American Artemis
TAKE ACTION: American Artemis Project, Round Two – creating images of Sarah Palin as a skilled and fearless huntress
The mental image I have of Governor Sarah Palin is as an American Artemis — a formidable and fearless huntress encamped in the pristine north, pursuing her prey with stealth and determination.
I’m asking all artists and creative types to help develop some campaign images of Governor Palin depicting her as such, surrounded by Alaskan animals that represent aspects of her presidential platform.
The idea is this:
* to show Governor Palin as an Artemis-like figure in the middle of the Alaskan woods, with Mount Denali or other mighty wonders in the background.
* The Governor has a bow raised, with arrow drawn, pointing towards Washington. Since guns are so easy for the Left to exploit emotionally and mock, I want the hunting images of the Governor to use the bow and arrow since the general public does not associate this with crime and violence, just hunting and skilled marksmanship.
* The picture used for the Governor’s head is the one above…a great shot of her full of vigor and spirit, looking forward, and in command
* I like the stance of the Artemis illustration in the center, but the Governor would need to be shown in modern gear that flatters her, and not a Grecian toga (which would look Halloween-y).
* I also like the animals around the Artemis in that shot.
It would be great to have a burst of Alaskan animals at the Governor’s command ready to head to Washington with her, as if she’s inspiring them to help the country too.
In her recent speeches, the Governor has been using a lot of “R” words like “Rebuild”, “Restore”, “Renew”, “Return”, “Replace”, etc.
I wonder if we could work up an Alaskan animal to match each of these themes:
Bald Eagle = Restore American pioneer spirit, since you can get more symbolic of the American spirit than the bald eagle
Grizzly Bear = Rebuild the economy, like a Mamma Grizzly ferociously providing for her cubs by taking on all threats to their food sources and survival. Don’t mess with that grizzly, and don’t get in the way of Governor Palin when she’s focused on getting the country back on track
Wolves = Return to a respect for federalism, which is reminiscent of a pack of wolves being comprised of strong, individual members who work together for the good of the pack, but are still separate entities the way our federal and state governments cooperate, but Washington should not control the state Governors like zombie puppets or slaves
Moose =Replace Obama and force the Left out of power, much like a big bull moose that comes into a territory and forces whatever was standing there out of its way
Caribou = Renew development of natural resources, just like the caribou are such a valuable and well-managed food resource in Alaska
Polar Bear = to combat the notion that the Governor is “too polarizing” to be President, which is a pejorative aimed at her by both the Left and the GOP Cocktail Party establishment
What other animals would you include in the above?
What other “R” words have you gleaned from Governor Palin’s recent speeches we could represent with animals from Alaska?
I do, of course, realize that public schools stopped teaching mythology a while ago, since the focus is just getting those poor children in these classrooms to pass ridiculous proficiency tests, so the kids no longer learn much history or have any sense of culture. I am aware that the concept of the Grecian Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, is alien to a lot of people as a result. But, not everything in a campaign has to cater to the lowest common denominator. Not everything can or should be a creepy, tri-colored, poster with a single word on it like “Hope” or “Change”.
I’d like to see Governor Palin’s supporters raise the bar of political art with something really interesting and creative that takes the words and themes of her speeches and brings them to life through artistic representations of Alaskan wildlife and scenery.
Maybe it’s not something the official campaign will ever promote…but it’s a good theme for the Governor’s supporters to run with if we want to connect with that portion of the population that enjoyed watching the Governor hunt on “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” and know just how connected she is to strategically bringing down prey…both to fill her freezer and feed her family, as well as to take down her opponents in the political wilderness as well.
ACTION ITEM: Sarah Palin as American Artemis imagery
When I think of Governor Palin, I picture her most as a huntress.
Strong, independent, resourceful, determined, brave, bold, and forever vigilant.
I see her set against a backdrop of pristine nature and frontier wonder — a champion who’ll protect these resources while harvesting their bounty.
She’s an American Artemis, called at a time of crisis to the Herculean labors required to set all that’s gone wrong with the Left’s “Lightbringer” and False Pharaoh at the helm.
I would love to create an image of Governor Palin that conjures this American Artemis spirit in one graphic — or use images of the Governor that depict these themes visually.
* The abundant natural wonders of Alaskan wildlife around her
* The fortitude and strength she exudes
* The way the Governor holds her ground and stares down her foes
Please chime in on this thread with your thoughts on this American Artemis theme. This is a brainstorming session, so I want your opinions creatively on what could really work as an image to run for her during the campaign. This is a subtle branding effort on our part to reveal all the things we know about the Governor that perhaps casual political observers miss.
The Left, and its agenda-driven media propagandists, have aggressively fostered an unflattering image of the Governor that we can indeed effectively counter by encapsulating her strengths into one solid line of character branding visuals.
I see the need, but lack the artistic and creative eye to make this reality.
Can you offer your input and ideas to percolate this American Artemis theme a little further?
Great poster promoting “Sarah Taking Stock” inspired by Woodstock posters — Waukee, Iowa Labor Day Weekend
A big thanks to Jen-for-Prez for this submission. It’s gorgeous work, and really invokes the vibe of the classic Woodstock poster.
“Sarah Taking Stock”, or “Sarahstock”, is gaining increasing energy as the grassroots name for Labor Day weekend and the big speech Governor Palin will deliver to the Tea Party in Waukee, Iowa September 3rd.
Jen gives you permission to print out her hard work and use it for decoration at the event, or for other personal purposes, but please respect her talent and time by not reproducing the above for commercial purposes.
Design your own take on the theme…the more the merrier…and tap into your creativity to create all sorts of terrific posters and banners to celebrate Governor Palin’s Labor Day speech!
Are you planning on being in Des Moines, Iowa on September 3rd to witness history being made?
Yesterday, I guest-hosted on the radio with Megan Fox, who thinks that Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s place in the nascent Republican presidential race means that Govnernor Sarah Palin won’t be running for president in 2012.
I think Governor Palin is already running for president, and that Congresswoman Bachmann is one of her stalking horses in the race (I’d also love to see a vote of no confidence in John Boehner, with Bachmann staging a tea-steeped revolt in Congress and emerging triumphantly as the new Speaker of the House).
Think about this: for all the attacks made on Governor Palin trying to convince Americans she’s some sort of extremist, Congresswoman Bachmann’s clearly more to the right in policy and tone. Bachmann’s also more combatative (which is not a bad thing, believe me) and doesn’t have quite the same savvy in connecting with people on a large scale. Bachmann inspires supporters, while Palin fires up thousands to wait hours in the cold to see her. Everything that Bachmann is, Palin is more of, in all the right ways.
Have seen “Atlas Shrugged” three times in theaters now…and love it more each time

I don’t want to write a review of “Atlas Shrugged”, the film or the book, until more people have seen them…and until I have reread the full book again myself.
But I wanted to tell you that the first filmed production of Ayn Rand’s work is so interesting and inspiring I have now seen it three times, with three different sets of people, and every time the audience cheers out loud as Dagny Taggart dresses down the communists, fools, union goons, and corruptocrats plaguing her drive to successfully run her family’s business.
There are two scenes in particular you will love, I hope, as much as I do: when Dagny eviscerates a union goon and when she puts her idiot, Obama voter brother in his place.
The union goon walks into Dagny’s office and she promptly tells him to get out. He gins up the usual union threats against a business, and Dagny tells him to shut up and lets the thug know she will not be bullied and that this will not be business as usual appeasing the unions. Dagny tells the union to, essentially, commit anatomically-impossible acts upon itself…while the audience HUNGERS for corporate executives nationwide to “Go Rogue” like Dagny and tell the unions plaguing them to do the same.
And then there is how Dagny handles her idiot brother…the sort of “big thinker” who would have bought into all of Obama’s hopeychangey hooey and who still pulls the Democrat lever in elections without realizing the ultimate disastrous personal and economic consequences of those decisions. Dagny walks in on the fool playing with a model train set in his office, during the middle of the day, when he should be working. She unplugs his toy, then berates his stupidity and tells him what she is going to do to fix his mistakes.
THIS is how Americans coast to coast need to “Go Rogue” when dealing with both the Left and the Cocktail Party GOP establishment.
Unplug these fools from their sources of power and influence.
Take away their toys and tools.
Demand actual grown-up solutions to the nation’s problems, administered by grown-ups, with hard work and determined thought involved.
I left the theater every time I have seen “Atlas Shrugged” with two things in mind:
(1) working towards taking away the Left’s, the unions’, and the Cocktail Party GOP establishment’s stranglehold on this country and…
(2) making more people see it is time to stand up and become Dagny Taggarts in their own way.
The way people like Governor Sarah Palin and others do.
It isn’t easy. It takes guts. We certainly know what we are up against.
But the country we love is worth it.
QUESTION: Have you seen the movie yet? Did it inspire you?
ACTION: How do we foster a nationwide Resistance to the Left and its allies by encouraging an uprising of millions of Dagny Taggarts coast to coast?
What think you?
She just wants to be Sarah Palin.
Ok…so…she does look like Governor Palin but we all know that the Governor was not at CPAC. This Sarah Palin impersonator stunned crowds at the CPAC convention today in Washington and fooled a lot of people. Apparently, she even gave interviews. I know it probably wasn’t done maliciously but something about this really gets my hackles up. It’s one thing if the liberal media (redundancy alert) mocks Governor Palin….we expect that… but someone at CPAC? Cocktail Party hit job? I’m not saying this lady was mocking the Governor (because I don’t really know) but this is just wrong.
There is only ONE Sarah Palin.
Period.
Happy 47th Birthday to Our 45th President: Sarah Palin
It’s Governor Palin’s 47th Birthday today.
Wherever she is, I hope she’s enjoying herself, resting up, and spending time with her family.
Americans coast to coast are asking her to run for President next year.
Please pray today that she answers that call.
In addition to sending her birthday greetings, what creative things can you think of that we can all do to make sure the Governor knows how much we all appreciate her…and how much we want her to make the sacrifices it’s going to take to win the White House and start work on putting this country back on the right track.
It’s going to be a lot of hard work on her part, and it’s unfair to ask anyone to subject her family to what we know the Media is going to do to the Palins…but this is honestly the Governor’s moment in history…she is very much being called to duty for our country.
Those of us who have been following her career know it’s always been leading towards a presidential bid in 2012.
And many great things after that.
I don’t know what her birthday wish today is, but I do know I’m not alone in wishing her the best, and promising to do everything I can to make her our 45th president.
