Anyone in Tennessee following the teachers’ unions there? Ground Reports needed.
It looks like Tennessee could be facing the same Democrat thuggery that’s assailing Wisconsin this week, because the Tennessee legislature’s Education Committee has voted to move forward with efforts to wrestle budgetary control away from greedy teachers’ unions and return financial order to the state…and power to parents and duly elected officials chosen by the people to represent the state’s best interests…NOT whatever enriches the teachers’ unions.
We could very well be looking at a national revolution against union corruption, if what’s happening in Wisconsin and Tennessee becomes a spark for a coast to coast movement to remove the unions’ from control of state budgeting processes.
There was a time in the early 20th Century when unions were indeed needed because people had no one to protect them from the corrupt self-interests of bullies. But, by the end of the 20th Century, the unions became the corrupt self-interested bullies that Americans need protections from.
It’s time for this country to overthrow our union oppressors, particularly in “blue states”, where unions have destroyed cities like Detroit, Newark, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and continue to do their damndest to drag down places like Chicago as well.
This has to stop.
And the teachers’ unions sure look like a great place to start when it comes to pushing back against the Democrat thuggery that has driven so many states into insolvency, all because of the massive perks and ridiculous payouts the unions continue to shake out of state governments.
If you are not personally getting any of these giant union payouts, then you should not be voting Democrat because Democrats sure are proving every day the only thing they care about is protecting unions, because those unions have always been so good about filling Democrats’ campaign contribution coffers to keep them both symbiotically in power.

Here’s a toast to the END of the so-called “progressive” movement. Now bury the sonofabitch with a stake through it’s ugly black heart.
Not all teachers think this way:

And here’s another one:

My mother’s a teacher, so I’m not down on the profession itself.
I am angry that the leftist protesters have no comment other than “Spend, bebbeh, spend!”
They could talk about reviving the income through fiscal conservatism so that the state could bear more of this burden, but nooooooo…..
I live in Nashville and, surprisingly, this week is the first I’ve heard about this on the local news. I’ll watch this closely and try to be present at Legislative Plaza when these goons show up so I can snap some photos & videos to catch any thuggery.
OOOOH. Please do post pics. Lots. I am so lucky to have been born into such interesting times. I was made for this era!
Yeah, me too. I just don’t see any tolerance at all for union thugs in Nashville. We have guns you know…lol. This is the same area where the floods were. We don’t like outsiders. This is Country Music country.
I can tell you with first hand knowledge, Tennessee is fiercly conservative. Memphis is the only liberal stronghold.
There would be no tolerance to union thuggery in this state. If they want Memphis to be their battle ground then they can have it. Nobody else would support it and nobody else in the state gives a hoot about Memphis to be honest.
Bev – Have you seen the county-by-county results after each election? Nashville-Davidson County is solidly in the blue. Like Kevin, I deal with the continual, unmitigated HATE from the Nashville gay community on a daily basis. It’s not only the gay community; don’t forget about hipster East Nashville, Vanderbilt/West End, Hillsboro Village or the predominately black neighborhoods around Bordeaux and the Fairgrounds.
And you’re so right about Memphis. Even my friends joke that Memphis is really the capital of Mississippi.

Okay. This is in Franklin, TN which is extremely conservative. It’s also one of the richest counties in TN. It’s where Marsha Blackburn is from. I don’t see a big explosion of communist involvement…union thuggery per se.
Tenneseans HATE outside groups and people butting into their business. This is not Memphis. This is the same area where the floods were, remember? We didn’t even want Obama to come visit…lol.
Bev,
I’m working on a story for NPR and would love to talk. can you email? bfarmer@wpln.org.
I think in a very baaaad way all this is a gift that we can mine all the way past 2012. The gift that keeps on giving.
What sort of campaign slogans can we all come up with here? I cannot wait to read others future-bumperstickers.
Here are some
Dems: When the going gets tough, go to rockford! (ew, Ihave heard bad things about that town)
Democrats are too immature to be left alone! Elect more republicans!
You cant leave dems unattended; elect more adults.
Wisconsin! Not just cheese anymore. Now we have whine too!
We won’t have a chance to elect anyone with conservative ideas or who might be able to bring this country back from the brink of disaster if state are attempting to pull ’12 primaries:

I have to say, they will try any and everything. God help us all!
OOPS. Sorry guys. New email and I forgot to do the gravatar thingy. So now I am rstj. I apologize for my silly memory issue.
jeff g. has a contact page for many of the states in the crosshairs of this union putsch.

Hearing nothing along the Tenn-AL state line. The TN counties we cover here in N. AL are all deep red. So I doubt we’ll see anything break out.
Kevin, keep an eye on Idaho. Someone in the open thread noted that Idaho is making Wisconsin moves.
Not hearing anything in East Tennessee. Even here in Oak Ridge. We’ve been Republican since the party was first formed.
I posted this o=another thread but if lives close to Madison –
Tea Party Patriots Calling for Rally in WISC
http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=61667
A problem is that the new governor Haslam is NOT pushing this. He seems to be OK with legislative Republicans doing so, but don’t count on him for the kind of leadership that Walker is showing.
I think Francis Piven should be pointed out by SOMEONE! She was calling for violent riots along the lines of those in Greece, etc. about a month ago.
Somehow I always thought it would be the left pushing the right too far to bring the pitchforks and torches out. I never really considered that the Left could (or would) encourage their own people to start the riots. But it’s happening everywhere… Wisconsin, D.C. (they picketed Boehner’s residence), Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee…
The question is, will it work…or will it backfire badly?
It’s been obvious to me for some time that they were trying to provoke the Tea Party people into violence.
Since that didn’t work, they will start it themselves. For those going to Madison tomorrow, be careful. The thug forces will try to provoke an incident.
I tend to agree w/ you. I must admit I can not believe these protests over something so little. The President and Pelosi throwing in w/ these goons is shocking but not surprising. If anybody goes to Madison be careful.
I’m in Southeast TN, Chattanooga area, and we’re pretty conservative in my neck of the woods, too, and getting more conservative all the time. We just sent a long-time bluedog Dem rep packing and elected a tea-party member in our district. I’ll be looking for news on this issue, though to guage opinion around here.
Nashville is a mix mostly conservative with pockets of libs. Anyone in Tennessee….look up the names of those on the Education Committee and send a THANKYOU. You can find info and names on the State of TN Legislative site…thanks, y’all!
I’m in NW TN and have not heard much in my area. We are a very conservative people even though many continue to vote democrat because their grandpappy was a democrat. I know some old farmers who won’t work on Sunday because “child, that’s the Lord’s day”, but will go vote for a dem who worships at the abortion alter in a heart beat. I’m only about 80 miles from the heart of Memphis, and that’s too close. Memphis is it’s own country as compared to it’s neighbors. People are fleeing Memphis and Shelby County in droves. They have their own education issues right now with the possibility of a city/county merger. That’s a whole story/drama all on it’s own.
