ARTISTS NEEDED: Help storyboard a Ground Zero Victory Mosque commercial for Carl Paladino
Here’s the idea we have for a commercial for Carl Paladino, who is running for Governor in New York and is a strong and vocal opponent of Islam’s plan to build a Victory Mosque at Ground Zero.
Republicans, particularly the Cocktail Party GOP establishment, have traditionally been skittish about taking on the Left over something like this Ground Zero Victory Mosque. That’s because Republicans have been operating under the delusion that if they will only be as meek and wimpy as possible, that the media will then love them and shower them with praise.
The mental illness the media has drilled into Republicans is this: the only way you win is by being Democrat-lite, and by keeping your mouth shut, and by never doing anything that will give the Left license to call you names…but they’ll just call you names anyway, so really, what you do doesn’t matter.
Here’s where things are in New York, based on everything we are hearing from people on the ground throughout the state:
(1) New Yorkers are angry about this Ground Zero Victory Mosque and don’t want it built
(2) New Yorkers are angry with Democrats for backing this Ground Zero Victory Mosque
(3) Republicans are afraid of speaking out against the Ground Zero Victory Mosque because Cocktail Party GOP advisors and pollsters keep telling Republican candidates they need to be as meek and cucumbers-and-mayonnaise covered as possible. ”We can’t have any spicy sandwiches in this cocktail party. It gives our tummies uh-ohs”.
(4) New Yorkers WANT someone to take to the airwaves and denounce Democrats for supporting the Ground Zero Victory Mosque. They are waiting to express their anger at Democrats for being behind this. If Republicans don’t tap into this, they are missing a golden opportunity to turn New York red this fall.
Please read our treatment for a Carl Paladino commercial on this Ground Zero Victory Mosque.
The next thing we need is to storyboard this out.
Does anyone have any experience doing this?
Let’s use this not only as an opportunity to help Carl Paladino in New York, but also to learn how to put together a political commercial. After it’s storyboarded out, we can send the script and images to Paladino’s campaign and urge him to make something similar to unleash upon Democrats in this closing month before the election.
If we work together as a team on this, and it’s successful, maybe we’ve found a new way to affect other races like this coast to coast.
How about it?

…coming out of lurkedom again just because as an Italian, I HAVE to point this out.
From wikipedia:
“The paladins, sometimes known as the Twelve Peers, were the foremost warriors of Charlemagne’s court, according to the literary cycle known as the Matter of France. They first appear in the early chansons de geste such as The Song of Roland, where they represent Christian martial valor against the Saracen hordes.
The earliest recorded instance of the word paladin in the English language dates to 1592, in a poem written by Samuel Daniel. It entered English through the Middle French word palladin or paladin, which itself derived from the Italian PALADINO.”
And if I may quote the boys’ last post on this…
“The more the Left and Democrats try to demonize someone like Paladino for fighting this Ground Zero Victory Mosque with everything he’s got the more the media will make Paladino a champion of the people…because the people do not want this mosque built.”
In modern Italian, the word ‘paladino’ has taken on the general meaning of ‘CHAMPION’ or ‘DEFENDER’ – most notably in the expressions ‘paladino della giustizia’ (‘defender of justice’) or ‘paladino dei più deboli’ (‘defender of the weak’).
Nomen omen, anyone? XD
Oh, yes! And in a way, antithesis to Saladin.
Wow.
Double Wow!! Does anyone remember the old cowboy show “Have Gun will Travel”? The main character was Paldin. He was an “independent contractor” hahahah. Gunslinger who helped those who were under seige. The show opened with a chessboard and the knight was Paldin – dressed in all black.
Boyz, my son is a video/editing student.
He can do voice over, special effects, editing ect from his laptop.
I would be happy to help; just direct me where you want to go.
Kristi, your son would be familiar with machinima, warcraft and warcraft dance videos? What software does he use as we may have some of the same software.
Suggestions:
Paladin theme song from Have Gun Will Travel for a basis
To grab attention and get hits on youtube put in a dance like warcraft[ers] have used.
I discovered the Blues Brothers version of Rawhide on youtube today; Rawhide might be a basis….head em out, round em up, cut em off….
Ha.. he is playing WOW now.
Yes, he knows exactly what you are talking about. He just laughed at the Paladin reference.
He uses a Sony program for editing video’s.
He does the news at school.(his 4th year for this) His high school has the same equipment news stations have. Its the most incredible thing I have ever seen.
Krisi, I challenge him to come up with a video for Palladino using a revision of the Palladin theme song! Is he up for it?
oops, Kristi.
I will spend a lot of time promotiing it if he will make it.
Irene, I really really like the Defender of Justice, as in my mind building the mosque near ground zero is such and INjustice to the families and all Americans.
This ad targeted the younger generations about stealth legislation overseas and seems effective – just as a point of reference. I do not know why this is a little fuzzy, but look at this ad and read the comments:

We also have a lot of video ability as my husband is a professional videographer for the business we run out of our home. We have our own soundbooth here and access to a great voiceover talent that used to work for WTTW. I haven’t specifically done a storyboard before, but the business I used to work for did them all the time, and I’m really familiar with how they are supposed to look (basically just illustrating the video in a somewhat abstracted sense).
We are actually in the process of coordinating some political ads for some other local candidates, so that will be pretty cool.
My son is a professional videographer/producer – works with Apple Final Cut Pro mostly. He’s shared some “secrets” with me and I recently completed a major online video training program for work. I suggest using Keynote or Power Point and creating a you tube movie for this project – pretty easy and the results can be very effective.
I think there’s a way to create the Boyz’ concept without having to do live filming – which would be terrifically expensive.
Let me play with it a bit…
Yes it would make a great ad and should be done.
