80s video game iotacons of the current Supreme Court Justices
Andy Rash makes these retro mini-portraits of people using simple, 8-bit graphics…like those found in 80s video games. They’re called iotacons, and here’s his rendition of the Supreme Court, the way they would be depicted in a late-Atari/early-Nintendo game when I was a kid.
“The Wise Latina” and newly-minted Justice Kagan are on the right (which is unusual for them, since they’re solidly on the Left in everything else).
Can you identify the rest of the Justices?
How darling does Ginsburg look?
I would kind of love to have these made into plush couch pillows, Ugly Doll-sized.
Never has the Supreme Court been this adorable…especially Justice Thomas.

Hey look it is Sgt. Schultz on the far right hand side.
I always loved him on Hogan's Heroes.
Do you remember Hogan's Alley, the old Nintendo game?
I haven't thought of that in years, but you made it pop into my head just now. It was a target practice game where you had to zap bad guys in a gangster world using this light gun you bought separately for Nintendo (used for Duck Hunt too).
Totally random little bit of 80s nostalgia here.
I had not heard of Hogan's Alley. I never was much of a gamer. Donkey Kong – the old original arcade game and the Atari version was my favorite game. After the old Atari systems, I never played anymore – till this year. I have bought several gaming systems this year and played some lately to see what I has missed.
Oh my God! Totally forgot that game. Used to love ExciteBike too, oh and Metroid.
So right about this depiction of Ginsberg.
Clarence Thomas is towards the middle, and next to him is Ruth Bader Ginsberg with her glasses.
Here is a trick that might work. If you can walk far enough away from your screen, they will actually start to look like real photos, aka, objects are not what they seem.
har, har, har.
