Obama…a passing fad in the college world?
Sort of like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Miami Vice or parachute pants….Obama may just be a passing fad for some young voters…specifically young white college students… this according to John Vinocur of the New York Times, who did a story about a symposium at Oberlin College titled “Oberlin-based Perspectives on the Obama Presidency”. According to Vinocur, Oberlin is a very liberal college campus…more so than most but the young enthusiastic little liberals are cooling to “The One”.
“These days, many of the themes of Mr. Obama’s early speech-making that could well stir the campus are gone from the president’s frame of reference.
Potentially pleasing to his campus activist supporters, his initial areas of focus — a world without nuclear weapons, or an apologetic refusal to hold up U.S. democracy as a model for the Arab and Islamic world — have been scaled down as presidential hallmarks.
The realities of Mr. Obama’s re-election next year are 9.1 percent unemployment, as opposed to 7.6 percent when he took office, and prices for houses that have fallen to 33 percent below their 2006 levels, decimating millions of families’ notional wealth.”
Vinocur also noted that most college students just flat-out don’t care that “Obama got Osama”. In fact, they were asking questions like…
“Why were we shooting an unarmed man” and “violating the sovereignty of a foreign nation”?
The reality? These kids were 18, 19 and 20 year old young first time voters who thought it was “cool” to vote for the first black president….now they are just about to graduate with little or no job prospects.
Hope!
Change!
Reality sucks.
Romney Admits “Overexposure” is His Greatest Enemy
After Sarah Palin’s non-publicized bus tour generated three times as many news stories as his announcement that he was launching his second unsuccessful Presidential campaign, Mitt Romney announced that his greatest enemy was “overexposure.”
Way to make lemonade, Mitt!
Probably because if he gets as much exposure as Sarah Palin gets, Republicans will discover that his tenure as the governor of Massachusetts was a disaster; that he’s a huge fan forcing Americans to buy health insurance; and that he believes in man-made global warming. (Oops!)
As reported by the Boston Globe,
“Right now, your greatest enemy is overexposure,” he told CNN’s Piers Morgan in his first major TV interview since his announcement. “People get tired of seeing the same person day in and day out.”
“People are going to start focusing on the elections probably after Labor Day,” he added. “And until Labor Day hits, I’m going to be pretty quiet.”

Pigs Fly Through a Frozen Hell: LA Times Admits Sarah Palin was Right About Paul Revere
Political blogger Andrew Malcolm is often the only columnist I read at the LA times. Generally speaking, he writes with an intellectual honesty that is all but extinct in the mainstream media, especially among political reporters.
Today, just after Hell froze over, pigs were seen flying over the West Wing. Monkeys flew out of Joe Biden’s butt. And the LA Times published an honest story about Sarah Palin.
You know how Sarah Palin said Paul Revere warned the British? Well, he did. Now, who looks stupid?
The well-known fable is Revere’s late-night ride to warn fellow revolutionaries that….
…the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening’s events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American Revolution’s inevitable victory.
Palin knew this. The on-scene reporters did not and ran off like Revere to alert the world to Palin’s latest mis-speak, which wasn’t.
Never thought I’d live to see the day. Thanks to prolific Hillbuzz commenter cjwk for the heads-up.
Even USA Today is being Eeyoristic…
Even the Obama friendly USA Today is feeling a little Eeyorish about Obama right now. The front page of today’s paper had a headline reading “Obama Seeks Reshaped Image for 2012 Run”. The article goes on to discuss how the prince of hope and change hasn’t lived up to his promise.
Best line of the article?…
“Obama lost control of his brand once he took office.”

Something the Dems didn’t want to hear…..
The chairman of the Tea Party Express put out a statement yesterday telling Fox News that the Tea Party will support whoever the GOP nominee is…even if it’s Mitt Romney. “Whoever the Republican nominee is will have to have the support of the Tea Party movement, the entire Tea Party movement.” Amy Kremer told Fox News on Saturday. She also said that they would not support a third party candidate…..”There is no way that we are going to support a third party candidate. It would split the vote and it would guarantee reelection for Obama, and we need to crush Obama. We have to get him out of the White House,”
Rock on Amy!
That’s very good news for the GOP and very bad news for the Dems, who are hoping that the Republican party will be fractured by in-fighting amongst the Cocktail Party and the Tea Party. Oh….you can bet that there will be fighting during the primaries. Claws will be out and blood will flow but it’s nice to hear that…in the end…the Tea Party will back the GOP candidate.
I think that Governor Palin is gaining steam with her bus tour . The LSM is following her around like a bunch of flesh-eating zombies. The more they try to vilify her and make her look like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, they more popular she becomes. She relates to the “common folk” of America and people will remember that come November 2012. It’s my opinion that the snobby-silver spoon-lefty elitist are doing Governor Palin a favor by trying to marginalize her. She terrifies them. They will be even more terrified if she picks a black VP running mate. I would love Allen West or Herman Cain.
Palin/West….Palin/Cain
Both have a really nice sound.

Cupcakes are da bomb!
I know there are more important national and world issues that I should be posting about but….it’s Saturday and too damn hot outside to be serious and this story just cracks me up so… here goes….
The British intelligence agency M16 has managed to hack into Al Qaeda’s online magazine “Inspire”( which “inspires” jihadists to make bombs and plan terrorists attacks against infidels). The brilliant Brits replaced the magazine’s bomb making recipe section with cupcake recipes. Ingenious. It’s like something out of a Monty Python movie and I love Monty Python.
(FOX)When followers of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula tried to download the 67-page instructions for how to “Make a bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom” by “The AQ Chef,” the terrorists were instead greeted with a web page of recipes for “The Best Cupcakes in America” published by the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” the newspaper reported.
Terrorists could then learn how to make a mojito cupcake made of white rum cake and draped in vanilla buttercream, instead of making a lethal pipe bomb using sugar.
I love it that they got the recipes from the Ellen Degeneres Show.
Imagine the look on Anwar al-Awlaki face when he discovered that his recipe for a car bomb had been replaced by a recipe for margarita cupcakes. My mental picture of this will keep me laughing for a long time.
This story makes my day.
