Thank a Veteran

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Penny4HB // Hillbuzz, Pacific West

America owes our Military Veterans an eternal debt of gratitude.  Operation Gratitude has a program dedicated to showing our veterans of past wars and conflicts that we have never forgotten them and we remain grateful for their service.  This is a program within Operation Gratitude that is separate from our care package for the troops program.  The “Thank a Veteran” program sends letters to veterans, no packages.  Letters come from grateful Americans and are sent directly, via snail mail, to a deserving veteran.
Here is what you can do:
A. Send us the name and Address of a Veteran.  If you know a Veteran who would like to receive a Letter of Gratitude (or if you would like one sent to him/her), please provide the name of the Veteran, regular mailing address (we want them to receive the letter in their physical mailbox at home), and specify in which war(s) they served.  Email the information to Penny at: OpGratVolunteer@yahoo.com
B. Write a Letter of Gratitude to a Veteran
.  It is long overdue, but never too late. Write a Letter of Gratitude to a Veteran thanking him or her for all they did for our country.

For information about how to write a veteran or a soldier currently serving, and where to send them, please visit:

http://www.operationgratitude.com/letters-to-heroes/

PLEASE NOTE THAT LETTERS TO VETERANS ARE DIFFERENT FROM LETTERS TO THE TROOPS, and are sent to a different place than letters to the troops are sent.
Thank you for your support of all our men and women of the U.S. Military –past and present!

HillBuzz on WWTC AM 1280 The Patriot with Mitch Berg and Ed Morrissey

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz, Hillbuzz Radio, Multimedia

I’m going to be on WWTAC AM 1280 “The Patriot” radio with Mitch Berg and Ed Morrissey in Minneapolis, Minnesota at 230pm CST today.

You can listen on the Internet here.

“The Patriot” website is here.

We’re going to talk about the ways the Left uses the gay community to attack conservatives and Christians, particularly conservative women.

The Left uses blacks to attack straight, white Republican men.

The Left uses gays to attack straight, white Republican women.

In either case, the Left uses a certain Democrat identity bloc to cast false accusations at conservatives, calling them either racist or homophobic, with the media then refusing to delve into any hypocrisy on the part of the accusers.

As a conservative, Christian, gay man here in Boystown, I’ve been subjected to discriminatory harassment at the hands of businesses here in my neighborhood that have told me “my kind” (meaning a gay conservative and Christian) is not welcome — because I openly defy the mandate that everyone in Boystown has to drink the Kool-Aid, bow to the false messiah of Obama, and do whatever the Left tells us to do.

The gay community is not forever the victim…but it is often the victimizer in the political arena.

We need to keep talking about this!

Do you consider Karl Marx and Che Guevara to be “heroes of history”?

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Alinsky Methods, The Left

Click above to embiggen

There is a public school social studies teacher in Palatine, Illinois (northwestern suburb of Chicago) named Jason Spoor who posted the above photos of Karl Marx and Che Guevara on his “About Me” portion of the school’s offical website.

Not having children, and not having any friends with high school aged children, I’d love for parents to chime in on this below…to hear what you think of Karl Marx and Che Guevara being promoted as “history heroes” at William Fremd High School here in the people’s republic of Illinois.

I have a good friend from college named Magda who emigrated from Poland when she was very young — but not too young to remember how terrible it was in countries where people had the ideas of Karl Marx forced upon them by men with guns and Marxist zeal similar to Guevara.

When I sent Magda the link to William Fremd high school’s social studies page, she was horrified to see Marx up there so prominently and proudly displayed (above and beyond adventure shots of the teacher, off on vacations, making Marx and Guevara look like “Amazing Race” style travel buddies).  I won’t transcribe exactly what she said — because she really went on a tear over this — but I’ll just say she thinks it’s disgusting that a high school in America promotes Marx and Guevara as “history heroes”.

“Whatever happened to George Washington or Martin Luther King?  What about Jane Adams or Winston Churchill?  Didn’t these people have something to do with social studies to warrant a place up there instead of those two murderers?”

I’d love your own personal opinions on this.

What do you think when you look at William Fremd High School’s mascots — Karl Marx and Che Guevara?

Do you think this is inappropriate, or do you think the teacher who posted this is justified in doing so?

Who are YOUR personal “heroes of history” and why?

Know what Rick Perry should dress up as for Halloween? BABEbraham Lincoln. Check him out in his cadet and cheerleader outfits!

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Cocktail Party GOP, The Soggy Sandwich Society

H/t Ace.mu.nu for the photos above

Hubba hubba.

Seriously.

I may think the closest Rick Perry will get to the presidency is dressing up like BABEbraham Lincoln at Halloween, but I have to say that on many levels I really like the man…and think he was a stone cold fox when he was in college.

These are certainly nicer than the college shots we have of Obama (all two of them), with him either smoking a cigarette looking like he’s on drugs or sitting inappropriately close to a Pakistani man who everyone I know very much believes was his boyfriend at the time (not to mention his co-adventurer to Pakistan, back when someone with an American passport was not allowed to go to Pakistan).

Rick Perry is announcing his presidential bid today, apparently on the Internet, via Erik Erikson’s Redstate.com (a site I really love, though sometimes don’t exactly agree with).

In a world without Governor Sarah Palin in it, how would I feel about Rick Perry?

He’d sure as heck get my support over Mittens “Mood Ring” Romney, Tim “Cure for Insomina” Pawlenty, or Jon “I Can’t Believe Anyone’s Falling For This” Huntsman.

Perry is definitely someone who checks where the political winds are blowing and then does what the majority of people want him to do…which, in terms of how things stand right now, is a diluted good thing since I believe Perry would indeed do a lot of what the Tea Party and conservative Americans want from the next president.

I’m worried about what the Cocktail Party GOP establishment in Washington would do with Perry though.  He’d never be the whiffling wimp that Mittens is every day of his waking life, or the cardboard bore that Pawlenty is, but I don’t see Perry going all-in to clobber the Cocktail Party the way it needs to be clobbered.

I see President Palin doing that.

YOU BETCHA.

I also see her picking as VP Allen West, who would be Vice President in Charge of Clobbering Things.

Together, the two of them would decimate the Left and the Cocktail Party establishment alike, which is what needs to happen.

I believe Governor Palin is very much indeed running for president, but if for whatever reason she decides not to answer the calling I believe God has sent to her, then I support Michele Bachmann as our next best hope in taking down both the Left and the Cocktail Party GOP establishment.

After these two women, there is no man I feel comfortable trusting this immense responsibility to…because I believe all the male candidates are wimps when it comes to the Cocktail Party GOP establishment.  Some more so than others, but I just have never heard of Perry sticking it to the establishment…and that GOP establishment, the good old cucumber and mayonnaise Cocktail Party, is as much to blame for our troubles as the Left that it enables.

Palin is an A+, homerun for what America needs right now.

Bachmann is an A-…who I think is actually destined to be the next Speaker of the House.

Perry is a B.

Mittens and most of the other wimps putting themselves forward are Ds (just like the grades Obama got in college…and show me his transcripts if you dispute that!).

Rick Santorum is an F-. Seriously, the Republican Party embarrasses itself by putting this man forward as a credible anything when the man kept an empty house in Pennsylvania (with no furniture in it) and still tried to claim residency there, when he didn’t sleep in the state his own time in the Senate (which was part of the reason Pennsylvania voters hated him, and fired him after one term).

Case Studies of “The Tolerant Left”: NYC Democrat women who hate pregnant women

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Alinsky Methods, Gold Team - Creativity, Hillbuzz, The Left

Here’s a case study of “The Tolerant Left” at work…in this instance, self-proclaimed “liberal” (read: Leftist) women in New York City who voted for Obama, have always called themselves Democrats, and who hate a woman in their office who’s gotten pregnant, is getting married, and is happily starting a family.

My friend Delphine works in a non-teaching position at a major institution of higher learning in New York City, in an office that is almost exclusively female, Obama-voting, and Leftist. The Big Boss of the office is a ridiculously wealthy Manhattan socialite who enjoys the prestige of her position (hobnobbing with the Mayor quite often, frequently being interviewed for her opinions on matters related to academia, having lunch with celebrity alumni, etc.) and the many millions of dollars her former husband left her, before the divorce.  This woman recently came out as a lesbian, and this liberation has turned to militancy on some levels, in that she clearly grinds an axe against women in the office with family responsibilities (since, not having those of her own, she seems to believe people under her on the organizational chart need to be at her disposal 24/7/365, husbands and babies be damned). She is what has been termed an evangelical or fundamentalist lesbian, who braids politics and autocracy into sexuality. Of, course, Big Boss is a big Obama supporter who makes many disparaging remarks during official staff meetings about Governor Sarah Palin, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, columnist Ann Coulter, and other conservative women.

The hatred exuded by Big Boss is real and palpable…she is a very angry woman who takes her emotions out on those unfortunate enough to work for her. She is the tyrant of her ivory towered fiefdom.

Advice on how to deal with gay family member who’s been brainwashed by the Left

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Being Gay, Boystown, Hillbuzz

Dear HillBuzz,

This may be a bit strange, but I would like to ask your advice with a situation going on in my family right now. My 21-year-old brother came out last December, and there wasn’t much of a reaction. I always suspected he was gay, and the only thing my mom really said was that, while she didn’t understand, she would always love him. My brother also told her that in the future he wanted to be married and have children. Now, my brother is back from college for the summer, and he’s basically been acting like a jackass. He treats my mom terribly, verbally abusing her, and he throws fits like he’s still a child. Today, they got into a discussion about gay marriage, which my mom does not support. She says it’s not so much for religious reasons, but because she’s afraid that gay marriage will open the door for things like legalizing polygamy. Even though my brother is YEARS away from being married (he’s never even been in a gay relationship yet!), he’s basically saying that if my mom doesn’t change her mind about gay marriage, he doesn’t want a relationship with her in the future. She’s tried telling him that she wants to understand him more and how he came to realize he was gay and that she can’t just change how she feels in a split second to please him. He says that because she doesn’t support gay marriage right now (she still thinks gay people should have full legal rights), that she supports discrimination agianst him and doesn’t want him to be happy, and therefore he can’t have a full relationship with her. I want to try to make them understand each others positions a bit more, but I don’t know for sure what to say to my brother. I would really appreciate it if you could offer any advice for me and my family.

Thank you,

Emma in Missouri

Hillbuzz Open Thread: Saturday, August 13, 2011

Posted at August 13, 2011 by Kathleen Gee // Hillbuzz, Open Threads

The Iowa Straw Poll is today. Depending on whom you ask, it’s either the single most important event in the 2012 campaign (if Mitt Romney wins, and you’re a member of the LSM) or completely meaningless (if you’re Ron Paul, and you’re a member of the Cocktail Party GOP).

What’s going on in your part of the world today?
