Coexist? I don’t think so.

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Bridget // Essays - Islam, Hillbuzz, Unveiling Islam

I’ve been thinking about that “coexist” bumper sticker all day and what it really means.  After reading the article about Congressman Allen West (R-FL) and his statement about people who put that “coexist” bumper sticker on their cars…

“people who display the popular “Coexist” bumper stickers, which use various religious symbols as font, are those who would “give away our country” and “our rights and freedoms and liberties because they are afraid to stand up and confront that which is the antithesis, anathema of who we are.”

I decided to put it all into perspective.  Words don’t do this whole insane tree-hugger-kumbaya concept of “coexist” any justice so I’ve decided to do a pictorial of my explanation of why “coexist” will not work…ever. So…here goes….

No doubt, the world would be a much better place if we could all coexist.  We accept you and your beliefs and you accept us and our beliefs and we all live together in a happy little utopia….isn’t it nice to

but when you do things like this…

and this…

and this….

and this…

and this……

That lovely concept of “coexist” turns into…

(from Infidels are Cool)

 Do you get the picture?

Stay strong Congressman Allen West…God Bless You!

State of the Union Watch Open Thread

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Featured Content, Hillbuzz, Lamestream Media, Open Threads, Political Figures, Political Figures - The Left, The Left

UPDATE: Listen to Tammy Bruce’s live stream:  http://www.talkstreamlive.com/talk_radio/tammy_bruce.stream

What are you expecting to hear in the State of the Union Address tonight?

What are your general feelings about the SotUA?

Personally, I honestly can’t stand these things, other than I enjoy seeing everyone in government together in one place like that, sort of like Circus of the Stars back in the 80s, or Battle of the Network Stars before that.  It was fun to see Tony Danza dressed up as a clown juggling with Charlotte Rae or Farrah Fawcett chasing Loni Anderson down the field and pushing her into the mud.

Now, THAT would be one heck of a State of the Union Address, if instead of just coming together and sitting for a while, then jumping up to applaud like fools because they were told to, our Senators and Congress critters got together once a year and competed in various test of strength and other physical challenges.  Some of the dumber ones could just play televised Uno (until Clair McCaskil ate too many of the cards for the game to continue — “I thunk it was Candyland we were playin’, that’s why!”).

As the SotUA stands right now, it’s just a partisan pep rally as ridiculous as the party conventions in a presidential election year.  It’s all a massive waste of money and time.

I am curious to see how well Paul Ryan does this year — I hope he hits the Republican response out of the park and doesn’t embarrass himself the way Bobby Jindal did back in 2009 (or how he does on a daily basis in Louisiana).  I honestly don’t recall who gave the rebuttal last year, so that shows how good of a job that person did.  So I hope Ryan is memorable in all the right ways.

Curious to hear what Michele Bachmann has to say as well.  Hope it involves Pigford in some way.

What are your thoughts as the SotUA draws near?

Live post your thoughts as it airs in this thread and chime in with your take afterwards with anything that seems especially memorable or newsworthy.

Illinois Supreme Court will indeed hear appeal of Rahm Emanuel’s residency disqualification

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Chicago Politics, Hillbuzz, Illinois Politics

The Illinois Supreme Court announced it will, indeed, hear the appeal of Rahm Emanuel’s residency disqualification:  but it will not hear any oral arguments or accept any new written briefs.

Instead, it will just rely on the documents already submitted for the case and the rulings of the lower court.

The case will be decided on an expedited basis.

Anyone with legal knowledge know exactly what all this means?

Can you read anything in the tea leaves of the decision not to hear any oral arguments?

Is it common not to accept a new set of briefs in an appeal like this?

Any insights?

QUESTION: Is THIS the real reason Obama keeps chain-smoking?

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz, Political Figures, Political Figures - The Left, The Left

Nicotine slows the debilitating symptoms of Parkinson’s.

The White House keeps saying “intestinal parasites” are the reason for Obama’s massive weight loss and other odd problems. Other people blame his smoking.

Could the smoking actually be something he does to control his health problems instead?

Unrelated random fact for use if you are ever on Jeopardy:  intestinal parasites were a common ailment of gay men in the 1970s who frequented bathhouses.

Spontaneous (and well-dressed) mob magically appears to scream about Rahm Emanuel rightfully being knocked off the Chicago Mayoral ballot

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Alinsky Methods, Chicago Politics, Hillbuzz, Hillbuzz TV, Illinois Politics, Multimedia, The Left

When’s the last time you saw a spontaneous mob of people burst forth about anything?

If you’ve ever in your life witnessed this, have you ever seen that mob be so well-dressed?

And so United Colors of Benetton ads diverse?

Rahm Emanuel is not liked by the black community of Chicago because he’s never done anything for the black community of Chicago.  So, it’s strange to see so many black faces, placed prominently in the front of this spontaneous mob, screaming for Emanuel to be put back onto the Chicago Mayoral ballot.

It’s also strange to see such an angry, talking-points response from supposed members of the public when asked about Emanuel’s residency disqualification.

Have you ever dealt with the general public?

I bet most of them don’t know there was any controversy at all regarding Emanuel’s eligibility to run for Mayor.  Let alone be so informed they could rattle off talking points like in the video above.

Almost as if they were all coached.

Like, at a big meeting where they had coffee, doughnuts, and a big pep talk before being handed signs and marched down together in front of the Thompson Center to scream and yell like this, with set spots assigned to them in the mob’s coreographed staging so it would seem as diverse and inclusive as possible.

Nah.  Rahm Emanuel would never engineer a spontaneous mob of magically appearing, well-dressed, diverse, well-rehearsed protestors now, would he?

QUESTION: Why didn’t Obama just create a fake birth certificate and release that a long time ago?

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz, Political Figures, Political Figures - The Left, The Left

Here’s an interesting question I think I already know the answer to, but let’s just presume the reason Obama, to this day, refuses to release his original birth certificate is because that document no longer exists.  So, why didn’t he and his campaign team just create a fake long form birth certificate using samples of other Hawaiian birth certificates as a template?

I believe his original birth certificate was sealed by court order in the 1970s when he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro in Indonesia and his name was legally changed to either “Barry Soetoro” or “Soeterokh Something or Another”, which sounds like a popular name on the Klingon home world (where Michelle Antoinette shops for all her belts), but is actually one of the many names Obama has used throughout his life.

People will still be scratching their heads and sorting all this out long after this one-term presidency is mercifully over.

But, why didn’t he end all this controversy by just releasing a document he claimed was his long form birth certificate?

I think it’s honestly because he knows the real birth certificate is still out there somewhere, and that if he released a forged copy there would be some legal mechanism allowed to compel the court in Hawaii to release his unsealed copy.

Repeatedly, we’ve heard from people like Hawaiian Governor Neil Abercrombie that no one’s able to locate Obama’s original birth certificate, and that even if they did find it (perhaps being used as a cocktail napkin in a magical room where Amelia Earhart, the Lindbergh Baby, and Jimmy Hoffa play cards while waiting for the unicorns Obama has promised us all), Hawaii wouldn’t be able to release it because of privacy laws that limit release of the birth certificate to family members with a vested interest in it.

Would Obama’s presentation of a falsified long form certificate change all that?

Could Hawaii be compelled to release its sealed document if the public had a fake document Obama produced, so that the citizens of Hawaii now had a vested interest in the state proving the authenticity of what Obama put forward?

Is that why he didn’t bother to create a fake long form document?

OR, is it that Obama knows there are actual copies of his birth certificate out there, in the hands of people who would release them should he produce a forgery…and that what he’s really afraid of is being caught in this fakery?

I think another option in all of this is that Obama’s decidedly taken a no-release-of-any-documents approach to life, because he used the name Barry Soetoro to gain all sorts of foreign student and financial aid perks and probably also used that identity to dodge the Selective Service requirements when American men turn 18.  I can’t for the life of me imagine Obama actually registering for Selective Service because: (1) he doesn’t seem to do anything he doesn’t want to do, and I can’t imagine him wanting to do this, (2) he certainly wasn’t raised to have a patriotic duty to register, and (3) registering wouldn’t have benefitted him in any way, so why would he bother.

If he produced a faked birth certificate, he’d have to produce faked college records that showed better grades than the straight Ds he actually got.  He’d also have to produce faked law records showing he was a better attorney than he actually was, and faked state senate records showing he actually did things for his constituents.

Could the reason he’s forever refusing to produce a birth certificate be that he knows pressure would mount to produce documents related to all the other mysteries in his life, and he knows he can’t fabricate them all?

It seems like no one out there wants to be responsible for being the person who brings forth the mythical birth certificate that would collapse this entire shaky tower of mystery.

But it sure seems like it’s all going to come crashing down, lickety-split, once that birth certificate comes forward, somehow, eventually.

UPDATE: Do you remember when Debbie Schlussel ran what she believes is a faked Selective Service registration for Obama back in November 2008?

The most incongruous and bizarre campaign ad you will ever see: Tim Pawlenty edition

Posted at January 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Cocktail Party GOP, Hillbuzz, Hillbuzz TV, Multimedia, The Soggy Sandwich Society

This is the new campaign ad Tim Pawlenty is running.

Technically, it’s for the new book he has out, which has sold about 6,500 copies in its first two weeks of release.

“Tim Pawlenty: the Cure for Mild to Severe Insomnia”.

I think Governor Sarah Palin sold that many books in the first minute “Going Rogue” was on sale.

Commenters across the Net have remarked the commercial above looks and sounds like it was produced by Michael Bay.  The music in it seems ripped from Transformers or Armageddon Day, or any number of other larger than life action movies.

I have to say that Tim Pawlenty seems like a very nice man.  I think he is probably a very good person, and I bet he would make an excellent Cabinet member in a Palin administration.  Secretary of the Interior, Agriculture, or Education maybe.

But this man is not going to inspire the grassroots excitement and effort necessary to beat Obama in a presidential race.

Not even if he has James Cameron start making commercials for him in which he’s revealed to be a T-Paw-1000 cybernetic savior sent from the future to rescue us all from Skynet.

Not every nice, boring, person who can’t sell very many books should run for president, no matter what the Cocktail Party GOP establishment wants.
