Saturday Open Thread: July 30th, 2011
(thanks Indy for this pic)
What do you think Harry Reid is doing this weekend?
What are his weekend plans? A barbeque and beer party with his wild friends? Going to Ocean City, Maryland to party on the boardwalk? Maybe hanging out in Georgetown with some college co-ed’s in summer school?
Go ahead…give it your best guess.
What are you doing this weekend?
It’s hot as the blue blazes here in Dixie so life has slowed to a crawl until fall.
What’s on your minds this Saturday?
What are people talking about in your part of the world?
This is why I love South Carolina.
South Carolina continues to prove itself to be one tough little state with one tough governor. It refuses to be pushed around by special interest groups or union thugs. The latest group to try and tell South Carolina what to do is the NAACP. A Confederate flag has been flown at the north end of the Statehouse since 2000. The flag had been flying on top of the Statehouse since 1962 but had to be moved to the north end as a response to protests by the NAACP. Now they don’t want the flag anywhere near the Statehouse. The president of the NAACP Benjamin Jealous thinks that since Nikki Haley comes from Indian descent, she should understand what it is like to be oppressed by “colonials” and she should be sensitive to how blacks feel about the Confederate flag.
While addressing a crowd at the NAACP conference in LA, Jealous had this to say…
“Perhaps one of the most perplexing examples of the contradictions of this moment in history is that Nikki Haley, South Carolina’s first governor of color, continues to fly the Confederate flag in front of her state’s capitol. Given the similarities between our struggles to end slavery and segregation, and her ancestors’ struggle to end British colonialism and oppression in India, my question to Governor Haley is one that Dr. King often asked himself: ‘What would Gandhi do?’” Jealous said.
South Carolina’s first governor of color? Do you consider Nikki Haley a person of color? I sure don’t. She’s a South Carolina native who’s parents happen to be from India. Her skin is paler than mine.
Haley’s office says that the issue was already settled over 10 years ago and it shouldn’t be brought up again…
“More than a decade ago, under the leadership of a Democratic governor, South Carolinian Republican and Democrat, black and white, came to a compromise position on the Confederate flag,” said Haley press secretary, Rob Godfrey.
“Many people were uncomfortable with that compromise, but it addressed a sensitive subject in a way that South Carolina as a whole could accept. We don’t expect people from outside of the state to understand that dynamic, but revisiting that issue is not part of the governor’s agenda,” Godfrey said
So…of course….the NAACP is boycotting the state (except for the money the blacks are getting from the Pigford scam…they aren’t boycotting that). I didn’t know this but since 2001, the NCAA won’t hold any tournaments in the state because the Confederate flag is flying on the grounds of the Statehouse.
Instead of being proud of their heritage and how far they have come, the NAACP continues to incite turmoil and hatred wherever they go. They don’t want their people to succeed because…well…then Benjamin Jealous would be out of a job. (and Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright and probably Barack Obama too)
Good for South Carolina for standing up to the NAACP, the NCAA and the union thugs who don’t want the Boeing plant moved there.
You are a shining example of why I am proud to be a Southerner.
Go Nikki Go!
The Megan Fox Show Friday 7/29/11
I co-hosted the Megan Fox Show this afternoon: here’s a link to listen.
We discussed David Wu, the Cocktail Party GOP establishment, gay bullying of conservatives, Michele Bachmann and the Left’s attacks on her, Governor Palin’s continued strength in the face of nonstop assault from the Left, and the ongoing black-on-gay violence happening in Boystown.
Check it out and chime in below with any feedback.
“The Undefeated” is not about Sarah Palin…it is about YOU
My boyfriend Justin and I drove up to Milwaukee to see “The Undefeated” on Wednesday.
It’s hard to get Justin to anything politically-related because he bores very easily, especially if charts and graphs pop up and someone starts talking about energy resource development or the minutia of legislative maneuvers in various states. Justin likes playing World of Warcraft, listening to music on his iPhone, and screwing around on Facebook.
But, Justin supports Governor Sarah Palin very much, though he knows shockingly little about her or her time as Governor of Alaska. I had to trick him into seeing “The Undefeated”, however, because the movie’s not playing in Chicago and the closest theater showing it was at a mall in Waukesha, about two hours away from us. There is, however, a spy-themed restaurant in downtown Milwaukee that requires a secret password to get in and has waitstaff who role-play like it’s a Cold War safe house…so getting Justin psyched for a road trip to eat there easily included a stop at the Mayfield Mall to see “The Undefeated”, since of course I timed our trip to get us to Wisconsin while the Safe House was closed between lunch and dinner shifts.
You betcha.
Research Needed: Can you help identify people, groups, or other entities who have been attacked by gay groups in Illinois…especially by Equality Illinois?
We need some help with research that will be used to expose the hypocrisy rife in the gay community, particularly the one here in Boystown, Chicago.
The Left uses and exploits gays in much the same way the Left uses and exploits blacks. Whenever Democrats need to slander and otherwise malign Republicans, they turn to gays to call religiously affiliated Republicans bigots and accuse them of all manner of discrimination…much like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Henry Gates, or Barack Obama taking to the TV to rile black people up by claiming some person, company, or even cat or dog is RAAACIST. It’s oft-staged and predictable theater the media loves, so this has obviously been going on for decades now.
The thing is, no matter how much the gay community claims to be victimized by religious people — or by Republicans, whenever it’s close to an election year and Democrats need to damage the opposition by falsely claiming they are bigots — it’s actually gays who invest more time and effort into attacking people who have religious beliefs…most especially Christians.
Fast and Furious: Rep. Meehan gets tough.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANSbwmYlYI&feature=socblog_th
This video offers just a glimpse of the tension that permeates the hearings of the Fast and Furious investigation. There’s a lot of footage of these hearings on YouTube that the Oversight Committee has posted (from oversightandreform). I especially love this one because Rep. Pat Meehan (R-PA) keeps the pressure on and never lets up…causing Special Agent in Charge William Newell to visibly squirm.
Human Events has a wonderful way of summing up this video…
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and his House Oversight committee did not waste any time getting down to business when their “Gun Walker” hearings resumed yesterday. Within a matter of hours, they had Special Agent in Charge William Newell, of the Phoenix ATF office, sizzling nicely on the Oversight hibachi, and this astonishing exchange occurred:
( I love it…sizzling nicely on the Oversight hibachi)
The House Oversight Committee is getting closer and closer to linking the White House to this scandal. Mr. Newell also testified that he discussed Fast and Furious with his friend, White House National Security Director for North America Kevin O’Reilly. So…the link to the White House is there. Rep. Issa has managed to find an email between Newell and O’Reilly that discussed Fast and Furious.
While the debt debate rages on Capital Hill, the investigation into Fast and Furious is humming along under the radar of the media…or more accurately, the media is ignoring it and praying that it goes away. They do not want to have to report on this scandal….especially as the 2012 elections draw near.
This is definitely a story that keeps on giving.
Operation Gratitude Launches “Batallion Buddies” Program
Dear HillBuzz,
Having already shipped more than 600,000 care packages to service men and women deployed in combat zones, Operation Gratitude is pleased to announce the launch of “Battalion Buddies” — a new program designed to serve and encourage the young children of deploying troops.
In cooperation with Family Readiness Officers and battalion leaders nationwide, Operation Gratitude has begun providing special stuffed toys – known as Battalion Buddies – to the sons and daughters of U.S. military personnel as their units prepare to deploy.
