Great poster promoting “Sarah Taking Stock” inspired by Woodstock posters — Waukee, Iowa Labor Day Weekend
A big thanks to Jen-for-Prez for this submission. It’s gorgeous work, and really invokes the vibe of the classic Woodstock poster.
“Sarah Taking Stock”, or “Sarahstock”, is gaining increasing energy as the grassroots name for Labor Day weekend and the big speech Governor Palin will deliver to the Tea Party in Waukee, Iowa September 3rd.
Jen gives you permission to print out her hard work and use it for decoration at the event, or for other personal purposes, but please respect her talent and time by not reproducing the above for commercial purposes.
Design your own take on the theme…the more the merrier…and tap into your creativity to create all sorts of terrific posters and banners to celebrate Governor Palin’s Labor Day speech!

“I never thought I would feel like a refugee living in the nation of my birth”
Dear HillBuzz,
There are those who have been impressed with Sarah Palin and then there are the rest of the folks who seem to be running on venom.
At the age of 74, it seems to me that a large part of the folks in the USA have gone crazy. Racist this, ignorant that, sluts, whores, if you disagree with them. Someone calls me racist I tell them to get lost that I am not impressed.
It seems to me that the government is broken and cannot fix itself, ever.
Political people are laughably transparent.
I never thought I would feel like a refugee living in the nation of my birth.
W.B.

I know there are many out there who feel the same as W.B.
A good friend of mine who’s a former Marine said the only antidote to fear is action.
I think that antidote applies to the whole spectrum of fear and anxiety and frustration.
What are some things you think you can start doing in your own lives, in your own circles of friends and family, to nudge people towards addressing the broken government W.B. described…which we all know really CAN’T fix itself (or do anything right, for that matter)?

Mystery Hatemail of the Day: Do you have any idea what this means?
Here’s a piece of hatemail that came in today that’s intriguing because I have no idea what this man is talking about. And somewhere in the middle of this, the words start to rhyme in a surprisingly not unpleasant way.
It’s like getting hatemail from The Riddler.
Can you make any sense of this?

Subject: you all want to change direction??????i was a republican and i really don’t want you all to change direction. i rather all of you drop dead along with the democrats. you people are the scum of the earth. if i receive another envelope for a contribution, i will personally shove it up that jewish weasel from va. or the white trash from ohio. 11 siblings and poor….. certainly his mother was a white trash whore…
I don’t know who is sending this man envelopes, but they should probably stop…unless that’s the secret hope of whoever in Virginia and Ohio he’s talking about, regarding the shoving of envelopes where envelopes shouldn’t and don’t normally go (not even at the Post Office here in Boystown).
“11 siblings and poor…certainly his mother was a…” is like something disconcertingly catchy you’d spot scrawled in grease pencil on the bathroom stall of a rest stop in the Smokies.
After reading this, I feel like I do when Justin goes off on one of his tangents about the World of Warcraft, where he loses me as soon as he starts talking about the various fictional continents and mountain ranges of that online video game.
For the life of me, I just can’t pay attention, or find any clue to what the point is about two sentences into this stuff.

Interesting Facebook exchange in Boystown evidencing disenchantment with Obama even in the Leftiest of Leftist ranks
Here’s an interesting exchange I noticed on Facebook today, involving mainly guys here in Chicago’s Boystown. Remember, these were people who bought all the hopeychangey snake oil Obama sold back in 2008. On top of that, most of these people screamed and yelled RAAACIST! at anyone not supporting Obama or believing he could deliver unto us a perpetual flood of unicorns. The gay community is routinely used by the Left as goons to target, intimidate, and berate conservatives…and in 2008 this dovetailed with the Left’s committed usage of the black community to call anyone opposing Leftist policies RAAACIST…just because.
Ridiculous.
While I caution you that it’s very unlikely any of the people in the thread below — all of whom I’d wager were 2008 Obama voters — would ever think of voting Republican, it sure seems likely at least a few of these gay guys will find something better to do on Election Day in 2012 than making a production of going out to vote for Obama a second time.
QUESTION: Do you know the “3 Rs” Sarah Palin sometimes uses in speeches?
I’m stumped on this and don’t have a copy of Going Rogue near me at the moment — and need this information quickly.
I remember in Governor Palin’s book, and in some of the speeches I’ve heard her deliver, she’s used “3 R’s” as bullet points to describe her mission for the country.
I can hear it in my head and see it like it’s on the page, but I can’t remember what they were.
One of the Rs has something to do with energy resources…but it’s not the word “resources”.
Another R has to do with America’s exceptionalism, I believe.
The third R might involve either cutting spending or eliminating the dependence on government…or it might be about sticking it to the establishment.
Does anyone out there know what I’m talking about?
Do you know what the “3 Rs” are, or have I just imagined this?

UPDATE: Thanks to those who wrote in — it’s “Renew, Revive, Restore”
Here is how the Governor has used it before:
“Folks, in 2012, the message should be renew our optimistic, pioneering spirit, revive our free market system and restore constitutional limits and our standing in the world, as that abiding beacon of freedom. … Not transformation but restoration with a ‘Great Awakening’ that we already feel emerging across America. We will win this year, we will win this year. And I believe we will win in 2012.”
That comes from one of the many stump speeches Governor Palin delivered to crowds in 2010 as she socked it to both the Cocktail Party GOP establishment and the Left coast to coast.
A Reality Check on Cutting Defense Spending — Who REALLY Gets Harmed
Our friend Penny in California is really on a roll today. After speaking with Bill Bennett on the air on the radio this morning, she had a conversation with her son that prompted the email below:
Dear HillBuzz,
I was just talking to my son who passed on something from his friend, who is a Marine. He doesn’t want his name used but gave me permission to pass this along for HillBuzz if you are interested in posting it. I think they are important points that few people ever think about:
When people talk about Defense cuts, the first obvious thing that comes to (Congress’) mind are defense contracts for new weapons systems, new vehicles, etc. But the fact is that those contracts are over several years (usually at least 10) to cover the research, development, etc. To cut it out in any year other than before it starts means:
a. Money has now been throw away on the years already paid out
b. Loss of huge numbers of jobs in the defense industry– which means more unemployment
c. The obvious–reduction in our defense abilitiesSo–what usually happens instead is that they cut the only other thing possible in the Defense Budget: Personnel. That means two things:
a. More people unemployed and/or:
b. Cutting benefits to Military personnel–which means FAMILIES AND CHILDREN: cuts in schooling/education, health care, veterans services etc.
Something to think about, isn’t it?
Penny in California
