Bad news for the Cocktail Party establishment: Mittens Romney’s big donors not backing another presidential run for him

Posted at January 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Cocktail Party GOP, Hillbuzz, The Soggy Sandwich Society

Mittens Romney is a very nice person.  He’s polite and friendly, has very nice hair, brushes his teeth after every meal, and is the man responsible for doing to Massachusetts what Obamacare will do to the rest of the country.

Whoops.

While the rest of the above wins him points with a lot of people, especially cosmetologists, dental hygienists, and product development at Mattel, that last one, Romneycare, means his 2012 presidential bid is dead on arrival.

The Cocktail Party GOP establishment needs to understand that YOU CAN’T IN 2012 RUN AGAINST OBAMA THE MAN WHO DID THINGS SIMILAR TO OBAMA, things people HATE.

A lot of Romney’s big donors realize this, and don’t feel like wasting their contributions on a losing Romney 2012 bid.

The problem we all face is this, and I never see this written about on other sites:  the Cocktail Party establishment has people on the ground in every state.  These people control the GOP organizations at the city, county, and state level.  These are the men and women who are not especially concerned with winning elections, because in many cases, winning means having to do the hard work of governing, and they don’t want to do that.

Instead, they just want to go to cocktail parties, give speeches, pat themselves on the back, run their friends for office, do whatever Democrats want because that guarantees favorable media coverage, then after they lose the election, get ready to do it all again by running another friend for an office no one really expects that person to win.

When one Cocktail Party establishment loses, the Cocktail Party never thinks much about WHY that person lost and does not adjust its plans for future elections accordingly.  Instead, the Cocktail Person just advances the next man on “The List”, whoever’s turn it is to be the next nominee.  Some of these guys, like Mittens Romney, have been waiting for “their turn” since the 1970s.

It is a very orderly, predictable system the Cocktail Party establishment and way too many conservatives in general LOVE.

Not minutes after John McCain lost in 2008, the Cocktail Party started pushing for Romney 2012.  Because it is Romney’s turn, they say.

Thousands of young GOP staffers, consultants, and aspiring politicians bet their careers on Romney 2012, because they know how the Cocktail Party establishment game works.  They wanted to get in early with Romney, so they would be given big jobs with the Romney 2012 campaign.  They feel like their futures and careers depend on Romney becoming the nominee, though I doubt any of them believe he will win the general election.

The only thing that can and will stop these staffers on the ground already from successfully pushing Romney toward a destined-to-lose candidacy is if the big Republican donors put the brakes on this madness and refuse to fund any of it.

Some day, enough will be enough when it comes to business as usual in the Party of Stupid.

Let’s hope that day has now come.

“Welcome to the Republican Party” — email going around

Posted at January 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Conservativism, Essays - Conservativism, Hillbuzz, Tea Party

The below is the text of an email making the rounds again.  I’ve seen it before, and it’s been forwarded to the HillBuzz email hundreds of times, but it always makes me smile whenever I read it.

Chime in with your take below.

*****************************************************************

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so
many others her age, she considered herself to be a very Liberal
Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in Favor of
higher taxes to support more government programs, in other Words
redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch
Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the Lectures that
she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she
felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to
keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher
taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The
self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the
truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how
she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and
let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was
taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which
left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She
didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many
college friends, because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked , ‘How is your friend Audrey
doing?’ She replied, ‘ Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are
easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She Is
so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited
to all the parties and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for
classes because she’s too hung over.’

Her wise father asked his daughter, ‘Why don’t you go to the Dean’s
office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your
friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA, and
certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.’ The
daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired
back, ‘That’s a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I’ve worked really
hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard
work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played
while I worked my tail off!’

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ‘Welcome to The
Republican party.’

New York Ground Report: Ground Zero Victory Mosque

Posted at January 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Boystown, Ground Reports, Hillbuzz, No Pattern Here, Northeast, Unveiling Islam

Dear HillBuzz,

I don’t quite know what to make of this and thought it might interest you too.

About 2 weeks ago, the developer who owns the Park 51 / Cordoba House site announced that Abdul Rauf, the Imam who had been  the public face of the mosque would no longer raise money or speak on behalf of the project. According to the NY Times, this was a surprise to Rauf and the article tries to read the tea leaves of what led to the split (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/15/nyregion/15mosque.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=Abdallah%20Adhami%20&st=cse). Most interestingly, Mr Rauf will no longer be leading services in the temporary mosque now operating in the building; that role will be taken over by Iman Abdallah Adhami who is only identified as having served another Lower Manhattan mosque for many years.

Now the plot thickens… on Wednesday NY1, which is a local news channel owned by Time Warner and shown only on Time Warner cable, aired a piece about the new iman (http://manhattan.ny1.com/content/132886/ny1-exclusive–gay-advocates-take-issue-with-park51-imam ). Apparently Mr Adhami thinks homosexuality is caused primarily by violent emotional or sexual abuse, so you can imagine this has caused some cognitive dissonance for those that have studiously avoided thinking about any of the repressive precepts of Islam. The piece is quite funny in that it ends with attempt to smooth the whole thing over, including comments to the effect that the attitude is not limited to one religion and that actually it’s progress since it’s not as strong a condemnation as other Muslim leaders have made!

What I’d be really interested to know is if you think this could create a groundswell against the whole project or at least reduce it to merely another mosque, which, since it’s literally down the block from an longstanding one, doesn’t really need to be at Ground Zero.

Best,

Naomi near Ground Zero

******************************

Dear Naomi,

A few months ago, one of the gay papers here in Chicago, either Nightspots or BOI Magazine, ran a political cartoon that stunned me, because gay publications are usually so PC and hone to whatever the Democrat Party tells them to write.

The cartoon featured a mosque in the middle of the street.  On one side of it was a “Bacon Emporium”, with people coming and going happily buying all sorts of delicious hams, bacon, pork loins, etc.  On the left side of the mosque, there was a gay bar, with everything from lithe little twinks to big burly leather bears coming and going and having a great time.

The caption read:  Tolerance works both ways.

This was a big cartoon, featured smack dab in the middle of the magazine, instead of a smaller off to the side bit like they also run.  So the editors clearly wanted to make a statement about Islam.

I think this is actually the key to waking a lot of gays up to what the Democrat Party today is really all about.  The Democrats’ support of Islam is support for a militarized ideological cult that murders gay men wherever Islam dominates.

There was an article written by Maureen Dowd a few months ago after a trip she took to Saudi Arabia.  I will never forget reading the part where she’s in some village and asks about the drain in the center of the town square, which seemed so strange because it doesn’t rain much, if at all, in that area so why would they need a massive drain?  ”Oh, that is for the blood, when we behead the homosexuals”, she was told, when she asked her local guide about it.  He talked to her in the voice he’d use if a foreign person asked what a traffic light or stop sign was here in Boystown.

It was chilling…but Dowd had no problem with it, or with any of the degrading and revolting things that were done to her while she, a famous writer, traveled through Saudi Arabia.  At times she was treated like a child, not allowed to speak for herself or to directly handle money. At other times, she was treated like a dog or cat, and not allowed in certain parts of the hotel or various restaurants, because she didn’t have a penis.  Then, there were times when she was just a thing, looked upon as if she had no rights at all, and existed just for the amusement of the disgusting men gaping at her.

The Left loves Islam because Islam hates America and the Left hates America, too, but what the Left doesn’t appreciate is that Islam hates the Left as well.

When Muslim colonists being sent to Europe finally take over one of the smaller European countries, like Denmark or the Netherlands, and become the majority there (as they are set to do), they’ll agitate for Sharia control of that country and will subject the people there to the full impact of the Koran — which is not a religious text, but is in reality a primer for conquest and subjugation of others.  Homosexuals in Europe will be murdered.  Women will be treated as children, animals, or things, depending on the circumstances, just like in Saudi Arabia.  And the Left will be responsible for bringing this upon not only their countrymen, but themselves.

Because so many people went to public school in this country from the 1970s forward, and were taught the PC, multicultural, “all cultures are equal” garbage, many in the gay community are scared to speak up against Islam because they are afraid of being called RAAACISTS! for not agreeing that Islam — with its murder of gays and foul treatment of women — is just as valid a government as anything else.

And let’s be clear on that…Islam intends to be the government wherever it goes.  There is no separation of mosque and state in Islam.  So for all the Leftists who decry Christianity and mock its beliefs and followers to encourage the spread of Islam is just pure lunacy, since wherever Islam goes it intends to one day become not just the majority faith in that country, but the government of the country as well, where it will then systematically murder anyone who doesn’t do what the Muslims want them to do.

Islam is the great evil of our time.  It is my generation’s Third Reich or Soviet Union.  Far too many people are still popping champagne bottles and living it up like it’s the 1920s and they have no idea at all what’s brewing in Bavaria that will lead to widespread chaos and destruction in just a few years.

Thank goodness for Pamela Geller is the last thing I will say on this.  That woman is a national treasure and a real American hero. She is the leading voice in calling Islam out for what it is…and I hope every day more people stand up like she does so that she’s very much not alone.

Muslims can’t murder all of us and the Left can’t shout us all down.

Kate Walsh’s attack on Bristol Palin and the perpetual wedge the Left drives between women voters using abortion as a divider

Posted at January 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Hypocrisy, Lamestream Media, Sarah Palin, The Left

Dear HillBuzz,
Below are links to two Fox News items of possible interest.

One is about how Kate Walsh, the lead actress in “Private Practice,” urged students at St Louis’s Washington University to boycott Bristol Palin’s participation in the school’s “Sexual Responsibility Week,” where Bristol was slated to speak in her capacity as Teen Abstinence Ambassador for the Candie’s Foundation fighting teen pregnancy.

The article notes that Walsh posted to her Twitter followers:

“Welcome to the Idiocracy! RT @elliekirsh: @katewalsh please join students at Wash.U. to boycott Bristol Palin’s speech on abstinence. What does she know about college or abstaining?” Walsh tweeted.

Bristol and the school’s Student Health Advisory Center, which is sponsoring the event, mutually agreed that the controversy  might overshadow the event’s message, and thus Bristol is bowing out.

Walsh is a member of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She also was one of the actresses in the video “Yes We Can” for candidate BO, and campaigned for him in 2008 in various states.

(Once again, the Obamacrats are mounting a concerted campaign to drive a wedge among women voters on the abortion issue. We need to do all we can to stop this. Women such as Walsh are being used as pawns in this Obamacrat game called divide and conquer in order to re-elect BO,  himself a known sexist/misogynist whose overall record on women’s rights is abysmal. Maybe folks like Walsh would prefer seeing college-age women get knocked up and turn to abortion-as-birth control than do anything sensible and responsible such as, oh, maybe practice abstinence or have their partners use condoms.)

The other item is about Tommy Hanson, a Republican would-be mayoral candidate in Chicago. Hanson has a receipt from the Chicago Board of Elections Commissioners confirming that he filed all nominating papers. But, the Board apparently lost his statement of economic interest and thus won’t allow his name on the ballot. The Board calls the receipt Hanson was sent a “clerical error.” (Sound familiar? Do we recall a rather well-known Illinois pol who started his political career by getting all other candidates kicked off the ballot?) Hanson is taking the matter to the Chicago Supreme Court seeking an injunction to stop the printing of the ballots unless his name is allowed on it. (As the article notes, that worked for Rahm.)

Best regards,

CJK in Springfield

More proof Governor Sarah Palin lives rent free in Obama’s nightmares: he’s trying to co-opt Ronald Reagan away from her, since she’s Reagan’s true spiritual heir

Posted at January 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Action Items, Blue Team - Research, Conservativism, Hillbuzz, Political Figures - The Right, President Barack Obama, President Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin, The Left

h/t Moonbattery

Here’s an article in the Washington Times that delves into how ridiculous it is for Obama to claim, as he does in the latest TIME magazine, that he’s “channeling Ronald Reagan”.

Here’s a great spoof on how ridiculous the notion of Obama claiming any part of Reagan’s legacy is, via IOwnTheWorld:

h/t IOwntheWorld

The one thing the Left is really good at, that conservatives don’t seem to grasp as well, is marketing and branding.

It sure seems like all this effort to attach Obama to Reagan is because of the genuine and real threat to Obama that Governor Sarah Palin has always posed to this White House — hence the unrelenting efforts to destroy her.

Some people joke that Governor Palin is “Reagan in a skirt”…but ultimately it’s going to be more that President Reagan was “Palin in a suit”.

I think President Reagan would have really liked Governor Palin, on a very personal level. In the next year, we’d all do well, actually to study the things the Left and media (redundancy alert!) threw at Reagan in 1979-1980 as he campaigned for his first presidential term. As much as they appreciate branding, and are incredibly focus-grouped and practiced in their attacks, the Left only has a set number of things it ever says about anyone on the conservative side.

There are three-ring binders somewhere in the DNC that are dusted off every couple of years and used when someone deems a current situation similar to one they’ve faced before. This reminds me of a scene in the recent documentary on Joan Rivers where the camera crew tapes her filing jokes on index cards in a room filled with apothecary drawers specially made for the purpose. Rivers has moldy old “jokes” going back to the 60s on file, in case she ever again encounters a celebrity or event she can repurpose her old material for.

This is what the Left does with everything…and all those old attacks on Reagan are going to be repurposed and used against Governor Palin.

If we can really research and study on this, we’ll be get ahead of their curve, and effectively blunt their efforts.

Sounds like a great Blue Team Research Action Item.

Kentucky Ground Report: David Kernell edition

Posted at January 29, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Alinsky Methods, Ground Reports, Hillbuzz, Southeast, The Left

Federal Corrections Institution near Summit Kentucky

Dear HillBuzz,

David Kernell’s  home away from home is less than 10 minutes from my house. The Summit Federal Corrections Institute (FCI) in which he now resides is located at Summit, Ky.

It is a minimum security prison complex. With a satellite camp. Fairly large complex. From the photo on line you cannot see the

guard towers or the razor wire fence. The guard towers are no longer used. The complex consists of the prison itself and houses for the warden and other personnel. A different building (camp) for low security prisoners. Ironically the grounds also contain a shooting range. Used by local , state  law enforcement. The complex also has a large area where National Guard and Reserve Units have in the past been used for training.

Back in the 70′s the place was considered a joke.  About twice a month  one or two prisoners simply walked off from a work detail. They never got far before being caught. The area at that time was more or less rural . They would be found in someone’s barn or out building. Sometimes in a local park. I had friends who lived in the area and their wives’were always afraid. That was when they housed murders and rapist at FCI. The bad, bad guys.

Things have improved considerably. The really bad guys no longer are housed in this complex. They still have work details but you never hear of any one wandering away.

I knew one of the guards who worked the main complex. This man was well  liked by prisoners and staff. He was tough but fair.

The prison has a putt-putt golf course, tennis courts, basket ball and weight equipment. From what I am told.

Little Popcorn won’t have it so bad. Other than work details. There is also a community college not far from the complex.

He would be allowed to attend if he so desires.

If he stays 6 months at Summit it will surprise me. Daddy Mike Kernell, a Democrat state Rep in Tennessee, will have him back home in a half way house with the help of the Justice Department.

It has already been said he could return to a half way house early on good behavior.

Here’s a photo of the prison at Summit:
www.bop.gov/locations/ash/index.jsp

www.knoxnews.com has a history of trial. Also a lot of comments bashing Sarah Palin. “It is her fault for being so stupid with her e-mail” is the meme. The usual mantra and BS in the comments.

Sharks Are Not Misunderstood Dolphins and Islam Is Not A Religion of Peace

I’ve often been told rumors from very old, wise people about a time, long before I was born, when “Saturday Night Live” was both funny and relevant.  It’s hard to believe, but in those unimaginably distant days deep into the past, Chevy Chase played a Land Shark who wore various disguises in attempts to break into people’s apartments and eat them.  When subterfuge and gimmicks failed, he just lied and told various idiots he was a dolphin.

She’s invited me on her popular radio show many times — which remains one of the most respected and entertaining conservative programs out there.  She never pulls punches, is never bullied by the Left, and lets Democrats and the Cocktail Party establishment really have it.  On top of all this, she’s an incredibly nice person who has the foresight to organize great projects….such as the one she’s running right now to collect birthday messages for Ronald Reagan’s family so she can print them into a book to give to Nancy Reagan on February 6th (if you have not yet done so, send off a message to be included in the book by emailing Andrea at Radiopatriot@gmail.com).  Deadline is 12 midnight EST on 1/28/11 (so hurry!).

I never knew this until today, but Andrea Shea King was also the announcer giving color commentary in the pre-launch sequence the day of the Challenger Disaster 25 years ago.

I was a grade schooler in Cleveland home in front of the television because the little Catholic school I went to had the day off for some reason (it was either a snow day for us, a teacher in service day, or a day when something weird happened like “the boiler isn’t working and there’s no heat”).  I munched on Frosted Flakes and drank orange juice on the green carpet in front of the TV, our Siberian husky puppy playing with a bone next to me, and I didn’t understand what had happened to the shuttle for the longest time, even after the people on the ground started bawling.  I saw the “Y” shape in the sky, but thought those were just the booster rockets finished with their mission and that the shuttle had just rocketed into space already, leaving that trail behind.  My grandmother dropped a load of whatever she was carrying and when I turned around her hands were up to her face, in horror, and she was crying.  That’s when I realized how devastating it really was.

Andrea Shea King was actually in Mission Control that day. You have heard her voice if you’ve seen any footage of the pre-launch activities of the crew.

If you have listened to her radio show (and if you haven’t, you need to start, immediately, because it’s that good), you will pick up her voice a few seconds into this video as the astronauts get ready to board the van to take them to the shuttle:

Andrea went on to author a special report on what happened, after the White House asked for NASA’s cooperation in preserving what happened for history.

This is a “Forrest Gump” moment for me, where I learn someone I know was a first person witness to a major moment in American history, and I never realized it.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since that day on the floor eating cereal, watching TV, before witnessing that horror live on the air.  In my lifetime, I’ve honestly only had five moments that are burned into my memory as “Where were you when you heard?” days: the Challenger disaster, the Oklahoma City bombing, Princess Diana’s car crash, 9/11, and the night Obama won the presidency.

Four of those were horrible nights for America.  And the other one was a terrible thing to happen to what always seemed like a very nice mother of two, who was just starting to come into her own and be a real three-dimensional person.

Do you have any Challenger memories to share?

It’s late in the evening to get this thread up, but honestly with all the other depressing events happening today with Islamic takeover of Egypt, I just didn’t want to spoil the last day of the work week for people by talking about these tragedies while they were happily thinking about their upcoming weekends.
