ACTION ITEM: How to creatively nudge Independents and non-cultish Obama 2008 voters to recognize and internalize their disappointment in “The One”

Posted on July 30, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // 2012 Elections, 2012 Presidential Campaign, Action Items, Gold Team - Creativity, Hillbuzz, Sarah Palin, Tea Party, The American Reistance, The Left, Weaknesses

Have you been following Oprah’s seismic, schadenfreude-friendly, belly flop of failure that is the OWN (Oprah’s Weird Noises) network?

Despite Oprah personally investing nearly 20 hours each day inventing newer, even weirder noises to make (and both Gayle King and Stedman Graham on dedicated all-chili diets assisting her, with relish), OWN is watched by fewer people today than back when it was the Amish Carpentry Channel or the HD Paint Drying Network, whatever it was called before Oprah put her unique stamp on it and declared herself Empress Of All Paid Cable Television.

Oprah’s an empress without clothes, however — which is a horrifying and stomach turning thought in this particular case, as Oprah’s clothes bravely protect the world from so, so much — because the long-perpetuated-in-the-media conceit that everything this Charybdis touched turns to gold ended up being a lot more like rock pyrite. That’s fool’s gold.  Chicago swill. Winfrey’s windy folly.

The collapse of the Oprah brand extends to her O! magazine as well, with ad sales down the tubes and no apparent idea amongst longtime Oprah loyalists (or, more apt, cultists) on how to right what’s gone unexpectedly wrong.

Because Oprah as a brand thrived for almost three decades — weathering various scandals and tabloid nightmares ranging from that school in Africa Oprah founded that evidently succeeds only in abusing its students, the Oprah’s Book Club lapses in good judgment, and Oprah’s own rude and caustic behavior whenever out in public — it’s curious that, seemingly out of the blue, Oprah would alienate so many former fans.

But, it’s not a mystery if you realize this is 100% about Obama, and Oprah’s declaring him to be “The One” back in 2008, launching an incredibly racist effort on her part to elect an unexperienced and ill-prepared cipher to high office just because of the color of his skin.

Oprah was unsinkable until she embraced Obama and sold him to her viewers as a false messiah.

“The One”.

What she had meant to say was that Obama was “the one thing on Earth that could bring down Oprah herself”.

And just as Obama’s failure to deliver any of the hopeychange he sold like snake oil back in 2008 has irreparably damaged the Oprah brand, Oprah’s precipitous fall in public esteem reflects the disappointment and unease Americans have with Obama himself today.

The trick is getting people to, on a personal and individual level, admit to themselves that Obama disappointed them severely and has made their lives worse since becoming president.

People HATE admitting they are wrong. But, they will reflect on mistakes and vow on a personal level not to repeat them. Regardless if they ever tell another soul how they feel.

There are millions of voters out there who might never cast a vote for a Republican no matter who is on the ticket — but they can be persuaded to sit home and not vote at all, because they don’t want to leave their homes to vote Obama again in 2012.

We have a little more than a year in front of us to convince people to internalize their disappointment in Obama in a permanent way — the way they seemingly have with Oprah already, Obama’s famed endorser.

What ideas do you have for doing this, particularly in your own personal circles at the local level?

Kevin – It is SO wonderful to have you back posting! The wholly delicious way that you dispense common sense and truth just makes my day! : )

I saw thru the charade that is Oprah YEARS ago, even while many of my friends just couldn't stop watching – just like Teh One, she is a complete hypocrite, who was pushing her "just plain folks" humble pie attitude while getting richer all the time.

But, like Bambi, the MSM wouldn't call her out for her bad deeds because they also agreed with the humanist, utopian worldview that she was pushing…..

Now, they've both been shown to be the resentful, angry Marxists that many of us saw all along – the only question is how to keep that picture front and center for the next 15 months!

Somebody needs to say this — and often — so hear it comes: the other reason the media would not call Oprah out for any of her garbage is because she is black.

That is why Oprah is allowed to be so openly racist against whites…because she knows she will never be dressed down in the media for it, because the media will not ever criticize someone who is black. The really weird and sick thing about this is that the media does this because the media is racist itself and does not view black people as equals. That is why members of the media maintain a grossly lower standard of behavior for black people than for other races: because the racists on the Left have so lowered the bar for black people that anything short of endless praise and amazement for everything a black person does is considered RAAACIST. It’s also the way that adults treat very small children — no matter how terrible a drawing is or how much the little kid screwed something up, the child is praised for “a good try” and the parent feels good about her or himself for giving that praise and being so understanding of the little person in front of her or him that can’t do much right.

THIS is how the Left — and the media it controls — treats black people. They judge them by their skin and treat them like small children who must be constantly praised, lest the Left be scolded as parents.

      It’s really sick.

The entire Left needs endless therapy.

      Or a quick lobotomy.

      That’s covered under Obamacare, right?

It's also how the Left treats most Conservatives….as if we're so far below them on the IQ scale that we need their constant supervision and regulation. We saw it so clearly with the way Al Gore and John Kerry were lauded as brilliant over "dumb" George Bush, even though he had better grades. Then came the relentless attacks on Sarah Palin (by that mega intellectual Katie Couric), which continue to this day. Compare that with the near worship of Barry Soetero, who probably never pulled a grade higher than a C in his entire college career. Most physchologists believe that people who feel a constant need to put down other people, whom they recognize as successful, have low self esteem issues. And doesn't that just describe the political chattering class to a T?
Most people like to be associated with winners. If we all make an effort to calmly point out how badly everything has gone since the arrival of Teh One, and reference his snarky, demeaning attitude, people will naturally distance themselves from him because they don't want to back a loser. I am just waiting for the day when the media finally turns on him – it will be a beautiful thing to see!

Kevin, I agree with vikingmom. It IS GOOD to have you back and I laughed out loud when I read your description of Oprah. It seems that everything The One touches turns bad – reen Oprah's reputation. I wonder if the United States will survive this administration.

This nation, for all of its faults, has been a beacon of hope to so many people. It was established by people who loved liberty. These individuals were not perfect, but they sought a more perfect union and gave us the founding documents which led to us being the most prosperous nation on earth.

Years ago I read The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsay. It described the last days before the Lord's return. It certain feels like these are the last days, but I also see that, in Sarah, God is providing one last chance to have America turn to Him.

OMG, Kevin, whenever you do an Oprah roast I'm on the floor. I HATE that woman.
And I agree with your analysis of why the media won't go after her: because she is black.

The Left thinks they are superior to everyone, especially black people. Your description of how they treat them like children is spot on.
But then again, you're always spot on in your analysis of everything.
    That's why we love you!

    >>The trick is getting people to, on a personal and individual level, admit to themselves that Obama disappointed them severely and has made their lives worse since becoming president.

This is the key. And I have a plan. I met a Korean immigrant who votes Democrat mainly because he's gay and that's the habit (also, in my opinion, because Republicans can be flat-out dumb about communicating about and with gay people). Anyway, his small business in Los Angeles is about to fold because of over-regulation, high prices, excessive taxation, the whole liberal enchilada. He nearly cried one day when he had to resort to some free medical services for himself; he sees himself as self-made and self-sufficient, and to have to go and beg for government largesse was a moment of humiliation.

I'm a bit of an amateur journalist myself (worked in Chinese television for a year and a half and published a long expose on Newsmax on Chinese censorship) and I intend to interview him for a long profile about Obama voters who might be having second thoughts. After his conversation with me, I guarantee he'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends . . .

This is a VERY interesting idea.

I bet a lot of people could do this where they live, but we need to get help with the following:

      (1) How to teach people some good interviewing skills
      (2) How to help people be less intimidating by the prospect of going up to strangers and talking to them
      (3) How to control the dialogue with someone like the man you mentioned, so he feels comfortable speaking about these things and gives you honest answers but the whole thing does not end up into an emotionally fueled attack either on Obama or the interviewer/ee.

With that last one, what I am trying to get across is that it really does take some skill to be able to speak to most of the general public about politics. In a lot of situations, a percentage of people — especially on the Left — get VERY NASTY and defensive whenever any criticism of Obama is even hinted at. And then they go on the attack.

So, it really does take some skill to be able to get someone to talk about having these second thoughts without that person feeling they are being attacked or that they need to go on the attack as the Left directs them.

Any good tips you could share for facilitating a discussion like this Arhooley?

I think this is something that everyone can do at least once a day whenever they leave the house, if they get in the habit of it.

the left wing loonies are the same in Australia. You cannot criticize Østupid just because the dumbo is black.

As for Oprah, well our govt via the Tourism dept wasted more than $500 million on a promotion involving that women. Tourism to Australia has not increased. It was ill-timed and it was the wrong person.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, Kevin.

One thing that's very helpful I find is telling them what I am: an ex-Democrat. They know I've been through a certain intellectual process, that I know where they're coming from. I don't make the whole thing about me, but this does establish a certain comfort level.

Another thing important for any interviewer is to exercise genuine curiosity and let the other person tell their story. Let one question lead to another. Get to the bottom of every point where you're plain ignorant. If the other person hits a wall where they simply haven't made up their mind yet, leave it at that. Ambivalence and confusion are legitimate intellectual states. In fact, they can be seen as transitional.

To give an idea of how I do a personal profile, you can read my profile of a Marine Corps chopper pilot at http://www.schwartz-family.net/davidsgoingback.ht…. My goal in that profile was to never use the word "I" except in quoting my subject.

I'm going to contact my other acquaintance today about doing an interview. I'll try to get it published in the LA Weekly or Newsmax or wherever I possibly can. I'll let you know of my progress.

This would be a suitable project not only for amateur or professional journalists, but really for anyone who blogs. Do you know someone who's having second thoughts about their vote for Obama?

Kevin, you and Arhooley put your heads together and brainstorm some kind of simple curriculum/guidelines/pointers for this concept and put it into an easily comprehensible format. We'll find a way to make it go viral.

I've been consumed with this angle myself: not only come up with good ideas of things we all should be able to do, but document the thought process in such a way that others can learn from our mistakes/experience. I've been writing to my congressman through this whole debt ceiling crisis, and I took one letter as an opportunity to turn up a tutorial for anyone who needs help with this kind of stuff: http://themouthofbabes.blogspot.com/2011/07/make-…

I would watch the Amish Carpentry Channel (the only channel not watched by the people on the channel). As for Oprah, it's nice to have someone say the truth about her. Her "engagement " to Stedman is laughable and she seems to relish her influence over pop culture in a really strange way. History is littered with those who thought themselves unstoppable. Oprah, join the crowd.

The key in mass mind manipulation or single mind manipulation is always let them believe that it's their revelation and not your manipulation…

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized."

    Kevin, J'adore.
    Your analysis is impeccable.
Oprah followed a time honored tradition, from Hollywood to Washington, DC, liberals who want to earn a living cater to the middle. The very liberal Spielberg and Hanks know that (regardless of their screaming eagle liberal ideals) they must play to the American people, or lose at the box office. Saving Private Ryan was not as liberal as Private Benjamin.

Bill Clinton knew that he could not hope for a 2nd term if he stayed camped-out on the left. His "new Democrat" ways were to "run to the middle" (and with the help of a conservative 3rd party) he captured enough votes to stay in office.

Oprah built her stone-solid facade on being a black woman who was not "black" but American. She stacked her audience with lots of white women, and with whatever hispanic and asian women she could find inside the studio stockade, filled out to capacity with black women, (while most of the black women who wanted to attend were turned away), especially on her annual "big give away" shows.

Oprah pretended to be "one of us." She pretended to be a color-blind centrist, who was for solid American values. Her thinly disguised "beard" of Stedmann has now fallen off, and with her over-the-top declarations of "The One" and his deity, Oprah has revealed herself to America as who she really is, and she is not "my next door neighbor" or my "quirky cousin" or my "hip friend" but instead as a rabid foaming-at-the-mouth liberal who will tolerate no discussion that does not agree with her and her liberal viewpoint.

Watching her O.W.N. with my partner, I see a control-freak megalomaniac named Oprah surrounded by cowering sycophants who dare not have an original thought in her presence. I see Oprah unveiled as the biatch that she hid from us so well for so many years.

The American public is [people are] patient, but not stupid.
    Oprah, your gig is up.

    Kevin, you're The Man!

Kevin, I've missed your posts so much. Your absence was like the time Coke disappeared from the shelves and I had to make do with Pepsi (yech! phooey!). Good to have you back.

Oprah is poster child for the Black Scam; an edifice of lies of which she was (literally) one of the biggest, tricking millions into thinking she wasn't racist. The irony is that her spectacular fall wouldn't have been possible without her incredible success. Rewarding her hidden racism with so much wealth and power tricked her into thinking white people didn't care about her bigotry; the reality, however, was that they didn't know. That ignorance ended when she endorsed Obama. He exposed her for what she really was – and now she's living with the consequences. Say goodnight, Oprah – the scam is over.

      BTW…

      "Oprah’s O Magazine Sees Ads Drop 31.4 Percent * 7/23/11

"But while most publications regained their footing in September, O's ad pages for that month were still 18 percent down from last year. Staggering as those numbers are, fleeing advertisers may signal a more distressing exodus of readers…."

Let's read that again…."fleeing advertisers may signal a more distressing exodus of readers…."

BINGO and that is why ad dollars are FLEEING in the 1st place!

If someone wants to complain about the spending/debt ceiling. I will say "yes, that is a big problem, but not the biggest problem, mostly our out of control spending is a symptom. The root cause is that we have such a corrupt government we are in this mess to begin with. None of them have been good stewards with the people's money. __Another one. I'm not good enough at debate to argue about Obamacare, point out instead how flawed our voting system is, and how it could have been repaired years ago. Everyday in this country there is probably a million people who use debit cards, credit cards, unemployment cards, food stamp cards, welfare cards, and our government can't get us fair and free elections? They shouldn't be allowed to run a lemonade stand until they can get this one fundamental thing right. Until then, they have no business being in the healthcare business.

Apparently I wasn't the only one who felt this way because ratings were dropping and so Oprah decided to Become Serious. What a phony and what a bore. That woman has such a Messiah complex. What a curse that woman has been to our great Nation in every possible way. So glad OWN is GONE…almost.

Oprah has been the greatest enabler of America's obesity epidemic. She presents 400 lb people to her gawker audience and demends simpathy for them. While Oprah zombies cry for these over indulgent irresonsible fools I cry for those who have no food to eat. Oprah has also explouted the personal family problems of innocent children by parading them in fron of her audience like circus freeks. I althought that should be illegal. Perhaps some of those children who are now adults should sue Oprah for using them in such a despictable mannor. Oprah is a Pagan. Why do they try to pass themselves off as Christian. They certainly are not fooling any real Christian.
I am so glad the Oprah era is over. Between Oprah and The View, American woman have become increasingly stupid and self defeating. Oprah needs to go away and shut up!
