Obama…a passing fad in the college world?
Sort of like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Miami Vice or parachute pants….Obama may just be a passing fad for some young voters…specifically young white college students… this according to John Vinocur of the New York Times, who did a story about a symposium at Oberlin College titled “Oberlin-based Perspectives on the Obama Presidency”. According to Vinocur, Oberlin is a very liberal college campus…more so than most but the young enthusiastic little liberals are cooling to “The One”.
“These days, many of the themes of Mr. Obama’s early speech-making that could well stir the campus are gone from the president’s frame of reference.
Potentially pleasing to his campus activist supporters, his initial areas of focus — a world without nuclear weapons, or an apologetic refusal to hold up U.S. democracy as a model for the Arab and Islamic world — have been scaled down as presidential hallmarks.
The realities of Mr. Obama’s re-election next year are 9.1 percent unemployment, as opposed to 7.6 percent when he took office, and prices for houses that have fallen to 33 percent below their 2006 levels, decimating millions of families’ notional wealth.”
Vinocur also noted that most college students just flat-out don’t care that “Obama got Osama”. In fact, they were asking questions like…
“Why were we shooting an unarmed man” and “violating the sovereignty of a foreign nation”?
The reality? These kids were 18, 19 and 20 year old young first time voters who thought it was “cool” to vote for the first black president….now they are just about to graduate with little or no job prospects.
Hope!
Change!
Reality sucks.
Romney Admits “Overexposure” is His Greatest Enemy
After Sarah Palin’s non-publicized bus tour generated three times as many news stories as his announcement that he was launching his second unsuccessful Presidential campaign, Mitt Romney announced that his greatest enemy was “overexposure.”
Way to make lemonade, Mitt!
Probably because if he gets as much exposure as Sarah Palin gets, Republicans will discover that his tenure as the governor of Massachusetts was a disaster; that he’s a huge fan forcing Americans to buy health insurance; and that he believes in man-made global warming. (Oops!)
As reported by the Boston Globe,
“Right now, your greatest enemy is overexposure,” he told CNN’s Piers Morgan in his first major TV interview since his announcement. “People get tired of seeing the same person day in and day out.”
“People are going to start focusing on the elections probably after Labor Day,” he added. “And until Labor Day hits, I’m going to be pretty quiet.”

Well…should he or shouldn’t he resign?

Pigs Fly Through a Frozen Hell: LA Times Admits Sarah Palin was Right About Paul Revere
Political blogger Andrew Malcolm is often the only columnist I read at the LA times. Generally speaking, he writes with an intellectual honesty that is all but extinct in the mainstream media, especially among political reporters.
Today, just after Hell froze over, pigs were seen flying over the West Wing. Monkeys flew out of Joe Biden’s butt. And the LA Times published an honest story about Sarah Palin.
You know how Sarah Palin said Paul Revere warned the British? Well, he did. Now, who looks stupid?
The well-known fable is Revere’s late-night ride to warn fellow revolutionaries that….
…the British were coming. Less known, obviously, is the rest of the evening’s events in which Revere was captured by said redcoats and did indeed defiantly warn them of the awakened militia awaiting their arrival ahead and of the American Revolution’s inevitable victory.
Palin knew this. The on-scene reporters did not and ran off like Revere to alert the world to Palin’s latest mis-speak, which wasn’t.
Never thought I’d live to see the day. Thanks to prolific Hillbuzz commenter cjwk for the heads-up.
