41 Days Later, Obama Still Hasn't Solved the Gulf Oil Spill Problem (but finds time to go on vacation…again)
Can someone please explain to us — because we really and truly do want to know — why Obama has not solved the Gulf Oil Spill Problem yet?
In 2008, the Media and DNC told America to push Hillary Clinton to the side, because her experience and proven competence didn’t matter, because Obama was “unique” and “special” and “could do anything”. He was “The Lightbringer”, “The One”, and he was sold as a bill of goods that could magically solve all of our problems.
In the general election, the Media and the DNC told America to push John McCain to the side, because his experience and years of service to this country didn’t matter, because Obama was “unique” and “special” and would usher in a Golden Age of Hope and Change.
Well, when does that start, exactly?

Sure looks like a bird covered in oil that should be chirping a happy song somewhere, perched on the horn of a unicorn, according to what the Media and DNC promised of the Obama presidency.

For all the palaver about what a wonderful thing Obama did in becoming a “community organizer” rather than using his law degree in a job at a “high-priced law firm,” does it strike anyone that maybe Obama is just lazy as dirt and couldn’t handle a real job with real responsibilities at a law firm of any size? If he was as disconnected and ineffectual with law clients as he is as president, he would have been fired in a heartbeat.
JF – that’s a darn good point! I put my first husband through law school, and his first job required a minimum of 50 billable hours a week – in reality, that meant 65 or more hours a week of real work.
I don’t see President Whines-a-lot working more than maybe 20 hours a week. Can’t miss that golf or basketball!
That’s about EXACTLY what happened. The first several years of a new lawyer’s work at a prestigious firm is VERY
HARD and demands an insane amount of time. Your life is your work basically for those first several years. We’ve all seen how he plays fast and loose with the facts. There’s no bullshitting your way through those first years in a big firm.
I’ve long come to the conclusion that he either couldn’t produce quality work and they told him he wasn’t cutting it and / or he couldn’t handle the work load so he quit.
I’ve seen nothing in his performance as president which indicates he is capable of the demands placed upon him at a prestigious firm in terms of either quality or quantity of labor.
Neither of them got their law license renewed. I’ve heard they were refused, don’t know what she did but he lied on his application stating he did not go by any other name and also did not disclose his outstanding tickets. Great, huh, free schooling, all on our dime.
I’ve seen something about that before. Seems like there’s something about one or both of them surrendering their licenses and under what circumstances a surrender is allowed vs. inactive status, but I really don’t remember.
I also have seen something –where I don’t remember, but apparently he didn’t have any work ethic whatsoever and those who had the “pleasure” of working with him remember him as a lazy do-nothing. She is remembered as one who wanted to be treated as the second coming of Nefertiti; again without doing any actual work. Apparently the reasons these two don’t have law licenses is sealed–like most of the rest of their records.
Nelly, if we’re thinking of the same sources, I believe that was referring to his work as a part time lecturer at U of Chicago and the people who were commenting about his being lazy were actual professors remembering that a politician had called up and said “create” a position for him and give him an office.
No–this was specifically his “work” in his first years at a law firm. I am not surprised, however, that this pattern held during his time at the U of Chicago nor that it is holding now. Isn’t it wonderful having an Affirmative Action First Couple??
Regarding that law degree: I read somewhere that he had lost his right to practice law. Can someone verify this and the reasons why?

These two have put a very large nail in the coffin of affirmative action and have set blacks back 40 years or more. What a miserable example they set.

After it was over, I like probably the vast majority of Americans, hoped the best for, of, and from him and gave him my support despite my misgivings.

This oil spill is just a metaphor for this entire administration…gushing trillions of dollars down ratholes, soiling our relationships with our long-time allies, in general fouling America.

1. Write a letter to the editor decrying how he his incompetance has fowled the waters, and poisoned the Gulf.
2. Send articles to your friends that explain how poorly he’s doing and why it matters to them.
3. Make sure everyone with a home amongst your family and friends know that if they are fortunate enough to sell it in this market, they will be paying a 3.8 percent tax on the sale. Yep. And that is in the….WAIT FOR IT…Health Care bill. So, they will lose any profit or perhaps even more money on a sale of their home to pay for other people’s health care.
That’s a start.

If they can’t cap that well and we keep seeing oil in the marshes of the Gulf states and on pristine beaches, his numbers will be in negative territory if he goes on another vacation. There’s a tipping point. He’s reached it. GW Bush never recovered from Katrina. Carter never recovered from the hostage crisis that he couldn’t fix. Politicians have a finite time line to fix a problem. He has past his.
All he had to do was to waive any environmental impact study so that the sand booms could be built. However, I believe that he wants this catastrophe to get really bad.
He has already rescinded the drilling licenses. What will he do next? Will it be his push for crap n tax?

I actually saw one leftist site claiming that anyone who objected to a community organiser being POTUS hated non whites and the poor. It was around this stage I started putting distance between myself and the left.
Even though I do not get to vote in the USA – because I am not an American citizen – yes I have been thinking that if Palin was vice president that the pollution in LA would not be happening. Palin would have been moving heaven and earth to ensure that this did not happen.
The vacant one (that is what cerebral means? haha) knows manure all about anything. We do not even have proof that he graduated as Magna cum Laude at Harvard. We have no proof of his grades. We have no proof that he graduated from Columbia.
His lack of experience is so very obvious.
I posted (on another forum) that if Obama had had any brains at all, he would have phoned the Gov. within a week of this happening, asking her to head up a task force to oversee things. This would have put her in an awkward position of serving the nation, using her expertise, or turning him down.
This would have had the net effect of putting duct tape on her, from now until the elections. Also preventing her from campaigning around the country and raising money.
If she would have failed to straighten this out, he could have blamed it on her. But there was also the chance that she could have been successful, exposing all the corruption that the Dems have been involved with as far as Big Oil goes.
He couldn’t take that chance, and here we are, sadly.
longsuffering, yes, the first person BO should have called was Sarah Palin. Remember that part of her experience is being on Alaska’s Oil & Gas Conservation Commission. As governor, she went toe-to-toe with Big Oil and forced them live up to their contracts and also reworked how the state of Alaska got paid for their oil.
The reason that BO didn’t is the same reason that he’s blocking Bobby Jindal. He can’t have a Republican look good and succeed. It’s all about politics with him.
But if they called Palin, that would be a tacit admission that she had something to offer, and wasn’t a complete moron. They’d rather let the Gulf Coast die than give her any more power.
All I know is the guy has been reaching for the next rung on the ladder all his adult life. If he stayed in a job for 5 years and actually accomplished real, concrete things that matter, I am not aware of them. He seems to have gotten up so high in life not by doing anything, but somehow having that aura around him as a guy ‘going places.’ People just cleared the path for him. And now, we have the consequences of that – he is completely incompetent when the country desperately needs a leader.
Cap & Trade folks that’s the endgame. He’s not incompetent, his goal is to destroy the USA and he and his minions are very good at putting that plan in motion.

The leak is at about 3000 ft down. The “crush depth” of a Navy Nuclear sub is about 2400 ft. It would take a specialized vehicle such as the submersible that went down to the Titantic. This is why this is a difficult fix. The incredible pressure at that depth. Also take into account the force behind the leak. You have probably seen the videos of the oil pour out and straight up, imagine how much force is pushing against the pressure of the seawater at that depth. While I am not a oil, mining or marine engineer (I am an aerospace engineer) I can tell you this will not be easy to plug.
So what if I know an inventor who is trying to get BP to look at his patented plan to stop the leak, and no one will pay attention to him? What does that say?

If the MSM could, they would have helped him hide the oil spill problem, but because the spill is not stopping and we can see the damage on youtube, blogs news, etc. and because it is affecting VIP’s, such as Carville’s, backyards, that’s why they can’t hide these news and still excuse The Fraud that is Obama.

One of the top media consultants for British Petroleum gave free rent to a politician who became White House Chief of Staff. The recipient of the favor was Rahm Emanuel and the benefactor was Stanley Greenberg. Stanley Greenberg is an interesting guy. He is married to CT Democratic Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a close ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Greenberg is the principal of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a large polling and public relations firm. They do both political campaign work and “corporate communications” work. The DCCC has paid Greenberg’s firm in excess of $500,000 during the 2006 and 2008 election cycles. They are also Dick Blumenthal’s pollster.
But let’s look at the corporate side, where Mr. Greenberg promises to “help corporations increase competitiveness and profitability, improve reputation, and take advantage of global trends.”
Who are they helping? British Petroleum
Greenberg Quinlan Rosner helped BP plan and evaluate its successful re-branding campaign, focusing the company’s branding on energy solutions, including the development of solar and other renewable energy sources.

Obama, like most liberals, don’t really feel anything for the poor or any of their many other victim classes and causes they purport to stand up for. These microbes do exist. I remember these stories. I have had products in the past that do this. The microbes came in a small packet and when you were ready to use it you mixed it into the bottle of solution. You could pour it on a oil spill on the driveway to clean it up. Worked.
The reason, I suspect that this company is having a hard time getting through to anyone is that people are earning huge money on this continuing to be a disaster. We must get our heads out of the sand and face the horrible reality of this unspeakable level of corruption.

Obama is not a problem solver. He is a problem creator. He knew that he wasn’t cut out to be president, but he ran for office anyway. He’s a loser. Although I’m no fan of Obama’s, I can’t blame him for not solving the problem of the oil leak. He’s a politician; this is a real problem and requires engineers- people who understand physics, chemistry and geology.
What I can fault Obama for is his obvious lack of concern for the problem, for not turning loose the resources to reduce the problem (i.e., build sand bars to protect the beaches), for claiming a premature success for his press conference and for using this disaster to advance his twin agendas of immolation of the economy and destruction of any possibility of the US becoming energy self-sufficient.
What you state is partly true… but you left out all of the things that the Feds were supposed to do when the disaster took place. This includes making sure that the booms were sent to the gulf immediately, not 2 weeks later… it also includes waiving the environmental impact study so that the sand booms can be built. On top of that the fishing fleet people should have been given the go ahead for their tasks instead of the unnecessary drug testing and whatever other delays have been imposed.
Another thing that could have been done immediately was to set fire to the oil when it first began to spill after the explosion.
All of these things were the kind of things that the White House could have controlled from the beginning. However Steven Chu is such a total dickhead and that Carol Browner or whatever her name is totally incompetent…. and the incompetence goes all the way to the top!!

I agree that there were many things the Feds could have/should have done to mitigate the situation. I just believe that using the word “solve” improperly leads to expectations that cannot be fulfilled. This was true for Bush with Katrina and is true for Obama. He is of the party that believes that bigger government is better government and that it can solve any problem. Maybe he did not personally cause the problem, but those of his ilk that forced drilling miles offshore and more than a mile deep instead of allowing companies to drill on land and closer to shore caused this problem. They cannot regulate drilling out to the middle of the ocean and then take a “hands off” approach when something goes horribly wrong. Time to hold them to their own standards — even if it is not what we believe. They are the ones who say government is the answer — now we say “prove it.”
I’m tired of the argument that we cannot treat the left to a taste of their own medicine because then we’re no better than they are. WAKE UP PEOPLE — the left does not play fair: they will lie, cheat and steal to get what they want and it will never change. Having been born and raised in north Florida and having most of my family spread throughout the south from Texas to South Carolina, I have no words for the political machine today. It is now rolling across the southern waters of the gulf and washing up on the pristine beaches of the parts of this great country I love the most. I am sickened.
I lived in Miami all my life and now live in NE Florida. I too am sickened as this can only get worse. I heard BP was going to cut off the top part of the pipe and try to cap the spill. They also said that 20% more oil will be gushing. I think Jindal should go ahead with the sand bar and sue BP for the damage that is still being done.
When I see the video of the oil spewing out into the ocean, I feel a helplessness that I have never felt before. I am a fighter but this one has me on the ropes. With the incompetence and political posturing that is on full display this feels like going into battle with a plastic tank and a handful of two inch soldiers to fight a real-life Godzilla.

“Sorry, we cannot grant a departure on the BOP test further than when you get the well under control,” wrote Frank Patton, a minerals agency official. “After further consideration,” Trocquet wrote, “an extension is approved to delay the BOP test until the lower cement plug is set.””
