Brace yourselves for this, because we can hardly believe it ourselves, but we really miss having Dick Cheney around

Nobody knows what Dick Cheney did all day — but whatever it was, it was certainly important. Whenever the government said the Vice President was in a secure, undisclosed location, we pictured Cheney racing through the tunnels under the Greenbrier resort, through the supposedly decommissioned fallout shelter and secret command center entombed beneathe that isolated swath of West Virginia, plotting and scheming and keeping terrorists awake at night, wondering when Darth Cheney would strike and how many of them would live to tell their tales the next day.
Dick Cheney, as Vice President, was the twisted, relentless, ruthless love child Batman and the Penguin biologically could never have. He may even be a robot sent from the future to keep us all from harm. He was, without question, the exact Vice President needed at just the right moment in history. Who knows what he was up to, but we’re certain, 100%, that it helped keep this nation safe for the last eight years.
It’s probably what he’s still working on now, from somewhere secure and undisclosed as you read this.
And Cheney never needed to be babysat. Whenever he said strange things on television, there was clearly an alternative motive at work. Most of his oddball appearances on the Sunday morning shows were so ballsy that even though they often made steam shoot out of our ears at the time, we laughed at how utterly brazen and in your face they were. Cheney was the master of the F-U, in a way we doubt we’ll ever see in politics again. When one reporter, in March of last year, told Cheney that 3/5 of Americans thought the Iraq War wasn’t worth it, Cheney said, “So?”.
Great Merciful Zeus, that’s ballsy. Refreshingly so.
Joe Biden would have said something memorably ridiculous in response to the same question, but more likely than not he would have made up crazy nonsensical things, and contradicted himself as he stumbled and rambled his way to commercial.
We don’t know what Joe Biden does all day, but the amount of breakfasts he is required to have with Hillary Clinton each month seem to indicate Biden needs to be babysat by grown-ups. On days Clinton’s not watching him, we’re not sure who has that duty, but “breakfast with the Vice President” sure seems like “it’s your turn to keep him from embarrassing himself for part of the day”.
And for the love of Betsy Ross, keep that man away from the ice cream. He gets after it like Rahm Emanuel after a strapping, new Secret Service agent on one of their movie dates.
So, Mr. Cheney, in whatever undisclosed location you are in right now, just know that a bunch of Hillary Democrats here in Boystown who hated your guts for years now realize what remarkable service you gave this country when we needed your gruff Burgess Meredith meets Michael Keaton self. You were just the quiet badass genius strategist we needed, and we’re sure you pulled no punches and coddled no evil-doer on your watch. You also, we must remind the liberals of the LGBTQ community, were FAR MORE SUPPORTIVE of LGBTQ rights than any Vice President before you, Republican OR Democrat, and you have personally shown more willingness to advance our causes than your successor ever has — and you did this without a single word of thanks from ANYONE, including us. You are a decent man who won’t eat everyone else’s ice cream, because you’ve got more than enough of your own tucked away in whatever secret room you spent almost eight years keeping us all alive with whatever it was you were entrusted with.
Some day, we hope to have the honor of shaking your hand and thanking you in person, Mr. Cheney. Because you deserve not just our thanks, as people who FINALLY appreciate your efforts, but the thanks of the whole nation.
Go ahead and freak out in comments that we’ve gone and done it again, and are thanking the Bush Administration for keeping us safe all those years, but we just have a sinking feeling Hope, Change, and Joe Biden are setting us up for something awful before the summer’s out…and that very soon more than just those of us at Buzzquarters are going to realize what a great Vice President we had in Dick Cheney.
He may be a crotchety, gruff, surly, wiseass who shoots people in the face — but he was OUR crotchety, gruff, surly, friend’s-face-shooting wiseass…with great emphasis on the WISE part.
Unlike some people, whose emphasis rests ELSEWHERE.

Fabulous! What a great essay to start my day!
Thanks Hillbuzz!
yeah. Cheney was made to be evil by the media. And it is refreshing to see some Democrats say, the media loved Obama and lied to make him great. and they did the opposit to Cheney.
Cheney had America’s best interests at heart.
and We must thank him for no terrorist attack since 9/11
All Polititian lie. But Cheney takes the art of lying to a whole new twisted, paranoid level. He surely never had MY best interests at heart.
Another winner Boyz. You restore my faith everyday…and make me tear up.
Maybe that’s one reason Biden is VP, by contrast Cheney is a genius.
I always liked the sound of his voice, an unusual timbre.
By God, you guys finally got it! Excellent tribute. (The man’s wife is amazing, too.) Before the next four years are relegated to the dustbin of history, this nation will be wishing Dick Cheney were still running things. Biden’s anti-assassination insurance for BO and Pelousy, nothing else.
CA Granny says:
“Biden’s anti-assassination insurance for BO and Pelousy, nothing else.”
Astute assessment!
Reminds me of a record album (careful, I do remember those) of Cheech and Chong regarding a dirty movie theater skit.
“Hey Margaret, look! Looks like your grandfather eating icecream.”
I am already going to hell, so don’t start.
Yo ho, Rinny!
I look at this administration and I wonder why I complained during the Bush years. I am sad to say things are definitely worse. The head of DHS..Janet The Russian Washerwoman Makes Brownie from FEMA look intelligent..and the media was all over him.
I feel less secure…I feel like no one can be trusted…I really pay little attention to any of them. We can only hope that our votes in four years will mean something.
Touche Betty!
sad but true. I think Bush did mess up, but Obama is looking at what Bush messed up and messing up the problem more so.
Like education, the federal Government department doubled in size under Bush, more money and more powers to teachers unions. When power should have gone back to the States local councils and parents of children at schools. Obama wants more Federal Government on education and more spending. Palin believes reform is better than spending as ”more for less” is better than ”less for more” we see that in her record.
We have the Debt issue, Bush was stupid to borrow and spend too much int he good years, Obama is being far worse by spending even more when borrowing is dangerous for the economy.
Bush did not secure the borders. Obama wants to open them up wider than ever.
Bill Clinton was a success, as he stopped listening to silly Liberals in congress worked with moderate Democrats and Republicans and made the best social security reforms ever. Obama should take a leaf out of Bills book,
Ditto Betty!….Great Essay Guys!…You Rock!
Absolutely agree! I sure hope Bush and Cheney know how grateful Americans are.
I don’t see how they could know that. 100 days into the new administration and they are still being blamed for a long list of BS.
Absolutely!
But you know that.
They were grown ups
i. LOVE. hillbuzz. love you guys. i’m grateful for this website, and the amazing job you do in keeping us up to date with just the right mix of facts and snark.
i pray everyday for your peace and health, that you may be able to continue your fight against the dark side and keep ice cream available to all!
Nice write up of an outstanding public servant. Always liked him, and was always a bit frightened of him… in a good way.
You mention Cheney’s support for G and L rights, which is pretty cool. You have any articles you’d recommend reading regarding that support? Would love to have that ammunition the next time I tangle with an obidiot.
Contrast Cheney with Joe “Ch Ch Ch Chia” Biden, the drooling dope who gave us this stirring quote:
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed- he said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’”
Stock market crash happened in 1929. When Hoover- NOT FDR – was president, and before TV was available to the public.
Yep, we sure dodged a bullet – good thing we don’t have that stoopit snowbilly Palin as our VP.
When he isn’t slurping up his breakfast gruel while Hills tells him what to think, I strongly suspect Biden is roaming the naval observatory grounds in a tattered bathrobe, bunny slippers, and padded football helmet- waving around imaginary straight A law school transcripts, muttering snatches of plagiarized Neal Kinnock speeches, and dreaming of ice cream cones.
And this mope is a swine flu fatality away from the big chair in the oval office. Ugh.
Cheney’s daughter is gay and he has said he fully supports her.
that is as a loving father..
Should we applaud him for that? It’s his daughter.
In this political climate, you betcha!
I know of a lot of gay people whose parents disowned them over it. I would hope that the majority of parents were accepting, as Cheney is.
However, Cheney was openly supportive of her. He didn’t really try to hide behind the shield of “personal life” with regard to his daughter’s sexuality.
I needed a laugh with all the swine flu is going to get us stuff.
Didn’t Zero just get back from Mexico!?
Yes he did, and the man who showed him around a anthropological museum died the next day.
According to news updates, the curator died of a heart attack – not flu as reported in the British press – a week after he led BO through the artifacts.
Heart Attack – pshaw! He was in close contact with Obama. He definitely died of Swine Flu. Just not the swine the media is talking about.
Cheney was usually behind the scenes, but I also feel he was doing a lot of work. Is Biden just the court jester for Obama? Who’s minding the White House…Obama is always gone.
We just know Pelosi & Reid are pushing their policies, as Obama has gone AWOL.
Cheney played the scary villian role in the Bush administration, but he was our scary villian. Just having him around and pop up once-in-awhile to remind people he was around served to keep America safe. I’m sure that the terrorists had to think twice about any plots because they didn’t know what Cheney was going to throw at them. It is a pity that neither Obama nor Biden instill that kind of fear in our enemies.
Indeed they seem to instill mirth and glee in our enemies.

You know, I just caught the video recently captured of a Pakistani couple being murdered in a field by the Taliban because they were secretly in love. Scenes like this make me anxious and worried that my leaders may not have an eye on the ball.
I don’t care if my VP doesn’t give me “warm fuzzies”, I expect to be kept safe. There are some wicked, wicked people out there and I want to know someone has a serious eye of those groups in the world. Biden doesn’t seem as intent or serious about our safety. Cheney may have been mysterious, but I still believe he was on the prowl on behalf of the American people.
Great post, Pjean. I don’t care if the VP gives me “warm fuzzies” either. That’s why when Obots would rave, “But-but Obaaama is sooooooooo charming and charismatic!!!!!!” it didn’t impress me. The job of POTUS and VPOTUS is, number one, to protect America. I couldn’t give a flying frick if he or she has “a great personality” As John McCain often said, politics isn’t about winning Miss Congeniality. Its about doing what’s right.
HB, Cheney is most definitely “crotchety” However, I’m totally Team Cheney with this torture probe. The American people, once again, are being spoon-fed select information by the media. Once again, the MSM is belittling the intellect of the American public to further their pro-Obama, radical left agenda.
lisarie, your post reminds me, Bush and Cheney never talked down or patronized the American peeps. They gave it to us straight up!
Love ya, Hillbuzz. Your comments strike at the heart of what many of us believe. If any of you Americans really want to make a difference, we need to start work at the grassroots level to rid ourselves of worthless politicians (of any party at local, state & federal levels) who have forgotten why they were elected–to represent US!!! Find a candidate who will fight for our rights and support him/her. You all know what I am talking about so let’s get started and REALLY make a difference in the 2010 elections. There is no better time than NOW!!! God Help Us.
HereinPA, YEAH! Our district has an Obamacrat congressman(has been office at least 10 years) who votes straight party ticket ALWAYS. Never ponders issues. For the last several years, he has not had an opponent. Finally, someone is stepping up to challenge him. It is a grassroots tea party organizer in our area. How cool is that?
We can do it! YEAH!
wow that is very encouraging TXMom!
HB:
completely agree, never in a million years did I think I would miss Bush and Cheney.. but I would vote for them over that america-loathing fraud … you know our enemies are just wathcing that fool in the WH thinking … YEP.. its open season on America and Americans.
I don’t consider myself a democrat anymore.. and that is what I was registered as when I first registered to vote, BUT I don’t consider myself a republican either.. guess I am one of the growing number of indies in this country..
I want a strong national defense.. and frankly with all the enemies of this country now foaming at the mouth after seeing that fraud on his “Apologize for America” tour, I am SO SCARED!
I want Bush and Cheney Back!!! (Of course I would take Hillary or Palin over them)
who would have thunk it? Cheney was the darth vader… but at least he was America’s Darth Vader.. yep… never in a million years would I have thought I would miss Cheney..
ssmith, I was going to write a separate post, but you took the words right out of my mouth.
I completely appreciate that scary, sneering, angry old ba**ard Cheney in retrospect. If I was picking teams, I’d be picking him.
Thanks for once again nailing it, hillbuzz.
It is the total perfidy of the MSM that opened my mind to a rethink on Bush & Cheney and various other issues of the past 8+ years. Talk about a disillusionment – but a welcome one.
Reality is a friend.
Once again HillBuzz, you have done your parents proud!! I believe history will be much kinder to Bush and Cheney than BO/Biden. I love VP Cheney and am grateful for the role he played in keeping us safe for the last 7 years. God help us with BO and Biden.
My gosh!
Is eating ice creme all that Biden does on the job?
Great pictures and great comments.
Delle
The one pic of Biden’s profile is so gross and hilarious at the same time.
We’ll be lucky if all he does is eat ice cream!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…..
Yum!
Ice cream in Obama’s special Waffle cones!
Forty microbiologists were murdered over a four year period. FORTY! Is it possible that Halliburton, KBR, Monsanto, and Gilead Sciences want a dry run, so that they can secure their billion-dollar contracts in the aftermath of a bird flu outbreak or a Bush-planned bioterror attack – for detention centers, quarantines and mandatory vaccines? The same players who ‘rebuilt’ New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina are still sitting at the table, poised for Bush’s pandemic party.
And you idiots complain about Biden!
Didn’t a wise person say: Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.
Well I prayed and prayed for a democrat in the White House and I guess I was not specific enough. I should have asked for a competent, honest, hard-working intelligent individual to be president. When I saw Hillary Clinton I knew she was that individual. Obama does not qualify on any level and the entire democratic party is one I am ashamed to have ever been a part of. (I am not telling anyone here what they already do not know). Yes, I actually long for the days of having George W. to kick around. The level of corruption that Obama brings to the table is staggering. Maybe it has always been there, but election 2008 opened my (our) eyes. And it is not a pretty sight.
Dick Cheney? Hell, I mIss Jimmy Carter!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……………….!
If you miss Jimmuh, may I suggest going to a pistol range to improve your aim?
You know, I lost my dad at 8 years old, and have always looked at Cheney as someone I would want as my dad. I mean, who can argue that a little bit of fear and a whole lotta respect mixed together makes for DAD material. Am I right?
I agree …. and his kids are a great testimony to that.
and his grandkids too.even Mary has a baby now.
You are right and not the only one who feels that way about the man. I have always wanted to attend a Cheney family dinner. Find them all fascinating.
He was intelligent, gracious, classy, proud, determined, etc, etc. and Right.
All you guys are right. Cheney reminds me of my Dad and brothers. He’s wise, kind, strong, brave and doesn’t take any crap off of anybody……especially his attorney. HB, thank you.
I Love Dick Cheney.
I gotta tell you guys that, you continue to impress me with your, “tell it like it is”, “come to Jesus” moments of truth. Refreshing, at least.
AMEN j.b.
AY-men from the choir!
You guys sure ain’t a bunch of pansies!
Love love LOVE this piece. Me, I never had a second’s worry when Richard was backing up George W at the helm of my country. Dick Cheney is on my Top Ten Sexiest Men Alive list. (I’m 48, straight, happily married.) Others on the list in Cheney’s age group include Robert Osborne from Turner Classic Movies, Donald Rumsfeld and William Hurt. W is not on the list, only because that would be too much like incest — since I view him with the reverence of a beloved father or grandfather.
You ought to read up a little on the entire Cheney family. Lynne Cheney is a rare, tremendously independent, and stunningly effective woman. Their kids, too, are exceptional Americans of the highest caliber.
I’m going to email you guys a photo of my front door.
P.S. I also caught the interesting tidbit about Rahm-bo’s social schedule. Hmmm… and duly noted.
Speaking of Lynne Cheney, watch her school an msnbc tool in this clip:
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/26/liz-cheney-vs-norah-odonnell-the-tactics-are-not-torture/
Severe verbal beat down administered, and she didn’t even raise her voice.
WOOT! lynne cheney OWNED that debate, she absolutely OWNED it!
clear and directly to the point, and didn’t let herself get beaten down or sidetracked.
Lady Lynne doesn’t take any s**t from any liberal.Wish more Repubs had her spine.
I LOVE LYNN.she is one fantastic lady.she writes great books too.
Never even broke a sweat.
While Bora acted like a spoiled child who couldn’t make a compelling argument to borrow the family car. She was way over her head. I bet that will be the last time Bora takes on Liz.
Sally, you sound like Monica Crowley, who at least once a day on her radio show says, “I Heart Dick Cheney!”
You’re a Great American!
Speaking of Crowleys, does anybody know if CNN’s Candy Crowley used to be a man.Sorry, couldn’t help myself!
Read this on another site, wish I thought it, but I’ll steal it.
“On the campaign trail in 2004, Dick Chenney kissed a baby’s head. A couple steps later he told his aides-”I’ll have that one for dessert”.
Good Post guys, thanks.
Hillbuzz: LOL!!! Thanks.
If I recall correctly his daughter is a lesbian
Once again, you guys are a class act. Even as an ultra conservative I wasn’t always fond of Dick Cheney. Bought the media lie. Looking back now….He was the man! GW defied pressure and kept him in there for a reason. Love.that.article.
I want to recommend that anyone who has not done so, read “While Europe Slept” by Stephen Bawer(sp?). Mr. Bawer is a gay man from NYC who decided to go to Europe because he was fed up with the way gays are treated in the US. He landed in Amsterdam and was shocked by the intolerance there by radical moslems toward gays, and the way the govt tolerated their behavoir and has allowed Sharia laws to supercede their own. He maintains that if it were not for George Bush, willing to put his presidency on the line to fight this fascist takeover of a religion, there would be no hope for any of us. It is a fascinating read of what could happen here with a weak government. Now we have that government. He feels it might be too late for Europe. I hope it is not too late for us. But as we see the rats in the WH now dismanteling everything Bush and Cheney did to keep us safe, we have a lot to fear.
Can’t wait for the Hillbuzz book. I am buying one for every Obot in my family. That should be enough sales to put it on the best seller list!
Never thought I’d say this but, Cheney seems to be morphing into a ‘good Dick’, and its always better to have a good Dick around!
LOL
For one thing, it provides Anderson Cooper and David Shuster with more material for their infantile “humor.”
LOL! AMEN!
My mom, who is my complete opposite and is as liberal as they come, said in January, “I can’t believe GW made it 8 years and didn’t get assassinated.”
I told her, “He bought his life insurance policy before he got elected — his name was Dick Cheney.” I believe that, and I think President Bush knew it, too. No enemy in his right mind wanted to see DC become POTUS!! If they thought they had a tiger by the tail with GWB, they would have been terrified to step foot outside with DC in the Oval Office.
That’s what a VP should be — a motivation to believe that the man in the White House is the better alternative. For the moment…well, OK, so it’s a coin flip between the two now, kind of like, “Do you want me to shoot you at dusk or hang you at dawn?” Except, those words are posed to American citizens, not our enemies!
Thank you, President Bush and Vice President Cheney. No matter what you may have done that Americans did not look favorably upon, those people are alive today because you did not sleep on your watch. And they still have the right to feel and say that they did not like some things you did, because you defended and protected their right to do so.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have NO IDEA how Biden became VP.
He HAD to either have something on Barack that he agreed not to share, or he had something on Hillary that he did share. Otherwise, why would anyone in their right mind offer the man VP… let alone his CHOICE of being VP or Secretary of State (as per his wife’s admission on Oprah).
Somehow, in some way, Biden was holding the keys to the castle. He had to be. I’m dying to know!
Used correctly, Biden could be an invaluable advisor.
Ask his advice, and then do exactly the opposite, because he has never been right about anything in his entire life.
I will always believe it has to do with his son the Del AG having Larry Sinclair arrested at his press confernce in DC. Of course all charges were dropped as soon as Joe was named VP.
EricP Says:
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have NO IDEA how Biden became VP.”
Either does Joe!
Maybe he was looking for the biggest moron he could find to make himself look smarter.Jughead and Plughead-what a team!
Very funny stuff. Well done.
Answer: No One else wanted the VP spot including Biden. But he was sort of forced into it.
NO one but no-one wanted to be remembered as Squatter Obama’s VP. Biden took the fall.
He picked him because he’s white, older, and been in DC a long time.
But there are dozens of other white, older, DC veterans to choose from. And most of them are more competent.
Joe was selected as BHO’s running mate for only 1 reason: Penna was in play before the bottom fell out of the market and Joe could play up his so called Penna roots where he described being born in the back of a Jiffy Lube in Lehigh County. For sure it wasn’t his 1 year of experience (36 times) in the US Senate
Cheney has served his beloved country for many many years.i believe honorably and honestly
kudos to him.
I never thought I would see a stupider or more delusional VP than Algore (Tubby McPutz), but Biden is giving him a run for his money.
So who’s stupider—Gore or Biden? I can’t decide; what does everyone else think?
Let’s see if I have this straight; The “inventor of the internet” vs. Roosevelt on TV…….hmmm. I’ll have to get back to ya.
Gore is brilliant, he just has no personality. Biden is unintentionally funny.
BRILLIANT??? surely you jest…
MIA, Brilliant enough to figure out that he can brainwash the masses and make millions.
Come on guys. You don’t think Gore is intelligent? Forget about how you feel about him personally and his politics, is he a smart guy?
YES. Gore is brilliant.
Same thing with Clinton. Say what you want about him personally, Clinton is a brilliant man.
Gore is a charlatan!
txmom–i see your POV but i don’t think that’s what James meant…or am i wrong? also, james…do you think bobo is brilliant as well?
MIA LOL Sorry. I was agreeing with you(I think). Personally, I think he is an idiot because he believes his own scam!
That is the problem with the written word. No voice inflection. I wrote that with extreme sarcasm in my voice.
If Gore’s so “brilliant,” how come he had a lower GPA in school than George W. Bush?
I’ll give Gore one thing: He DID go to Vietnam. For five whole months. And he even spent a night or two out “in the woods,” too, not in his regular hotel. All of which is more than Biden—or for that matter Bill Clinton–ever did.
we’re on the same page txmom-wink-however, i think BRILLIANT would describe someone like Washington, Einstein or Mozart, but NOT Algore.
Agreed.
MIA.
No, I don’t find Obama brilliant. Smart, but not brilliant. I don’t support BO btw (didn’t vote for him twice).
But Gore and Clinton? Yes, I find them brilliant.
I’ll go bubba, but not algorrhea on the brilliant scale.
Much like the people on this thread re-thinking their opinion of Darth Cheney, a while ago I had a small epiphany about Bill Clinton, revising my opinion of him decidedly upwards.
Algore, not so much- I hate that con. A lot. And he’s an idiot.
Let me see if I have this straight; Gore thinks he invented the internet vs. Biden thinks Roosevelt was on TV during the depression…hmmm, can I get back to ya on that?
gotta say this. anyone who can rack up $100 mil in 8 years is brilliant.
Let me see if I have this straight; Gore invented the internet vs. Biden thinks Roosevelt was on TV during the depression….hmmm, can I get back to you?
UH, let me get this straight, Gore thinks he invented the internet vs. Biden thinks Roosevelt was on TV during the depression………can I get back to ya on this?
Go for it, Hillbuzz! You’re right all along. And the way Biden looks at that ice cream in that last photo is downright perverse.
After tearing down Sarah Palin who could have been the VP now (just think what she would be doing!) the media give him a free pass.
My husband and I LOVE Dick Cheney! He is exactly what we should have in Washington: professional, all business, suffers no fools….not like the children there now.
Sorry Hillbuzz, I can NEVER be a fan of Dick Cheney.
I don’t think HB is saying they are fans..
I am no fan of Cheney.. BUT I would rather have someone in charge of my country who terrorists are scared of than someone like the fraud who I don’t think has one clue about how to protect this country, and with this apologize-for-america tour, now the world knows its open season on America and Americans..
And the release of CIA memos is the first of many items that will show over and over.. that the fraud will ALWAYS put himself first, over this country and the military.
And I am a staunch former democrat saying this.. I voted for Gore, I voted for Kerry, and I have voted for every Democrat for any and every position… many times not having a clue who they were, expect that they had a “D” after their name.
I don’t like Cheney, but I am grateful to him and Bush for keeping this country safe for over 7 yrs.
Obama? Hell.. who knows.. based on how comfortable he was greeting Hugo Chavez and so many god awful dictators.. hmm.. NOT GOOD!
All opinions are welcome here.
Oh goodie. He may be a WAR CRIMINAL but he’s OUR war criminal.
What has become of us?
I don’t know. I think Hillbuzz have become conservative republicans. That’s okay. We all change political beliefs based on experience and new information. But applauding a man like Dick Cheney as an honorable public servant? NO. Not for me at least. In my judgment, he’s the worst vice president ever for these reasons (in no order):
1. Manipulated Intelligence For Iraq (this is clearly documented)
2. Authorized torture (whether or not it works, it’s illegal. RONALD REAGAN signed the UN Convention Against Torture in ’88 prohibiting its use)
3. Leaked the identity of CIA agent Valeria Plame (Yea, Cheney is great for national security)
4. Domestic wiretapping
5. War profiteer
6. Wrote an energy bill specifically for corporate benefit (which Obama voted for btw)
Sorry. Cheney was okay before he was VP. The office made him very corrupt and power hungry. There was not a strong leader at President to keep him in check. Cheney sold out America.
“3. Leaked the identity of CIA agent Valeria Plame (Yea, Cheney is great for national security)”
Proven false. And most of the rest of your allegations are just opinion, not fact.
I think I smell a troll……….
Check your facts. Dick was very much involved.
1. According to the Libby indictment, “On or about June 12, 2003, Libby was advised by the Vice President of the United States that Wilson’s wife worked at the Central Intelligence Agency in the Counterproliferation Division.”
2. Four members of the Vice President’s staff — “Scooter” Libby, John Hannah, Mary Matalin, and Catherine Martin — have either been implicated in the leak or testified before the grand jury. In addition, Stephen Hadley worked under Cheney at the Defense Department and is considered by some to be his “eyes and ears” on the NSC staff.
3. Vice President Cheney’s handwritten notes, disclosed in a new court filing by Patrick Fitzgerald, show that he was “acutely focused” on smearing Joseph Wilson. Among the questions Cheney jotted in the margins of Wilson’s op-ed: “[D]id his wife send him on a junket?”
Yeah. What happened to this Hillary site? Is it a Republican site now?
Yea, maybe you should find a site for angry dems.
so because Hillbuzz writes a positive piece on Cheney, they’re suddenly republicans?
It’s become a Pro-America site. And that’s a GOOD thing.
#3 – Dick Armitage admitted that he ‘leaked’ her name. It has yet to be proven that she was undercover. Colin Powell knew it too, but Fitzgerald, the same Fitzgerald who ended the Blago investigation before they could ‘catch’ the buyer, told them to keep quiet – before the investigation even got started.
Noodle wins the Truth of the Day Award. Well done! You’re a Great American!
Very Good. Armitage admitted leak, he told his boss Colin Powell. Why didn’t Powell tell his boss?
If he had told his boss, there would have been no special prosecutor, no trash for the know-nothing media, and for six months Chris Matthews wouldn’t have had anything to talk about.
Oh yea, and Libby would have never been convicted of anything.
oh God, here we go with the “But he’s a WAR CRIMINAL!!” bullsh#t again…face/palm
It’s true. It may not be popular to say this about a high government official, but it’s documented.
James,
If it is criminal to preemptively attack a nation in defence of your nation, then what do you call a presidant who wouldn’t give his military a clear answer in trying to liberate an American hostage?
john,
I’m not an Obama supporter. I did not vote for him in the primary or general.
But he gave the necessary orders via the defense dept for the Navy to do their job. It took them a few days to set up. The SEALs are very patient, they had to wait for the right time to successfully complete the mission.
Read blogs by Larry Johnson of NoQuarter on this subject.
Biden looks like he could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.
How did Cheney get Armitage, you remember him, I calls him UGO (unidentified government official), to leak the name of Valerie Plame? Has anyone rationally explained that? Armitage hates Cheney as much as James does.
Sorry Hillbuzz, I love you guys to death but I would never say that Cheney was a great V.P.He and G.W. have done a lot of harm to this country and Barky is continuing in the same vein.
Barky is the Dem’s G.W.Bush.But as bad as I disliked Bush I dislike B.O. more.Barky makes Bush look like an Einstein. Biden is just plain stupid.I would never call Cheney stupid, he is a very smart man and ran the show.He was just power hungry and thought he was above the Constitution just like B.O.does.
Al Gore is a very smart man and was a good V.P. Of course no president will ever come close to Bill Clinton in the intelligence department. But even he is no match for Hillary. She is the brilliant one.
I do agree that the Bush Administration took our nation’s security a hell of a lot more seriously than this dumb one we have now. They were very security conscience and therefore I felt a lot safer.I just don’t think we should have invaded Iraq and should have stayed in Afghanistan. That was just a stupid move on Bush and Cheney’s part.
If we would have cleaned up the country where Bin Laden was hiding and stayed out of Iraq maybe we would not be in this mess we are in today.Bush and Cheney started a preemptive war and a lot of innocent people have died because of it.But I still prefer them over Barky/Biden.
I am so weary of the “we shouldn’t have gone to Iraq” mantra.
My son—a lifer Marine—has been in Iraq twice. The first time was in 2004. At that time he told me that after actually being in Iraq & talking with citizenry (thru interpreters), GW’s 2002 State of the Union address actually made sense.
Remember the Axis of Evil comment? Referring to Iran, Iraq & North Korea I believe. Well, the locals told our guys that indeed, Iran was the “head of the snake.” They wanted to bring about the end of the world so that their Twelfth Imam would come (and that’s still their strategy!)
Geographically, we had to put up a blockade against this, using Iraq & Afghanistan. Removing Saddam, a ruthless dictator, was a bonus for the Iraqi people. And yes, he had WMD’s which were “loaned” out to Syria and other countries.
Had we not gone in, things would be a lot different—and probably not in the way libs would like. What went wrong was Bush administration buckling to Dems and conducting the war against the terrorist forces with one hand tied behind our back. My son always said that if they could have gone in & done what they were trained to do, there is no army on earth that can best the US Marines.
Nee Nee:
Touche’ ! My husband was in Iraq for four years, and folks like you and I know the truth from our sons and spouses.
The media NEVER tell the truth about what has has been happening in Iraq.
Oh, and my husband is a Marine retired, so Semper Fi to your son.
semper fi
NeeNee tell your son and Tammy tell your husband, “Thank you for your service to our country and to the Iraqi people”.
My husband would say, “That’s our job, maam”.
Cheney was a GREAT VP. Tough as nails, and took no bullshit. This PUSSY VP would pee his pants if he had to deal with a hangnail.
And to all of you whiney trolls on this site: Go fuck yourself, and then go back to the Democratic Underground where you belong. You don’t know shit.
Oh, and my hubbie is now in China, cuz there’s shit going down that none of you have heard of yet.
I’m so sick of idiots.
Hillbuzz boys look at reality and don’t live in “ideology” anymore.
Thank God for this site.
Tammy, I LOVE YOU!
Tammy, I KNOW your husband would say exactly that. God bless our REAL heroes and their families.
NeeNee: I came to this a day late so hopefully you still see this. God bless your son and the service he provides with his fellow Marines.
We won’t have another attack by our enemies.
Our enemies won’t have to as the ‘second wave’ is Barry and Biden. We are being attacked from within.
Laughed my ass off. That was brilliant!
Al Gore is a very smart man and was a good V.P.
Sorry Serena, but if Al Gore is so worried about global warming, then maybe he should practice what he preaches. Dude has made a mint on the scam.
Yip. i see it that way too
What’s up with all the Cheney love? He’s a creep who can’t even shoot straight. He shot his friend thinking it was an animal.
I’m so glad to see Cheney and Bushco GONE!
But what was it exactly that Cheney did in 8 years? Prolly spent it in undercover in an old folks home from the looks of it. I mean the way they wheeled him out in a wheelchair when he was leaving the whitehouse for good.
THEY bankrupted this country.
If by “THEY” you mean BO and congress, I couldn’t agree with you more.
If your arguments consist of personal attacks only, devoid of facts, I think you’d better get your talking points straight before you post….just sayin.
rise, Have you ever been hunting? especially Dove hunting?…which is what he and his friends were doing. Yes, BOTH of them should have been more careful. Accidents happen with the best of shooters, so I would not condemn a man, who has hunted all his life, because of an accident. Besides, it was his attorney for crying out loud! Can’t blame the guy. LOL
Go back to your troll hut, you stupid bitch.
People on this site deal in facts and reality. You live in stupidity.
You mean the 10 TRILLION debt that Obama has created was the fault of GWB?
You are such a moron that I can’t even go there.
Go back to Huffpo for more fluff and Obama worship you twit.
Maybe you can go to the 100 day celebration that will be thrown for Obama. I’m guessing they’ll spend at least a 100 million of OUR TAX DOLLARS for that crap.
Go.
Go away.
And when you lose your job, thank the Messiah.
Twit
The Tammy Fan Club line starts right here—behind me.
You GO, girl!
Thanks, JackDaddy, but you do NOT want me to go any further. I’m sick of Obama worship.
If he’s so great, then why are THOUSANDS of people losing their jobs?
Nobody gives a shit about Cheney. The loons commenting here want to cling “blame” of the past to justify this Marxist.
Get real, you losers.
I marched with 10 THOUSAND in my town, and the numbers are growing.
Be afraid.
Be VERY afraid.
Idiots
Of course we want you to go further! Preach the Truth, Sister!
Can I get an AY-men from the choir?
I guess I’m one of the idiots you’re referring to. LOL
I make NO apologies for Obama. His economic policies are disastrous. He’s bailing out banks the way Herbert Hoover did. His stimulus is not doing anything. FDR’s spending programs created millions of jobs in his first months in office. Obama has lost millions of jobs.
But if you look at my posts, my criticisms have been about Dick Cheney, not Obama.
Gotta go to bed, but JackDaddy, you can contact me any time.
Don’t know how, since I won’t give my email on this site, but you may know how to do that.
Obamabots: Are any of you employed? How is that job market working for you?
Americans, WAKE UP!
Your only Swine Flu is your President.
Cheney is a REAL man, not this skinny turd.
One of the continual plusses for this site has been civil discourse. The penchant to agree or disagree without name calling. There are many political philosphies represented here. Of course not everyone will agree with everthing said, blogged or expressed. However for it to remain a viable site, name calling should be avoided, or else it will degenerate into a wasteland of back biting.
Um, the ex-VP’s wife is “Lynne”. The daughter who tore Nora Numbskull a new one is “Liz”. The daughter who is a lesbian is “Mary”. All you new pledges to the Cheney fan club got that?
And where were all of you when the country needed you to help prevent the demonization of Cheney and his boss? Well…? In an undisclosed location called “group-think” I suspect.
Reminds me of the ex-Greenpeace dildo who lectured us last year that nobody was even injured at Three-mile Island, much less killed. Took him 30 years to pull his head out and now he wants us to take him seriously?
Most of us are where we were years ago, no fan of Cheney.
Cheney kept us safe. Biden is a joke.
I 100% agree with you on that!
Let’s not also forget that Cheney is a coward and avoided fighting for his country in Vietnam. He’s an arm chair warrior.
James, Cheney not serving in Vietnam does not mean he is a coward. Conversely, just because John Kerry served in Vietnam does not mean he was a hero.
TxMom,
He CONSISTENTLY filed for deferments to get out of the draft. When it was time for him to serve, he applied for four deferments in sequence and waited it out until his wife got pregnant so he could be ineligible when he turned 26. You don’t find that cowardly?
Although John Kerry was very rich, he served his country. He could have easily, with his family’s influence, gotten out of the war. You don’t buy the dirty, untruthful swiftboating nonsense?
I will believe 200+ vets who knew him, served with, and signed their names to a list that thought him ‘unfit for command’, over him and the less than a dozen vets who were his friends.
He still has not releases all of his records. Why not?
Kerry DID try to duck completely out of his military obligation after taking the NROTC money all those years. When he failed to pull that off, he tried to serve his Naval obligation in nice safe Paris, but the Navy wasn’t having any of THAT, either. That’s all well-documented.
What’s not generally known is that at the time that Kerry volunteered fo for the Swift boats, the Swifts were pretty much a cake duty—sailing up and down the coast to prevent coastal infiltration by the VC, of which it turned out there was exactly ZERO. It was pretty much literally a “day at the beach.”
Before Kerry actually got to the Swift boats, however, their job had changed into the more dangerous riverine work for which they’re known today. (That must have cause Lurch to say a bad word or two, when he found out what he’d really be doing.) He made the best of a bad situation, filmed himself doing some hero stuff, and got himself sent home after he got his three golden splinters.
So Kerry served, yeah, but truth to tell he’s not much of a hero.
He released 42 pages of documents showing why he was awarded the medals.
Many of those veterans were not even there to witness his actions.
Their claims have been discredited. They did not want to see Kerry as president for political reasons. They were republicans and wanted to see Bush in a second term. They made up a controversy in order to make that happen.
JD,
You’re right about the nature of the swift boats, Kerry has acknowledged that.
Kerry was not a Rambo or anything. No one claims that. There were greater heroes who sacrificed much more than Kerry did (with their lives).
But the point is that Kerry served honorably and his service was denigrated by people who claim they honor service.
So how come he hasn’t released the records about his discharge, which was upgraded during the Carter amnesty years? (The question is, was his original discharge Dishonorable, Undesirable, or merely General?)
He requested early release, which was approved. Then he went into the Standby Reserve until 1972, where he had no obligations to attend any drills. Everything was approved by the Navy, so how could he have a “dishonorable” discharge? The Navy OFFERED him to be transferred to the reserves.
It’s a moot point anyways. He got his honorable discharge in 78.
No matter the reason Cheney (like I said I’m no fan) kept us safe. I don’t care about why he didn’t serve in the military, he was around when we needed him. O and Biden are both bringing us back to pre 9/11 mentality which the rest of the world is well aware of. The B/C admin. are making O/B admin look like juveniles.
that should be reversed Cheney is
the hero
Kerry is the other one
It’s hilarious that you Lefties made your Commander in Chief an ANTI-Military man.
Wouldn’t even visit them in Germany.
You know, the wounded soldiers who sacrificed for this country.
He played basketball instead.
And you call a VP a coward?
HAAAAA HAAA HAAAA
Your President(as you lefties love to call him) tells the rest of the world that WE are to blame for the problems of the world.
Do we behead people? Stone them to death? Boil them to death(Saddam LOVED that one, via my Marine husband’s tape of it).
Go to another site, you moron. You are just like the other bloggers who don’t get that this is REAL SHIT.
Maybe if your home is bombed you’ll get it. And I hope it it is, you idiot
And I meant a bombing from terrorists.
Then maybe you’ll wake up.
What a stupid response. Take an example from JackDaddy and learn how to respond respectfully.
But anyways. I did not vote for Obama, in the primaries or general. So what are you talking about? Obama is also a coward. I’ve said that many times on this blog.
I apologize, James, but not for everything I say.
I’m just sick of this constant blame of GWB.
Move forward. I’d take Cheney ANY day over Biden.
And I won’t act like JackDaddy, because I’m not him. He’s his own man.
And, by the way, I DO have manners, even if I get crazy on this site.
Go back and read your own posts, man.
Okay. Fair enough.
I was mean to Dick Cheney. I doubt he is reading my comments. LOL
I did not attack anyone personally here.
Good night.
James, I highly doubt that any one who has been with this site since it’s beginning voted for “The One”.LOL
This site has been our sanctuary from the rabid Obots all during the sham of a primary.I am extremely grateful that we have it and will treasure the Hillbuzz guys forever for giving us this place.
We are Hillary supporters through and through.May God bless her and President Clinton always.
Tammy:
People on Hillbuzz supported Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary. They were unhappy with the way the DNC managed their primary & campaigned for McCain against Obama during the general election.
You’re attacking the wrong lefties. If you want to start a fight, you should direct your Obama criticisms to the KosKids, huff & puff or the Democratic Underground.
Thank you Adagioforstrings. The entire premise of this site was dedicated to the support and admiration of Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, hence the name.
That is why I felt compelled to post that maybe some people on here need to check which site they are on.
We are not bots we are mostly PUMA and many of us are Indys having been Dems all our lives until this sham of a primary.
We had no where to go when our blogs were taken over by the rabid bots. This is one of the very few sites where we felt welcomed in our support and admiration of Hillary and refusal to kowtow to a usurper and his ideological enablers.
I am very thankful for this blog and for all the great Hillbuzz guys who are unwavering in their devotion to Hillary and Sarah and all women who are working hard and trying to make this world a much better place for every one.
Tammy, just so you know BO is not and never will be my president.I have not had a president since Bill Clinton.
Most of the formerly Dem. posters who have been at this site since it’s inception are here because we are PUMAs.
We supported Hillary in the primaries and when the nomination was stolen from her most of us voted for McCain/Palin.While we voted Republican many of us consider ourselves Independent.
You need to go to Huffington Post or Daily Kos and call those posters names. They love to name call over there and you should feel right at home. That’s where all the bots hang out.You won’t find very many on here.
“Let’s not also forget that Cheney is a coward and avoided fighting for his country in Vietnam.”
Yeah, there was a bit of that going around back in those days.
http://tinyurl.com/w4o1
We just know Pelosi & Reid are pushing their policies, as Obama has gone AWOL.
Obama is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pelosi & Reid, UNLtd. No one is minding the Nation’s business from the White House, as witness that brain dead functionary that authorized the NY Terror Flight today.
They’re all just a bunch of malevolent children.
I’m not a fan of Cheney (altho would prefer him to the clown we have now) but I will say
I didn’t see the WH terrifying the people of NYC and NJ by flying a huge jet, being chased by fighter planes, around the statue of Liberty for a “photo op”
What kind of idiot would think a “photo op” like that would be okay? And not even notifying the office of the Mayor of NY? How many people in NYC were terrified thinking another attack was imminent? There is just NO excuse for stupidity of that magnitude.
I loves me some ice cream!
Biden is a real tool….but those pictures are making me hungry for ice cream, thank a lot.
Just a thought:Maybe we all need to remember what site we are on. HILL(HILLARY)BUZZ.
Serena, I suspect many of these posters weren’t here during the primaries. There are some posters here now who are calling any dems “bots”, even though we were PUMA who didn’t vote for BO. These people seem to think this is a republican site, and anyone else is a bot. I don’t know, maybe it has become a republican site. But it didn’t use to be – it used to be for all of us. My suspicion is that many of these new people aren’t even Hillary supporters.
This seems similar to what happened on the Taylor Marsh blog – Obama supporters were the “bots”, then TM flipped to being an Obama supporter, and all of a sudden, the Hillary supporters were considered the “bots”. So, if these particular posters keep acting this way, then Hillary supporters will be “bots” on a site named for Hillary herself. Strange.
Lorlac I sincerely hope and pray that this site will never go the way of Taylor Marsh with instead of crazed Obots,we would be flooded with all right wing posters and Clinton bashers.Guess the name would have to change if that happened.Strange indeed.
This particular article was posted to the ace of spades website:
http://minx.cc/?post=286557
which might be the reason you are getting a somewhat different crop of posters. People frequently adopt a high school locker room mentality on that site, but it’s usually, at heart, well intentioned teasing. I grew up with 4 older brothers, so I’m rather enured to such behavior.
The Democratic party is just over the top! Here are their lies from just last week:
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/10613
Fae, that is no surprise to me.It is truly shameful that in our own country we have to get the factual news from Canada and Great Britian.
I like their moniker: “Father Earth, Algore”
This Biden fellow might be a real doofus, but he’s got hedge fund written all over him. The Biden boys hedge fund gang has some very dark clouds approaching on the horizon. Enjoy sherrif Joe will you can. This guy is our latter-day Spiro Agnew
Very good point. Had forgotten about that one.
Wonder if ole dopey Joe is going to plagiarize the “nattering nabobs of negativity” speech?
I was listening to NPR this morning while in a cab and the commentator was saying that while Obama wants to reverse some of the foreign policies of the Bush Administration, and is reaching out to other countries unlike Bush, he should be careful as not being seen as too weak. Foreign leaders do not like that. In fact they like having the U.S. as a “super power”. Obama wants to play that down and just make us like any old guy on the block. This kind of rhetoric may not do well for us down the road when some kind of negotiating begins. We may be perceived as weak by some and bullies look for weak people to bully.
really, they actually said that on NPR? I am surprised.
re: susan h:”We may be perceived as weak by some and bullies look for weak people to bully.”
Well, duh! Any kindergartener would know that…. & I share perries’ surprise that the source of the story was NPR.
It appears that Biden is the food taster for the Obama Administration. Hence more than one cone in his hands to make sure no one is trying to poison Hillary or Obama.
Eaglewingz08,that is probably the best use for him.lol
Awesome piece, especially considering from wence it came.
I could not agree with more with the thoughts expressed.
You know the world has turned upside down when you are getting more thankful for the Bush Admin because of the actions of our supposedly more intelligent, savvy and hip one!
I never thought I’d say that I almost long for either Cheney or Shrub.
But with the recent doings of President Doofus’s Admin flying over NYC for a photo op after bowing down to the Saudi King and buddying up with some of the worst dictators in the history of Latin America, I do long for the Shrub clan. At least I could blame someone besides my-own-party-that-left-me for the gaffes!
BRING BACK THE COWBOY!!!!!!!!!!!
At some point the public – and if we’re lucky, the electorate – is going to realize how much of the “Evil W. McBushitler” narrative was simply a product of the Pelosi-Reid partisan Congress and their lying shill whores in the media.
“Who knows what he was up to, but we’re certain, 100%, that it helped keep this nation safe for the last eight years.
It’s probably what he’s still working on now, from somewhere secure and undisclosed as you read this.”
Is that your “hope” in Biden’s running mate’s age of hope and change?
I think Darth Cheney is in a secret location plotting to help those former CIA “man-created-disasters” warriors how to fight the banana-republic-nesque demonize-your-political-enemies wars. He may also be writing his memoir, the chapter on how Khalid Shiek Mohammud sued the US govt. for wrongful incaceration and rewarded 10 million taxpayers dollars. He was “tortured” into confession, his evidence inadmissible. His sentence was thrown out by Obama’s Supreme Court.
God Bless you, Cheney and Lynn, and the whole family! You kept America safe. I never questioned you LOVE FOR AMERICA.
One
Big
Ass
Mistake,
America!
Right on! Hillbuzz guys–we must have been separated at birth. I am a recovering Democrat and have followed/mirrored your political “awakening” during the last campaign. I know exactly what you are feeling/talking about. I am a former Cheney critic who now has “seen the light” and also misses his reassuring presence.
Fabulous take on Dick Cheney. I was one of the 10 percent of Americans that approved of him IN office and told his daughter when I met her, “I love your father!” She said, “I do, too.”
I approved of him in office because he struck me as a totally ballsy guy that could get any bully to back down, and because the entertainment value of his smackdown of John Edwards in their debate was priceless.
I have to say you people are really amazing. For eight solid years Cheney was the worst thing that ever happened to this country, besides W.
Both Cheney and W were the whipping boys of the left, while BHO and his veep were paraded around as the Messiah and his trusty side-kick.
I hope you all enjoy the next four years, because you’re getting just what you wished for.
Love it!!! I’m an old school GOPer (although i’m under 40) but I started feeling the Hillbuzz love before BO bought his office…
Love your take on DC. Funny how it takes a bumbling fool in office to get folks to appreciate a mundanely solid man who didn’t want any higher office for himself, so he just didn’t give a rat’s @r$e about what anyone else thought!
I was reading the comments on this article, and was pleasantly surprised to see that there are indeed lefties who are against Obama. There are, I’m sure, plenty of things that you and I disagree on, but for now we’ve got a common political enemy, the current administration.
But I would like to understand something. You’re Hillary supporters, and you’re against Obama; how do you react to Hillary’s being a prominent part of the Obama Administration?
And now that a lot of you have become Cheney supporters, here’s a hypothetical question for you. Let’s imagine that today is Election Day 2012. The D nominee is, of course, Obama (when was the last time a President seeking reelection failed to gain his own party’s nomination?), who has announced that Hillary will remain his SecState if he’s re-elected. The R nominee is Dick Cheney. Who do you vote for?
Thanks.
I’ve had this change of heart with Cheney also. I never realised I felt safer with him at the helm, but boy, do I regret thinking he was an evil robot now. He was OUR evil robot, and I’d prefer that to someone who apologizes and undermines America at every opportunity.
I’m offended that you’re comparing mentally challenged children to Joe Biden.
