You Didn’t Build That
“You Didn’t Build That” is a political meme originating on July 13th, 2012 when President Barack Obama told a crowd in Roanoke, Virginia that they didn’t build the small businesses they owned — the government did that for them. “You didn’t build that — somebody else made that happen”.
Immediately, the Left and irresponsible media tried to run cover for Obama, claiming “that’s out of context” or “he didn’t mean what he said” or “it was because there’s still residual drugs in his system from his college days” or whatever, but Obama definitely said “You Didn’t Build That!” and meant it.
One of the first signs of blowback against “You Didn’t Built That!” was, literally, a sign hung by Ray Gaster in front of his lumber company telling Barack Obama that he didn’t build Ray’s business and that the government isn’t responsible for his success…and in fact the government was an impediment to his success in many instances.
“You Didn’t Build That!” has legs and will be a driving force in this election.
The meme this inspired made us at HillBuzz.org think of Obama confiscating borrowing the time traveling phone booth from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure to teleport through time and space to shout “You Didn’t Build That!” at anyone and anything remarkable.
Here are some of the stops along the way…
