The Mineral City Coffee Club meets every Sunday to discuss matters pertinent to current events, politics in general, the annual Wooly Bear Festival, and whatever their families are up to (in particular, their model-train obsessed husbands and ungrateful daughters). Headquartered in Mineral City (“the Paris of Tuscarawas County”), the formerly Democrat-only Coffee Club has recently joined forces with the formerly Republican-only Mineral City Ladies Guild, in bipartisan beverage enjoyment unprecedented in central Ohio. Election 2008 made strange bedfellows and breakfast buddies indeed. Whenever the ladies decide to write in, we’ll post their musings here.

All this talk about Ayers and how he still might bomb. Wonderful if he would do this
if Obama is in the white house. Remember he just some guy in the neighborhood.

I just want to say up front that I am a Republican, but I will always put my country before ANY party. If the tables were turned and the Republican ticket was putting up a person like “O”, I would work just as hard not to get him elected. I have served 26 years in the military and fought three wars for our right to agree and respectfully disagree. I do not like the people that put others down just because they do not agree with the other person’s point of view. I ran across this site and hope that people will take a look at it and pass it along. I do not want all my hard work and the hard work of all my brothers and sisters that I fought alongside to be lost to a person like this. I hope together that we can stop this man before it is too late. I think that BOTH sides need to take back their party and bring them back to their core values. Please keep up the good work. Two years ago I never thought that I would join together with “the other side” but my country is way too important to be taken over by a person like this and will join with anyone that will help me save her.

Hey everyone,
(Especially all of you PUMAs who put country and the Constitution first.) Have any of you heard about the lawsuit questioning Obama’s eligibility to be President. The media has already slowly started talking about it this week. It’s Berg v. Obama. Philip Berg is a life-long Democratic attorney filing suit against Obama because he believes Obama is NOT eligible to be POTUS and demands that Obama release his records to prove him otherwise.
The link BELOW will take you directly to the complaint.

If you want more info on the case, click on the following links.

I don’t know if I should be on this site.
I’m trying to let everyone know about my blog at http://billlong.blogtownhall.com. It has a lot of links on it that make a compelling case against Barack Obama.
I can safely say that Barack Obama is a Marxist allied with a domestic terrorist, Islamists, and other radical leftists for at least the last 21 years on project after project with the purpose of subverting the United States. With a massive influx of money from Islamist and radical left sources, voter fraud, and a biased press; they’re on the verge of succeeding.
http://www.pr-inside.com/william-ayers-and-barack-obama-finally-r797225.htm
This unrepentant domestic terrorist, as head of the Weather Underground, was planning to kill 25 million Americans who couldn’t be ‘reeducated’.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJn5b8_weUY
I’m a Vietnam veteran who after watching the DVD ‘Obsession’ about Islamic terrorism and reading Brigitte Gabriel’s book ‘Because They Hate’ decided to find out what I could about Barack Obama. It has me truly concerned for this nation that I love. You can see a lot more about Obama and his allies on my blog.
For me the most important article I found to understand Barack Obama is at http://www.faithfreedom.org/obama.html

Oh thank God I found this site!! I thought I was going insane. I thought I was the only one seeing this stuff going on. I kept telling myself, stop looking at the news, stop reading the internet… you’re obviously reading/seeing things the wrong way.
I KNEW the bum was a fraud from the start. He’s somebody’s puppet! He’s a Chicago street thug nothing more… and he BEAT OUT HILLARY CLINTON???
Look, I’m about as far right as you can get before hitting the break down lane, but he BEAT OUT HILLARY CLINTON??? He is so far left he’s outside the left turn lane and heading into on coming traffic. How, in the name of all that’s holy, does that happen??
There is only one way, and that’s to cheat!!!
I’m just so happy I found you now I know I’m not going stark raving mad. This man HAS to be stopped, for the sake of the Great Nation. It’s time he met his “on coming traffic”!!
October 28, 2008 at 4:12 pm
I am so impressed with this web-site. I knew there had to be Democrats that are just as scared and nervous about what Obama as President might mean.
I still to this day don’t understand how in the world he beat Hillary Clinton?
Even most Republicans have alot of respect for both the Clintons and it is really difficult to understand how this is happening. All I can say is, please do what you can and we are Republicans will do what we can, and I am sure that if McCain is elected, I trust Hillary and John McCain to do what is right for our country.
We really need both of them in Washington right now to straighten up the mess we are currently in.
Will be praying for all of you and am thanking you for all that you are doing.

He beat Hillary because the Democratic National Committee (Rules Committee) did a switch regarding the Super Delegates (remember them) The DNC Rule Committee is composed mainly of African American women (Donna Brazil in the lead who made SURE Hillary would not be the candidate. I hope they are happy when Joe Biden’s warning comes true. VOTE MCCAIN VOTE MCCAIN. VOTE MCCAIN. thanks

Yes, Allie: Bobo CHEATED! I live in Las Vegas (for now, otherwise don’t ask), Nevada, you know the ACORN–uh, I mean Silver–State. I had the lovely experience of being spit on, called a racist, and otherwise harassed at my caucus in January, where Bobo’s ACORN minions were working–and I do mean, working very hard: misdirecting people (in between intimidation and abuse) and losing boxes of Hillary votes. And our Democratic secretary of state, Ross Miller, did…zerO about all the complaints that were filed, even the formal one by Hill’s peeps.
This travesty of democracy was follwed by the antidemocratic behavior of the uber-liberal hacks at the DNC’s RBC meeting on May 31 (known to PUMAs as “the day democracy died), the day I ripped up my voting card and sent it to Herr Dean. (I’m now a registered nonpartisan, and I feel clean and liberated.)
But back to the stealing of the nomination by Obobo: check out http://www.wewillnotbesilenced2008.com to see previews of the documentary of the same name, made by Dem director Gigi Gaston and featuring DEMOCRATS (male, female, black, white, brown, etc.) speaking about the various and not so sundry atrocities they witnessed at their respective caucuses and polling places. For good measure, check out Dr. Lynette Long’s http://www.caucusanalysis.org.
We real Dems (and newly ex-Dems), as opposed to the Obama-Biden Dems, loves us some clean and pure democracy and think our votes are SACROSANCT! We love our country. We love our Constitution and striving for a more perfect Union. We love all strong, decent women, even if we don’t agree with everything they say.
We love Joe the plumber, Julianne the freelance editor, and cousin Richie the ironworker. We know that the conferment of a baccalaureate degree does not confer wisdom on the recipient. We love common sense and rural Americans and Americans in every lattitude and longitude.
And we know a true American when we see one, and we know it ain’t Barry Barack Soetero Obama.
ACORN might have stolen my vote in January, but they did not steal my vote on October 22nd for JOHN McCAIN!
Welcome to the land of PUMAs, stewards of democracy and the airwaves. Land of country before party. You are us and we are you!

I am simply amazed at this site. I just found it today. I had spoken via chat with a PUMA. I did not even know what that was. I have since been educated. This is so going on beneath the radar. The media likes to play this game. Being a Republican I’m used to it. They spin the polls to down play how many Republicans are going to vote, and for whom. They are trying to suppress voter turnout. What the media doesn’t understand is, that by telling a Republican there aren’t enough Republican votes it makes them WANT to vote even more. I’ve never seen the Republican base so excited about voting!
October 30, 2008 at 1:14 pm
I am really glad to hear that Allie. The media is ready to call the election over and claim BO as president – get ready for 2012!
I know there is so much going on out there. I am certain that McCain/Palin will win. How is it going out there on the ground? and where else is good site to be kept updated? thank all of you so much

What a great site you guys have! I’m a Republican (lifelong) and was turned on to your site by none other than Rush Limbaugh himself, who mentioned today on his show that he visits your site regularly and finds it very intriguing. I just had to check it out and am very impressed with your thinking and your sanity. I never thought I’d say this but while I honestly disagree with almost all of Hillary’s policies, I would far rather see her as the next President than this socialist Obama. I am convinced that Hillary really loves this country, is a patriot, and would not hesitate to defend it from our enemies (who are now licking their chops in the hope of an Obama presidency). Like other posts have said here, we must all unite to save our country from this horrible choice. God Bless you all and keep up the great work! In fact, I think I’m going to donate to your Ohio trip.
Thanks for all your doing!

1. Bill Ayers 1974 book “Prairie Fire” is dedicated to Sirhan Sirhan who assassinated Robert F. Kennedy, and also to other radicals. (as reported on 10/30/08 Hannity and Colmes)
http://www.zombietime.com/prairie_fire/
2. 10/30/08 on Hannity and Colmes, Ann Coulter said that Bill Ayers “Fugitive Days” 2001 book is dedicated to a list of “cop killers”.
3. Another source of information on Bill Ayers. http://nationalrepublicantrust.com/ayersfactsheet.html
4. Bill Ayers wrote Obama’s 1995 memoir, “Dreams From My Father.”
(Researchers used computer analysis and literary “detective work” to compare Ayers’ “My Fugitive Days” with Obama’s book. Computer analysis report just finished (2nd link below).)
… excerpt from first report (1st link below) …
“In 1995, Barack Obama produced a lyrical masterwork that Time magazine has called “the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician.” Yet all the Obama samples we have unearthed before 1995 are pedestrian and uninspired. There is no precedent for this kind of literary transformation. It is as if a high 90s golfer suddenly showed up with his PGA card – with no known practice rounds in between. We will be happy to show these early examples to anyone who cares to see them.
The Obama camp has refused all inquiries on grades, SAT scores, LSAT scores, student theses, or any other documents that would flesh out what Politico calls Obama’s “scant paper trail.”
Despite being named president of the Harvard Law Review – more of a popularity than a literary contest – Obama has, most unusually, written nothing under his own name for the HLR or any other legal journal.
Sometime between 1992 and 1994, Simon & Schuster canceled the advance it had offered Obama to write “Dreams.” Obama had not been able to finish the book on his own. Ayers could help. He provided an informal editing service for like-minded friends in the neighborhood.
Fellow radical Rashid Khalidi attests to this in the very first sentence of the acknowledgements in his 2004 book, “Resurrecting Empire.” “There are many people without whose support and assistance I could not have written this book, or written it in the way that it was written,” he writes. “First, chronologically, and in other ways, comes Bill Ayers.”

THIS WILL HAVE YOU ROLLING ON THE FLOOR
A few days ago a major Hollywood producer who was sick and tired of seeing Hollywood liberals worshipping at the altar of Barack Obama contacted the Our Country Deserves Better Committee. He said he was going to put together a 30-second spot to mock the absurdity of Barack Obama’s willingness to meet with the world’s most vile and dangerous dictators and despots without preconditions. The ignorance and naivitae Obama has when confronting America’s enemies is appalling, and this producer wanted the American people to realize that when it comes to foreign affairs and national security that Barack Obama is a joke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nligvgv3Rfw

Hey all,
I’m a Christian, for life, anti-big government and pretty flexible on everything else. I used to be a Hilary “hater”, and it wasn’t until Sarah Palin came along that I took a look back and saw how so much of the garbage that got flung at Sarah was pulled out of the same ugly trashcan that got used on Hilary. That was my first epiphany.
The second was looking/listening around and beginning to be really concerned over how people are becoming less and less committed to civil dicussion of ideas, with respect for the people who hold to other ideas, and a willingness to put country and the common good first over personality and utopian idealism.
I’ve said over and over again I would happily have a cup of coffee with any Democrat of any stripe who saw the world that way.
Glad to know they still exist. And they’re here! Starting up the coffee maker as we speak… :)
October 31, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Thank you Democrats for standing up. I like many other folks that have written in thought the Democratic Party was gone for good. Not a big fan of Hillary but was rooting for her all the way over Obama. If your not scared of him, everyone should be. If he wins, allthe freedoms that our soldiers and veterans have fought for are on thier way down. He litterally scares me with his Socialist and Marxists comments. Please, get your folks out to vote to stop Obama. At least Hillary loves this country and is not going to take it under!

Pocket Book Election:
1. Mortgage Relief across the board, see text below and related article
2. Tax cuts across the Board see text below and related article
3. Jobs explained in relation to the oil drilling, nuclear and alternative energies and US car companies = 10’s of millions of HIGH PAYING jobs
4. $2,500 per person tax credit, vs Obama’s $1,000 per person
5. Understanding that the manipulation of oil prices made mortgages less affordable, devaluing bank assets and bank capital, collapsing bank liquidity, which wiped out home equity and then share price equity value. NOT Bush policies of free market Capitalism, which Obama wants to do away with.
6. These together = growth and prosperity versus Obama’s talk of Malaise.
Make the above points very clear and McCain will pull it out in the election. See explanation below and in related article and diagrams in the weblinks, regarding the theory of banking economics and how it predicts with 100% accuracy how sudden changes to the affordability of the monthly mortgage payment lead to the expansion or contraction of the economy.
Subject: When one understands how bank assets and capital are valued through the bank regulatory mechanism, then it’s clear that 1/ Bush is not to blame for crisis, 2/ nor Greenspan for holding rates low, also 3/ a Mortgage Relief solution to turn the economy around.
Overview:
In the Theory of Banking Economics, which tracks how bank liquidity expands and contracts, which some traders call “Monetary Pressure,” includes the corollary, as indicated in the theory stated below, that when there is a sudden change in the net disposable income (“NDI”) of a home owner or net operating income (“NOI”) of a commercial property owner or business to any of the stable costs and expenses of that income, then the affordability will become less if that expense increases suddenly and dramatically, or the affordability will improve, if there is a sudden drop in the expense. The weblink to the article and diagram below gives many examples of sudden changes in expanses and how these changes have affected the liquidity of the banking system and the expansion or contraction of the economy.

Excerpt from the article and diagrams
Theorem
The expansion and contraction of the economy is directly related to the leveraging of the increasing and decreasing values of bank capital, as those values are determined by the changes in (i) the affordability of the monthly mortgage or loan payment (i.e., the strength of the yield of bank assets based on their debt service coverage) and (ii) the risk adjusted ratio of (cash flow bases) assets to capital.
With this theorem as a base, all the outcome of all planned and unplanned programs (such as the effect of tax policy changes, regulatory changes, etc.), of the government and economic events (such as sudden change in private or business income, sudden change in one’s living and business operating expense), can be accurately predicted.
Regarding the Bush Administration’s causing the crisis:
This was brought about by the increase in oil prices from May 2007 at $60 to July 2008 at $147, a 245% spike in a single expense and it’s affect on food and other costs, which made the mortgage less affordable, forced the fed to lower interest rates and eventually all the other solutions Paulson was brought into in anticipation of the problem to work out with Bernanke. As it is becoming increasingly clear that this spike was due to oil price manipulation by hedge funds and others, the solution that has been suggested is that anyone involved in oil has to announce that they are a speculator, and in that case have a 50% margin, while owners of product or actual buyers can continue to hedge for 5% margin.
Regarding why Greenspan was not to blame for holding interest rates low:
Why Greenspan did not raise interest rates after they had been brought down from 3.5% to 1% after the 9/11 crisis in the midst of the Clinton recession, where interest rates had started at 5.5%? With the airlines grounded for 2 weeks after 9/11 and the hospitality industry curtailed worldwide for many months, only the Bush tax cut was there to really bring about a recovery. So the question of Congress was why didn’t Greenspan raise interest rates sooner. The answer, when we understand how all debt and equity capital are valued through the bank regulatory mechanism, is that in order for the Fed to start to raise interest rates from the bottom of a market, they can only do so, when there is an increase in salaries, productivity and earnings of businesses. This doesn’t have to be inflation adjusted, because the matter has to do with the pricing of the mortgage on the books of the banks relative to the actual income shown, based upon which the mortgage formula determines the principal that can be loaned. Therefore, unless the income , the NDI for the private citizen and NOI for business is increasing, an increase in interest rates will devalue the principal in the mortgage, which is then leveraged against the capital of the bank, collapsing the capital and forcing the Fed to lower interest rates. So, the Fed had to wait until the recovery started and wages and income for business started upwards.
As we saw, the Fed started to raise rates eventually up to 5.5%. This increase was also important as there is a model that as interest rates rise, oil, priced in USD will decline. However, as mentioned above, this reversal of oil prices due to interest rate increase did not happen due to oil prices being manipulated. The combination of increases in both oil prices and interest rate hikes eventually creating a double whammy against the principal value of mortgages., The Fed also has an objective to raise interest rates as a protection against catastrophes, such as 9/11, where to preserve bank capital and market liquidity, it was necessary to sharply reduce interest rates. All this to say that there was nothing that Greenspan could do, but let interest rates remain low, even though he had the motivation to raise them for many reasons, as to have done otherwise would have stopped the economy from expanding at all.
The Mortgage Relief Solution:
This is also covered, again, with many examples in the weblink articles above and below. The solution of McCain to spend $300 billion to buy failing loans and refinancing them in better terms helps those that have defaulted on their loans or in the process of foreclosure to have more affordable loans, but that represents only 5% of the market, while the real solution is to provide Mortgage Relief for the entire market, which can be done for both those McCain wants to help and all other home owners, as outlined in the weblinks.
Essentially there are 2 programs now available to the regulators and Treasury that can be brought back, which will improve the affordability of the monthly mortgage payment, increase the value of bank assets and capital and provide an enormous stimulus to the economy that can instantly reverse the downward or stagnant trend we have now. This would be done through FNMA, GNMA and other government lending agencies, where, for example all the distressed loans to be refinanced would go to the FHA and related government lenders established for that purpose:
1. Allow everyone to refinance at up to 5% to 0% equity provided that the cash flow basis of the loan is strong enough, and that the home owner pays an insurance fee for the increased mortgage. This is similar to the GI program to get similar financing through the Veteran’s Administration, which was also used by Clinton in a $6.7 Trillion Guarantee Package in 1993, allowing people stuck in 12% interest loans with insufficient equity in their homes to refinance, to refinance and get 6% prevailing interest rate loans.
This became the start of the Clinton Boom years, which released capital/liquidity in the banks and spending power to the home owner, by making mortgages more affordable. In this case, the interest rate saving will be slight, but people will not be under water with their mortgages.
2. Have the government agree for a fee to subsidize some percentage of the mortgage payment itself, which will make the mortgages much more affordable, releasing money for people to spend, while improving bank liquidity. The home owners would recapture all or part of this government subsidized principal, when they can refinance at some time in the future, when the property values recover to their cash flow values, always maintaining the same affordability ratios. This has also been proposed.
3. And this refinancing of all mortgages allows banks to generate fees, while revaluing all mortgages at a new book value, because the securities the mortgages are in now have been marked to market at about a $500 billion loss, which is keeping bank liquidity from expanding. In short, this $500 billion would be recovered, when people start to refinance.

Hey folks… communist leaders around the world are supporting Obama’s candidacy… he will be the best of buddies with them if he wins. A question for all of you military posters: If Obama wins and orders our military to disarm the general public, how will our folks in uniform react to his order?? (Posse Comitatus no longer applies, because so many exceptions to it have been imposed in past years.) Thanks, Sourdough

Barak Hussein Obama – “MESSIAH” IS just like us
Born of a white woman and a Kenyan Muslim bigamist (he won’t release his birth certificate, but his campaign manager insisted on McCain to release).
Spent years in an Indonesian madrassa (he was registered as a Muslim and as an Indonesian citizen). His “follow-up education”: Lived with his communist grandparents in Hawaii. Spent three weeks in Pakistan when no AMERICANS were allowed to be there.
Entered Harvard with dubious credentials (he won’t release test scores, etc.). Khalid Al Mansour had ARAB BILLIONAIRE friends write letters to get OBAMA into HARVARD & FUND his Education. In a video below Mansour talks about CUTTING the FLESH OUT of the WHITE MAN and JEWS. And says it is OK! GOD WANTS YOU TO DO IT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpnaZj6Bx1c&feature=related
Affirmative-actioned his way into presidency of the Harvard Law Review. (never published a single paper – unprecedented)
Won his first election by having everyone else thrown off of the ballot.
Has the financial backing of admitted domestic terrorists and the Chicago political machine, including also support and a big money from the Arab states. Here is a statement from Ahmed Yusuf of Hamas: “We don’t mind – actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election…”
Plays the race card repeatedly while saying he transcends racial politics. Sits in a racist, anti-American church for 20 years until political expediency requires his exit.
After his “bitter people” remark, starts calling people “folks” like he’s one of them.
Wow, I guess he IS just like us.
Go PUMAs !!!

Another gem from Jum Treacher, whose blog is becoming one of my favorite go-to places to get out of the depression to many other blogs generate…
No We Can’t

Jim Treacher, obviously.
Sorry about that.

What you were never intended to know

I’m going to let you in on a few secrets here, and this is not because I enjoy the gossip or the attention directed my way. I’m doing this because I doubt much of you know the true weaknesses of Obama. Another reason for my doing this is that I am lost faith in this campaign, and feel that this choice has been forced on many people in this country. Put simply, you are being manipulated. That was and is our job – to manipulate you (the electorate) and the media (we already had them months ago). Our goal is to create chaos with the other side, not hope. I’ve come to the realization (as the campaign already has) that if this comes to the issues, Barack Obama doesn’t have a chance. His only chance is to foster disorganization, chaos, despair, and a sense of inevitability among the Republicans. It has worked up until now. Joe the Plumber has put the focus on the issues again, and this scares us more than anything. Being in a position to know these things, I will rate what the Obama campaign already knows are their weak links from the most important on down.
1 – Hillary voters. Internal polling suggests that at best, we are taking 70-75% of these voters. Other estimates are as low as 60% in some areas – particularly Ohio and western PA. My biggest problem with this campaign’s strategy was the decision NOT to offer Hillary the VP slot. She was ready and able to take this on, and would have campaigned enthusiastically for it. This selection would have also brought virtually all of her supporters into the fold, and the Obama campaign knew it. Though I have no way of knowing this for certain, and I do admit that I am relying on internal gossip, Senator Obama actually went against the advice of his top advisors. They wanted him to choose her, but the only significant opposition to this within the campaign came from Barack and Michelle Obama. In short, he let personal feelings take precedence over what was the most logical thing to do. Biden, by the way, has been a disaster inside the campaign. Everyone cringes whenever he gives an interview, and he creates so many headaches as the campaign has to stay on their toes in order to disseminate information and spin whatever it was he was trying to say.
2 – Sarah Palin. Don’t believe what the media is telling you about how horrible a choice she was. Again, our internal polling suggest that though she has had a minimal impact on pulling disaffected Hillary Democrats to McCain, she has done wonders in mobilizing the base for McCain. Another thing – we were completely taken by surprise with her pick. In my capacity in the research department, I looked into the backgrounds of Leiberman, Romney, Pawlenty and Ridge, and prepared briefs. I don’t mind bragging that we had pretty good stuff on all of them. With Leiberman, the plan was to paint him as an erratic old-timer who didn’t have a clue as to what he was doing (pretty much a clone of McCain). In Romney, we had him pegged as an evil capitalist who cut jobs. Pawlenty was going to get the “Quayle treatment”, or more precisely: a pretty face, with no valid experience. Tom Ridge was going to be used to provide a direct link from McCain to Bush. As you can see, we were quite enamored of all of them. Then the unexpected happened – Sarah Palin. We had no clue as to how to handle her, and bungled it from the start. Though through our misinformation networks, we have successfully taken some of the shine off. But let there be no doubt. She remains a major obstacle. She has singlehanded solidified “soft” Republican support, mobilized the McCain ground game, and has even had some appeal to independents and Hillary voters. This is what our internal polling confirms.
3 – Obama’s radical connections. Standards operating procedure has been to cry “racism” whenever one of these has been brought up. We even have a detailed strategy ready to go should McCain ever bring Rev. Wright up. Though by themselves they are of minimal worth, taken together, Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Father Pfelger, and now, Rashid Khalili, are exactly what the campaign does not need. The more focus on them, the more this election becomes a referendum on Obama. The campaign strategy from the very beginning was to make this election a referendum on Bush. Strategists have been banging their head on how successfully McCain has distanced himself from Bush. This has worked, and right now the tide is in his favor. People are taking a new look at Barack Obama, and our experience when this happens tells us this is not good news at all. When they take a look at him, one or more of these names are bound to be brought up. McCain has wisely not harped on this in recent weeks and let voters decide for themselves. This was a trap we set for him, and he never fully took the bait. Senator Obama openly dared him to bring up Ayers. This was not due to machismo on the part of Obama, but actually due to campaign strategy. Though McCain’s reference to Ayers fell flat in the last debate, people in the Obama campaign were actually disappointed that he didn’t follow through on it more and getting into it. Our focus groups found this out: When McCain brings these connections up, voters are turned off to him. They’d rather take this into consideration themselves, and when this happens, our numbers begin to tank.
4 – The Bradley Effect. Don’t believe these polls for a second. I just went over our numbers and found that we have next to no chance in the following states: Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, Florida, New Hampshire and Nevada. Ohio leans heavily to McCain, but is too close to call it for him. Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico and Iowa are the true “toss up states”. The only two of these the campaign feels “confident” in are Iowa and New Mexico. The reason for such polling discrepancy is the Bradley Effect, and this is a subject of much discussion in the campaign. In general, we tend to take a -10 point percentage in allowing for this, and are not comfortable until the polls give us a spread well over this mark. This is why we are still campaigning in Virginia and Pennsylvania! This is why Ohio is such a desperate hope for us! What truly bothers this campaign is the fact that some pollsters get up to an 80% “refuse to respond” result. You can’t possibly include these into the polls. The truth is, people are afraid to let people know who they are voting for. The vast majority of these respondents are McCain supporters. Obama is the “hip” choice, and we all know it.
As part of my research duties, I scour right wing blogs and websites to get somewhat of a “feel” as to what is being talked about on the other side. Much of it is nonsense, but there are some exceptions which give the campaign jitters. A spirited campaign has been made to infiltrate many pro-Hillary sites and discredit them. A more disorganized, but genuine effort has also been made to sow doubts among the unapologetically right wing sites such as redstate.com. Don’t you guys get it? This has been the Obama campaign’s sole strategy from the very beginning! The only way he wins is over a dispirited, disorganized, and demobilized opposition. This is how it has been for all of his campaigns. What surprises me is that everyone has fallen for it. You may point to the polls as proof of the inevitability of all of this. If so, you have fallen for the oldest trick in the book. How did we skew these polls, you might ask? It all starts with the media “buzz” which has been generated over the campaign. Many stories are generated on the powerful Obama ground game, and how many new voters were registered. None of this happens by coincidence. It is all part of the poll-skewing process. This makes pollsters change their mixes to reflect these new voters and tilt the mix more towards Democratic voters. What is not mentioned or reported on is not the “under-reported cell phone users or young voters” we hear so much about. What is underreported is you.
I changed my somewhat positive opinion of this campaign during the unfair and sexist campaign against Sarah Palin. I will never agree with her on the issues and will probably never vote for her, but I am embarrassed of what has happened. I can’t ignore our own hand in all of this. What I do know is that I will not be voting for Obama this time around. Treat that as you will.

WHY ARE MY POSTS NOT BEING SHOWN?????????????/
November 2, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Any one hear how Obama’s grandmother is doing lately? I assumed by his immediate (or lack thereof) response to his ailing, “on her deathbed grandmother”, she may have passed away by now. Hmmmmm. He makes my stomach turn, can’t even stand the sight of him.
November 3, 2008 at 3:51 am
Vicki, it was my understanding that the only reason Obama went to Hawaii was to go to court to seal his birth cert. His grandmother had been out of the hospital for weeks at that point. The grandmothers brother stated she had had hip surgery but he didn’t know which hip. Seems to me his entire family can’t get their story straight.

I thought Oprah wasn’t “going to get political”, at least that’s what she used as an excuse for not haveing Gov. Palin on her show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kUQ-CNi360&feature=related
I never did like her (Oprah). Always thought she was a closet racist.
November 3, 2008 at 11:47 am
Yes, that’s why I posted the question about his beloved (throw her under the bus)granny? Nothing made sense. She is so critical she may not make it to election day, yet he waits 5 days before flying out to see her, without bringing his scary wife and the grandchildren children along. Soon after his return to mainland the Hawaii court seals his document. What has happened to our country that we can elect someone to hols the highest office in the world and not do any background check. UNBELIEVABLE. Welcome to Cuba if he gets elected. I really hope the news about him forcing higher energy costs to consumers and bankrupting the coal industry will wake some people up. That will be devastating to those states that rely on the coal industry.
I have made my list of shows I will never watch again. Though I never watch the View, and hardly ever watch Oprah. I have sent my letters to NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN, LA Times news. I hope they all tank. The best revenge is a McCain win. Get out there and drag everyone you know to the polls and vote McCain. SAVE THIS COUNTRY!

Please help to get this information posted: PUMA and Moderate democrats need to see this information immediately. In Obama’s own words, he posted to Daily KOS in 2005. Oh my god. These generalizations you have. Taking the Drudge route I see. Be sure and scrutinize their latest headline, decrying Obama for not swearing in a second time with a bible!! Be sure to rouse your ridiculous PUMA power and have them obsess over that for a while! I know you’re just going to delete my comment, but seriously you guys…the place would have been a mess no matter who got sworn in (Okay, if it was McCain, it would have been neater only because the numbers of attendees would be so amazingly small).
I will have an enjoyable time checking in with you to see what you are bitching and moaning about next time over these fantastic 8 (yes, you heard me, EIGHT) years ahead!
You can complain and moan all you want, about the speech, Michelle’s dress, and everything else trivial and unimportant under the sun- but the fact remains: We have an amazing President who is going to get this country back on track! He will do FAR more than McCain or Hillary ever could/would in office, and just the first day alone proves that. Time to get your head out of yr arse and come to realize he isn’t so bad after all!
