Bill introduced in Georgia to ban Sharia law
Yes! Yes! Yes!
From Creeping Sharia…
House Bill 45, introduced by Rep. Mike Jacobs, R-Atlanta, states “it shall be the public policy of this state to protect its citizens from the application of foreign laws when the application … will result in the violation of a right guaranteed by the Constitution of this state or of the United States.” The bill also would prevent arbitrators or tribunals from enforcing a foreign law that didn’t meet constitutional standards.
Jacobs, a lawyer and vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told the Fulton County Daily Report the bill would “ban the use of Sharia law in state courts.” He acknowledged that he was not aware of any instances in Georgia where a plaintiff or defendant asked the court to apply Sharia law but believes it has happened elsewhere.
Oklahoma…South Carolina….now Georgia….
Let’s keep the fight going…America is worth it.
Call or email your state reps and tell them NO Sharia

I love it!!! I’m not one who normally supports the passage of any legislation without making it the last resort, but folks – we are approaching a dead-end. We either fight to preserve our freedoms or we give it away – forever! More states need to model this.
The most frightening thing about this proposal is that it is needed. We should not have to pass laws to defend Americans against application of foreighn laws on US soil.
Exactly. I’m glad people are waking up.
F**ck em all and fee’em rice and down with Sharia!
Right on!
I genuinely hope they will have more success than Oklahoma had in November:
[[A federal judge in Oklahoma has issued an order putting on hold the certification of a ballot measure that forbids state courts from considering or using international laws, as well as Sharia, or Islamic law. That permanent injunction will allow the judge more time to consider the constitutional issues raised by State Question 755, which was approved by voters earlier this month.
[[Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange had earlier issued a temporary restraining order in favor of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which had sued to nullify the law completely.
[["While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out," wrote the judge in Monday's order, "the court finds that the public has a more profound and long-term interest in upholding an individual's constitutional rights."...]]

That is a perfect example of why there needs to be a way to hold appointed officials accountable for their actions in office.
At least with elected officials, you can get them voted out of office if they offend enough voters.
So now, depending on her ruling, we should be more concerned about preserving the “constitutional” rights of foreigners in this country even when it goes against our laws and rights. And forget about human rights for women!
I would suggest a vacation for the judge. She needs to spend some time in one of these wretched muslim countries to get the complete picture of what she is dealing with because, obviously, to put a hold on this decision, she hasn’t a clue.
Yes, here in Oklahoma, we passed that State Question by an overwhelming margin because we never want the atrocity of sharia law to get the tiniest of toeholds. Then, of course, the CAIR bear funded lawsuits and injunction shopping went into overdrive. We are furious, but, we will prevail. We are a strongly Conservative state and we don’t much care for the clear will of the people being ignored.
This should be a very easy law for Georgia to pass.
We can’t do anything like that here in AL until we clean up some ethics stuff left behind by our former horrendous GOP Gov Riley and awful former state house Dems.
Paul – I think it was Gov. Riley who took quick advantage of the newly conservative AL state house to finally get ethics reform Riley has been fighting for his entire two terms passed before the freshman could get sucked into the lavish lifestyle through lobbyists. Gov. Dr. Doctor Bentley, who let fellow conservatives burn at the hands of AEA, has yet to impress us in Montgomery.
Here in MN, home of the sycophantic Amy Klobuchar, the pornoclown Al Franken and the original CAIRBbear, Keith Ellison, (Dems, all), we actually have a newly established Islamic Law and Human Rights Program, for the study of Sharia. It is located in the Human Rights Center at the (once prestigious) U of MN.
Seems oxymoronic, Human rights and Sharia. Maybe the Human Rights in Sharia are based on the rights of Arab guys? Don’t know, haven’t signed up yet.
POWERLINE covers this, thank God.
The democrat hellholes of the Twin Cities beyond a doubt are the redoubts of the most stupid population in the entire country. We know them by who they elect Franken, Ellison, Klobuchar, and the ultimate Minnesota mental pygmy & pseudo non-genius, Ventura.
I am shamed to have to list Minnesota as my birthplace but fortunately my parents had the sense to leave the scathole when I was still a tender age. What a scathole of liberal corruption is urban Minnesota.
He’s right, you know, EXCEPT Ventura ran a good administration…knew whom to hire.
“Scathole of liberal corruption” is spot on. Think pornoclown vs. Coleman.
