2012 Election
On this page we’ll collect information on the 2012 General Election, running from August 28th, 2012 (the day Mitt Romney was nominated and Paul Ryan officially became the VP pick) through November 6th when voters cast their ballots and decided the 2012 race. The entries will be compiled earliest to the newest, so the most recent information will be closer to the top of the page. This is meant as an effort to compile all of this information for anyone doing research in the future on the 2012 Romney vs. Obama race. As kind of an experiment, we’re going to close off each section once a week so that each little section is kind of a time capsule from that week in the race and see what unfolds during the 70 or so days between the Republican Convention in Tampa, through the Democrats’ Convention in Charlotte, and on through the rest of the election leading to November 6th.

Week Nine, General Election Campaign 10/24/2012 to 10/30/2012
* 10/29/2012 — For the first time, Rasmussen shows Romney winning the electoral college: though Rasmussen is lowballing things and showing only a Romney win of 279. I think it’s going to be Romney by at least 70-80 EVs and maybe even as high as 100 if Pennsylvania and Michigan go to Romney. We inching towards Media Credibility Day, where the pollsters try to seem accurate to save their reputations.
* 10/28/2012 — The oddly named “Hurricane Sandy” approaches the Northeast, which residents of New York and New Jersey in particular aren’t taking seriously because the hurricane is named “Sandy”. Storms like this should be called “Bruticus” or “Devastator” because then people would actually pay attention to evacuation warnings. Hearing “Bruticus” is on the way elicits a decidedly different response than “Sandy’s coming!”. Both Obama and Romney suspended their campaigns for 10/29 and 10/30 because they do not want to be seen as campaigning during a hurricane. Which is dumb, really, because we hold our elections during hurricane season. But both sides are terrified of the live visual of them making a speech somewhere while the east coast is being pummeled by a storm so big they’re calling it a “Frankenstorm”.
* 10/27/2012 — a lot of people buzzing about the Benghazi lies the Obama Regime keeps telling…particularly as more and more information comes out that requests for help were denied the day of the assault and that a Navy SEAL was using a laser-signaling device to order an airstrike…but someone refused to allow that airstrike to happen. David Petraeus at the CIA has come out and said that he didn’t order the airstrike to stand down, and there are only two people who could have (military brass or Obama himself). Why would they have ordered the airstrike not to happen when it could have saved Ambassador Stevens and the others in the consulate? This is a mystery that will not go away. The public at large is not talking about it but enough independents with connection to the military are concerned about it for it to be a back burner issue in their minds.
* An interesting look at Iowa voters who supported Obama in 2008 but won’t do that again in 2012.
* Colin Powell proved himself a racist today by endorsing Barack Obama again just because they share a similar skin color. That big scandal that Gloria Allred tried to gin up against Mitt Romney by trying to have the divorce records of the Staples’ founder unsealed went nowhere; Romney had testified in the divorce about stock options and it turned out that he told the truth and there was nothing wrong in what he did. So Gloria Allred and Democrats looked really stupid today. Another thing that made the Obama campaign look terrible was a video that went out called “Your First Time”, featuring a vulgar comedienne who compared voting for Obama to having sex for the first time. It caused a giant backlash against Obama online from female voters who are sick of Democrats painting them as unthinking, sex-crazed vagina monsters who want to kill all their babies.

* Political costume ideas for Halloween to show support for Romney/Ryan in subtle ways while going out and about to parties or other events.
* Donald Trump and Gloria Allred engaged in dueling silliness today; Allred tried to use Romney’s testimony for a friend in a 25 year old divorce case against him while Trump offered $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice if only Obama would release his transcripts and passport records. * 10/22/2012 — What to expect from the third and final presidential debate
* Walt Disney World in Florida is already working on Mitt Romney animatronic figure for the “Hall of Presidents” exhibit; first time that Team Disney Orlando has ever gone ahead with the process of making a figure before the election was decided since they are certain Romney will win. Source is an Imagineer with Disney.
* Donald Trump is going to shake things up (he says) by making a big announcement on Wednesday 10/24/2012…will it be about the Obamas’ Hawaii beach estate purchase for his post-presidential life?
* 10/22/2012 — How Saturday Night Live lampooned the second presidential debate between Romney and Obama (hint: they tried to make Romney look bad while making Obama seem tough, the way lefties want to perceive him).
* 10/21/2012 — taking a look at some of the bizarre things that Barack Obama has done in this election to distract from the fact that he’s offering no real plan for a second term: he got involved in a feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, he keeps talking about Big Bird, he’s trying to coin the lame word “Romnesia” (is that a thinly veiled race whistle for “Rhodesia”?), he tried to make “binders” a big thing (which I still don’t fully get, but it’s apparently bad that Mitt Romney demanded more female candidates in his Cabinet as Governor and groups he went to gave him binders full of resumes for people to pick), he constantly went on The View and other talk shows instead of meeting with world leaders or sitting down for actual interviews with serious people who would ask him tough questions. This is not a candidate who is winning an election and heading towards a second term.
* 10/20/2012 — Some food ideas for planning your Romney/Ryan victory party with menu items based on Massachusetts, Utah, Michigan, and Wisconsin favorites.
* Benghazi lies are unraveling for Obama. It’s clear that repeatedly Ambassador Chris Stevens asked for more security in Libya and the administration ignored him. Now it’s also apparent that drones saw what was happening at Benghazi and yet intelligence did not send any sort of help there. There’s so much the Obama regime is covering up on this. It’s stomach turning for most people. The third and final presidential debate on Monday 10/22/2012 will be a big deal because all of this Libya coverup will be talked about.
10/18/2012 — the first time that Mitt Romney had more EVs in the Real Clear Politics average of state polls…meaning, the first time that the Ministry of Truth couldn’t fudge results for Obama. Here’s the thing: Romney was always winning this, but in the months before the election Minitru was able to carry water for him by rigging the poll samples to give them the results they wanted. But, the closer to the election we get the more these pollsters need to get an accurate number out there so that they maintain future credibility. So, from now through the election they will attempt to say “things are moving in Romney’s direction”…when in reality, they were always with Romney but the pollsters did what Democrats wanted and fudged the results for Obama to make the Left happy.

Week Seven, General Election Campaign 10/10/2012 to 10/16/2012
* During this period of the race, Barack Obama kept bringing up Big Bird on the campaign trail…and he was mocked roundly for that. Democrats also kept trying to make abortion an issue, with screeching lefties going on about how much they love killing their unborn babies. This alienates independents and undecideds. It also alienates blacks from the Democrat party…which is unheard of, but between the killing of little babies and gay marriage the Democrats have discouraged blacks from voting BIG TIME. 2012 could see the smallest number of blacks voting for Democrats EVER.
10/10/2012 — Suffolk has stopped polling in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida because these are now safe Romney-wins states. If this is true, it’s hard to see how Romney does not win Ohio. The new battlegrounds are then Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. This means Obama has pretty much lost at this point and now all that’s left is to see just how bad a loss it will be for him.

Week Six, General Election Campaign 10/3/2012 to 10/09/2012
10/09/2012 — Democrats are looking terrible for two reasons right now: the nastiness and hatred focused on actress Stacey Dash because she is black and is going to vote for Romney and the whole Sesame Street debacle that has blown up in Obama’s face. It’s amazing how stupid Democrats are looking. Obama tried using Big Bird to attack Mitt Romney but instead just made himself look small and insignificant.
10/8/2012 — Even Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post is forced to admit that maybe Barack Obama was always so mediocre and that back in 2008 Minitrue was just working so hard to praise him that few in the media actually saw what an empty suit the guy really was — via Hotair. Also happening today: tons of stories breaking on the Obama campaign actively soliciting and accepting illegal foreign donations to his campaign (which is something they did in 2008, too, but got away with it because Minitrue would not report on it).
10/7/2012 — Saturday Night Live mocked Obama mercilessly for his terrible debate performance. This is the first time ever that SNL ever took hard punches at Obama. And they did it in the opening sketch (about the Debate), another sketch about MSNBC showering Obama with love, and then in Weekend Update.
10/6/2012 — Minitrue has been trying to spin the debate debacle as “Obama being tired”, “Obama not adjusting well to altitude”, and “Obama having other things on his mind than the debate”. Meanwhile, people are ripping the White House and Labor Department to shreds for fudging the unemployment data. People are not buying these numbers and calling it a political stunt. Meanwhile, people are also talking about the Fast & Furious and the Benghazi embassy coverups and seeing that the Obama administration is up to a lot of bad stuff. Romney, meanwhile, raised $12 million the two days after the debate.
10/5/2012 — the big story today was the doctored unemployment rate. To make Obama look better, the federal government hired a bunch of people so that the unemployment rate was lowered to under 8% for September. This is the last jobs report number we will have before the election. But already people are shooting holes in it because it does not reflect reality. Real unemployment is actually more around 11% and people know it. Obama and the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue) are fooling NO ONE.
10/4/2012 — even Obama’s sycophants in the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue) had to admit he lost the debate big time. There was a lot of gnashing of teeth and real anger from Democrats and their media spokespeople today because Obama committed an absolute disaster on the stage. New Yorker magazine lampooned it by bringing Clint Eastwood’s empty chair into its cartoon homage.
The first presidential debate of the election season was held in Denver on 10/3/2012 — Obama did HORRIBLY. Even his most ardent admirers in Minitrue couldn’t spin it into a positive for him. Watch for Democrats to try to hit back with something big and crazy to distract from this.
Obama’s support in Illinois is cratering…which does not mean Romney will win the state but means Obama’s having trouble fundraising here and that the state will be a much closer call than usual.

Week Five, General Election Campaign 9/26/2012 to 10/2/2012
* Another site doing poll analysis: Dave in Florida’s Poll Analysis. I linked it because I like how he expressed something, when he said that people who say Obama is ahead are just giving their opinion because they have nothing to really back that up with. If they try to cite polls, the polls they cite are riddled with errors and fraud. They just want Obama to be ahead but there’s no way to prove that and in fact everything anecdotal shows there’s no reason for Americans to be supporting his re-election. So any conservative writer who goes on an Eeyore trip over polls is accepting the Ministry of Truth’s apocryphal assumption that Obama “is winning” just because these people can’t imagine a reality where he loses.
* Democrats keep running away from the Benghazi attack and the murder of the Libyan Ambassador. There’s clearly a coverup, and though Minitrue won’t report on it the public is aware. Let’s see how this erodes support for Obama. Funny that during the Democrat Convention in Charlotte he was trying to paint himself as “a foreign policy president”.

* Media’s reporting these polls today: Gallup: 0 48% R 46% and Rasmussen: R47% and o46%. Remember to look at the sample sizes though. So far, the only pollster that’s showing remotely accurate party affiliation is Rasmussen. The others are skewing things FAR too much to Democrats in a deliberate effort to help Obama.
* GOP internals show Romney just one point behind Obama in Pennsylvania (but this is one state I just don’t think Democrats will lose UNLESS it really is a Mondale-level loss for Obama. If Pennsylvania would really prove to be in real play, that means the Obama has lost Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, etc. and now states that should be safely Democrat are falling. If PA was really in play, then so would be Michigan and possibly Oregon too). It sure is interesting…but will it be that big of a landslide for Romney?

* The Roots of Obama’s Rage– by Dinesh D’Souza; is a compelling narrative about the life events which may have shaped the ideology of Barack Obama. The book details how Obama’s childhood shaped the man today, and how his father – despite being largely absent – influenced young Barack back then, and influences him still. It discusses the nature of the world during Obama’s youth — namely, that he grew up viewing things through the lens of bitter anti-colonialism, and that forever shaped his world-view. The author’s primary thesis is that Obama views the USA as a colonial power, consuming too much of the world’s resources, imposing its will across the globe, and generally exploiting the third world for its own gain. * Shakedown Socialism– by Oleg Atbasian; details in seven concise chapters how certain things which are happening in the U.S. remind the author of things that happened in the USSR (where he grew up). Atbashian talks about how unions breed the concepts of communism and socialism. He talks about the lie of economic justice, and how forcing “equality” by rigging the economy will actually CREATE a financial crisis.
