Pathetic turnout for May Day Rally in LA
Boo Hoo…..the Los Angeles May Day rally to support illegal aliens and their “rights” was a bust this year. It looks like only a few hundred people showed up. This is in contrast to the 2006 rally when there were well over 100,000 protesters.
( LA Times ) By 10 a.m. only a few hundred immigrant rights and labor activists had gathered at Broadway and Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles to rally public support for legislation that would legalize the nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants.
“It’s really sad,” Luis Ortiz, an ice cream vendor who has been coming to the rallies for the last 15 years, said of the small turnout. “I’ve sold very little, almost nothing.”
Plenty of police officers on foot and bike patrol were on hand to monitor the crowd.
But Sunday’s turnout was a far cry from the excitement and unity that infused the May Day march in 2006, when hundreds of thousands of people marched through downtown Los Angeles.
I do feel bad for the street vendors who had hoped to make some money.
Perhaps they should target the Tea Party rallies instead.

I’m feeling extra patriotic today.
How about you?
What’s on your minds today (hint…Osama bin Laden)?
What are people talking about in your part of the world (hint…Osama bin Laden)?
Osama Bin Laden has met his maker
Yes…the great spawn of Satan, Osama bin Laden has gone to his final resting place in Hell. It’s being reported that he was killed in a mansion on the outskirts of Islamabad, Pakistan along with some family members….courtesy of our magnificent military… his body is in US custody. This wasn’t a drone attack….it was SPECIAL OPS GROUND FORCES! America was there….in person….to take that SOB down.
I’m not usually jubilant about anyone’s death but….
This is AWESOME.
It’s about Good vs. Evil…..and Good just won.
God Bless our Troops and God Bless America.
The real meaning of May Day isn’t so sweet
I like to think of May Day as something sunny and colorful and Spring-y but it’s quite the opposite. May Day is actually a day to celebrate labor….as in labor workers, labor unions and workers rights. It began back in 1886 as a tribute to the people involved in the Haymarket Affair, a three day general labor strike that took place in Chicago. During the strike, police opened fire… killing 4 people… so a rally was called the following day at Haymarket Square in protest of the killings. During the rally, a riot broke out resulting in at least a dozen deaths, including a policeman. Eight people were arrested during the course of the riot and a sensation trial took place. The eight defendants were tried for their political beliefs (pro-labor). 4 of the defendants were convicted and put to death by hanging….thus creating the Haymarket Martyrs. May Day has become a day not only for pro-labor demonstrations but also for pro-immigration demonstrations. Today, May 1st, 2011, there are many protests scheduled to take place around the country…both pro-union and pro-immigration.
How can we counter protest?
We can make our voices heard by showing our support for the Right to Work Bill. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) introduced this bill back in March. It basically protects workers from being forced to join unions. Many states have become “right-to work” states meaning that the workers are protected by law from being forced to join a union. You can see if you live in a right to work state by visiting the National Right to Work website. Needless to say, the labor unions HATE these laws.
Rand Paul was one of the senators who sponsored the Right to Work Act. He is asking Americans to sign a petition that will be sent to your senator and congressman so that you can let them know that you do not welcome the union thugs in your state.
I’m signing this petition. Are you?
I think this should be a RED TEAM ACTION ITEM.
