Identity Politics
Obama’s biggest base of support comes from the Muslim community.
Obama has lost support from many of the people that helped elect him in 2008. When he took office in January of 2009, he had a 92% approval rating among blacks, 75% among Hispanics and a 58% among whites (according to Gallup). Since then, his rating has steadily declined thanks to an abysmal economy and sky-high unemployment rate…especially among the black community. He’s been a big disappointment among Latinos because he hasn’t shoved immigration reform down America’s throat (yet) and many of the young white ideologues who voted for him in ’08 have moved on to other things…mainly trying to find employment in this horrible Obama economy.
There is one group that is still very much in love with the chosen One. Muslims. Pew Research Center did a survey last month that showed that 76% of Muslim-Americans approve of Obama (only 15% approved of President Bush). Why the love affair? According to the survey, many Muslims see Obama as one of their own…1 in 10 believe that he’s a Muslim while 1/3 say they don’t know or they refused to answer. He’s also the president of BIG government which is just what the Muslim community is all about. In fact, they would like to see Obama push for an even BIGGER government. They are big fans of entitlement programs and have very little interest in such things as capitalism or freedom. I’m sure that throwing Israel under the bus repeatedly has helped boost his standing among Muslims as well.
So…Obama may very well continue to make history…
The first black President….the first Muslim President and…
The worst President in American history.
Toldja: Steven Chu proving to be the worst choice for Energy Secretary ever
My boyfriend Justin hates when I do this — and I readily admit it’s irritating — but I need to give the world a big TOLDJA SO, Nikke Finke-style, in regards to Energy Secretary Steven Chu…who today admits the Solyndra loans were his fault, because he didn’t know any better.
When the Obama Administration began, it was clear to me that Steven Chu was the worst choice made in the Cabinet. I realize that’s saying a lot, considering Tim Geithner’s record in the Treasury and the mess Janet Napolitano’s made at Homeland Security, but from Day One Steven Chu has had no clue in Hades what he’s doing.
I remember the first week in his new job, Chu was asked about the Energy Department’s role in setting energy prices and Chu had no idea what part as Secretary he played in this. He, in fact, couldn’t give a solid description of what, exactly, the Secretary of Energy did.
By all accounts, Steven Chu is a very nice man…and a Nobel Prize winner (though, considering the fact Obama himself has one of those, for not actually achieving anything, it’s kind of like winning a Grammy or a Daytime Emmy at this point)…but he’s never been a manager of anything and has no idea what to do in an executive position.
Give him a lab and a team of grad students, and I’m sure he could work wonders…or at the very least, invent Flubber.
Put him in a Cabinet position, and Steven Chu approves the Solyndra debacle.
It was obvious from the very beginning that something like this would happen, because Obama chose Chu for the position because he wanted to have a “historic and unprecedented first ever Asian Secretary of Energy”, who happened to have a Nobel Prize on his resume.
It’s no surprise that the “historic and unprecedented first ever black President”, who happens to have a Nobel Prize on his resume, set the stage for the Solyndra disaster by naming Chu to the Cabinet in the first place.
Putting people in executive decision making positions just because they have the right PC, aesthetic look never turns out well, does it?
QUESTION: Have you ever seen any studies charting the life success of people raised “bilingual”?
My anecdotal experience with people raised “bilingual” (speaking a foreign language at home but English at school and in the workplace) is that while trying to straddle two worlds, they never end up fitting in anywhere.
My good friend Joaquin’s grandparents were Mexican immigrants, and his parents still speak Spanish exclusively at home. Joaquin and his three brothers all have good jobs, but their writing is terrible. Joaquin also misses about 30% of pop culture jokes and historical references, so he doesn’t get subtle humor in anything he reads. If we’re watching a movie or TV show together, he’s forever asking me why something is funny. Largely, this is because of all the Spanish that was spoken in his home, which took away from the American culture he would have been exposed to if his family wasn’t in a bubble all to themselves in his formative years.
All of this is on my mind today because it’s not just Spanish-speakers who do this to themselves. The absolute most aggressive case of this self-isolation is a Polish family I know, who are terrific people, but I think they’re also incredibly foolish to have created “New Poland” in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.
Obama launches another boondoggle government initiative.
(isn’t the big guy in the middle of the back row the same guy who was Gabby Gifford’s staffer? The one who helped save her just after she was shot? If not, he sure looks like him.)
Just a few days ago, Obama signed an Executive Order titled ”Establishing a Coordinated Government-Wide Initiative to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in the Federal Workforce.” How wonderful! Another government program…because we really don’t have enough. This Executive Order will ”direct federal agencies to draw upon the talents of all parts of society and allow the federal government to tap diverse perspectives to overcome the nation’s greatest challenges.”
Here is an excerpt from this order….
Section 1. Policy. Our Nation derives strength from the diversity of its population and from its commitment to equal opportunity for all. We are at our best when we draw on the talents of all parts of our society, and our greatest accomplishments are achieved when diverse perspectives are brought to bear to overcome our greatest challenges.
A commitment to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion is critical for the Federal Government as an employer. By law, the Federal Government’s recruitment policies should “endeavor to achieve a work force from all segments of society.” (5 U.S.C. 2301(b)(1)). As the Nation’s largest employer, the Federal Government has a special obligation to lead by example. Attaining a diverse, qualified workforce is one of the cornerstones of the merit-based civil service.
To realize more fully the goal of using the talents of all segments of society, the Federal Government must continue to challenge itself to enhance its ability to recruit, hire, promote, and retain a more diverse workforce. Further, the Federal Government must create a culture that encourages collaboration, flexibility, and fairness to enable individuals to participate to their full potential.
Instead of spending his time trying to figure out how to get millions of Americans back to work, Obama is just creating new government agencies to further extend government regulations.
Don’t we already have policies that require “inclusion” and “diversity”? We already have another government agency to ensure this….it’s call the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
While our Government still has jobs to offer….private sector jobs are very few and far between.
I know how Obama can stimulate the economy and create thousands of new private sector jobs.
Leave office.
The Chick-fil-A haters
On any given day (except Sunday), the drive through line at a Chick-fil-A restaurant may be a mile long….at least it always seems to be in Aiken or North Augusta or Columbia ,South Carolina. I don’t mind waiting though because there’s nothing like a Chick-fil-A sandwich. Anyone who says that they hate Chick-fil-A has obviously not had one of their sandwiches, but there are those who truly do hate the restaurant chain and it’s not because of their food. Those haters are the liberals who are protesting the fact that Chick-fil-A’s founder, 93 year old Truett Cathy, is a gracious, generous, Christian southern gentleman with good old fashioned values. For instance, you will never find a Chick-fil-A open on a Sunday. His employees are carefully screened to make sure they are just the kind of person Mr. Cathy wants working for him (cheerful, friendly and courteous). Chick-fil-A always has the cream of the crop of employees in the fast food business. Mr. Cathy gives millions and millions of dollars to an employee college scholarship fund…his employees love him. He’s been honored by the Children’s Hunger Fund, and won the Horatio Alger award and the William E. Simon Prize for Philanthropic Leadership, for his charity.
Mr. Cathy also gives money to such college groups as the Campus Crusade for Christ and nothing gets a liberals panties in a wad faster than to say the “C” word….as in Christ. They are claiming that Mr. Cathy and the entire Chick-fil-A chain are anti-gay…simply because the founder is a Christian. When a Chick-fil-A opened in Chicago last year, protesters from the organization getequal.org began a campaign to “stop the hate” and distributed fliers that called the restaurant “Bigot-fil-A”.
This is hypocrisy…pure and simple. They are protesting against Mr. Cathy just because he is a Christian….not because he said or did anything against the gay community( because he has never said anything anti-gay). Mr. Cathy is a kind and loving man who welcomes anyone into his restaurants and he is very loved and respected…especially in the South. Why is it that if you are a Christian then you are automatically labelled as anti-gay? If you are a conservative, then you are anti-black, anti-Latino, anti-gay etc.
Are the American people going to see through all the smoke and mirrors of the left’s identity politics? Hopefully.
In the meantime…the liberals can keep on protesting Chick-fil-A because that means there’s less people in line at the drive-through at noon.
I LOVE Chick-fil-A

A new gym is set to open in Boston that caters to…..gang members.
There’s a new gym that is set to open soon in South Boston. Well…to be accurate, the InnerCity Gym had a grand opening date when the community found out who the members of the gym would be. This isn’t going to be your local Gold’s Gym or LA Fitness. This gym specifically caters to the ”most influential gang-involved youth in the Boston area,” including active and former gang members. The developer of the gym, InnerCity, decided to keep the community in the dark about their plans and sunk $30,000 in renovations into the building and signed a 3 year lease. Once residents in the community were tipped off about the plans, the protests began and the opening has been delayed. I wonder if any stimulus money went into this project. You know…one of those shovel ready jobs to help “reinvest in the community”. After-all, gang members need to stay in shape too.
I have one question though.
How exactly do you cater to “influential gang members”?
