Question of the day: what’s your take on the developments at Louisiana State University yesterday?
In case you missed it, an LSU grad student, Benjamin Haas, a communication studies graduate student, planned a flag-burning to protest the arrest of fellow LSU student Isaac Eslava. Last week, Eslava vandalized the campus’ historic War Memorial by tearing down its American flag and burning it. In the process, Eslava did over $7,500 in damage to the Memorial, according to police.
In a refreshing move, LSU student government president Cody Wells, also a First Amendment fan, staged a counter-protest to Haas’ counter-protest. An estimated 2,000 counter-counter-protesters engaged in acts of intolerant right-wing fanaticism such as reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, singing The Star-Spangled Banner, and chanting “U-S-A! U-S-A!” (Unfortunately, some bozos also went beyond “speech” and threw things like ice and water balloons.)
As quoted by FoxNews.com, Wells said,
“My main message behind all of this is that it’s time for my generation and our society to start speaking up so that the minority voice does not always seem like the loudest voice,” Wells said. “(Haas) did have the right to burn the flag, but it was not an honorable thing for him to do and our student body and fellow Louisianans made that very clear today as they rallied on campus to show support for our county.”
Herman Cain: Obama’s Worst Nightmare
From “Citizen Cain” in today’s American Thinker:
Cain is Obama’s worst nightmare: A strong black man from the South, a self-made black man, unafraid of anyone, unafraid to say directly to Obama’s face what needs to be said directly, as often as it needs to be said. Cain has had a true American experience. He knows from real racism and segregation, not some intellectualized rage formulated in the soft environs of the Ivy League. Cain did not beg, borrow, and steal for a piece of the pie — he quite literally made his own pies.
I’ve been a fan of Herman Cain’s since I heard him guest hosting The Neal Boortz Show out of Atlanta.
Cain truly is a nightmare candidate for the Left, as evidenced in his CPAC speech, below. He offends the Left with his self-reliance, education, plain speaking and insistence on personal responsibility.
Worst of all, Herman Cain is a successful, self-made American Black Conservative, as the article continues:
Sure, the left will brand Cain an “Uncle Tom,” and call him a sellout or a self-loathing black man. Some outfit already declared Cain a “monkey in the window” for delivering a speech at CPAC described as a “minstrel show.” It is to be expected, but it is also to be relished. In their default position, the left does not count upon younger generations of voters who have already seen past their tired racism and demagoguery. A man like Cain will use these slurs to complete advantage. As Cain says proudly anywhere and everywhere, he is an ABC — American, Black, and Conservative.
Cain blew all the other candidates out of the water in the GOP presidential debate in South Carolina. SOUTH CAROLINA, an alleged bastion of RAAAAACISM and discrimination.
It’s very early in the race, but keep an eye on Herman Cain. He could be the perfect antidote to race-pimps on the left, and “it’s his turn” cucumber-and-mayo sandwich fans in the Cocktail Party.

1996– After the aircraft’s departure from Miami, Florida, a fire started by improperly handled oxygen canisters in the cargo hold of Atlanta-bound ValuJet Flight 592 causes the Douglas DC-9 to crash in the Florida Everglades killing all 110 on board.
1996 – The 1996 Everest disaster: on a single day eight people die during summit attempts on Mount Everest .
Gosh…May 11th, 1996 was a very sad day. I vividly remember the ValuJet crash in the Florida Everglades but I didn’t realize that the Everest disaster happened on the same day. Horrible.
I hope this day is better.

Bin Laden’s death sparks different reactions.
This is a video of reactions from kids of all different ages to the death of Osama bin Laden. It’s pretty enlightening. Don’t ever assume that kids don’t pay attention to what’s going on in the world.
….and then you have the childish Chris Matthews declaring that last week was the “best week ever for this country”. He is giggling so much that he can barely speak. I bet he has tingles going up both legs.

Does he not know that this country is in very serious trouble? Killing bin Laden was great but it won’t help our economy. It won’t put people back to work. It won’t bring down our outrageous debt.
Matthews is such moron.

2001 – In Ghana 129 football fans die in what became known as the Accra Sports Stadium Disaster. The deaths are caused by a stampede (caused by the firing of teargas by police personnel at the stadium) that followed a controversial decision by the referee.
2002 – The 38-day stand-off in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem comes to an end when the Palestinians inside agree to have 13 suspected terrorists among them deported to several different countries.

Happy Mother’s Day to Mama Grizzlies Everywhere
A very happy Mother’s Day to all the Mama Grizzlies out there who make their families, and thus America, work on a daily basis.

Sarah Palin and children Bristol, Trig, Track, Piper and Willow, and grandson Tripp. Photo by Robert Hanashiro for USA Weekend.
Now is a great day to revisit Sarah Palin welcomes you into her home for a family first. This profile of Sarah Palin and her family ran in the May 9, 2010 issue of USA Weekend.
What we found during three harried, uncensored hours was a working mom who gives new meaning to the term “multitasking.” One minute Palin, 46, is making a baby bottle, checking the latest stream of e-mails on her BlackBerry and asking Piper, 9, if she wants a playdate; the next she’s dashing out the back door, taking off her dangle earrings and doing a live TV shot on, yes, health care reform for Fox News. And this is all during our interview.
Can you imagine the current occupant of the White House working this hard?
We at Buzzquarters believe it will be up to the Mama Grizzlies of America to save this country from the abyss in the next 36 months. Take-charge, take-no-prisoners conservatives like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann understand that in the real world, you can’t spend more than you make for year after year after year and not go bankrupt. They understand that leading a family, like leading a nation, requires integrity, grit, responsibility and courage…and a whole lotta heart.
Here’s to Mama Grizzlies everywhere. Feel free to use this thread to send you Mom a special message today, on Mother’s Day 2011.

Obama refuses request of 9/11 family member to end probe of CIA.
Back in 2009, our “oh so honest” Attorney General, Eric Holder, began investigating the CIA for abusing detainees (aka enhanced interrogation). About the same time, Obama shifted the job of interrogating away from the CIA. There has been heated debate on Capital Hill about whether or not enhanced interrogation methods led us to bin Laden. The White House says that it was many different forms of intelligence that led us to him but most experts say that it was waterboarding and other methods that caused KSM and other detainees to sing like little birds. You don’t have to be Einstein to realize that these enhanced interrogation methods not only led us to bin Laden but have also saved thousands of lives by uncovering terrorist plots that were still in the planning stage.
After yesterday’s wreath laying ceremony at Ground Zero, Obama met with family members of 9/11 victims. The sister of the pilot of Flight 77, the plane that hit the Pentagon, Debra Burlingame, has been an outspoken critic of Obama and Eric Holder over the investigation of the CIA. According to Ms. Burlingame, when Obama approached her table, she asked him if he would ask the Attorney General to stop the investigation. Afterall….wasn’t the information gained from the CIA what led us to the most wanted man in America? The CIA can’t do their job if they fear legal action. President Obama refused her request….and then turned his back on her and walked away. Typical. Cold and aloof. Arrogant beyond belief.
He won’t call off Holder and his gang of wolves because in doing so he would admit that he was wrong and President Bush was right.
We know he would never….ever….do that.
