Lunch Scholars Video: Something to Remember When Teachers’ Unions Claim They Deserve More Pay

Posted at February 3, 2012 by Kevin DuJan // Featured Content, The Left, Unions

As I watched the video above, two thoughts immediately popped into my head:

1. Why do teachers’ unions claim they deserve more pay and endless benefits when this is the result of their “hard work” in the classroom?

2. I honestly can’t remember anyone this dumb in my Catholic high school back in Ohio when I was going to school in the mid-90s.

I do admit there’s a caveat to #2 in that there was a girl in my grade school — when I was in third or fourth grade — who could have starred in this video. Cleveland sits on America’s “North Coast” (according to the Ohio tourism board at least), on the shores of Lake Erie.  You know, one of the Great Lakes (whose mnemonic device was HOMES). This girl must have been at home, sick in bed, on the day in first grade when we learned this because she ultimately revealed she thought that body of water just north of the city was the ocean.  When pressed by the teacher to specify which ocean, the girl was surprised there was more than one, “since they were all connected”.  Finally, she mumbled “Indian Ocean”, in an Amy Sedaris as Jerri Blank sort of way.  I’m sure that’s because she was remotely aware that “Indiana” or “India-something” was nearby and she ran with that.  The nun at the chalk board got so red in the face hearing this I thought she was going to start screaming and slapping rulers across the tables — but instead she serenely floated out into the hallway, closing the oak and etched-glass door behind her, and LAUGHED AND LAUGHED AND LAUGHED.

But, I don’t think even the Indian-Ocean-Borders-Ohio-Girl would have flubbed as many basic questions as these public high school students did.

I can just hear the teachers’ union reps consoling the kids who thought there were 51 stars on the American flag (you know, for all 51 states): “It’s okay Brendan, you can try again. We are all winners here.  There are no right or wrong answers. You said there were 51 stars, but if you can think up an extra 6 stars you too can be president some day”.

At least this wasn’t filmed in the Chicago Public School system — where instead of just not answering the questions correctly the film crew would have been beaten senseless and their camera and microphone would have been stolen…while, of course, all the teachers were on some sort of union-mandated “break”.

Steve Jobs wanted to annihilate the teachers’ unions, keep schools open to 6pm, and abstain from publicly eating fancy foods in these austere times (but was overruled by the Obamas on that last one, because Barack had to have his cream pie)

Posted at October 21, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // The Left, Unions

I’m eager to read more details on what, exactly, is in the new Steve Jobs biography that’s set to drop in the next few weeks.

Apparently, it includes an account of Jobs really letting Barack Obama have it and telling him directly that Unions are destroying this country, preventing factories from opening in America, and that teachers’ unions in particular were responsible for depriving children of the educations they need to be able to remain competitive in the future.

My favorite part?

Where Jobs scolded the White House for serving overly indulgent, “too fancy” fare at a meeting he was to attend with Obama…but the Obamas overruled him and insisted on gorging themselves on shrimp and expensive cream pies while the rest of America endures privation and austerity in their daily lives.

I wonder how those on the Left are going to absorb all this if they ever bother to read the new book on Jobs.  Just about every Occupy Wall Street protestor seems to have an expensive Apple product of some kind on his or her person, whether it’s an Iphone, an Ipod, an Ipad, or a Mac laptop.

The Unions are providing muscle and support to the Occupoopers.

Steve Jobs wanted to annihilate the Unions.

Paradox, much?

Is Sharia creeping into Georgia schools?

Posted at September 27, 2011 by Bridget // Domestic Policy, Education, Hillbuzz, Resources - Islam, The Left, Unions, Unveiling Islam, White House Policy

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHICUcDWf24

I really find this story unbelievable.  I used to live in Marietta, Georgia…which is in Cobb County.  It’s a VERY RED county….in a solidly RED state so this just goes to show that public education today is run by the same type of people everywhere….liberals.

Why would middle schoolers need to be taught about polygamy?  Maybe a brief explanation about it when discussing different cultures but this material  presents it as the best thing since indoor plumbing and goes on to expound on the virtues of wearing a burqa (abuyahs).  It’s all presented as an innocent letter written by a 20 year old Saudi Arabian girl….

(an excerpt from the material):

“My name is Ahlima and I live in Saudi Arabia. … Perhaps two differences Westerners would notice are that women here do not drive cars and they wear abuyah. An abuyah is a loose-fitting black cloth that covers a woman from head to toe. I like wearing the abuyah since it is very comfortable, and I am protected from blowing sand. … I have seen pictures of women in the West and find their dress to be horribly immodest. … Women in the West do not have the protection of the Sharia as we do here. If our marriage has problems, my husband can take another wife rather than divorce me, and I would still be cared for. … I feel very fortunate that we have the Sharia”

Wait….did she say that if their marriage has problems then her husband can take another wife rather than divorce her?  What happened to “a girl can be anything she wants to be whether she’s married or not.” ?  Don’t parents teach their daughters that they shouldn’t need to rely on a man to support them?

WHERE ARE THE WOMEN’S LIBBERS?

WHERE’S THE ACLU SCREAMING ABOUT RELIGION IN SCHOOLS?

Ms. Ahlima neglects to point out that she will be beaten if she dares to speak to another man that’s not a relative and will probably be decapitated if she ever tries to leave her husband.

If I were a parent of a child in this school, I would be livid!  You can bet that my child would march back into school the next day and let this teacher know exactly what our family thinks about Sharia…in no uncertain terms.

I’m not saying that children shouldn’t learn about Middle Eastern culture but there are ways to present it that are more appropriate.  This material is not appropriate.  Sharia law should never be presented positively.  I think we should let the Georgia state superintendent of schools know how we feel about teaching children that polygamy is a good thing.  I think he should reconsider the curriculum because you can bet that Christianity isn’t presented this in depth or with a positive spin.

Here’s Mr. Barge’s contact info:

URGENT ACTION ITEM: How to find a list of union vs. non-union stores so people can choose which to support

Posted at September 5, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Blue Team - Research, Hillbuzz, The Left, Unions

Here is a fantastic Labor Day Project that could be of immense value to all of us.

Can you help find a list of union vs. non-union stores so that we can all choose where we want to spend our money?

I would shop exclusively at non-union stores in a heartbeat if I had a list of companies to evaluate.

This means not staying in union hotels when traveling, not buying groceries from union-stocked shelves, not going anywhere near labor unions whenever possible.

If the Labor Unions have declared war on Republicans and have now pledged to serve as Obama’s Goon Squad and Thug Army in 2012…why give the Unions any more of your hard earned money by shopping in stores that help fund the unions?

Why not support companies who have fought hard to keep Democrats’ thuggery out of their stores so that none of your money ever falls into the DNC’s hands?

Have you ever seen a list of companies that are non-union?

Is there a comprehensive listing of all grocery stores, hotel chains, restaurants, clothing stores, etc. that are non-union so people can start reevaluating where they shop every day to avoid union stores as much as possible?

HORCRUX ALERT: Labor Unions declare open war on Republicans

Posted at September 5, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Gold Team - Creativity, Hillbuzz, The Left, Unions

If you are not personally a Labor Union president or other high-ranking fat cat or crony, you have no vested interests in supporting unions.

Unions are the Democrats’ goon squads, in place to shake down local and state governments for as much money as they can funnel back into the DNC itself.  Without the labor unions, the Democrats would be bankrupt…and without Democrats, the Labor Union officials would not live lives of Riley.

Labor Unions have officially declared open war on Republicans, promising to be Obama’s Thug Army in 2012.

It’s long been said that if Labor Unions ever indelibly identified themselves with the Democrat Party — so that regular, average Americans who don’t pay much attention to politics perceive Labor Unions as the Democrats’ goon squad — that both the Labor Unions and Democrats would be doomed.

The Labor Unions are one of the horcruxes the Left depends on to maintain power.

The other entities that keep the Left in power are:

* The Race Industry…which exploits black people for use by Democrats whenever opponents need to be called RAAACISTS to shut down policy debate

* The Gaystapo…bullies in the gay community who shout HOMOPHOBE! and BIGOT! at conservatives and Christians, to make Republicans afraid of challenging the Left.

* The Cocktail Party GOP Establishment…which are the enablers who allow the Left to get away with everything it does; in return these Vichy Republicans live the high life, enjoying the cocktail party cucumber and mayonnaise sandwich perks of being the Washington Generals to the Left’s Globetrotters.

What are some ways YOU can help your friends and family see the Labor Unions for what they are and identify the other horcruxes the Left relies upon to stay in power?

SHOCKING: Illinois Policy Institute proves high taxes equal massive job losses

Posted at August 24, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Chicago Politics, Hillbuzz, Illinois Politics, The Left, Unions

Prepare yourselves for the shocking news you are about to hear, but the Illinois Policy Institute has concluded that…brace yourselves…high taxes equal massive job losses.

In other news, going out into the rain without an umbrella equals getting wet…eating the menus Michelle Obama prepares for the White House equals getting fat…and saying one thing but doing another makes you a hypocrite (see: Ben Cohen, and come to think of it, Michelle Obama).

The graph above really shows it all: when Illinois decided to ramp up its taxes yet again, employers started shedding jobs to compensate.

Democrats have bankrupted the “blue states” by ratcheting up taxes every year, to keep paying for more and more entitlement programs and bribes to unions, so these groups can continue to keep the Democrats in power.

The end result is that not only are state treasuries drained dry, but the businesses that existed in the state are forced out because of the high taxes that prohibit them from staying in business.

When Democrats destroy one state, like California, and things start to fall apart there, the most Leftist of their elite emigrate to neighboring states (like Colorado, Nevada, or Texas) and start trying to raise the taxes and increase entitlement programs there.

It’s a cycle that needs to be stopped, because it sure can’t carry on forever if we want to have a country left.

ACTION ITEM: Help Kim Simac defeat a Democrat in next Tuesday’s recall election

Posted at August 10, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Gold Team - Creativity, The Left, Unions

Kim Simac is a hockey mom.

She’s also a children’s book author and a former radio host.

Next Tuesday, in another of the Wisconsin recall elections, Kim’s running against one of the Democrats who fled the state in the reprehensible effort to keep allowing the public sector unions to drain Wisconsin tax payers dry.

Kim’s campaign needs people to make calls on her behalf, either in field offices or from their homes.

I don’t have a link yet to how to do this from your computer, but I expect to get one shortly.

In the meantime, here’s Kim’s campaign site.

Here’s the contact information for her campaign if you want to volunteer to help in this last push towards Tuesday.

Contact us at 715-420-0530 or email us at kimsimacforsenate@gmail.com

Remember:  the unions have already lost BIG — to the tune of $20 million that they burned in this failed effort to keep draining the Wisconsin treasury — and they’ll lose EVEN MORE if Kim picks up that Democrat seat.

It’s about much more than Wisconsin…it’s about inspiring legislatures in ALL STATES to take on the unions this way.

So whatever you could do to help Kim is very much something you can do to help counter-union efforts in YOUR STATE too!

Oh Happy Day! GOP keeps control of Senate in WI

Posted at August 10, 2011 by Bridget // Climate of Hate, Hillbuzz, Identity Politics, The Left, Unions

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvkzWoiNSDo

The Democrats needed 3 seats to win back control of the Wisconsin senate.  They got 2.

Here are the ones the Republicans lost….

Democratic state Rep. Jennifer Shilling of La Crosse, defeating incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Kapanke, who had been in the Senate since 2004. The other Republican ousted was first-term incumbent Sen. Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac, defeated by Democrat Jessica King, the former deputy mayor of Oshkosh.

The BIG race that the Dems. really wanted to win was the Darling (R)- Pasch(D) race.  Alberta Darling is a very outspoken supporter of Gov. Scott Walker so the unions were out in full force to try and oust her….they didn’t.

a teacher boohoos at the election results

There’s a recall election next week  for 2 Democrat Senators in Wisconsin.  That little weasel Bob Wirch and Jim Holperin.  We need to work on getting out the vote to oust these two.  Wouldn’t that make a big statement…”yeah, you won 2 seats back last week but we picked up 2 this week.”

I’m waiting for the inevitable legal challenge from the left.  The “they stole the race from us” routine.  I watched MSNBC last night (as much as I could stomach) and Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz and Rachel MadCow all were red in the face with excitement….claiming that this is the beginning of the 2012 elections and Wisconsin is a harbinger of things to come for the Republicans.

Well…things are looking good.

“The idea that a capitalist country can support a socialist welfare state is collapsing before our very eyes”

Posted at August 7, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Tea Party, The American Reistance, The Left, Unions

Please read every last word of Janet Daley’s new column in The Telegraph.

What’s happening all around us right now really is the collapse of the entitlements system that emerged after WWII and metastasized in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Democrat Party will fight this tooth and nail, because Democrats need those entitlements to keep paying various factions of the Democrat Party for their perpetual loyalty.

The Labor Unions in this country must be gutted, particularly the public unions that drain local budgets and funnel tax dollars straight back to the Democrat Party, which then uses these campaign contributions to keep hold of power and extend the grasp of Unions further.

It is a vicious cycle that’s ruining this country.

Daley writes about how entitlement programs have destroyed Europe.  While things happened differently here, we’re in the same place essentially.

The Cocktail Party GOP establishment has been terrified for decades of confronting Democrats head-on about all of this, since the Cocktail Party fears the bad press these battles will bring.  Democrats will savage everyone who tries to eliminate entitlement programs…or even better, dissolve entire Departments of the federal government to save money.

That’s what needs to be done.

Only people who are willing to fight THIS fight should even be considered as 2012 presidential candidates.

We have really come to this point.

It’s not going to be fun for any of us to deal with, but we now have no choice but to handle it.

GREAT MERCIFUL ZEUS! Audit reveals MASSIVE voter fraud in Illinois elections!

Posted at July 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Alinsky Methods, Blue Team - Research, Chicago Politics, Conservativism, Debate Prep, Featured Content, Great Merciful Zeus, Green Team - Fundraising, Illinois Politics, Resources - Conservativism, Standing Up To Bullies, The Left, Unions

Defend the Vote is an organization here in Illinois founded to empower citizens to protect the integrity of elections.

Shockingly, many Americans believe “somebody” is making sure the Left doesn’t tamper with elections results, using Big Labor, the Black Panthers, or other George Soros-funded goon squads to commit massive voter fraud. The unions in particular are engaged heavily in election tampering, since the unions need to elect Democrats to office so Democrats can ensure the unions bleed taxpayers for as much as possible in various union contracts.

Illinois is arguably the most corrupt state in the union when it comes to elections.

If Defend the Vote can audit the election process here in the belly of the curropt-o-beast, then perhaps we can be a test case for the rest of the nation to follow to TAKE BACK OUR ELECTIONS from the Leftist crooks who have gamed the system.

PLEASE read Defend the Vote’s latest press release detailing efforts to audit Illinois’ election process and hopefully you’ll get some ideas on how YOU can get a ball like this rolling in your own home state.
