Shushannah Walshe article on “The Daily Beast”: “Is Palin for Gay Rights?” Quick answer: You betcha.

Posted at February 11, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // 2012 Presidential Campaign, American Artemis, Being Gay, Boystown, Cocktail Party GOP, Conservativism, Enabling the Left, General Stupidity, Hall of Heroes, Hillbuzz, Sarah Palin

Here’s an article Sushannah Walshe ran on “The Daily Beast” today, asking the question “Is Palin for Gay Rights?”.

Walshe is the co-author of the “Sarah from Alaska” book, written with Scott Conroy, the very sweet (and all kinds of adorable) reporter I’ve mentioned before who is one of the few members of the mainstream media who honestly and truly does report on Governor Palin with fairness.  Conroy is an Obama supporter, but he’s professional enough to put aside his personal beliefs (and Kool-Aid) to accurately report on the Governor. After talking with Walshe this week as she prepared this article, I can now add her to the too-short list of professional journalists like this as well. She’s smart, does her homework, and has no agenda to push in her writing.  That was clear when reading “Sarah from Alaska”, and it’s clear in what she writes for The Daily Beast and other publications too.

When dealing with reporters, it’s like having a car full of clowns pull up on the curb, with a wide-array of fumblers and bumblers bursting forth in a rainbow of oddball colors, mangled balloon animals, and squirting flowers, only to find the driver of the now otherwise empty car sitting behind the wheel reading Voltaire and possibly working on some gorgeous calligraphy.  It’s so rare to find a member of the media who is not straight out of MSNBC’s central casting, that I almost don’t believe my eyes when I meet one. But Walshe is among a very small handful of actual, respectable, professionals in what’s unfortunately become a profession clogged to incompetence with agenda-driven hacks of the Chris Matthews, Maureen Dowd, Keith Olbermann, variety. Ie, clowns.  From clown town.  Gleefully engaging in drive-by-media coverage crammed together in those funny little cars, stinking worse than sardines.

I think Walshe asks a lot of great questions in her Daily Beast piece and I hope she gets some buzz going in both straight and gay circles as people try to answer them all.

As for the view from here in Boystown, I’ll repeat what I always say when asked if “Sarah Palin is for gay rights?”:  Governor Palin is for ALL rights for ALL people under our Constitution.  She has never, and will never, tolerate any discrimination targeted against an individual with the intent to take away Constitutional rights from that person, for whatever reason.  The Governor holds no prejudice against gays, which I appreciate on a personal level because I’ve met the Governor, with her knowing exactly who I was, and that I’m gay, and she didn’t do anything remotely villainous to me.  I’ve met a lot of politicians who don’t like gays, on a personal level, and who only do the bare minimum to tolerate us because — being Democrats, usually — these people know they are expected to maintain that minimal standard of tolerance…Governor Sarah Palin is not one of these people.

Similar to Dick Cheney, the Governor is actually a stronger supporter of gay rights than anyone on the Democrat side of the aisle for the simple fact that she could completely ignore us, and whatever happens to us, and nothing could ever be said about her since Republicans are not expected to champion us.  That’s the role Democrats have claimed they’ve staked out for themselves, but it’s Democrats like Obama who refuse to march in pride parades and who control not just the federal government but massive “blue states” like Illinois, at just about every political level, and yet do nothing to advance civil rights for gays when they control all the strings of elected office.

It’s always a risk for people like Cheney and Palin to follow their hearts and consistently apply the same “federal government should stay out of individual private lives” conservative logic towards benefitting gays that forms the basis of their political thought, because there is a tiny, vocal faction on the Right that does indeed indulge in anti-gay hate just for seemingly their own sick fun in doing that.  This faction is — it must always be noted — dwarfed to a microscopic level by the massive hate engine on the Left, which is fueled and fired at people like Cheney and Palin for the simple fact that they are conservatives.

That’s something the media largely ignores, because of course it hurts Democrats to accurately note they are the party of hate.

But, come to Boystown and hear some of the garbage that is directed at Governor Palin on a regular basis, because she’s a woman and she’s conservative, and listen to the lies that are told about her because someone’s boyfriend’s gym buddy’s neighbor’s hair stylist’s bartender’s dog walker’s extra-in-the-show-he’s-doing heard that Anderson Cooper, Kathy Griffin, or Tina Fey (age 60) said this or that which was supposedly, allegedly, probably proof Governor Palin is anti-gay.

It’s ridiculous.

I know Governor Palin is aware of this garbage, and knows full well the irrational hatred directed at her from places like Boystown…and yet the Governor continues to maintain that the federal government has no business limiting the rights and freedoms of gay citizens because they are gay, and the Governor continues to hold no blanket negative feelings toward gays despite all the venom directed against her from gay ranks.

Governor Palin is remarkable.

So is Sushannah Walshe for writing this piece and forcing people to honestly discuss the Governor’s treatment of and positions towards gays.

Please read this important article on the topic.

Purple Action Item: Alaskan Animal branding for Governor Palin

Posted at February 7, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, American Artemis, Hillbuzz, Polarize This!, Purple Team - Palin, Sarah Palin

I saw these little Alaskan animals in a toy shop in Andersonville…and immediately, as soon as I saw them, I thought of Governor Palin.

How do we saturate American pop culture for the next year with Alaskan animals?

The fun thing is that a tee shirt doesn’t even need to have “Palin” written on it to make people think of the Governor.

Anything with a collection of these animals on it will achieve that.

Let’s think outside the box about how we can promote Governor Palin in creative ways that are almost subliminal advertising for her.

Sarah Palin, Combat Veteran — by Stella Paul at American Thinker

Posted at January 21, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // 2012 Presidential Campaign, American Artemis, Cocktail Party GOP, Consistent Mistakes, Hillbuzz, Sarah Palin

Our American Artemis

Here’s an interesting article over at American Thinker by Stella Paul, one of our favorite Mamma Grizzlies.

Please head over there and read it, then come back here and chime in with your take.

This is an important meme we need to find creative ways to stress:  that people like Erik Erikson over at Redstate are wrong, when they say things like “Sarah Palin is unelectable because the media attacks her too much”.

In fact, Sarah Palin is electable precisely BECAUSE the media attacks her so much, every single day, and she takes every hit sent her way and sends it right back towards the Left, twice as hard.

Repeatedly, men like Erikson shout for women to drop out of political races because they are either “too polarizing” or “the media attacks them too much”.  The foolish assumption is that the media won’t attack WHOMEVER becomes the nominee.  This is a fact of life here in America:  if you have an (R) after your name, the media will try to eviscerate you in a general election (unless you are a Cocktail Party establishment Republican, and are basically a Democrat in all but name). If you are a conservative, you will be attacked by the media ruthlessly when competing with any Democrat for votes.  There is no way around that.

So, in a general election, it boils down to whether or not voters want someone who has proven she’s able to stand up to every imaginable attack launched against her…or a man who’s been treated with kid gloves through the nominating process, only to be whacked hard the instant the general election begins.

This is what the media wants to do to the 2012 Republican nominee…and why the media keeps writing love letters to Mittens Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mike Pence, John Thune, Mitch Daniels, Jon Huntsman, and other Cocktail Party establishment favorites…all boring, stale, straight-out-of-central-casting men whom people like Erikson at RedState claim are better choices than Governor Palin, for the sole reason that “the media is not as mean to them” as they are to Palin.

Well, Erikson’s an idiot if he indeed believes the love letters will keep flowing towards Romney and the rest the moment the general election begins.  No doubt, he and the entirety of Redstate would be SHOCKED and STUNNED when the media opens up both-barrels against whichever man it would succeed in pushing towards the Republican nomination, instead of Governor Palin.  None of those men mentioned above are prepared to handle the abuse flung at them, having been so coddled and pampered by the media for so long.

As Stella Paul notes in her essay at American Thinker, Governor Palin is a combat veteran in the media’s war against conservatism.  She is no shy and shrinking bystander.  She has been tried by fire for over two years now.  By 2012, she’ll have endured so much abuse at the hands of the media that it’s highly conceivable even the most partisan Leftist hacks will have absolutely no material left to fire at her.  She’ll be completely immune to further attacks in a general election, because there will be nothing left evil to say about her.

Unlike the Cocktail Party establishment favorites…for whom the media’s saving up the most damaging attacks for a potential general election.

QUESTION: How do we get more conservatives to realize this is in fact the game the media’s playing, whenever they write these love letters to potential male GOP nominees, in hopes of advancing their interests at the expense of Governor Palin’s?

Steampunk Sarah Palin

Posted at January 21, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // American Artemis, Ground Reports, Hillbuzz, Hillbuzz Graphics, Multimedia, Pacific West, Sarah Palin

Steampunk Sarah Palin

Dear HillBuzz,

Here is a link I stumbled across while doing my daily Sarah search.  http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/01/20/steampunk-palin-comic//
I’m no comics reader, but I know the power of the medium.  Some will see see this as yet one more blow to Palin’s dignity.  I beg to differ.  Steampunk in described in Wkikpedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk ,  as  a genre of fantasy science fiction that explores an alternate universe in which steam is still the main source of energy.  Many of the characters are part robotic.  In this story Sarah Palin is depicted on the cover by artist Brian Denham http://www.briandenham.com/steampunk-palin/ as a kind of steampunk wonder woman.
The interior comics are not as well drawn.  In the story, the world’s store of oil has been destroyed.   Sarah is leading the world in a war against a conglomerate that includes elements of nuclear power businesses and others which seeks to control the world.  Obama, who appears in the comic as Robama, cautions Sarah not to take these people on because they are dangerous.  Sarah tells him and a comic version of John Mc Cain to get out of the way as she heads up to Alaska to take on the bad guys.  When she is successful, she discovers that the Dr. Evil on the other side is none other than Al Gore who invented Global Warning as a scheme to get rich.
The image of Sarah presented, demonstrates that Sarah is already seen as the person with the ummm how to put it, courage to stand up to evil.  Obama is nice enough but weak and ineffectual and the denizens of the far left, as personified in the eco losers on the other side are seen as, well, greedy losers who are trying to rip us off.
This is a genuine artifact that shows the reasons why Sarah is held in such esteem by ordinary people.  She is a kind of fearless wonder woman who will take on the forces of evil and prevail on our behalf.  Hey, I’m with it.  Obama is not a bad guy, he’s just a robotic wimp.    Not exactly campaign piece, but not a bad sign.
You can find the comic for order here.

How a true leader addresses the nation in the wake of a national tragedy

Posted at January 12, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // 2012 Presidential Campaign, American Artemis, Hillbuzz, Hillbuzz TV, Multimedia, Sarah Palin

This is what a true leader says, and how she behaves, in the wake of a national tragedy

No scoring of political points.

No advancing pet projects.

No channeling Rahm Emanuel to “never let a good crisis go to waste”.

Just heartfelt addressing of the tragedy with an outpouring of grace and compassion towards all victims.

This is what America needs in a president.

Governor Palin: Helping Haiti This Christmas

Posted at December 22, 2010 by Kevin DuJan // American Artemis, Hillbuzz, Sarah Palin

Here’s the latest Facebook posting from Governor Palin, about her trip to Haiti with her daughter Bristol.

As bad as things are in Haiti, I also want to remind everyone that things are pretty bad in the Southside of Chicago too…and in Cleveland…and in Detroit…and in Pittsburgh.

So, we should all applaud any efforts to help those in Haiti…while simultaneously asking why, exactly, people live in conditions similar to Haiti in the major Democrat-controlled cities across this country.

Whatever’s keeping people in Haiti down, generation to generation, is also keeping people down in our own cities.

Corruption.

An entitlement mentality.

People who are told it’s easier to collect checks from the government than to become entrepreneurs and chart their own destiny.

Democrats don’t want anyone in the urban areas to improve themselves…because they are easier to control as voters when they are dependent on the government for everything. It’s very similar to what happens in countries like Haiti, or in South America or Africa, where corrupt government officials embezzle most of the funds pouring in from well-meaning private organizations or foreign aid (like the massive amounts of cash the United States gives to countries all over the world, only to see it fall into the hands of warlords).

In major urban areas, like Chicago, the warlords are people like Mayor Daley…who oversee their machines, which are designed to benefit those who support the machines and keep large segments of the population impoverished so they are easier for Democrats to control…and thus, make it easier for Democrats to retain power.

Before we can ever stop this cycle from repeating in foreign countries like Haiti, we need to find a way to stop it in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, New York, you name it.

Don’t tell me this isn’t a deliberate part of Democrats’ strategy for staying in power.
