Paul/Palin 2012?
As you all know, I’m a Ron Paul supporter. Have been for years. However, I also love Sarah Palin. I love that she took on the corruptocrats in Alaska–in both parties–and won. I love how she sold the governor’s jet on eBay. I love how she raised five kids while running a huge state. And I love how she leads the media around by the nose. But most of all, I love how she makes Leftists like Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann explode into misogynistic frenzies and reveal themselves as the raging hypocritical sexists that they are.
Sarah Palin has a track record of kicking ass, taking names, and not giving a sh*t what the Democrat-controlled media thinks.
Just like Ron Paul.
There are ongoing efforts by Sarah Palin supporters to get her to reconsider her decision to not run for president. However, I personally think it’s a moot point. She has missed the deadlines to appear on the ballot in several of the important early caucuses and primaries….as the presidential candidate.
But VP candidates don’t “run” for the office of Vice President in the primaries. They’re put on the ticket relatively late in the game.
So lately I’ve been having this secret fantasy about a Ron Paul/Sarah Palin ticket. I don’t know how much they have interacted, but she has supported his economic views on several TV appearances…and like Ron Paul, she has the cojones to wade into the cesspit that is Washington, D.C. and clean house. She was relentless in cutting graft and corruption in Alaska, so I imagine she’d be pretty good at it in Washtingon, too.
And this election is going to be all about the economy. Every single poll that has come out in the last 12 months shows that the American people are screaming, “It’s The ECONOMY, STUPID!” The only real objection most conservatives have to Ron Paul is his non-interventionist foreign policy. It would be interesting to hear Sarah Palin’s take on it, given her son Track’s military service.
The Democrat-Controlled Media is obsessed with Sarah Palin. They can’t stop talking about her. But their strategy in dealing with Ron Paul is to pretend that he doesn’t exist. (A Pew Research Center poll revealed that Rick Perry gets the most media coverage, and Ron Paul gets the least.)
So I think it’s interesting to ponder on how the media could pile on to Sarah Palin, while simultaneously never mentioning the man at the top of the ticket.
Here are just a few things Sarah Palin and Ron Paul have in common:
Ron Paul and Sarah Palin are both pro-life. They’re both people of faith. They both have incredibly strong families.
They both appear to be fundamentally decent and kind people, and clearly, they both love America.
They’ve both run for office numerous times before, and presumably, any possible skeletons have been dragged out into the sunshine.
They both have rabidly enthusiastic bases of support. Easily the most energized volunteers.
And both of them care more about their families and American than politics or running for re-election. However, both have learned to work with principled Democrats.
Both Ron Paul and Sarah Palin are hated by the Cocktail Party GOP. Both Ron Paul and Sarah Palin are loathed by the Democrat-Controlled Media.
Neither Ron Paul nor Sarah Palin would spend a moment pandering to either one.
So here’s my question for you, Dear Reader. What are the flaws in my fantasy football Dream Ticket? Let’s do some armchair vetting (which is more than Obama got in 2008).
How could the Paul/Palin ticket encourage GOP and Independent turnout? How could it suppress Obama/Biden turnout?
If Ron Paul announced Sarah Palin as a running-mate, would you vote for him in the primary?
Would you vote for Ron Paul and Sarah Palin in the general election?
What kind of attacks could they expect from the Cocktail Party?
What kind of attacks could they expect from the Democrat-Controlled Media?
What kind of attacks could they expect from Obama? How would they react?
I’d love to hear your take on this, Sarah Palin fans!
