Reminder: Hillbuzz is an Eeyore-Free Zone
Now that the 2012 election process is officially underway, it’s time to remind Hillbuzzers that this is an Eeyore-free zone.
Yes, each of us has candidates we support. Each of us probably has a “dream ticket” we’d love to vote for. And we each have GOP, Tea Party, Libertarian or Conservative candidates we can’t stand, for whatever reason.
Hillbuzz is unique among political blogs because comments are incredibly heavily moderated in order to create a positive, uplifting, can-do online community. We moderators sometimes have to delete dozens of whiny, “she’s unelectable,” “the media doesn’t like him,” “she can’t win” comments from people who claim to be “on our side.”
We get that everyone has preferences…but please make an effort to express them positively. The LSM and RINOs and Obama and the DNC are all dedicated to tearing down and demoralizing the American Resistance. Let’s not do the same to each other.
As a reminder, here are a few excerpts from one of Kevin DuJan’s previous posts.
Eeyores are all of you who listen to the media, without thinking, and run around saying “We’re doomed! Nothing can stop Obama! His youth army and voter fraud are too much to beat!” – and then you come here, or to other blogs, and leave comments like, “I’m worried about…”, or “I’m afraid…”, or “MSNBC said…”. Listen, this is a little tough love for all of you — start thinking critically, and stop spreading your rain clouds to others. The media’s been in the tank for Obama since 2004 — this is their dream candidate, and they groomed him into a Messiah. If you think the media’s ever going to tell any truth that’s inconvenient for their chosen One, then you’re just stupid….If you continue to insist on upsetting yourself by watching Kool-Aid networks like MSNBC, don’t spread that gloom and doom to others. And don’t come here to vent your negativity – because we have no sympathy for you.
…
You never put two and two together and figured out that the media manipulated you every time — they brought the gloom and doom out in you, and you then went out and spread your rain clouds to everyone you know, depressing them, and probably getting more than a few of them to go out and spread gloom and doom to others they knew. Like an infection that spreads.
…
This is an Eeyore-free zone and that crap will not be tolerated here. We’ve stopped talking to people we know who pull this Eeyore stuff — we still love those people as friends, but are too busy to get sucked into their rain clouds. So, we won’t be taking their calls until after the election. There is just too much to do to spend our days talking Eeyores off ledges.
This site exists to cut through all the crap, all the propaganda, all the media lies.
Keep the negative rain cloud garbage to yourself — or even better, be smart enough to see through the propaganda and critically analyze everything that’s being said.
Stop being an Eeyore.
Or, if you can’t do that, at least stop spreading your rain clouds to others.
Because the only thing you are doing is helping Obama.
Who knows, maybe that’s been your secret goal all along.
…
There’s actually a very good chance a lot of these Eeyores are Obama supporters, pulling a “Tokyo Rose”. During WW2, Tokyo Rose filled the airwaves with gloom and doom, telling American GIs to just give up, that all was lost, that there was no way they could win. Anyone stupid enough to listen to her became depressed, and stopped working hard, because they let Tokyo Rose’s rain clouds get to them. That’s what’s happening now.
This Year’s LSM Meme is….
What’s a meme? It’s the cognitive equivalent of a “gene.” The term was coined by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins to describe the units of thought or concepts that are passed between people. Memes that resonate with people tend to “go viral.”
The Lamestream Media’s 2012 GOP Primary Meme has emerged. A couple of elections ago, the Lamestream Media’s Meme was “George Bush Lacks Gravitas.” Since 2008, the “She’s So Polarizing” meme has been cultivated and used against Sarah Palin.
This year’s GOP Meme is “You’re Not SERIOUS.” Interestingly, it’s only used against candidates who poll extremely well, and actually have a statistical ability to beat Obama, according to polls of likely voters.
In the “bad is good, up is down” world created by the Lamestream Media, “serious” means “not a threat” and “not serious” means “Oh, sh*t. They’ll clean Obama’s clock.”
If you pay attention to cable news political coverage, it won’t take you long to uncover examples like this:
“Sure, it’s quaint how Ron Paul always votes against unconstitutional legislation, and it’s amusing how Ron thinks our currency should be backed with something of value, and, yes, it’s interesting how he correctly predicted the housing bubble and collapse of the Dollar 35 years ago. [Insert sigh and dismissive hand wave]. But…you know, Ron Paul just isn’t a serious candidate for President.”
Here’s a handy scorecard to help you keep track:
“Serious” GOP Contenders (as defined by the LSM)
- Mitt Romney
- Mitch Danels
- Tim Pawlenty
- Newt Gingrich
- Donald Trump
- John McCain
- Mike Huckabee
- Bob Dole
- A 6′ tall stack of old Yellow Pages left next to the recycling bin back behind the TV station
Embarassingly Un-Serious GOP Contenders That We Can’t Believe We’re Forced to Waste Time Covering, Because Surely, Don’t We All Agree They’re Totally Unelectable? Move along, nothing to see here… (as defined by the LSM)
- Sarah Palin
- Ron Paul
- Herman Cain
- Michelle Bachmann
Keep your ears open…and it won’t take you long to notice who the LSM’s “serious GOP contender” is today.
UPDATE: H/T to libertarian talk show host Neal Boortz, for noting that the “You’re Not Serious” meme is now being spread by RINO Cocktail Party supporters, not just the LSM.
Alleged Conservative blogger and radio host Hugh Hewitt is eager to help the LSM suppress “non-serious” GOP candidates. In a recent blog post (which we refuse to link to because we don’t want to send him any traffic), Hewett said (emphasis added),
This is why the GOP needs to rethink its debate schedule and why the RNC should take over the operation of the debates and exile Cain, Johnson and Paul as well as every other candidate without a prayer of winning. (Santorum is a long shot, but he has a realistic though small chance of winning the nomination, while the others do not.) The seriousness of the fiscal crisis requires the GOP and its candidates to act seriously, and allowing marginal candidates to eat up time and distract from the enormous problems facing the country is not serious.
“Electability” is a characteristic that can only be identified in retrospect…by voters…after an election.
With “friends” like Hugh Hewett, who needs enemies?
2012 Elections: Where are we now?
I have to admit that I’m getting a little worried about the 2012 elections. The more I hear about the current field of GOP candidates, the less I like. I’m trying not to be pessimistic but there’s not one candidate that I feel really good about. As much as I adore Herman Cain, I’m not sure he is the right candidate to take on Obama. I know he’s smart and tough talking but I’m not sure he’s ready for prime time. I strongly supported Mitt Romney in 2008 (I DO NOT like John McCain) but Mitt has definitely lost his presidential appeal. He is still stubbornly defending RomneyCare and that’s a big mistake. Is he a RINO dressed in conservative clothing? I think he is. Tim Pawlenty may be emerging as a front runner. I have never been thrilled with Pawlenty. He seems mushy-gushy and boring and we will need someone energetic and charismatic to take on Obama. I feel the same way about Mitch Daniels. He does have a good grip on economic issues and I think that will be the defining issue in the 2012 campaign but he is just so unexciting. Newt Gingrich has been a huge disappointment to me. I can remember campaigning for Newt back when he was running for congress and I have always thought he was absolutely brilliant. He had a practical solution for every problem that America faced but the Newt that’s campaigning today and the Newt of the 1980′s is a completely different person. It’s as if he was abducted by aliens and when they returned him, he had transformed into a RINO. I think that he has blown his chances of the nomination after his remark about Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform plan. There’s also a lot of chatter about Chris Christie. I can not decide about him. I like his way of handling the unions in NJ but there are also a lot of disturbing things he’s said and done that make me nervous. Where is the RNC Chairman…Reince Priebus (gotta love that name)? I never hear anything about him or what he is doing.
I could go on and on about the other candidates but I only want to know one thing….will Sarah Palin run for president in 2012? She is keeping a mighty low profile and I can’t decide if she is being clever to stay out of the feeding frenzy right now and wait to step in at just the right time or is she not going to step in? She sure does make the current field look like a big pile of mushy oatmeal (with the exception of Herman Cain).
What are your thoughts?
How are we going to beat Obama in 2012 and save this great country?

The big news yesterday? The Donald won’t be The President. At least, not in 2013.
So, what’s the big news in your neck of the woods?
