planned_over_comment_on_sarah_p.html#ixzz0IczkD8PD&D
He THINKS he PROBABLY does regret the jokes?
We need to keep the pressure up until he DOES regret the jokes — actually, until he is SORRY that he told the jokes.
I was taught in Business school to say “I regret” when I was in a situation that I regretted but was not sorry about the actions that got me in the predicament.
So an “I-THINK-I-PROBABLY-REGRET” statement is an empty apology.
He is only sorry that there are protests and that his sponsors are upset.
Keep up the pressure until he is sorry about his actions!
I understand that Embassy Suites pulled their advertising from CBS.
Most excellent.
I also love the fact that it took a week & the exlanation of a man, Mark Shields, to explain to Dave that advocating statutory rape is unacceptable. So Dave can ignore Gov Palin, herself. Dave can ignore N.O.W. but when a person with a Y chromosome tells Dave something is wrong, then Dave will listen to him.
For me the use of the words perceive and misunderstood reminded me of the definition of sexual harassment. If a victim perceives the environment to be one of sexual harassment then it is considered to be sexual harassment. Also, the excuse usually given is that the victim misunderstood what what the person was saying as justification it was not sexual harassment. I think the so called apology was just a cya for CBS in the big picture of sexual harassment.
If you knock someone down, and have your foot on their throat, you do not let up until you have what you want.
Metaphorically speaking, of course. We need to make them feel pain, we need to make them feel fear. Such that they’ll know how to behave in the future.
We cannot let up, and just remember boycotts can sometimes take a little time… get the store brand stuff for now, and keep the letters going..
I would like to apologize in advance for not attending. No car, no money for taxi fare and a cranky 18 month old. If it only were tomorrow, that would change things since my mother in law watches her on Wednesdays. (The only reason I attended the Tea Party was because it fell on a Wednesday). I’m very sorry and feel terribly guilty about not being there. If there are any events scheduled for tomorrow, you can count me in.
I’ll be there, and here’s also a reply I received from Hellman’s/Unilever. I eat Hellman’s in an ungodly (and probably unwise) amount, but I outlined for them in my letter just how much in Costco-size bottles I buy and that I will not buy again until they pulled their ads. And, would urge family and friends to do the same.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us regarding your disappointment with the program content which contained a commercial for a Unilever product. We never wish to offend anyone and your opinions are appreciated regarding this subject matter. Advertising for Hellmann’s or media buys are done months in advance and unfortunately we can’t foresee issues in the media before they come up. We appreciate the feedback from our consumers and we’ve decided to pull our online ads from the Letterman show from our advertising schedule moving forward.
We hope that this information has given you a better understanding of our advertising practices. Thank you again for taking the time to share your views with us. You can be assured that your comments will be considered as we continue to challenge our perceptions about what is appropriate for us in today’s environment.
Kind regards,
Your friends at Hellmann’s/Best Foods
I got the same thing.
I’ll be there and FYI – here’s the reply I received from Hellman’s/Unilever. (I eat Hellman’s mayonnaise in an ungodly amount – and outlined just how much I buy in Costco-size containers, but would not again until they pulled their ads. And would urge family and friends to do same).

Listening to Hannity.
He said that FOX will be covering the rally today.
If you can make it, please attend.
We need more than the estimated 200 people to make an impression.
If anyone gets any tweets from the rally, be sure to let us know. I’m here in MN, but there in spirit.
I think we should continue the fight! We should fight on behalf of Sarah and women alike. Sarah is truly gracious and classy to accept Letterman’s second non-apology. I love how she also redirects the conversation away from herself and toward all women and freedom of speech we all appreciate. She is a class act!
I say we keep up the pressure to send a message that a non-apology isn’t enough. It should not have happened in the first place. I want the media and entertainment to tremble when they think of their next Palin attack!
this IS more than Sarah. Letterman insulted and degraded every female. Not just female politicians, not just mothers.
Damn straightabout keeping up the pressure. The reporter on Cavuto hinted that the economic implications for Letterman and CBS with the boycott are not good. Who can afford to lose money in this economy. So we are in good shape to deliver both a BIG hit.
Keep it up!
AGREED! KEEP UP THE PRESSURE, EVERYONE! The damage to Letterman and CBS ad revenue is not nearly enough compared to this slimeball’s actions against the Palin family.
WE WANT A LARGER EFFECT OF GETTING MORE AND MORE ADVERTISERS TO REMOVE THEIR SPONSORSHIP!
GAME ON.
It seems to me that the commentary tonite is “Letterman apologized, Govenor Palin accepted his apology, so we should all move on”. No we should not move on! I agree we have to keep up the pressure to prevent misogynistic rhetoric from occuring in the first place.
I know that this is neither the issue at hand or even the station at hand, but this is a huge concern and we should address it en masse.
ABC will run a townhall out of the WH in support for nationalized healthcare with no opposing viewpoints presented. ABC is now the official whore of this administration.
http://www.drudgereport.com/flashaot.htm
That’s not a townhall…that’s an infomercial.
The only thing they need now is Billy Mays to make the package complete…well except Billy Mays is pitching for affordable private health insurance so he might not be interested.
Hey I know! They could use the ShamWow guy instead!
You’re absolutely right and as ABC has access to public airwaves, they have an obligation to be objective. I know, I know, I’m a dreamer, but when they push like this, I believe we need to push back…… and hard.
http://rashmanly.wordpress.com/2008/10/31/the-madly-funny-barack-obama-sham-wow-poster-i-found-on-newsbusters/
“Many Rash” grew up 3 doors down from me in NJ! LOL! He’s several years younger than I am.
Since January, Rahm (at the WH) has been on the phone to Stephanopoulos (ABC), Carvel and Begala each morning giving them their talking points for the day. No surprise here.
Isn’t that in violation of the FCC rules? I would call this a biased braodcasting…
Hmmm, kind of ironic… I would never have known that I can report biasness to the FCC if it hadn’t been for DL’s nasty comments that prompted me to file a FCC complaint.
Let’s all file a FCC compliant
There is only one reason for this “apology.” Three sponsors, reportedly, have now pulled out. Embassy Suites, Hellmanns and Olive Garden.
All I can say is… THANK YOU HILLBUZZ. And thanks to all of the PUMA bloggers that are holding CBS’s feet tot he fire.
Sarah did the right thing by apologizing. She is now out of it… and we can continue with the pressure.
DON”T BACK DOWN!
SYD,
Where did you see Olive Garden backed out?
We have been waiting for that one — that’s a big victory if true.
http://www.hillarysvillage.net/grand-central/17429-2-lettermans-sponsors-pullout-response-email-protest.html
I read it at the link above after googling it.
That’s the response that Olive Garden gave last week – I read that as they’re reviewing their advertising policy, but that have not made the decision to pull. Given their responsiveness, I think they’d be very absolute about it.
I got a very positive reply form Olive Garden.
Today, June 18th, they announced they are pulling all of their ads from the show…

Folks,
The “tolerant” hordes had descended upon the firedavidletterman event’s Facebook page, in their own little Krystallnacht. I don’t recommend reading the comments they are leaving, but here’s the link.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=110587311092&ref=mf
Unlike those who are saying that Letterpig’s statement last night was a non-apology, I saw it as an apology, and a seemingly genuine one.
Now, whether this is because he had a genuine change of heart, or because he’s feeling corporate and/or financial heat, I cannot say. No clue, no evidence either way.
The test will come in the days, the weeks, the months to come. If he continues to rag on Our Sarah, it will prove that he has not learned his lesson. And make no mistake, he has ragged on her every single day since last August. It’s the very reason I quit watching him some months ago.
I really WANT Dave to be over his Palinphobia. I WANT him to be funny again. I WANT to be able to enjoy him again. But he’s reached the end of his slack with me, even with the apology, and he’s on Double-Secret Probation (to quote Dean Wormer) from this day forth. One more Sarah Palin joke of any kind, though, and Game On, and Unleash Hell!
The doctor on Cavuto is dissecting his apology…and by dissecting I mean ripping it to shreds.
I’ve been listening to people “dissecting” it all day. Unlike last week’s non-apology, dissecting this one makes the dissector look mean, petty, and vindictive. We walk a fine line here, folks. The Ministry of Propaganda simply cannot WAIT to portray Letterpig as the “victim.”
All I had to see was the look on his face. THIS was an apology. The Palins accepted it as such, I will do the same.
He lost me long ago as a viewer.
Please lets start focusing on HBO. Put up the following link so people can comment directly to HBO and then Switch to starz or fox movies.

Cavuto is about to show the protest right now of FOX.
Its on Cavuto now;can’t tell how many people are there.
they don’t mention how many on Cavuto
Did Sarah know about this protest?? Her apology acceptance might reduce the amount of people fired up to go there.
I doubt her apoligy would change anyone’s mind. She was not the only one insulted and degraded. The entire female gender was. Not to mention the millions and millions of fathers of young girls that want to hunt him him down and “teach him some manners and respect”
Of course the trolls and media are trying to convince the protesters and boycotters that she apoligized and to “move on” because they know how damaging it is for them, CBS and letterman. They want the heat off and will say anything to make that happen. That dog won’t hunt, you can bet your aunt suzie’s ashcan on that
In the Cavuto report, interesnting that most people I saw protesting were MALES.
Could you tell how many were there? Did the crowd look large?
A couple of hundreds for what I saw, mostly young males in executive suits.
Sharpton Defends Letterman:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,526661,00.html
un-friggin-believable!!
Greta had some lengthy coverage. Hard to tell how many people were there, but they were vocal. One woman directed her comments to Sharpton, saying (I’m paraphrasing) that he’ll defend a black woman but not a white one.
I’m glad Greta let the people speak, without interruption. Boy, they were direct and RIGHT ON!
I feel a third, viable political party coming on. We need to leave the Repubs and Dems in droves. Now, even Senator Ensign (R-NV) has wrecked his chances at higher office because of infidelity. This is why Repubs are seen as hypocrites. Of course, we know the Dems are hypocrites, too.
But I digress. Been too busy to post, but in between chores, I’m making calls and writing letters.
NEVER SURRENDER!
Sharpton is a stupid black racist man just like that muslim Obama.
Does anyone else smell irony here?

We cannot let up, and Neil Cavuto covered it today on FOX.. I am sorry gang, but this thing is big, we cannot let up. Did you know that Obama went on all kinds of networks today except for FOX News? He would not even go on the business network. There is so much going on right now in the country it is disturbing. You can call me crazy, but I truly believe they have made Sarah the target..All of them…. pulling a Salinsky
I meant “Alinsky” LOL
What’s good for the goose, is good for the gander. However, we don’t have to resort to the fake tactics of the left-we have legitamitacy of issue on our side
Ditto. I agree. Crazy shet going on and so much to keep up with.
Rub this the Obama supporter LGBT community’s face too:

We could have had Hillary.
He is such a fucking insecure, tantrum-throwing, emotionally stunted man-child.
Dear 52,
Congratulations. You elected this pre-schooler to the highest office in the world. You dunces.
And yes, we are going to do our best to swoop in in 2012, and clean up the mess this thumbsucking socialist made.
Grow a pair; ALL OF YOU.
Sincerely,
48.
re: this, btw.
“Did you know that Obama went on all kinds of networks today except for FOX News? He would not even go on the business network.”
I’m a West Coaster So’ i haven’t seen any thing on the protest yet– but’ yeah’ you can bet that the call is out for Sarah….” This damn POTUS and his com padres, they all need to go” We have a very hard road ahead, and you can bet it’s a “Alinsky” rule’s for radicals movement NO doubt”"”! evil crap!!!
Hillbuzz partner in this, Cynthia Yockey got a letter from ebay-before she even had a chance to send them anything yet. Seems word is getting out and making an impact well in advance-whether they are sponsors or not. Very encouraging. The heat and the hit to the walletis making an impact. Keep it up!

Oh how I wish I was there.
At the rally, I mean.
I do hope that all those who attended the rally will tell us about it in tomorrow’s post.
I just saw where they estimated the crowd at about 50.
It’s still early, though. Perhaps more will show up within the next few hours.
Just remember that the news always reported 50 at the tea parties and we all know in some cases there were thousands.
The MSM also always downplayed Palins crowds during the election. I never heard any media but Fox report her most recent trip to NY with a crowd of 20,000.
I am hoping there is at least a few hundred.
The N.Y. Daily News is covering this event:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2009/06/16/2009-06-16_fire_dave_crowd_lines_up_to_protest_lettermans_palin_joke.html
Ohhhhhhhh. Betty Jean’s pic is there too.
BettyJean Kling, accused Letterman of using the Alaska governor’s family to boost his ratings. She stood by a large plywood sign with the words “Fire the pervert” spray-painted across the front.
GO BETTY JEAN!
yeah, I saw that!! Says about 50 people. Hey, considering the short time frame for organizing this, that is not bad. It takes weeks/months to get the word our for really big stuff, like the teaparties. Just good that there were some loud people with signs.
I love BJ! After all she’s been through, losing her daughter Denise to cancer recently and her daughter being shot in the face by Denise’s crazy wife-beating ex-husband, and yet she carries on like the trooper that she is.
What a special human being. God bless BJ Kling!!!!!!!!!!!!
*daughter Louisa was shot and lies in a vegetative state*
PRINCIPAL BEFORE PARTY! GO TEA BAGGERS.
your mistaken, for “tea baggers” you want to go to the CNN and MSN websites. That is solely their perverted practice and language.
wrong term?
What about Tea Party goers?
They are called “tea party protesters”. Tea baggers is the perverted name MSNand CNN assigned it-them being sexual deviants. Cooper Anderson got his rocks off making the disgusting reference. The only places that use that terms is the perverts at CNN,MSN and the nutjobs at Daily Kos and huffington post. Oh, plus deviants and degenerates everywhere.
So you should rethink using it unless you want people to think your a lefty nutjob or sexual deviant otherwise
7 things? I can think of about 70 more to add to this list, with little time to waste, seeing as O has been campaigning for ’12 since Nov.5th
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/23770.html
I was just at the protest at the Ed Sullivan theatre. We had a good group – we remained in the designated area – had some good signs and remained above the fray. I was shocked at some of the horrendous things passersby were saying. Some old man in awful white pants told me to, “lighten up.”. It was just unbelievable how ignorant these people were. My message to everyone is “Please don’t stop calling, emailing, etc.”. These jerks just don’t get it.
So, how many people were there? Don’t worry,we will not be stopped.
Hey, Liz, thanks for taking the time to attend. Small crowd or big crowd, at least you’re effecting change.
It is disheartening to hear people who call themselves conservatives give up because of an apology.
My goal was never an apology; it was to hold the media accountable for the way the double standard coverage of conservatives AND the degradation of women as the butt of all of their jokes.
So many posters on other sites are afraid this will backfire and will ruin Sarah’s chances, but for me, it’s not about 1 person. It’s about all of us, especially women and young girls.
It’s dawned on me that there are a lot of posters who truly are conservative, but prefer to talk about it rather than act upon it. I understand action is “scary”, for the consequences may forever change the status quo, but the action, in this instance, is worth taking.
I agree this is about all women not just Palin. Conservatives appear to be afraid of authority, unlike us old-time 60′s protesters who have no fears cause we’ve been through it all. They don’t understand that not pursuing it is what will hurt Palin because it will just keep happening. And ignoring it and taking the high road does not work; people watch tv and whatever they watch eventually has an effect.
This may have been initiated by a slam at Palin, but it has escalated beyond that as it should. Palin has her own reasons for apologizing; so be it, it’s her perogative, but just as Hillary asked us to support Obama and many said no way, so I say no way to an apology; he must be fired, CBS must censor him and apologize, and all of this sexist crap must stop or we will never see a female president in this country.
PUMA for Life,
Absolutely! People believe what they see on teevee. We have to keep a presence there. For our sake, and for Sarahs!
I’m with you sister (or brother) PUMA! Not afraid of “authority” and this IS about respecting ALL women.
Letterman is a misogynist pig. He’s always been one, and now he’s an angry one, to boot! DON’T LET UP!
Someone on FreeRepublic posted a transcript of what Letterman said tonight..this you gotta see:

‘Nervous’ Letterman Brushes Off Protesters Late Show Host Jokes About Flap With Former VP Candidate Palin, Unveils “Top Ten Things Overheard At Fire Dave Rally” NEW YORK (CBS) ―
While angry protesters called for CBS to fire longtime Late Show host David Letterman after his flap with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the comic brushed off the hate with a slew of jokes and a Top Ten List aimed at those calling for his head.
In fact, the very first thing he said to his audience was a rib for those rallying:
“Now when I call your name, please come forward and pick up your apology. [Laughter, applause] I wanna get through this as quickly as possibly so you folks can get to the ‘Fire Dave Rally.’ [Cheering] It’s nice that people hate me who are no longer just part of my immediate family. My son, he’s telling everybody at school that his father is Conan!”
He later touched on his apology to Palin for making a distasteful joke about her daughter Bristol having sex with Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. Many believed the joke was actually aimed at her 14-year-old daughter Willow and were appalled. Palin eventually accepted an apology from Letterman.
“The good news is Sarah Palin has accepted my apology. She also accepted a $500 gift certificate from Lens Crafters. I thought that was a nice touch,” he said. “I tell you, I was quite nervous about this whole thing, and I was really nervous about an apology to Sarah Palin, so when I did get my confidence up and my nerves to settle down, I rehearsed by apologizing to Tina Fey. That helped. That was a big help. [Applause]”
Lameman’s joke aren’t very funny. I think people go to his show because it’s free, and they just want to be able to tell others later that they have been to his show.
I did at one time like Letterman a lot. He has changed so much he is not even funny anymore. I have not watched him for a long time now.
Stupid, stupid man.
Imus got fired for his comment.
Now it’s time for boring Dave the pervert to be fired. Then his fugly wife will have to put up with his fugliness all day long.
that’s a whole-lotta fugly goin’ on.
Lol!
See, you all have more talent for jokes than Lameman.
Here is a link to a YouTube of the rally today:

“The good news is Sarah Palin has accepted my apology. She also accepted a $500 gift certificate from Lens Crafters”
Those two sentences together sound like the same old attempt to discredit Gov Palin that the left has always thrown out. I don’t think any so called apology from Letterman is worth anything. I say thanks to all who have made efforts to point out that Letterman’s remarks are unacceptable. I intend to continue to contact sponsors and hope everyone else will.
Sarah is tooo way nice. I hope is just temporally. We love the Sarah strong willing to beat anyone. Remember weak McCain.
Sarah shouldn’t accept that apology.
Yeah but if she didn’t accept the apology then they would attack her on that…she did say though that just as Letterman could tell the jokes he chooses that she is glad people are also able to voice their dissent and unhappiness about his choices…probably her way of saying..I’m not going to stop “them” from taking care of you..
Wow. Just copied this from the NYDN site:

Thank you for voting.

No. It was a joke, and he did apologize. 35%
Yes. It was highly offensive.

Don’t forget to make a donation if you can ($5..$10…$25). Yesterday they raised almost 55,000.00 but they have 5 days left and are hoping to get to 500,000.00. So, cancel your subscription to HBO and donate it to the Gov.
I checked C4P this morning and the total is only 82,000,17% of what she needs. If she runs in 2012 she will need a lot of grassroots support.I guess some bloggers are all talk.
Yeah…I had hoped it would be higher…hope she gets the money from some place..I know she is a strong woman but holy cow a person can only stand so much garbage…now they are trying to report that she has been counseling Jon and Kate plus 8?? WTF people come on!!
Greta’s television coverage was very good. It was a long segment, letting the people speak out. A few of them called out the sponsors – Kellogg’s and Olive Garden, so let’s hope they start to waiver.
One lady called out Al Sharpton; she was furious with him and accused him of only helping black people.
Others called out NOW…
All in all, great coverage, Greta!
The older dark-haired woman is Betty Jean Kling, PUMA par excellence! She is a fighter for ALL women’s rights if I’ve ever seen one! She’s been through sheer hell in her personal life–lost two children and a third lies in a vegetative state, shot by her ex-brother-in-law (in my hometown–Lodi, NJ) who used to beat BJ’s daughter Denise, who recently died of cancer.
BJ does a show on BlogTalkRadio and has a blog http://www.free-us-now.com. The ‘Buzz Boyz know her.
Hey garlic,
I went to IC High, girl!
Immaculate Conception? Are you kidding? I graduated from LHS in 1973, so without telling me when you graduated, you can determine whether we might have crossed paths.
Did you grow up in Bergen County?
Garlic,
1973
No, I grew up in Bloomfield
Wow, that’s one long commute to school! I lived in Montclair from 1983 through 1989. Bella Napoli Restaurant (Bloomfield)–sure do miss it! And Nicolo’s Bakery in Glen Ridge. No good Italian food outside the Northeast.
Oh, well…
I didn’t know that – what a tragedy Betty Jean has gone through. And what a testament to her having such strong fortitude – she’s amazing and I’m humbled by her fighting spirit.
BJ’s son-in-law attacked Denise while she was sick from chemo in order to steal her pain meds. Hit her in the head with a hammer. And the judge–a FEMALE! Lois Lipton–only gave him 3 months!
He walked, only to abuse women again! He apologized to Louisa’s husband and son, said he meant to kill Betty Jean, not shoot Louisa.
Un-frigging-believable!
NEVER SURRENDER!
What do you think of O’Reilly? He said he hopes it’s over and he won’t touch the coverage of it…?? I don’t really like the guy..
I think we should’nt listen to him. Sarah can stand back and let us take it from here..
Fug him! Anyone hungry for a felafel?
O’Reilly also PROMISED to help publicise the Sarah legal defense fund and has not done so.
He’s just mad that she didn’t make time for him…he’s just another jerk..Claims he is “fair and balanced”…well O’Reilly you have to stand for something or you fall for anything..so they say.
And I think he wants it to drop so it doesn’t give anyone ideas about calling him a hypocrite over the felafel affair.

White House Health Reform Communications Director is Former ABC News Correspondent
A couple follow ups on ABC’s health care reform special at the White House next week.
• It turns out the Director of Communications for the White House Office of Health Reform, since last month, is former ABC News correspondent Linda Douglass, who left journalism last year to join the Obama campaign. This is leading some to wonder whether ABC News had the upper hand in landing the president for the primetime special as well as an interview on GMA and allowing two ABC News broadcasts to originate from the White House next week. An ABC News spokesperson, however, says there’s no connection between Douglass and ABC’s access. The network approached the administration days after the inauguration and pitched the idea of a White House town hall meeting, says the spokesperson.
Well then, no conflict of interest there.
Gosh golly, so happy to know the MSM is there to tell me what to think about stuff.
Last night on Red Eye, Greg Gutfield\’s sidekick Bill Schultz called us \”losers\” for protesting Letterman.
Typical talk for a Liberal, can dish it out (I\’m sure he supported Imus\’ firing) but can\’t take it.
Fox News had an organizer of the protest on this morning during the 6AM-7AM hour. She said there were about 200 people at the rally and that there would have been many more but some people thought it had been called off because of Sarah accepting Dave’s apology.
She was only on a few minutes (after they showed Dave’s Top 10 things heard at the Fire Dave Protest) ….but I was glad to see coverage of the event.
Thank goodness for Fox. I don’t know whether the MSM covered the event….but they are the same ones who followed Cindy Sheehan and the 3 protesters she attracted for months on end. I’m pretty sure 200 protesters in NYC wouldn’t be worth their time and attention.

last sentence in that article:
“The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. It Will Be Blogged and Twittered.”
Outstanding.
LOL! That was my favorite line!
They mentioned PUMA PAC in the American Thinker article
Isn`t that awesome!
YESSSSSSSSSSS!
I went to the rally yesterday in New York City and it was great! At it’s height I’d definitely agree there must have been about 200 people. I got there at about 4:20 PM and stayed till close to 7 PM. A very articulate, committed crowd showed up – of all ages, all genders, all races and all political persuasians. Everyone was cordial. Not too much infiltration by Alinkyites. There were a few there, but they didn’t get over. No one fell for their bait and we managed to shew them away quite easily. All in all, it was absolutely great! Thanks so much Hillbuzz for the great tips on how to handle ourselves there and for the forewarning about what the “other side” was going to say and do to try to disarm us and render us impotent. They tried it; it didn’t work. But your prediction was right on the mark. They did exactly as you predicted. I had quite a chat with an AP guy. I’ll write more about that later. Right now I am quite happy about how it went. So glad I went.
Hillbuzz, you guys are awesome! I love reading your essays and your insights are invaluable. Sebastian is a gifted writer. I love reading his posts. I’m learning a lot from you guys. I really appreciate your efforts. A big thank you to you all.
Unless I hear otherwise – no Kelloggs for a while! Letterman is now a monster and a permanent sex offender. Got the Scarlet O.
Glad to read of sponsors who have distanced themselves FAST!!!
I received this letter from Newt Gingrich today. In light of all that we are trying to accomplish, I thought his message was worth posting here. I know some of you think Republicans need more of a fighting spirit…and in some ways your perceptions are true. Anyways…enjoy!
‘Don’t Tell Me It Can’t Be Done’
by Newt Gingrich (more by this author)
Posted 06/17/2009 ET
Last week, I had the pleasure of addressing the Senate-House Annual Republican Dinner. The MC for the evening was actor Jon Voight. Before he spoke, a video tribute for Voight was shown, including clips of him playing Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a movie.
In one scene, Roosevelt is being told by his generals and advisors all the reasons why achieving victory in World War II was too hard.
In response, Voight — playing Roosevelt, who, remember, was confined to a wheelchair due to polio — dramatically lifts himself up using the table and stabilizes himself on his non-functioning legs. He then stares down every shocked person in the room and says:
“Don’t tell me it can’t be done.”
It occurred to me, sitting in the audience preparing to speak, that those seven words — “Don’t tell me it can’t be done” — should be the rallying cry for all Republicans (not to mention all Independents and Democrats who want a better future for America — more on this idea later).
I decided to make it the theme of my speech that night. Why? Because history shows us that it can be done.
America has been here before.
1964, 1977 and 1993 — in each of these years Republicans were gleefully pronounced dead by the news media. But in each case, they came back.
On Inauguration Day 1977, Carter’s Popularity Was Higher Than Obama’s
1964 was followed by 1965, in which Ronald Reagan was elected governor of California. Two years later we began a 40-year period in which no overt liberal won the presidency.
In 1977, Jimmy Carter’s popularity on inauguration day was higher than Barack Obama’s. But in 1980, Ronald Reagan won a decisive victory and changed the course of America.
In 1993, they said Bill Clinton was creating a new, stronger Democratic Party.
In 1994, the Democratic Party suffered its worst defeat in 40 years.
So don’t tell me it can’t be done.
“My Fellow Republicans… and Independents and Democrats Looking for a Better Future”
History also shows us this:
Ronald Reagan won the presidency in 1980 and 1984 by appealing, not just to Republicans, but to independents and unhappy Democrats as well. In fact, it’s hard to find a Reagan speech in which he doesn’t speak to “my fellow Republicans, and those independents and Democrats who are looking for a better future.”
Like Reagan, we have to be inclusive, not exclusive. I’m happy Dick Cheney is a Republican. And I’m happy Colin Powell is a Republican
But here’s the key: Being inclusive doesn’t mean going wobbly. It doesn’t mean abandoning our principles.
Key to Winning the Majority? Returning to First Principles
Reagan called them “first principles.” They are our bedrock beliefs. And in a center-right nation, they are the touchstones that will guide us back into the majority.
Today I’m going to discuss some of these first principles and how they should guide us in the years ahead.
We Must Strengthen Our Unique American Civilization
If you go to the National Archives, you will find the words that are fundamental to America written in the Declaration of Independence:
“We are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
These words make us unique. We are the only country in history that says, “your personal rights come from God directly to you, the individual, and you loan the government sovereignty.”
That means if we truly believe that each of us is endowed by our creator with rights, then we have a deep moral obligation to save the unborn. It also means we have a deep moral obligation to care for them after they have been born.
That means that when judges like Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor judge Americans by their ethnicity or their gender, it’s wrong.
It also means that rationing health care is wrong. No government bureaucrat has the right to take from you the rights that God gave you. Rationing health care is inevitably limiting your life at the whim of a bureaucrat and at the manipulation of a politician.
Individual Rights and Individual Responsibilities Are At the Heart of the American System
This commitment to the principle of the sovereignty of the individual can guide us in profound ways in the coming months and years.
It means that we must have judges who understand that an America that has driven God from the public square will no longer be the America that has extended freedom and prosperity for 400 years.
It means understanding that individual rights and responsibilities are at the heart of our system, that there are no quotas and no group identities in the American system.
And it means understanding that at Jamestown, our first permanent settlement, they established the principle “if you will not work you will not eat” — not for the poor but for the aristocrats who thought they could buy their way out of work. The work ethic was at the heart of our welfare reform in 1996. It is the most successful conservative reform in modern times.
We Must Defend America Against Our Enemies
More than any other of its responsibilities, government’s highest priority must be to defend America against those who would do us harm.
Tragically, under the Obama Administration, we have fallen back into the utopian fantasies and self deception of the 1977 Carter Administration and the 1993 Clinton Administration. Again and again the legalisms and self deceptions of treating enemies as criminals under these administrations led to more and more disastrous results.
Today, many of the same civil libertarians who believe terrorists deserve Miranda warnings and civilian trials are in the Obama Justice Department. It’s amazing how many of them come from law firms which were eagerly giving pro bono representation to alleged terrorists at Guantanamo Bay.
By 3-to-1, Americans Believe We Are Safer with Terrorists at Guantanamo Bay
But Americans know better than to accept utopianism and self-deception in our national security policy. Nowhere was this more clear than in the contrast between President Obama’s and former Vice President Cheney’s back-to-back speeches on Guantanamo Bay a few weeks ago.
Vice President Cheney had a fairly simple message: The reason we have Guantanamo Bay is that we have people there who want to kill us. They are called terrorists. It’s good not to have terrorists anywhere near us because it makes it harder for them to kill us.
President Obama, on the other hand, used his considerable oratorical gifts to hide from these fundamental facts. He spoke a lot of words that meant very little and managed to convey the impression that he didn’t understand the nature of the men being detained at Guantanamo.
The average American listened to Vice President Cheney and President Obama and understood that one speaker got it and the other one didn’t. By 3-to-1, the American people believe that we are safer with prisoners in Guantanamo Bay than in America.
Economic Freedom Leads to Jobs and Prosperity
Another first principle we must keep in mind while building a center-right majority is that economic freedom is necessary to building a productive America with the best jobs and greatest prosperity in the world.
Here our first principles are particularly clear about the disastrous path our country is on:
We will not have new jobs when bureaucrats micromanage companies.
We will not have prosperity when politicians dominate the economy.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are not substitutes for a sound market economy. And Tim Geithner and Larry Summers are not replacements for Warren Buffet and Bill Gates
We Will Not Have Prosperity When Politicians Dominate the Economy
So how do we get back to economic growth? Here, as well, our first principles lead the way:
High taxes kill jobs and growth. Low taxes encourage jobs and growth
Instead of spending $787 billion to reward Democratic interest groups, an effective economic stimulus would get the money to the people that work and the businesses that hire them in the form of lower taxes.
• If we had a two-year, 50% reduction in the Social Security and Medicare tax for both the employee and the employer, we would have an extraordinary explosion of small business.
• If we want to compete with China for jobs, we should match the Chinese on capital gains. Their rate is zero.
• If we want to compete for profitable businesses creating good jobs, we should adopt the Irish tax rate of 12.5 percent for corporations.
• If we want to build up capital for investments permanently, we should abolish the death tax.
For American Jobs and Prosperity We Need an American Energy Policy
Beyond tax policy, for American jobs and prosperity we need an American energy policy.
We need a policy that emphasizes the energy we have in America — from coal and natural gas to wind and solar — and recognizes that the problem isn’t a lack of resources or innovation. The problem is government.
America is the Saudi Arabia of coal and the global leader in technical and scientific innovation. But both these advantages are weakened by government policies that favor imports over American energy.
If We Are Endowed by Our Creator with Rights, Then Every Child Deserves to Learn
We also need to educate our children in order to have future jobs and prosperity.
Now is a time to be bold. If we truly believe that we are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, then every child deserves to learn.
We should take President Obama up on his commitment to unlimited charter schools. And we should go much further.
Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander supports giving low income kids the chance to go to a better school through a proposal called Pell Grants for Kids. We should welcome the debate about why Pell Grants are good for after 12, but not good for K-12.
“We Carry the Message They Are Waiting For”
At the 1976 Republican convention, having lost the nomination for president, Ronald Reagan was invited by President Ford to say a few words.
This is how he closed:
“Better than we have ever done before, we have got to quit talking to each other and about each other and go out and communicate to the world that we may be fewer in numbers than we have ever been, but we carry the message they are waiting for.”
Reagan’s advice is as good today as it was in 1976.
We believe in individual human freedom.
We believe in protecting American civilization.
We believe that the future of America is one of prosperity for our children and grandchildren.
Millions of Americans share these beliefs. They’re ready to hear our message.
Don’t tell me it can’t be done.
Your friend,
NEWT
I hope everybody is taking the time to read this article, lengthy though it may be. Thanks, Michelle!
Newt (like him or not) is brilliant. He has touched on every pertinent issue with which we can hand Benito a defeat.
Thank you, Michelle. AWESOME! We should send this out to everyone we know.

Debra Saunders of the SF Chron wants Sarah Palin to “go away.” She also lectures us that the protest hurts Palin’s chances of winning in 2012.
hillbuzz, you sly devils, this was all just a diversionary tactic, wasn’t it? (JUST KIDDING!!!)
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/06/16/ED10187F2P.DTL
I don’t believe the protest will hurt Sarah Palin at all. She wasn’t there…she accepted the apology. She has handled all of this class and a graciousness the left doesn’t even begin to understand.
Michelle
Michelle, no one thinks it will hurt sarah at all and it will not.
This is tactic #22 right out of the liberal left playbook. get them to stop by any means. The bullying isn’t working, niether is ridicule. This one you saw during the campaign. Nothing else is getting people to stop and they are terrified. It only makes Palin stronger and gains her more supporters.
Put it this , if the left thinks Palin is only hurting herself and losing support because people are boycotting and protesting, why would they tell people to stop? They hate her with a passion of the mentally imbalanced.
Just to clarify, I disagree also that it will hurt Sarah, just posted it for laughs.
I just made the mistake of wading into the PuffHo cesspool…my God! They are prattling on endlessly about the Sarah defense fund saying she asked for help. She did not ask for help, we offered it! Then they go on spouting long-discredited LIES about her as if they were solid fact. I need a hot shower to get the PuffHo offa me.
I wrote Debra Saunders a reply to her personal e-mail. This is the text of my letter.
Dear Ms. Saunders:
After reading your article of June 16th regarding Sarah Palin, this gay Democrat wishes that perhaps you should heed your own advice and give it a rest. Take a vacation. Or maybe just go meditate. There are really no self made martyrs. I refer you to a Catholic lexicon. It takes at least two to tango. You know very well that the press expressly and purposefully made her a martyr. For months that woman couldn’t make a phone call without having to ante up a stool sample.
I happen to watch David Letterman that night. A mistake I will never again make. When he mouthed that joke my first reaction was OMG, he didn’t just say that. A simple read of that day’s news would have turned up any number of articles about the Palin family attending the game with the Giuliani’s and that Willow was there with her mother. Now I am not sure that you are aware of the preparation that goes into a nightly show like that. Letterman’s jokes are scripted, reviewed, and approved. In other words, no mistake, just callous, vindictive, targeted venom. When Don Imus made his terrible remark, he was live and speaking off the cuff. In other words, limited forethought. He then went to great lengths to publicly apologize, visiting the team and making personal apologies, kneeling at the altar of Al Sharpton. Letterman knew full well what he was saying. Moreover he followed up his bile with a raspy tongue in cheek apology. Quite the contrary to your piece, you’ve made him the martyr. If anyone else had said similar remarks in any office setting, HR policy would dictate immediate disciniplary action.
At this point, I am so sick of a certain element in my own party reverting to the mudslinging, disdain, and hyperventlating that they accuse the right of having practiced for years, it is my inclination to hold up a mirror and say “see the monkey”. I would prefer that journalists begin acting like the true journalists of old and be more objective. I would like to see the media stop the fawning over the Obaza’s, Pelosi’s et al and report the truth, not languish over ‘fly-swatting’. Right now I am so angry at Obala for backtracking on DADT and DOMA that I cannot let situations like the Walpin dismissal go by without damning the press for serious neglect of their journalistic ethics. You want to critically focus on Sarah Palin’s public defense of her own daughter. I’d be aghast if she didn’t defend her. Rather I would like to see you castigate ABC for its unprecedented love fest in the oval office, or Pelosi’s unprecedented closure of amendments in the house, or Barack’s lies to the gay community, or maybe just the fact that we’re now broke. Talk about how low certain elements have fallen, yes indeed, but more and more the savvy are realizing that it is the press that has become papier-mache, milquetoast, ass kissers to the nth degree. Look in the mirror.
Rob
Rob, that was fantastic!

I posted a list of national advertisers for the June 16th show.
Most notable: This was the first night there was NO ad from Johnson & Johnson and the second night there was NO ad from either Lexus or Wyeth. (Lexus aired ads all last week – including 3 during the Friday show alone – and Wyeth aired ads all last week as well).
In regard to the post above about General Mills – I saw no national commercial from them during the show.
Sorry – I meant to say that I posted a list of national advertisers on the “List of Advertisers” thread.
Hey, watchful. We appreciate your diligence and hard work.
Below is the reply I receied from Lexus. I think it took them way too long to pull their ads from DL’s show.
To whom it may concern:
Thank you for expressing your concern about Lexus advertising on the CBS Network. Lexus is sensitive to the opinions of our customers and we respect your position.
To reach our broad range of demographics, like most advertisers, Lexus television spots air across a broad range of programming, including network and cable news, talk shows, sporting events, prime-time shows, late night television and morning shows, and the internet. While we go to great lengths to ensure our name is associated with the kinds of quality programming our Lexus customers enjoy, our ads should not be interpreted as endorsing the views of any show or the views espoused by the characters or actors, hosts, guests or callers on any show.
As an advertiser, Lexus does not control the content of scripts nor does it censor programming for networks.
We are proud of our track record in corporate and social responsibility and are committed to maximizing Lexus efforts in this area across all of the markets and communities in which we do business. It is not only the right thing to do – it is our responsibility. For more information please visit: http://www.lexus.com/about/corporate/philanthropy.html
We appreciate you taking the time to write and thank you for your interest in Lexus.
Best regards,
Stefanie Oda
Lexus Customer Satisfaction
What they aren’t saying is they won’t pull advertising. They seem to be saying “we can’t control what he says so don’t hold us accountable”. While it’s true they can’tcorntrol what he says, they CAN control whether they advertise on his show.
Not that I would buy a Lexxus but if I were ever so inclined, I sure wouldn’t now
Actually, it was sent to Toyota email addresses and I am in the market for a new car and told them so. I had planned on buying a Honda or Toyota as I’m NOT buying GM or Chrysler now. Guess I’m not the kind of customer they want.
OBAMA NINJA FLY-WARRIOR: Unbelievable media slurp fest as Benito kills fly
The common, everyday act of swatting a bug is something that happens countless times a day at picnics and ball games across the country, especially during the summer, but when Barack Obama was caught on tape by CNBC’s cameras doing it, the fawning liberal press couldn’t contain their excitement.
All three broadcast network morning shows, on Wednesday, praised the presidential kill as they were impressed by the “ninja” Obama’s “precision,” and “cat-like quickness.”[audio available here]
On NBC’s “Today” show substitute-host David Gregory opened the show declaring: “You just have to appreciate the, the concentration and the precision! Just a few things going on in the world but it’s as if everything was stopped and at a standstill for the President to lower the boom.” On CBS’ “The Early Show,” Chris Wragge marveled: “We’ve also just confirmed the President is a Ninja.” And on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” they even brought out the Telestrator to break down the video as Chris Cuomo offered play-by-play: “You see? He stares at the fly. How many times have each of us tried to do this? Look at the hand coming up. The poise. The cupping. And the quick slap…Just knocked it away, very rare.”
The following exchanges were aired on the June 17 editions of NBC’s “Today” show, ABC’s “Good Morning America” and CBS’s “The Early Show”:
DAVID GREGORY: You just have to appreciate the, the concentration and the precision! Just a few things going on in the world but it’s as if everything was stopped and at a standstill for the President to lower the boom.
MEREDITH VIEIRA: But see I thought he was the kind of guy who would never hurt a fly.
GREGORY: Yeah well apparently he-
VIEIRA: Apparently not.
GREGORY: -wanted to shore up his, his credentials of being a tough guy there.
VIEIRA: Exactly, exactly.
…
MEREDITH VIEIRA: Well some may question his policies but no one can question President Obama’s precision. Take a look at what happened when a pesky fly got on the President’s nerves last night during an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood.

Too bad he only killed one fly. If he had done more we could give him a banner, “Seven in one blow.” That will make those nations who loathe us think twice about messing with the Brave Little Imposter.
LOL!
I used to love that story when I was a kid!
The msm will use anything to divert the people’s attention from the real stories.
Those people make me gag. Never mind the corruption, our national defense, our economy, the assault of our Constitution. NO! Those things are nothing compared to Dear Leader himself. They are nothing but worshippers at the throne of absurdity. There. I said it.
Here’s what I think.
Most members of the media feel that the historic nature of Obama’s election gave THEM the once-n-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of history in the making. This is the highlight of their careers because it is about something new, something none of their predecessors covered.
Their gratitude is so great that it is akin to worship. They bow. They tingle. They gravel. They will do about anything to gain his notice.
The one thing the cannot do is become objective.
AMEN!
“Most members of the media feel that the historic nature of Obama’s election gave THEM the once-n-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of history in the making. This is the highlight of their careers”
superb observation
I have long suspected that most members of the media live in complete ignorance of the real world.
If they think swatting a fly is an Olympic feat my suspicion is correct.
Next, I fully expect a breathless report saying Obama eats soup with a spoon. Or maybe that he actually used a salad fork for salad.
But don’t look for the revelation that he puts on one shoe at a time.
Salad? That’d be “arugula” to you, and don’t forget it next time you’re shopping at Whole Foods!
Like my friend said, if swatting a fly is a major accomplishment for this guy, we don’t need him anywhere near our health care.
It’s official – the MSM has been taken over by a squadron of giggly, tiger beat reading teenaged girls.
You know, flies only land on garbage. Even a fly knows that Obama stinks!
Last year, a couple of people went to the Obama site and signed in just to keep up on the activities. They did not give money to the campaign.
Today they received the following letter asking them to donate money to the campaign for Obamacare. This is outrageous! A sitting president is asking all their poor drones to give whatever amount they can afford. I suppose we will be deluged with infomercials.
And, don’t forget the Organizing For America freaks hitting you up for signed pledges to his disastrous government-run health care. People, we have to fight action with action. Call and write to oppose this health care scam.
Our “Let Them Eat Cake” president sent the following love letter to supporters: I’m your ooey gooey hero and, BTW, give me your last nickel.
Last year, millions of Americans came together for a great purpose.
Folks like you assembled a grassroots movement that shocked the political establishment and changed the course of our nation. When Washington insiders counted us out, we put it all on the line and changed our democracy from the bottom up. But that’s not why we did it.
The pundits told us it was impossible — that the donations working people could afford and the hours volunteers could give would never loosen the vise grip of big money and powerful special interests. We proved them wrong. But as important as that was, that’s not why we did it.
Today, spiraling health care costs are pushing our families and businesses to the brink of ruin, while millions of Americans go without the care they desperately need. Fixing this broken system will be enormously difficult. But we can succeed. The chance to make fundamental change like this in people’s daily lives — that is why we did it.
The campaign to pass real health care reform in 2009 is the biggest test of our movement since the election. Once again, victory is far from certain. Our opposition will be fierce, and they have been down this road before. To prevail, we must once more build a coast-to-coast operation ready to knock on doors, deploy volunteers, get out the facts, and show the world how real change happens in America.
And just like before, I cannot do it without your support.
So I’m asking you to remember all that you gave over the last two years to get us here — all the time, resources, and faith you invested as a down payment to earn us our place at this crossroads in history. All that you’ve done has led up to this — and whether or not our country takes the next crucial step depends on what you do right now.
Will you donate whatever you can afford to support the campaign for real health care reform in 2009?
IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU GIVE, AS LONG AS YOU GIVE WHAT YOU CAN. Millions of families on the brink are counting on us to do just that. I know we can deliver.
Thank you, so much, for getting us this far. And thank you for standing up once again to take us the rest of the way.
Sincerely,
President Barack Obama

Latest from Glenn Beck on Inspector General (Walpin) firing by BO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW7dt5V5yUw&feature=channel
Beck diagrams the chain of power vs Walpin and the “community organizing” connections/influence.
BO stinks big time.
Thanks,KR. Great explanation. I believe Michele Obama is also involved.
I think Manchelle’s chief of staff is taking his job? I think I have that right.
pay to play at it.s finest
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/06/17/fbi-probing-obstruction-of-justice-in-related-walpin-case/
The FBI is getting involved because a former St Hope executive of Kevin Johnson accused Johnson of deleting all the e-mails which relate to his fraudulent use of money.
The latest is Dr. Utopia has gone back to his scorched earth policy of attacking citizens. Obama is saying that Walpin is confused and disoriented.
You have to love this Walpin dude. He said 0bama was a liar and listen to this, “I would never say that President 0bama doesn`t have the capacity to continue to serve because of his statement that there are 56 states.”
AAAAHHH don`t you love it. This guy`s toast but you have to love his balls. Too bad he didn`t say, “So I was confused, the potus get that way when his totus messes up also.
http://washingtontimes.com/weblogs/watercooler/2009/jun/17/ig-witness-blows-white-house-excuse/
This is getting real good. This could be Walpingate.
Yeah if they get away with this …saying the guy is dazed and confused then we are all in big trouble!! Liars!!
lets hope this grows legs and walks all over teh one..
Beck also gave Walpin a dementia test live on his show. It was kind of demeaning but the guy passed with flying colors. Even spelled the word “world” backward faster than I could. He is under no illusions about his future as IG. He knows he’s toast but says he won’t go down without a fight just on principle of protecting his good name. Good for him. This whole thing is yet another example of bully politics that BO learned at the feet of the masters…. If you can’t win fair & square – go for the jugular!
“Obama Blames Decades of Mistakes For Recession”
Of course, we at Hillbuzz knew it was coming. More blame on anyone & anything but Benito & his recent policies.
In still another naked power grab, Obama’s plan would bestow vast new powers on the Federal Reserve, authorizing it to oversee the entire financial system.
Now remember, the Fed is NOT an arm of government. It’s a private institution. And I do believe it’s the source of all the money that’s been cranked off presses of late.
How do you get out of a debt situation? Only three ways: borrow, print money or tax.
Borrowing has been maxed out, from world-wide sources. Yup, we’ve been printing almost non-stop with no benefit. So what’s left is to tax.
It is no coincidence that BO is going to TAX health care benefits as part of the healthcare plan. “You will be able to keep your doctor, your plan if you like them,” Benito soothes. Yeah, but you WILL be taxed on your insurance plan as a penalty for not using the government plan!
This plan announced today would also create a new consumer protection agency to guard against the types of abuses that played a big role in the current crisis.
In remarks readied for the unveiling of new rules to govern business, Obama attributed much of the country’s current problem to “a cascade of mistakes and missed opportunities” which happened over several decades. (LOOK, LOOK, IT’S NOT MY FAULT!!)
The 88-page white paper put forward by the administration Wednesday will spark intense debate in Congress, with opponents already charging that it imposes too many restrictions that will harm the ability of financial companies to compete in the global economy.
Off-topic . . . where is our precocious Eric P of late?? I miss him.
I miss him too, Neenee.
IS YOUR STATE ON THIS LIST???
A number of states have deep budget deficits that threaten to bring shutdowns as early as August.
States in the most trouble are:
* California
* Arizona
* Illinois
* Florida
* Alabama
* Rhode Island
On “The Economic Populist” site, there’s a map that shows the gap between expected 2009 state revenues and the budget for the year in percentage terms. These states show the deficit as more than 20% percentage points of budget.
As a corollary, the author predicts those same states—also including Michigan—will see an unemployment level greater than 15%.
Link to very interesting article & graphs:
http://www.economicpopulist.org/content/californias-screwed-arizona-and-rhode-island-are-too
I’m in RI and it is pretty bad. We have been ahead of the curve in unemployment and debt for a year or 2. The corruption is so widespread it’s unreal
FYI Democrats control EVERYTHING and have done so for probalby 40 years. Occasionally we have a Republican governer. However, the dominant Democrats have really had control of the entire state for my lifetime. And it is one of the leading states going down the tubes
People vote the name over and over. It’s more voter apathy than anything. This should change becasue every democrat is going hog wild proposing taxes on everything but toilet paper and people are getting seriously upset
Yup – I’m from AZ and our deficit is courtesy of our former Gov. Janet Napalitano. You may recognize the name. She is now our current Secretary of Home Land Security. Our gain, the country’s loss. She is as ineffective in her new position as she was in her old one. Obama’s theory of hiring – from the bottom of the barrell or tax cheats……..the better to control them, my dear!
Florida isn’t allowed to run a deficit. So, while we’ve had pretty painful cuts, cuts where made and we don’t billions of dollars of debt like California.
This is a meaningful letter. Beck will read it again tonight. It’s too long to post, but well worth reading.
I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I?
Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

BE HEARD: Check out this online petition that was created based on this letter sent to Glenn — sign it! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/8/an-open-letter-to-our-nations-leadership
I love the last line. ” Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.”
Signed. Sent myself a copy so that I can e-mail it to friends and family. Thanks!
Just heard the letter on Beck.
OK. Fess up. Was the author somebody we know who comments on this site?
I was thinking the same thing, FLMom.
Garlic,
Did you write that letter?
I just heard this on Glenn Beck’s show here in AZ. I am so proud that the woman who wrote this is from AZ. Wish I knew how to contact her cuz she said exactly what I’ve been thinking for quite awhile now. And I venture to say that she speaks for a WHOLE lot of us. I knew that prior to finding the petition on Glenn’s website but I think the # of people trying to sign it have crashed the website. Couldn’t access it from GlennBeck.com nor could I get thru ont he site listed here. I plan to call my Senators & Reps. and telling them to access this letter and take everything in it to heart. Being from AZ, I will specifically emphasize the 1st item where we seek representation as the illegal immigration one to Sen. McCain. I get sick in my mouth every time he calls the illegals “God’s children!” (even more so than when he calls us “my friends!” GAG!!!! Yes, people, We are coming! And they better get ready because we will be the “silent majority” no longer! Now I’ll go back to trying to put my name on the petition. I will keep trying until I succeed.
frankie, GOOD IDEA! I am going to fax a letter against healthcare AND this letter to a different congressperson each day.
BLOW OUT CONGRESS started 3 days ago. I think they need to put more than one address and phone number up per day. 535 days is too long of a time period. I talked to them about it; hope they do. I will still continue to call and fax every day. NOTE: The congresspersons have it set up, that if you do not belong to their state, most of them will not accept e-mails from you. THEY DO NOT WANT TO HEAR FROM US! So, calling and faxing is better.
This is the plan. There are 535 members of Congress. Every day we hit a different member of Congress at the same time each day. EACH DAY ANOTHER MEMBER OF CONGRESS WILL BE POSTED AT http://www.blowoutcongress.com . Taking Back Our Country One Incumbent at a Time
If all of us diligently “blow them away”, one by one, they will become very nervous about upcoming elections and give in to us. This can work if we all do it. It only takes a few minutes each day. The information we need will be posted each day at the site. I am in! Let’s Roll!
TXMom – Love the “Let’s Roll”! I’ve found that when I call the Capital phone #’s, their mailboxes are usually full. But if you call their local State office # – they normally answer the phone personally or have a cpl options for #’s to leave messages. I normally go the local route. I’ve sent emails to any # of congressmen from other states. Unless things have changed in the last month or 2, I had no problem. I just put in my AZ address and typed away. Even got responses from some other State’s Senators but have never gotten a reply from my own. Sad! More fun & personal to make the phone call. They can hear the determination in your voice & convey that to their boss.
Please please please sign this petition.. Send it to your email lists.. THANKS..

An open letter to our nations leaders…
this link is not working
I think the volume of people wanting to access this have crashed the site. I will keep trying on glennbeck.com – if they have to change the log in site, it will appear there 1st.
frankie, “I think the volume of people wanting to access this have crashed the site.”
Isn’t that wonderful? WE ARE WAKING UP AND ON THE WAY. LOOK OUT!!!
Scared of Palin? The libs should be………………
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/06/sarah_palin_the_21st_century_i.html
Hi, Michl.
“It will be the undoing of Obama, and it may be overwhelming.” YES! Now we have to get those Republicans in line and convince them.
I agree. Hopefully they are smart enough to see what the libs are seeing. They are downright scared, and they know she can win. If this country is in as bad a shape as I think it will be in a few years, he’s gone. Sarah should be a shoe in, as long as we fight hard, and never let up.
Just check the comments on any HuffPo post regarding Palin and you can just smell the fear.
Axelrod has deep pockets, the paid O-bots are swarming.
But I warn anyone not familiar with PuffHo…the unmitigated HATE, the disgusting racism and misogyny are horrific over there. Please have a strong stomach if you wade into that cesspool. These are people who think they are funny and/or clever to call Trig a retard who should have been aborted. And it gets worse…MUCH worse, if one can possibly quantify such FILTH.
There’s so much of that filth coming out of the woodwork on the supposed intelligentsia’s sites…HUffington should clean up her act…
Not like the Hillbuzz site, of course, which only attracts the best people around!
TXMom – yes, I hope we are on our way! It’s way past time. We need to all stand up and say “WE’RE MAD AS HELL & WE’RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!! People are sick to death of the finger pointing and the lame blame game of Dem, against, Rep, against, Lib, against Ind. They’re all supposed to be representing us and none of them are. A poll on Beck asked if people thought all politicians are corrupt. I voted Yes! The poll results at that point showed that 98+ % think they’re all corrupt. Imagine that!!! Like the woman in the letter said – time to fire the whole damn bunch of em and replace with new. The odds doing that have to be better than what we have now.
One of our local Montana bloggers posted a piece about political corruption yesterday and made a observation you’ll enjoy:
“But the interesting thing about the two different groups, is that for the most part Democrats are corrupt for money, and Republicans are corrupt for sex. There are exceptions, (Edwards and Randy Cunningham) but it seems that if you are trying to get rich, be a Democrat in elected office. On the other hand, if you are trying to get laid, be a Republican. Personally I think that the Republicans should be using it as a selling point instead of running away from it.”
Thanks to Steve at Rabid Sanity – http://rabidsanity.blogspot.com/2009/06/scanalous.html
I just tried to access the petition on glennbeck.com again and this time got this message:”Due to extreme popularity, signatures on this petition are temporarily closed. We hope to have this petition live shortly”. This is awesome. Crashed the servers. ALRIGHT!!!!!! Sends a message all its own.
we are on the move,
Obama is Mullah of the Flies.
Keep up the fight HillBuzz. You guys are real fighters. We have a bunch of wimps in the GOP.
Go Sarah Palin.
Watch Out World!
Yes She Can!
Seriously, I’m clueless as to why people think it’s okay to incessantly bagger those in the media.
BUT, it’s also freedom of speech, period. It promotes the much coveted destruction of censorship so I say kudos to taking the risk, and maybe one day (hopefully soon) we’ll all be able to laugh at ourselves and how ridiculous, and perfectly IMPERFECT each of us actually are.
Also, Mrs. Palin should know that with the events that have taken place in the past months, she’d be a target. And I think that when you look at the entire picture, not only was this one joke funny, but greatly needed. It’s showing the whole Human Race just how serious some people are about shutting others up.
Perhaps the comedic late night shows should put it in their contract to not only be funny, but also respectful that unbeknownst to them, other people have feelings and souls too.
So as you can see I’m conflicted. And I should be.
However, my hatred of sexism is greater than the extent of my compassion. Some things just shouldn’t be said.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/MarkTapscott/Weve-heard-this-Washington-song-before.html
Nancy Pelosi made history Wednesday. She barred Republicans from offering any amendments to spending legislation.
THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!
I am sick of this communist totalitarian.
These people are unbelievable. No brains & no shame. Pelosi believes she’s untouchable and just a notch below Godobama after skating free of the flap over the CIA comment. BO thinks he IS God. I have to believe that their over-reaching will bring both of their houses of cards down – it’s the only thing that gets me thru the day when hour by hour something more bizarre comes to our attention.
Dems stripped 3 amendments from the most recent bill. surprise surprise, one of the amendments was to investigate Pelosi. The other 2? No funding for ACORN. Democrats have stripped all 3, so ACORN gets their funding and Pelosi isn’t investigated
They aren’t even trying to hide their corruption anymore. It’s all out in the open
I liked the name: The Barry and Nancy Show.
They are two peas in a pod. Habitual liars, busy creating false images of themselves.
I remember shortly after the election Pelosi stating that she is non-partisan. Yup, above all the partisan wrangling. She must be up in the heavens sitting at the right hand of the great obummer.
I am not sure if anyone posted this, I have been busy, but I saw Betty Jean Kling on Greta and here is her website:
http://www.free-us-now.com/
She was great at the protest and I am glad to see she is really pursuing this. We cannot let this sexism towards women continue. Enough is enough. I had to put up with a lot of this crap when I was young, and fought it all my life. I am so glad that Betty is so fired up. I was really furious with the lame response that NOW issued, and all I got from them in response to my email was an application and a plea for a donation! Over my dead body. They will not get a red cent out of me until they represent All of us women.
For years I have gotten mad that violence against women including rape is not considered a hate crime. She is the first woman who I have ever seen make a huge point of it!!!!! I know that there are other women who agree with us, but I have never seen it. I saw her both times on Greta and she was great. And, even with all that I thought of her after what she said then, i think even more of her for pointing out that domestic violence and crime against women are hate crimes.
I was at the Fire David Letterman rally. My guess there was about 200 people there. Here are the videos I took, you can see the crowd.

hillary fell and fractured her elbow jut saw it on morning news..
I was just about to say that. I heard about it late last night.
She’ll be having surgery in the coming week. Hope she’s gets well soon.
I’m reposting this ~It was on the Tuesday thread~ becasue I think it’s an example of BO using the FDA against a private citizen.
IMHO, it appears that BO is using the FDA to go after Rush Limbaugh. Zicam is one of his long time sponsors. They couldn’t beat him when they went after him personally, so now they are going after his sponsors. ~Sound familiar anyone?~ To me, it’s another instance of the government going after a private citizen for dissenting.
We’ve got to keep the pressure on Letterman. If we back down on this, then who or what will be next. Let’s prove that we can go Alinsky on them too!
P.S. I have not heard this from anybody else. What do you think. Zicam has had 160 complaints in 10 years. Asprin has more death than that a year. It’s curious to me why suddenly, the FDA thinks that 160 in 10 years is too many?
I totally agree with you? Will this joke show ever end? OMG I am so tired of all the baloney…Zicam is made of natural stuff right? How can the FDA regulate natural stuff anyhow??
“Gangsta Government” at it`s finest. More Napoleon complex Emanuel antics. The sooner everyone signs Beck`s “the letter” the better.
The petition site, still does not work. By the time they get a new server, everyone will forget.
I don’t think people will forget this one. People are getting riled and a sleeping giant has been awakened. We’ll soon be like the protestors in Iran. The only differnce is they’re fighting to get their freedom back and we’ll fighting to keep ours. Sad that this uprising in Iran didn’t happen while Bush was in office or someone other than BO in there now who would support these people who so despartely want their freedom back. An encouraging word from us would mean so much but of course, BO wants to be leader of a thugocracy just like the “dear Leader” in Iran so he’s going to “not meddle”. Hell, it was Carter’s meddling in the 1st place that took out the Shah of Iran and got us the Mullah’s & their tyranical regime. Someone with more of a brain in the White House would help the Iranian people get back their freedom. Sad that BO just turns his back.
I have another interesting take. On the Mitch Albom radio show here in the Detroit market, he had a representative from the heritage foundation and a representative from the Democratic party on the health reform. The discussion was centered on health care and the ABC show. When the heritage foundation stated that there should be opposing views included, the liberal stated ” Oh, so the GOP is for the fairness doctrine”? I thought you were against it, It needs to be re visited in congress…. This started a huge argument that immediately went away from the health care issue…I am convinced they are playing some serious games in DC
Let’s see if there is more “change the subject” tactics when anyone tries to discuss health care. This whole thing is so scary. When we look at how much Mr. U has done to change the USA in just a few months, it is mindblowing. Meanwhile, the press talks about him swatting flies and ignores the important things. We cannot let up!
Rush had a great idea for countering the ABC/BO Healthcare show. Since BO doesn’t like FOX, he suggested that on the FOX movie channel they run “The Manchurian Candidate” and starting at 5:00 p.m. with Beck, then Hannity, then O’Reilly, then Greta, they start an evening long debate and opposing views on government run healthcare. I think someone here had a similar idea about Glenn Beck doing something like this.
I think it’s a great idea. The touch with the “The Manchurian Candidate” is super.
That was me yesterday, TN WAHM. I suggested that Fox go nonstop all day against the ABC White House informercial. Emailed Fox, but haven’t heard anything. I’m sure they’ve already thought of it & something even better.
Dang computer at home is down, so didn’t post last night.
Even though the CBO & some Dems are “amazed at the health care numbers & costs” being so far off the estimate, still it’s “too important” not to be rushed through.
Sharon, Thank you. They ARE definitely coming after free speech. It IS on their Christmas List.
I also just heard that Hillary fell and broke ( or fractured ) surgery next week….I hope she is okay.
Me too!! I’ll be praying for a speedy recovery. Lord knows we don’t need BO without a Sec. of State for too long. I don’t care who fills in Hillary is who I trust.
Just heard this. Let’s pray it doesn’t keep her out of action too long!
UPDATE: Yesterday, ABC State Propaganda Machine denied the Republicans request to present opposing views of the Obama “Healthcare Indoctrination” special, “Prescription for America”.
Conservatives for Patients’ Rights have requested the rates to buy a 60 second spot preceding ABC’s State-Run Media presentation of the “Overhaul And Destroy” healthcare plan.
ABC DECLINED. NO OPPOSTION ALLOWED!
Also remember, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news will all feature special programming on the president’s “Destroy The Private Sector” health care agenda.
Unbelievable. Give ‘em a little feedback at:
http://abcnews.go.com/Site/page?id=3271346&cat=ABC%20News%20Specials
I have noticed on FOX they are playing both commercials on health care. Pro, and the advertisements from conservatives for patients rights. I do not watch CNN much, just to see what they are NOT reporting… I have not noticed any opposing commercials on the health care. Does anyone know if the conservatives for patients rights have been able to advertise on the other networks?
How do we get sponsors and conduct a protest. You know, I realized that we may not be able to physically come together for tea parties, but what about virtual tea parties. Protests that can occur in our daily lives. Pin-pointed and direct protests. I think ABC and it’s sponsors need to feel our wrath and marching will not always have the impact that’s required.
I know when we went after Letterman, someone here tracked down sponsors. What are the major sponsors for ABC and let’s do the same. A virtual tea party can be just as effective, if not more.
Rush just mentioned this. While it doesn’t surprise me, it is still unbelievable. I thought dissent was the pillar of democracy? The left are really showing their true colors on this.
Dissent is apparently no long a right of American citizens. I heard this a.m. that the BO bunch is going after some newspaper for the records of some who posted comments that were not complimentary to the BO administration and with plans to go after those who posted the comments. With that in mind, what happens when they start going after all these blogs & those of us who post here? We’ll be on a list somewhere you can bet your bippy!
Hi, frankie! Do you remember where you heard this or where I can find this information? Thanks.
I am sure we are all on some list for standing up for our country and constitiution.
Doesn’t stop me, our family has already been persecuted by the gov’t (had our garbage stolen and combed through by the FBI) and believe me, you can come out alive.
Don’t let it stop you.
David just showed why ” The Conservative Reconstruction Project” has taken off and it keeps getting bigger. People have a voice.
Where is Hillbuzz?? Are they OK?
And here we go again…..
The sun finally came out here today. Maybe they are making hay while the sun shines! Have a great day boyz!
If I was in Chicago today, I wouldn’t be inside. The weather looks really nice.
Here in the backwoods of north Florida, we’re pushing 100. Started yesterday, and forecast to last thru Sunday.
Step outside the building (admittedly, lots of brick and concrete) and the heat just hammers you.
It is raining here in DC.
Yeah it’s been so cold here in Indiana…I can’t believe it..we had to wear coats!!
Ridiculously cold here in Buffalo today.
SDB,
How`s that Global Warming working out for ya?
I might as well add my two cents:
It’s been raining all day on Long Island. And the last few days have definitely been jacket weather.
N.Y. hasn’t had much of a spring this year. I sure hope we have a summer.
Global Warming – Rubbish!
I am sure the guys are fine. My first thought is that they are probably having problems with posting on the site again. Certainly alot of people have been coming here to get the info they need to boycott David Letterman’s sponsors.
I know they also mentioned that they are working on balancing their lives (personal, professional, etc. commitments) with Hillbuzz. After all the overtime and hard work they have put into Hillbuzz and combating David Letterman’s attacks, they certainly deserve to take a few days off.
I share your concern for their well being and I have certainly missed them and their insight these past few days (the ABC broadcast in the WH, Pelosi locking the Republicans out, N. Korea pointing the nuke at Hawaii, Olive Garden pulling their sponsorship, the lackluster fundraising of current national liberal Democrat leaders, Sec. Clinton falling, etc.). But I will continue to pray for them, their safety, their health, Lionel’s health, etc. I am positive they will return as soon as possible.
Don’t know if this was posted anywhere on this thread, but today, June 18th, OLIVE GARDEN HAS PULLED THEIR ADS from Letterman – YEAH!!!!!!!
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/23889.html
Do not forget to write them to thank them for this decision.
YIPPEEEE!!!
So, now it’s Hellman’s, Embassy Suites and
Olive Garden. Yogi, is that correct? Good start.
Yes, you’re correct. I think Olive Garden is huge because they’re the first to pull the ads from the television show.
I just saw it on Drudge.
I will definitely be sending them a thank you note. What was the C-suite contact info for Hellmans? I want to send them a thank you note as well.
YEAH BABY!!!!! now THAT’S change i want to believe in!!
Every one of us owes ourselves a pat on the back and a thank you to Sebastian and hillbuzz.
Feels pretty good to pull a Sharpton, when it’s for the right cause!!!!!
What is the olive garden email? I’d like to than them. Ya know, it seems the first ones to fold and most likely to fold are the ones involving food and food products. Fact of the matter is, women are the ones that do the majority of food shopping and they were the group that was insulted and degraded.
While everyone is doing their part with the boycott, both men and women, as far as food products go, it’s women and mothers that are the decision makers of who to buy and not buy from.
3 sponsors cancelled. Oh yeah, they are feeling the heat. Keep it up! Kellogg should be a big target. It’s mothers that buy cereal.
TXMom – I caught this bit about the gov’t going after people who posted comments to some newspaper article on the early morning talk radio program this a.m. Was about 6:15 so wasn’t totally awake & didn’t commit the newspaper or other specifics to memory. Sorry. Maybe it will be mentioned again. I’ll keep my eyes & ears open and post anything I find out.
frankie, Thanks. We have to stay aware and watch these things. I think I found it. Here’s a brief synopsis and links to stories.
skuzzlebutt writes “In a federal tax case reported in the Las Vegas Review Journal last week, a local businessman has been paying his employees in gold coins instead of cash or ACH, and has reportedly told them that they can only be taxed on the face value of the coinage — not the much higher market value of the metal. The United States disagreed, and brought him up on 57 counts of income tax evasion, tax fraud and criminal conspiracy.
The non-authenticated comments section of the original article brought a lot of supporters out of the woodwork, including a few who thought the jury should be hung (literally, procedurally, or figuratively … pick one). In response, the prosecution has subpoenaed the names of the anonymous commenters, citing fears of jury safety. Or something.
http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/06/17/1218210
Although there’s no specific federal shield law allowing newspapers to protect their sources’ identities, some courts have held that sweeping subpoenas can violate people’s free speech rights. That’s because attempts to unmask readers/commenters could intimidate others from reading newspapers or expressing opinions in the future.

TXMom – sounds similar to what I was hearing. I emailed the talk show host for his info and know he’ll get back to me but not sure if today or tomorrow. Will let you know. You are right – we have to keep on top of this. Going after people under the guise of “safety” is a neat little cover but free speech rights cannot be tampered with and claiming “safely” will just lead down to road to more. Shades of BO’s “Civilian military” comes to mind & scares the hell out of me. Will be in touch!
Wow, paying in gold is straight out of Atlas Shrugged!
BSB, Yep. Are they trying to telling us something, Billy?
BERLIN (AP) —” It’s a novel twist on the vending machine: in go the coins, out comes a nugget of gold. TG-Gold-Super-Markt, a company based in Reutlingen, southwestern Germany, is developing a machine to dispense pieces of gold as small as one gram in ornamental boxes for about euro30 ($42).” Article:http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iNGh5XQAPwRW7jvNojPMzE9RzDggD98T97K82
“Thomas Geissler, who owns the company behind the idea, said: “German investors have always preferred to hold a lot of personal wealth in gold, for historical reasons. They have twice lost everything.”

oops. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iNGh5XQAPwRW7jvNojPMzE9RzDggD98T97K82
Hope this works.
Omg, you guys! Olive Garden cancels its ads on Letterman!!

Dick Morris says that healthcare is probably going to go on the backburner.
Reason: there’s no money to enact it. And Benito’s only choices are two that will plummet his popularity.
No matter how confiscatory Obama chooses to become, the rich don’t have enough resources to totally fund all this.
“Only broader taxes will do the job. Obama faces two practical choices: a value added tax (VAT) or taxing health insurance benefits.
“The political harm either way will be enormous. Not only will Obama be breaking his pledge not to tax the middle class but also he will be doing so in a particularly pernicious way.
“If Obama opts for the value-added tax, Democrats will hope to cloak the increase in the price of the product.
“They reason that the consumer won’t know how much the tax is since it will be added on throughout the sale and resale of the product rather than at the cash register at the end, as the sales tax is. But it will work the other way.
“As inflation sets in, triggered by Obama’s deficit spending, consumers will blame the whole thing on Obama. His value-added tax will be much magnified in the voters’ minds to include all of the inflation going on.
“Of course, the prudent thing to do is postpone healthcare changes until the economy generates some revenues and trims the deficit. But the socialist in the White House can’t do that. He’s got to strike while his congressional majority is hot. So he is forcing his administration and his party to choose among unpalatable options to finance his program.
“His demand may be a bridge too far, endangering his popularity with the American people.
“But the foreign and domestic focus on the deficit has a harsher political impact: It forces the Democrats to come up with money to fund healthcare reform. In other words, it makes them raise taxes. The Democratic Party is good at fooling itself that tax increases don’t matter and are politically palatable, but they do and they are not.”
Thank you yogi41 for posting on Olive Garden. I am sending out a third batch of letters and will remove them… Now for MARS!!! and Kelloggs.!!! They must be feeling the heat.

I don’t mean to be persnickety, but after monitoring Letterman this week, I believe that the sponsors have changed. For example, I didn’t see any Olive Garden, Mars, or Kelloggs ads. However, I did see McDonalds, Burger King, & General Mills ads. People might be sending letters to the wrong corporations.
An open letter to Sebastian:
Sebastian, I hope you are reading this because I wanted to offer my heartfelt thanks for your help on the Letterman boycott. As I’m sure you’ve seen, at least 3 major sponsors have pulled out and the rest must be quaking in their boots.
Your encouragement and tips were crucial to this success, and as I’m also sure you know, your column was linked all over the blogosphere, so it wasn’t just us ‘buzzers who benefited from your wisdom.
You told us it would work and it worked. You are a hero to so many of us.
Your Republican Friend,
BlueStateBilly
I second that.
Ditto that. Hillbuzz, you’re one of the few sites that would not give up and wouldn’t let us accept the apology as “enough”. Too many other sites did and too many of them were “conservative” sites. So, I’m thankful to you for keeping us on the ball.
I really appreciate the guidance of Sebastian and Hillbuzz crew on how to light a fire under the butts of the terminally offensive. Thanks guys!
I agree totally. Sebastian’s column was invaluable. A magical recipe for effective action. So simple yet so absolutely powerful and effective. I am thrilled by the results – completely thrilled. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Today is our 28th Anniversary. Husband just called to ask where I wanted to go for dinner.
I’m thinking The Olive Garden would be a good choice.
Happy Anniversary! And yes, Olive Garden would be a great choice – give them some love, too!
Just called my girlfriend and we’re going to the Olive Garden tomorrow night for dinner.
I also e-mailed every female friend and relative I can think of to tell them who the good guys are that did the right thing, and that M & M Mars and Kelloggs still like having their products associated with the statutory rape of 14 year old girls.
My hard-left Sis was like “You did this with Hillary Democrats?!?!?”
I told her “These are the Democrats I used to know, and if the whole party was like these folks, I’d still be a proud Democrat.”
Her head will probably explode now! LOL
No, don’t go back to the dark side.
Happy 28th Anniversary, FLMom. Perfect.
Happy Anniversary! Ironically, today is my 16th wedding anniversary. Enjoy your special day.
Happy 16th, pjean!
You Too!
FOX News is reporting that Olive Garden just pulled its advertising for Letterman for the rest of the year.
Whoops… sorry. I see it’s been reported already.
Hi, Eric!
Long time, no hear! We’ve missed your postings.
Eric…..DITTO!
Home computer connection lost. Repairman from Mars enroute. Talk to ya tomorrow, TX Mom!
I met the J&J rep in my office this week and he had his supervisor with him. I expressed in no uncertain terms how I have felt being expected to laugh at these horrible sexist jokes… In college, med school and residency; and by God I am not laughing now.
I gave them two weeks to get J&J off the sponser list or I would no longer (after 40 years) prescribe any of their products.
They make Retin A micro, Neutragena, and Aveeno.
I am not amused.
June
What was their reply to you when you told them this, face-to-face?
Thank you, June!
If you read the comments on the link concerning Olive Garden pulling their advertisements–there are a lot of nasty comments claiming that advertisers should not pull their ads just because women are subjected to any filth the speaker wants to throw out on shows that the sponsor is promoting with their ad money.
I suggest that a campaign be launched immediately to insure that Olive Garden knows that each and every one of us appreciate their decision.
In addition, I believe we need to increase our efforts to make sure sponsors know that there are hazards to supporting the anti-women garbage some shows seem to promote.
Those people are sick sick sick. They are acctually mad at the Olive Garden for not wanting their restaurants associated with the statutory rape of 14-year olds.
There is bad sickness in this world.
Olive Garden dropped Letterman Advertising (breaking news)

Keep it up Hillbuzz and everybody involved. don’t let up just like the civil rights movement.

Sorry if this posts twice—computer gremlins!
Thanks to everyone standing up for Sarah and women everywhere!
I am so HAPPY I can’t put it in words for Olive Garden’s decision. Step by step is how we will change the misogynist mindset in this country. If we can do it here, we can lead the way for the rest of the world.
Even if Letterman isn’t fired, he has been exposed and will continue to feel the heat from the public and sponsors for a long time (thanks to blogs like Hillbuzz!). Letterman’s image will never be the same unless he takes concrete actions to show remorse. I am speaking as a long time fan of Letterman’s. I have mostly tuned him out however since the election because he’s just gotten nastier and mean.
Pagar
I’ll bet those nasty comments are coming mostly from those same old Axlerod trolls who infest any article dealing with Sarah or Hillary. Who in their right mind would post some of the hateful garbage you read in those comments?
Great news!!!
Olive Garden pulls Letterman ads

Olive Garden disputes report that ads were pulled from Letterman
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 06.18.09 | Jimmy Orr

A spokesman for the Olive Garden disputed a report from Politicothat the restaurant chain pulled its advertising from the David Letterman show due to jokes about Sarah Palin’s daughter.
“Information reported today by Andy Barr of Politico regarding Olive Garden’s advertising on the Late Show with David Letterman was erroneous. No authorized spokesperson for the company confirmed the information in his report,” said Olive Garden spokesman Rich Jeffers in an email to The Vote.
“The Olive Garden media schedule is planned months in advance. The schedule for the Late Show with David Letterman was completed earlier this month. We take all guest concerns seriously. And, as always, we will factor those concerns in as we plan our advertising schedule in the future,” he continued.

Politico is horrible at reporting “facts”. How hard is it to get 1 story right, Politico? Your site sucks.
I guess it’s the stink that attracts all those obnoxious posters over there.
Olive Garden bows down to the leftists, what else is knew. I never eat at Olive Garden anyway, it’s basically Soup Plantation with Italian Food..and from what I hear, it’s pretty nasty food too
Why can’t the media get anything straight. Either they pulled their adds or they didn’t. WTF is up with Andy Barr? Hey Politco how about an update?
take it with a grain of salt. If the media reports that they pulled their ads, people know it is really working and will continue.
The liberals want this to go away as fast as it can
Here is what The Orlando Sentinel is reporting, and the chain is headquartered in Orlando-
Olive Garden won’t be running advertisements on David Letterman anytime soon, but Orlando-based Darden Restaurants is disputing media reports saying the Italian chain has canceled ads over controversy stemming from an off-color joke about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter.
People angry over Letterman’s joke earlier this month have been pressuring advertisers such as Olive Garden to boycott the show.
Darden Restaurants spokesman Rich Jeffers said late Wednesday that Olive Garden had no more ads scheduled to run for the current season and had not made a decision on whether to advertise during the next season starting in September. Today, the Web site Politico.com is reporting that Olive Garden says it has canceled its scheduled ads for the rest of the year.
Well until they make a decision I think I’ll save some money, go pick a couple of eggplant from the garden and make my own meal. My husband always says he can get better at home, anyway.
I’ll eat Hellmann’s mayonnaise rather than go to Olive Garden; the email I got from Olive Garden was vague, Hellmann’s was very definite.
PS. I just emailed Olive Garden and told them until I heard for sure they would not be advertising on Letterman, I will stay home and eat Hellmann’s mayonaise.
Now the story changes. I should have waited to send them a thank you response. They want it both ways. They just got another email from me that until they make their position clear, I take my money elsewhere. They are waffling, not wanting to piss anyone off and lose money-on all sides
I believe just a few families walking into Olive Garden and asking the Host/hostess if the Olive Garden was advertising on the Letterman Show or Not. Chances are they will say they don’t know, the customer should than ask for the manager. If the manager says “Yes”, the customer should say “We’ll come back when you’re are not”, and walk out. If the manager says – “Don’t know”, the customer should say “we’ll come back when you’re not and make it known that you are not”
If the manager says “No, we’re not than the customer should ask to be seated.
A good number of these incidents, and I predict there will be a sign out front saying “We no longer advertise on the Letterman Show”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ACORN!!
ACORN is celebrating its birthday and as a gift from its friends in the House leadership an amendment that Congressman Steve King (R-IA) and I offered to keep ACORN from getting federal funds through the Census and other federal programs has been denied debate.
They won’t even let it come to the House floor for discussion. They don’t want to have to go on the record in support of this corrupt organization.
No wonder: The American people have said loud and clear that they don’t want Congress funneling their hard-earned tax dollars to ACORN.
In less than 2 weeks, nearly 32,000 Americans signed my petition to stop Congress from spending millions on ACORN’s voter registration fraud.
If you haven’t signed yet: SIGN NOW!
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/TaxDollars/
Please forward this to all your friends and your family and your co-workers.
Congress has absolutely no intention to stop funding ACORN. And, if they can’t say no to ACORN — an organization investigated and indicted for voter registration fraud in more than a dozen states — where will they draw the line?!
This is your money. You have the right to say that you’ve had enough.
Sincerely,
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann

There is a big problem here with everyone repeating, “This blog said this…” “This blog said that…”
Go to the source itself:

Here’s the NYT article fwiw. It sounds like the Olive Garden is trying to be like King Solomon & split the baby to placate both sides. They didn’t cancel their ads, but it sounds like they aren’t buying new time on Letterman, either:
