Another inside bit of intel to quash any Hillary as VP talk for 2012

Posted on October 9, 2010 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz

Here’s an article by Jed Babbin at RealClearPolitics that’s 99.5% junk, but redeems itself for one tiny bit of something wonderful tucked deep inside…like finding a stray gummi bear in Oprah’s navel.  Just ask Stedman, it’s remarkable (but, then again, how would he ever know?).

Here’s the gummi bear in Babbin’s otherwise bloated, nonsensical Oprah (and it’s one of the rare super-delicious crystal clear pineapple gummis):

And in Woodward’s book, we see the moment at which that the gap between Clinton and Obama may have become unbridgeable. It should scotch all the talk of an “Obama-Clinton” ticket in 2012.

In an October 9 meeting on the Afghan strategy, Clinton said to Obama, “Mr. President, the dilemma you face…” Her use of “you” instead of “we” – according to Woodward – “floored” Richard Holbrooke who told Woodward it was a “Freudian giveaway.” Woodward writes that to Robert Gibbs, Obama’s press secretary, it was Clinton distancing herself from Obama.

What I like most about this is that it’s the Hillary Clinton I have adored for my entire adult life — the super sharp smartass who f***s with people’s heads.

On the campaign trail in 2008, I got to see this Hillary in action a lot, at various events, where she played word games and dipped everything she’d say in pure sarcasm.  The woman is very funny, which 90% of the public doesn’t realize.  Her humor is very biting, to the point, and aggressive…and for whatever reason she’s never shown that on TV because people might find it mean-spirited.  In another dimension, instead of becoming a politician she was a comedienne, in the sort of Sarah Vowell, David Sedaris, David Foster Wallace realm.

I love that she went to whatever meeting that was that Woodward talks about and kept saying “the dilemma YOU face” to Obama, emphasizing this is HIS problem, not hers, because she’s not president.  He wanted this.  He and the DNC prevented this from being HER problem, so now Mr. Hopeychange needs to deal with this mess…because she continues to do everything she can to make sure she has no fingerprints on any of it.

I really love that about Hillary Clinton.

I can never adequately tell you how blessed I feel every day that there was a stretch in 2008 where I got to see this woman up close about 2-3 times a week, to the point where she actually remembered my name and carried on conversations with me.  To me, this would be like Abraham Lincoln, Amelia Earhart, Mercy Otis Warren, or Bette Davis knowing who I was and talking to me…people I like for one reason or another and always enjoy hearing about from history…only HRC is alive and well and playing mind games all day that apparently drive Obama and his supporters crazy, still.

I really hate reading speculative fiction where Hillary Clinton replaces Biden in 2012 so she can try to save Obama and give him a second term.

That disgusts me on so many levels.

There’s the problem I have with it in someone I love, truly, having to save the man who was so horrible to her.  I just couldn’t help her do that, and it would break my heart to not be out there campaigning for her, because she should have been our 44th president.

I’m glad she didn’t take Biden’s place in 2008 because I like that she’s removed from this administration down in Foggy Bottom, and I love that being Secretary of State not only burnished her foreign policy credentials but also allowed her to escape the Senate…so that she didn’t have to vote for any of the craziness that Democrats have engaged in for the last two years.

There is just no benefit to her climbing aboard the sinking S.S. Lightbringer.  The only one who would benefit from that is Obama, but I still don’t see even Hillary Clinton being able to save him in 2012.

And I don’t think any Democrat will win because I think Democrats have damaged their brand so much, and permanently alienated a generation of Independents, moderates, and conservatives, that no salvation is likely for them for many, many years to come.

This means, unfortunately, that Hillary Clinton will never be president, since I don’t think the damage of Obamaism can be wiped away even by 2016…when Hillary’s next chance to run would have been…and I also believe President Palin will do such a good job starting in 2013 that she’ll have a Reaganesque re-election in 2016…which I hope sets up a President Allen West in 2020.

I don’t know what Hillary Clinton’s next act will be, but I hope I get to be a part of it.  I’d like to spend the rest of my life doing something for a Hillary Clinton Foundation and helping Americans see what a supers-smart, amazing, one-in-a-million, grand master mind game player she really is.

Because you really can’t fully appreciate anything she does without knowing this…without getting to know her brothers here in Chicagoland…or her personal friends…or the people who have been close to her all these years.

ALL of these people are mind-game masters…in a very good way.

If you enjoy reading us here at HB, and you like our sense of humor, then let me assure you that if you ever got the chance to spend some time with Hillary Clinton or the Team Hillary people around her, that you would like them all very much too.

She really and truly drives Obama crazy…and more than one report has him obsessed with HRC plotting against him, maneuvering him to make fatal mistakes in his presidency, and guaranteeing he’s a one-term failure so for the rest of time Democrats will curse themselves for picking HIM instead of her.

All the while she’s smiling, in a golden pantsuit somewhere, smiling and laughing and f***ing with these people’s heads.

I really do love her for that.

Kevin–you have been a writing machine lately. And I love it! I’m so glad you have the extra time to blog and write.

This is a great insight. I don’t see how she would ever want to be Obama’s VP, even if it is offered. Especially if the Titanic is going down. Why damage herself that way? One gets the impression Obama and Hillary Clinton do NOT like each other. I don’t see her being his veep either.

“like finding a stray gummi bear in Oprah’s navel.”

Lol. Thanks for that. I needed a good laugh.

Just be careful that “The Oprah” doesn’t run you over as she rushes to grasp that sticky, linty, dust covered gummi bear.

I still want to read Oprah’s Daddy’s Book that she squashed him on!

    LOL, very catchy imagery!

Even though I disagree with Hillary on political issues, I think I would like her as a person. What she ought to do, is tell Zippy that she is praying for him, give him a hug and a huge grin. That would be fabulous. She would be able to watch as Zippy literally came unraveled, trying to figure out what Hill is up to. It would be a crying shame to see Zippy removed from office on the grounds of mental instability.

I am not much of a Hillary fan, but I sure would have preferred her as president over Obama. I may disagree with her politically on nearly everything, but I don’t get the impression she hates this country and is ashamed of it the way the Obamas are!

Thanks so much for sharing your insights to her. I can’t honestly say I knew what she was about. Bill Clinton was the only democrat that I ever voted for and it was only for his second term. Honestly, how could I vote for Bob Dole! Pa-lease.

But I always feared that Hillary would be tougher than Bill and would refuse to move to the center the way he did. Of course, I could be wrong.

But there is NO DOUBT, she would have been a MUCH better President that Dr. U. MUCH better. But everything happens for a reason I guess. If she had won the nomination, no way would McCain have picked Palin and we may never really have gotten to know her as much as we do now.

Here’s to hoping that Hillary goes down as one of our most powerful political infuences and is a positive part of history. Like a good coach that never got to take their team to a National Championship or Super Bowl…it doesn’t mean they weren’t one of the best!

It makes me sad to think again about 2008. Hillary should have been President. I will not be able to vote for her again because Obama brought out my conservative side and now I see all democrat policies as destructive, but I shed many tears in 2008. I am sure I will never hear the name Hillary Clinton and have forgotten how I sobbed when she stopped her campaign (Obama had to be in my frickin’ city that night, too, just to make it worse). I am tearing up right now thinking about it.

Now I will be voting for President Palin

Great writing as usual—thank you! Oh, O-hole is a Leo and Hill a Scorpio so they are naturally squared with tension between them. He has to be the star and she resents him big time under the surface and she never forgets, but is well able to hide it. I hope some kind of “social justice” is meted out on O and Hill gets the last laugh–not because I agree with her at all, but just because O mopped the floor with her so arrogantly. Anyone read d’Suza’s book The Roots of Obama’s Rage?

Great analysis of Hillary. And, some new insights into how she thinks. But, please, we need some warning on shocking imagery–a gummi bear being pulled out of Oprah’s navel!

I will have to say, one thing I have real trouble with is how Hillary handled the firing of the White House Travel Office.

I knew one of the people fired and their lives were put through HELL. Their reputations were trashed, they were subjected to severe financial problems defending themselves against false charges, and their reputations nearly ruined.

Out of the blue, they were told they were fired, given boxes and like ten minutes to clear out their desks, put in the back of a panel truck and dumped onto the Ellipse where their cars were parked.

He said they all knew they served at the President’s pleasure and could be asked to leave at any time. There was no need to be subjected to what they were subject to. In the end, they were all vindicated.

    Kevin:

Excellent piece, as always. I’m wondering though, do you think that maybe others in the Dem party are floating this idea to send a message to Prez Bo that they are very unhappy with him, or that he needs to do something drastic in 2012? I can’t imagine Hillary ever wanting to be a VP to a failing President – to be part of the absolute WORST administration in American history. In fact, if she didn’t want to keep her hand in politics and stay in the spotlight a little, she wouldn’t be Sec of State. Or maybe they’re sending a message to Biden that his days are numbered? Perhaps that’s why he seems so desperate in his speeches these days, which causes even more of the idiotic gaffs he’s so famous for.

But the Dem party is famous for floating these little trial balloons in the press to gauge public reaction to an idea. Maybe they think the only way Obama can get reelected is if he has a strong running mate like Hillary.

Thanks for sharing your insight. I agree that Hillary would have made a far better leader than Obama, but because of how strongly I disagree with her politics, it doesn’t entirely make me sad that she lost. I think a Hillary presidency would have been much better positioned to actually create that permanent (or at least longstanding) Democrat majority of which Pelosi spoke.

The Obamas clearly rule with a chip on their shoulders and are driven by a deep resentment on a national and international level. I think Hillary shares with Obama a sense of wanting to help improve opportunities for those who are struggling and powerless, without wanting to tear down the sources of America’s strength.

Obama’s a totally different monster. I think the most telling statement he ever made was to sigh, “This is what change looks like in America.” I think he sees himself as some sort of modern-day Lincoln, impassively looking over a nation that he knows he’s hurting, because he truly believes the ends he dreams of justify his means. If Lincoln could endure leading his nation through a bloody civil war because of the importance of eradicating slavery and asserting the power of the federal government over the states, then certainly he can endure Tea Party protests, he can turn the other cheek when he’s called Hitler or a Muslim, he can “absorb a terrorist attack,” he can watch rich, old, WASP Republican angst, he can justify continued suffering and fear amongst the “bitter clingers,” because “this is what change looks like in America.” He’s not working to strengthen America, per se, he’s working to build a world that’s more equal for all people, all nations, and if that ruffles some flag-waving, Tea Party feathers, he doesn’t see that as a huge price to pay. They just don’t understand what it’s going to take and care more about their own needs than about helping others–that’s why he can have such contempt.

I think Hillary is more compassionate and has a much better sense of the breadth of American suffering. It is not limited to poor, urban minorities and immigrants. And I think she still values independence and self-determination in a way that he does not.

That said, I have to say that one of the things I like most about Chris Christie or Allen West types is how very much they are NOT “super sharp smartasses who f*** with people’s heads.” If one wants to embrace that style, that’s fine, and I’m sure it works wonders in certains circumstances, but then don’t cry sexism when people call you a bee-atch, ’cause if the shoe fits… Just sayin’.

Even with Hillary VP Obama will lose against Sarah.

We had already women VP nominees. The presidential nomination of Sarah Palin will be so HUGE that no Clinton can save Obama.

Even if Hillary accepts that final humilliation Palin has her winning card among Hispanics: Marco Rubio.
