BREAKING NEWS: Quadaffi may have been killed in Tripoli
Things are sketchy, but here and there we’re seeing news come in that Quadaffi may have been killed in Tripoli.
As much of a monster as the man was, if true this is a huge complication for matters in the Middle East.
Lybia will now be ruled by an Islamic regime…a little Iran…that will dedicate itself to destroying Israel and pushing for a global caliphate to conquer all before it.
The exact same spirit is at work in Egypt, too.
I’m sure we’ll see Leftists in our media cheering that Quadaffi is dead, without really thinking about what that means for anything long term.
Update this story in the thread below if you are following things. It might take many more hours before the news networks start officially calling Quadaffi dead, but if reports are true that the Islamists have broken through Tripoli’s last defenses, have captured Quadaffi’s sons, and his preatorian guard has abandoned him, then there’s no escape for Quadaffi now (no matter how you want to spell his name).

I'm thinking the 'rebels' will string Qaddafi up ala Ceausescu, and set about torturing his loyalists. Not exactly Responsibility to Protect.
As Colin Powell said, it's the Pottery Barn rule: you break it, you own it. Will the leftists agree that we have an obligation to replace Qadaffi? Without killing a single member of any violent faction, of course.
The lefties aren't about fixing anything, just changing them for the sake of it, because they think they can
Where did you see that? I'm not getting anything recent. Some stories from a few weeks about about his son.
See Drudge.
And I’m following the British news feeds.

Tweets from news organizations and eyewitnesses have been arriving at an accelerating pace this afternoon, and the latest Twitter posts from inside Tripoli say that rebels are getting close to taking over the capital city of Libya. An unconfirmed rumor that Gaddafi was killed has been retracted. (an aside, why is something on Twitter a 'tweet' and not a 'twit?'

There are reports that two of Qadaffi's sons were arrested and are being questioned. Kevin, I share your well-stated concerns about Israel's safety in view of developments in Libya and throughout the ME. The Muslim Brotherhood (aka extremist Islam), with BO's seal of approval, appears to be taking over the ME, country by country, which started with Egypt, and yet our lazy, propaganda-swallowing/regurgitating media seems intent on 'celebrating' the impending chaos in each of these countries as though there is some real hope of 'democracy' being implemented. How very naive.
Gadhafi is still alive. Saif al-Islam who has an arrest warrant for war crimes is not in custody. Mohammed the other son has escaped from house arrest.
It is more than likely that Gadhafi is now either in Sirte or in Sabha where he has his last stronghold. His Tripoli compound has been breeched, and his golf cart has been liberated.
The announcement of the arrest of Saif was done deliberately. It was propaganda meant to encourage some of those fighting for the regime to give up and change sides. It worked.
The whole thing is a long way from being over.
I disagree with those who are giving too much power to Muslim Brotherhood in Libya. The majority are Sufi. The Muslim Brotherhood is Shia and the Salafists are Sunni. Nothing is certain with regard to the influence of either the MB or the Salafists.
Also, Gadhafi was an enemy of Israel, and we will just have to wait and see if the new regime is going to be neutral or remain an enemy of Israel. Nothing will change on that score in the immediate future.
