TAKE ACTION: Graphic needed to depict Jon Huntsman as the Obama puppet he really is

Posted at September 12, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Cocktail Party GOP, Gold Team - Creativity, Hillbuzz, The Soggy Sandwich Society

Can you come up with some creative ways to use the image above to make it clear that Obama and the DNC are pushing Jon Huntsman to lay the groundwork for a Ross Perot style vainglorious third party presidential run next year — designed to split the conservative vote enough for Obama to squeak to re-election?

How about using the above picture to show Obama using strings or rods to control Huntsman, like Huntsman is a Muppet.

It sure seems like Huntsman has been promised he’ll be the next Secretary of State if he spoils enough votes away from Republicans to allow Obama to be re-elected.

He’s been an ambassador three times, and full of himself his entire life. He’s got more money than he knows what to do with and not much common sense.  He’s also a Democrat with an (R) after his name and quite willing to do whatever Obama and the Left want so long as it aggrandizes himself.

I’d love to capture all of this in an image to use for Huntsman consistently throughout the year ahead, so that his motives and machinations become clearer to people who aren’t paying enough attention to what’s happening.

Mittens and Perry Spoofed In New Ron Paul Ad

Posted at September 12, 2011 by Kathleen Gee // 2012 Elections, Cocktail Party GOP, Tea Party, The Soggy Sandwich Society

This fantastic new TV ad created by a Ron Paul PAC pokes both the Cocktail Party Establishment and the LSM right in the eye. I am convinced that this is the type of edgy, funny ad that can make Independents–especially in the under-35 crowd– stop and think.

Warning: If you can’t stand to see Cocktail Party GOP candidates lampooned, don’t watch. If you can’t stand Ron Paul, don’t watch. All whiney, Eeyorish comments containing the word “unelectable” will be deleted.

TAKE ACTION CREATIVE ITEM: “Republicans: Not as evil as you think” brainstorming

Posted at September 12, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Conservativism, Gold Team - Creativity, Hall of Heroes, Hillbuzz

Back in 2008, I actually came up with a slogan for the Republican Party that I’ve tried giving them for two years now, and nobody ever wanted to do anything with it.

I think it’s something we could have a lot of fun with, so I’ve decided just to run with it here on HillBuzz.org to see what our more creative readers can come up with to fit the theme.

The slogan is:

Republicans: Not as evil as you think

ACTION: Need a fun, cartoonish, vibrant fox image for something we’re creating

Posted at September 12, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Gold Team - Creativity, Hillbuzz

Does anyone know of any fun, cartoonish, vibrant fox images that are in the spirit of the pic above?

This fox is in the style and has the energy I need for a project we’re working on, but it’s just not quite right. The tail needs to curl upwards and I’d like to see more of the face, hopefully with an expression that shows a clever, feistiness.

I really need an image of an orange fox that has the same cartoonish-ness as the HillBuzz.org “bee” — that you can see in the banner at the top of the site. I want the fox to look like it exists in that same world and could be friends with that bee. In a world where bees and foxes are friends and solve mysteries together or something.

Because I have absolutely zero artistic ability, I have to cobble together everything I do piecemeal like this, and I usually get there (eventually), but this time I’m stumped on a good fox to use that would work well in the universe of the HB bee.

Can you spend a little time and look for such a fox for us?  We’d appreciate it! Either insert a link in this thread or send to HillBuzz@gmail.com.  Thanks!

HillBuzz Open Thread: September 12th, 2011

Posted at September 12, 2011 by Justin4HB // Featured Content, Open Threads

2005 – Hong Kong Disneyland opens in Penny’s Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. I am totally taking this as a cosmic shoutout to our good friend Penny in California who lives not far from Disneyland there.  She’s working on a great essay you’re going to love this week, by the way.

1959 – Premiere of Bonanza, the first regularly scheduled TV program presented in color. My grandmother loved watching this show, and pointing to everyone on it saying, “Yup, he’s dead now”.  “Her? She’s dead”. “The guy who played the cook, dead, and the fat one, he’s been dead a long time.  That horse is dead now too, obviously”.  It makes me wonder if I’ll be watching old episodes of Facts of Life or something fifty years from now, telling anyone who will still listen to me about Blair, Tootie, Natalie, Joe, and Mrs. Garrett all being dead in that far away, depressing as all get out future.

1952 – Strange occurrences, including a monster sighting, take place in Flatwoods, West Virginia. Seriously, though, when AREN’T monsters being sighted in Florida?  A friend of ours lives there, and she’s always reporting alligators in the giant pool in her condo complex.  Twice, she’s been swimming, turned around, there ahead of her a few yards is a giant alligator that’s scared her close to death. Yet, she keeps swimming in the pool…and keeps living so close to prehistoric monsters that can eat her. Just about the worst thing we have in the wilds of Chicago are union members.

1940 – Cave paintings are discovered in Lascaux, France. What we today call “graffiti” could in a few millennia be, thus, considered historic “art”.

490 BC – Battle of Marathon: The conventionally accepted date for the Battle of Marathon. The Athenians and their Plataean allies, defeat the first Persian invasion force of Greece. This is so totally not a cheap and easy excuse for me to run a pic of a super hot dude in cosplay based on the movie 300, which was about the Greeks defeating the Persians all over the place.  This really happened, in history, today, and has nothing at all to do with a hot guy in a cape.

What are people in your town talking about today?

What are you doing this week to get yourself ready to be part of the 2012 campaign?

TAKE ACTION: Please consider writing a letter or a postcard to Governor Sarah Palin asking her to run for president. If you need an example of how to write a letter or postcard, here are some we did here at HB.

Sending a postcard is great because you can make it personal by using a postcard showing a local landmark, or maybe a family photo if you want to share something special with the Governor when you ask her to run.

Remember:  you will never regret writing the Governor to ask her to run for president, but if you think there’s any chance you will be sorry you DIDN’T write her…then please do!

Here’s the address(es) you need:

The Office of Sarah Palin

Wasilla, Alaska 99687

– or –

Governor Sarah Palin

PO Box 871235

How I Will Always Remember George W. Bush

Posted at September 11, 2011 by Kathleen Gee // Conservativism, Essays - Conservativism

I’m a libertarian, so I’ve always had plenty of policy differences with George W. Bush. But no matter his big-spending failings, I have never for a moment doubted that George W. Bush and his luminous wife Laura love the United States of America with their whole hearts and souls.

This news story encapsulates everything that was right about President George W. Bush, and everything that is wrong with the current Narcissist-In-Chief.

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. This is that picture:

During his visit to the Golden Lamb Inn in Lebanon, President Bush stops to hug Ashley Faulkner, who lost her mom in the Sept. 11 attacks.

George W. Bush hugs Ashley Faulkner. (Photo by Lynn Faulkner via the Cincinnati Enquirer)

As reported in the Cincinnati Enquirer on May 6, 2004,

“In a moment largely unnoticed by the throngs of people in Lebanon waiting for autographs from the president of the United States, George W. Bush stopped to hold a teenager’s head close to his heart.

Lynn Faulkner, his daughter, Ashley, and their neighbor, Linda Prince, eagerly waited to shake the president’s hand Tuesday at the Golden Lamb Inn. He worked the line at a steady campaign pace, smiling, nodding and signing autographs until Prince spoke: “This girl lost her mom in the World Trade Center on 9-11.”

Bush stopped and turned back. “He changed from being the leader of the free world to being a father, a husband and a man,” Faulkner said. “He looked right at her and said, ‘How are you doing?’ He reached out with his hand and pulled her into his chest.”

Faulkner snapped one frame with his camera. [...]

“The way he was holding me, with my head against his chest, it felt like he was trying to protect me,” Ashley said. “I thought, ‘Here is the most powerful guy in the world, and he wants to make sure I’m safe.’ I definitely had a couple of tears in my eyes, which is pretty unusual for me.”

“I’m a pretty cynical and jaded guy at this point in my life,” Faulkner said of the moment with the president. “But this was the real deal. I was really impressed. It was genuine and from the heart.”"

Thank you, Mr. President, for your concern, compassion and human decency.

HillBuzz Open Thread: Sunday September 11th, 2011

Posted at September 11, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Featured Content, Hillbuzz, Open Threads

Please use today to do something good in the world. Be there for someone who needs you.

Call up a friend you’ve lost touch with. Reach out to someone you’re estranged from. Go outside, feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, walk across the street and introduce yourself to a neighbor you’ve never met. Be human and real and loving and unapologetically American.

If you want to use this thread to remember where you were when you heard about the 9/11 attacks, you can — but I’m going to use this 10th anniversary of that horrible day to create a new 9/11 tradition.

I’m going to celebrate a beloved friend who was murdered that day by pumping as much good into the world today as I possibly can. Justin and I are going to help take meals to people who need them, and we’re going to spend some time helping people who are sick and need some cleaning done. We’ll work hard, put our energy into bringing a little order to some clutter and chaos, and will think about all the people who aren’t around today to do things like this because of what happened ten years ago — including all the children who were never born because their parents were murdered ten years ago today when Islam brought down tall buildings and cut thousands of lives short.

Next year, I want to be in New York City for the next anniversary, when I want to find my friend Jane’s name on the memorial plaque, and touring the new museum on the site.

But today, before Justin and I get going on our volunteering, I want to spend a few hours writing not about the 9/11 attacks themselves, but about my amazing friend who is not here anymore because of them. I want to tell Justin all about Jane and how much she meant to me and how much of an impact she had on my life, that I can see so clearly today.

I want to channel just a little bit of Jane by going out into the world today with just a little bit of Jane’s can-do spirit, because that’s, frankly, what she’d be doing herself if she had the chance.

Please pray for everyone out there who’s having it rough today, remembering loved ones murdered and lives destroyed.

I don’t want to talk about any politics today. I don’t want to do anything but remember my friend and use her memory to brighten the lives of as many people as I can.

But, I do want to know what you are doing today and what this anniversary means to you, so please share below.

HillBuzz Overnight Open Thread: September 10th, 2011

Posted at September 10, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Featured Content, Hillbuzz, Open Threads

Please watch President George W. Bush at the dedication ceremony for the Pennsylvania 9/11 memorial.

Tomorrow is a very tough day for a great many people.

Can you please say some prayers, tonight and tomorrow, for everyone coast to coast who had a friend or family member who was murdered by Islam ten years ago?

“The Religion of Peace” murdered a good friend of mine, who was one of the bravest, boldest, and most interesting people the world has ever known. Until Muslims murdered her.

She wasn’t “lost”.  She didn’t “pass away”. And she wasn’t “killed”.

She was murdered.  By Muslims. In New York City.

And ten years later I still refuse to let the agenda-driven media and Islamapologists in the Left claim otherwise.

I don’t think I need to ask what’s on your mind this evening or what people are talking about, but here’s an open thread for you to reflect on what you remember about September 10th, 2001…before the world changed forever and in so many cases, great friends were gone for good.

TAKE ACTION: What are the most common attacks on Governor Palin you hear lately? We need to identify and then refudiate them

Posted at September 10, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Common Leftist Attacks, Debate Prep, Hillbuzz, Purple Team - Palin

[h/t Essex&Orange for the awesome bumper sticker!]

Please help with an ongoing project to give people an idea of how to refudiate the consistent attacks made on Governor Palin by the Left, the GOP Cocktail Party establishment, and the agenda-driven media.

Can you name an attack you hear people make on the Governor, most often without any sort of evidence to back it up, or real explanation from the attacker why he feels this way?

Example:  “She’s a quitter!”

Example: “She’s too polarizing!”

Example:  “She’s unelectable!”

This afternoon, Justin’s helping me design some Debate Prep Cards I want to make that will tackle every one of these attacks you can list for me. I’ll take the time to make these as bullet points so that people can save them, print them out, and maybe cut them into slips they can keep in a recipe box to start preparing them to be surrogate speakers for the Governor after she officially announces her campaign.

I’ve have more information in an essay for each one, but I figure the cards would be a nice study aid just like I used all throughout school for most of my classes.  You can keep little cards like this in your bag or in your purse, and whenever you have some time to kill, you can flip through them and start formulating your own “elevator speeches” for how you would convey these focused bursts of information to strangers in the few minutes you might have in front of them responding to one of the attacks on the Governor in person.

Things like this are hard work to put together, but with your help we can hopefully start stealing the Left’s thunder by neutralizing the attacks before they have a real chance to stick.

Can you think of a common attack you notice being repeated often and list a response you have found effective in refudiating it?

As always, be creative, so we can win one for the Saracuda with this!

************************************************************

UPDATE: My friend CJK write in with the following additional request for good, solid Palin-related information:

Dear HillBuzz,

Saw your latest thread asking for help with refudiating (repudiating?) common barbs heard against Gov. Palin as a potential candidate. I’ve read Going Rogue and America By Heart, but have never seen a truly factual, objective short bio of Gov. Palin from which an individual might glean sufficient facts to develop the two-minute “elevator pitches” needed to respond to the standard clap-trap objections to Gov. Palin. During a quick scan of bios on the internet (Googled “Sarah Palin Bio”) it became apparent that most of these attempt, in some subtle and some not-so-subtle ways, to make Gov. Palin look bad. That includes the one on Wikipedia, which is one of the places where many of the less-informed appear to go to get their info on many subjects. It occurs to me that we really need to find (or draft up) a factual, objective short bio of Gov. Palin for use during the 2012 campaign, and as a source for the two-minute “elevator pitches.” Do you know whether any such short bios exist, or whether any are being written? Thanks again for all you do!
Love and prayers,
CJK

Do you know of an excellent, short bio of the Governor?  If not what should be included and I will write one that can be told in an elevator speech.
