Prayer Changes Things
Recently Kevin asked the HillBuzz family for prayers for Baby Astor, Justin’s niece, and her mother, Darcy. Astor was born early in an emergency c-section. She has had some life-threatening issues with her lungs and heart due to her early arrival. I was pleased, but not at all surprised, by the outpouring of love and prayer on Astor’s behalf. I also noticed in the comments section occasional requests for prayers, as well as stories of answered prayers to encourage others.
This got me thinking: what if we were to become more organized in our prayer for our nation, our global community, and one another personally? There is a scripture that says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” There seems to be a contingent of prayer warriors in this group who excel in this area. How might God intervene when he hears so many of us beseeching Him earnestly?
Starting this week we will be collecting prayer requests to share with readers. If you post a request in the comments section, the following week we can include it in the post, along with any updates you may wish to share. I truly believe this is one of the most effective action items in which those who choose to do so can participate. After all, we’re pleading our case to the Highest Source available.
Just a few considerations for posting:
* Try to state your requests in a positive manner. For example, rather than asking for intervention to “get so-and-so out of an elected office” perhaps we can ask for the best person to occupy that office.
* If you are requesting prayer on someone else’s behalf, a courtesy call to them might be appropriate. Sometimes we want the help of others, and sometimes we want our trials to remain private. Also, it might be a good idea to keep the identity of others confidential. Identifying an individual’s need without necessarily including their names (unless they ask for it be included) may be all we need.
* Don’t worry about any request being too general, or too trivial. It’s written that the very hairs of our heads are numbered. If God has that kind of detailed knowledge of and interest in us, we can bring anything to Him.
Please keep us updated of any progress when news is available. We love to hear how you and your loved ones are doing. It helps make our prayers more specific, too.
To start out this facet of HB’s action agenda, here are some areas for which we can be praying:
* Baby Astor’s continued positive progress and healing. Support and peace of mind for Darcy and her family during this trying time.
* That the American people wake up to what is happening in our country as it slides precariously toward socialism and (heaven forbid) despotism. That we as a nation once again embrace the values upon which this nation was founded.
* That the election process identifies a candidate who truly has a servant’s heart and has the good of the American people as his/her priority. That this person leads our countrymen back to our noblest selves so that we can address the needs of the nation and heal.
Please add to the list! Here we go . . .
Peek behind the (Laugh)AttackWatch curtain and who do you find?
I had a lot of fun yesterday checking in periodically with the train wreck that is the twitter account for AttackWatch. It has been completely co-opted by the right as a tool of derision against Obama and his flunkies, resulting in humor that rivals the best of smart sit-coms like my favorites, “Arrested Development,” or “Modern Family.”
It’s an interesting exercise to venture over to AttackWatch’s website to see just what they have to say. When I visited yesterday I saw three articles on the news feed respectively slamming Glenn Beck, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry. Perusing the articles, I noticed that two of the three sources cited had a fascinating similarity: they can be quickly linked to George Soros vehicles.
RE: Glenn Beck and his “misrepresentation” of Obama’s support for Israel – the source cited is Media Matters! Media Matters points to interviews with Ehud Barak, President Peres’ comments at a ceremony accepting the U.S. Ambassador’s credentials, a terse statement from Secretary Gates in a sea of testimony from a hearing of the Defense Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, and President Obama’s remarks at an address to AIPAC as proof positive of Obama’s support for Israel. Guess what’s missing? Obama’s statement in May 2011 declaring that Israel should return to indefensible 1967 borders as well as Netanyahu’s public spanking of Obama in a press conference the following day.
And golly gee, didn’t the illustrious Mr. Soros give one million dollars to Media Matters in October 2010? In addition, Media Matters has a very close relationship with the Center for American Progress (another Soros backed organization) and has received further funding from Democracy Alliance (coincidentally also supported in part by George Soros).
RE: Mitt Romney’s “inaccuracy” and irresponsibly blaming Obama for job losses – the source cited is Think Progress! They use Romney’s packet outlining his plans to show how he has falsely accused the One of job losses that should be attributed to Bush. They cite a graph on page 16 of Romney’s packet which shows losses from 2007-2009. However, they dismiss this excerpt from page 15 of the same document: “Job creation and full employment require economic growth. From 1997 to 2000, with GDP growth averaging 4.5 percent annually, the average annual unemployment rate was 4.4 percent. In contrast, from 2009 to 2011, with quarterly GDP growth averaging only 1.2 percent, the average monthly unemployment rate was 9.4 percent. During this period, GDP growth peaked at 3.9 percent for a single quarter before rapidly falling back down to an anemic 0.4 percent and then 1.0 percent in the first and second quarters of 2011, respectively.Such poor growth is particularly striking in the wake of a recession.” How convenient!
BTW, Think Progress is also substantially funded by George Soros.
Like so many other Obama programs, policies, and proposals, one needs only to scratch the surface to find the groundwork has been laid by SorosMonkeys at the bidding of their repulsive Master. AttackWatch is but one of these. And while we can all have a good laugh at what blithering incompetents the Man Who Would be God has enlisted for his evil machinations, let us never forget what his ultimate plans are, and boldly continue to work against them. Let’s make sure we get to have the last laugh!
Ground Report: Sarah Palin in Korea for World Knowledge Forum
Dear HillBuzz,
I am currently visiting family in Seoul, South Korea. While we were out today I saw an ad for the 12th World Knowledge Forum, with Sarah Palin’s picture very prominently displayed near where we were exiting the subway on our way to an attraction. I took some pictures while we were waiting and did some web based research back at the apartment. According to the World Knowledge Forum’s website, it is “Asia’s prestigious business forum” and serves “as the knowledge Olympics.” Based on the schedule, it looks like Governor Palin will be giving an hour long speech on October 11 (look under “Presentations”). To check out her bio on site, you will need to look under “S” for “Sarah” rather than “P” for Palin (all speakers appear in alphabetical order by their first name).
Hawaii Ground Report: What will Sarah Palin do about debate bias?
Dear HillBuzz,
Here in Hawaii, I was wondering this morning what Palin will do about the debates since they are so biased. I figured she’d just throw the bias back in their faces. Soon after this thought I read Breitbart:
http://biggovernment.com/abreitbart/2011/09/08/the-f-troop-how-the-gop-candidates-failed-simply-by-showing-up-at-msnbcpolitico-debate/
I agree with him that by participating, the GOP gives the media respect they do not deserve. Palin understands also that bringing down the Democrat Media Complex is as important as destroying the Cocktail Party GOP.
We know it’ll be an unconventional campaign, so maybe no debates will be part of it. Of course, she WILL debate Barry. Somebody could make a lot of money charging admission to those. I’m afraid the West/Biden debate will have to follow the mercy rule!
What do people think?

Musings of a conservative mom of a gay conservative
Let’s be honest, no matter how open minded and accepting one is – finding out that my son is gay was not welcome news. My oldest son had just gotten married, we took a ‘honeymoon’ with the two other boys and towards the end, my youngest son, 16 at the time came out to us as gay.
First reaction was shock, disbelief and of course denial. Of course first thing we did was give him a big hug and tell him we love him. Then began the long road to adjustment, an immediate question was – what about your strong Jewish and conservative beliefs? They won’t change he said.
Thankfully this was his senior year of high school, he was home, we could adapt together. He had already come to grips with his sexuality – but no matter how much I love my child – that is a seismic shift is my desires and expectations for his future.
Thank a Veteran
America owes our Military Veterans an eternal debt of gratitude. Operation Gratitude has a program dedicated to showing our veterans of past wars and conflicts that we have never forgotten them and we remain grateful for their service. This is a program within Operation Gratitude that is separate from our care package for the troops program. The “Thank a Veteran” program sends letters to veterans, no packages. Letters come from grateful Americans and are sent directly, via snail mail, to a deserving veteran.
Here is what you can do:
A. Send us the name and Address of a Veteran. If you know a Veteran who would like to receive a Letter of Gratitude (or if you would like one sent to him/her), please provide the name of the Veteran, regular mailing address (we want them to receive the letter in their physical mailbox at home), and specify in which war(s) they served. Email the information to Penny at: OpGratVolunteer@yahoo.com
B. Write a Letter of Gratitude to a Veteran
. It is long overdue, but never too late. Write a Letter of Gratitude to a Veteran thanking him or her for all they did for our country.
For information about how to write a veteran or a soldier currently serving, and where to send them, please visit:
http://www.operationgratitude.com/letters-to-heroes/
PLEASE NOTE THAT LETTERS TO VETERANS ARE DIFFERENT FROM LETTERS TO THE TROOPS, and are sent to a different place than letters to the troops are sent.
Thank you for your support of all our men and women of the U.S. Military –past and present!
Happy Birthday, Mr. Soros! (Or is it Mr. Schwartz — or Mr. Kiss?)
H/T SodaHead for the historically accurate photo above
This Friday George Soros will be celebrating his 81st birthday. Soros, a man of incredible wealth and influence intrigues me. How does someone of this magnitude become who he is? What were his early influences? What shaped his world view? Let’s find out . . .
George Schwartz was born in Budapest, Hungary to Tivadar and Erzabet Schwartz. The family changed their last name to Soros in 1936 to avoid growing anti-semitism. Tivadar was a proponent of Esperanto — an easy to learn, politically neutral language. “Soros” means “will soar” in Esperanto.
In 1944 the Nazis occupied Budapest. George was 13. His father, having survived as a prisoner of war in WW1, could see what the future held for Jews and planned for his family’s survival by evading Nazi detection. He obtained false identities for his four family members and arranged for them to be separated. George now became known as Sandor Kiss and lived with an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture, Baumbach, who was paid to hide him.
In the period shortly before the family separated George was conscripted to play a role in rounding up Jews in Budapest. He worked as a courier for the Jewish Council, along with other Jewish children, delivering notices informing Jews that they were being registered for deportation. While under Baumbach’s care George accompanied him on assignment to take inventory of an affluent Jewish man’s estate who fled to Lisbon. He witnessed horrific acts towards Jews in Budapest, including seeing bodies hanging from lampposts with notes attached threatening Jews who may be hiding. By 1945, after the Soviets defeated the Nazis in Hungary, the Soros family reunited.
Of this time Soros has said: “It was actually probably the happiest year of my life, that year of German occupation. For me, it was a very positive experience. It’s a strange thing because you see incredible suffering around you and the fact you are in considerable danger yourself. But you’re 14 years old and you don’t believe that it can actually touch you. You have a belief in yourself. You have a belief in your father. It’s a very happy-making exhilarating experience.” He has also been quoted as saying that he has “carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble.”
These events are foundational to understand the George Soros of today. They provide the motivation for his behavior and philosophy. We will explore this more in future installments.
By the way, do you know which contemporary of Soros didn’t celebrate her 82nd birthday this year? Anne Frank. A week before George turned 14 Anne’s family was betrayed and captured by the Gestapo in Amsterdam.
Two young Jews, hiding in Nazi occupied Europe, who eventually influenced the world.
“Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness.” – Anne Frank
“I admit that I have always harbored an exaggerated view of self-importance―to put it bluntly, I fancied myself as some kind of god or an economic reformer like Keynes or, even better, a scientist like Einstein.” – George Soros
