Thanks Ann Coulter for the tweet…and for the focus on the need to take the word “polarizing” away from the Left
Thanks Ann Coulter for the Tweet today about our effort to take the word “polarizing” away from the Left, so the Media can no longer use it to hammer female politicians (from both sides of the aisle, actually, since the term has been used against Hillary Clinton as well as Governor Sarah Palin and other women the Left has targeted on various occasions).
By 2012, our goal on the Purple Team is to completely neuter the word “polarizing” so lazy journalists no longer use it as their default attack on women who won’t shut up and do whatever the Left wants them to do (which is usually to go away).
Knowing Ann Coulter’s watching, and rooting us on, gives us that much more energy to put into this.
Ground Report: Calling Washington University out for canceling Bristol Palin appearance
Ground Report: How to use creativity to irk the Left and beat them at their own games
Dear HillBuzz,
Thanks everyone for your support with the poster I created. Palinpatriot is a very brave person to do what he did, in San Francisco, and it really is like going into the belly of the beast.
Kevin asked me if I’d send in a Ground Report about using creativity and art to irk the left. So, here goes…
First of all, a little about myself. My background is in event production, design, and marketing. So, I’m all about selling the experience. In my professional career I often take historic themes and turn them into event designs. One of the ways I do it is to take authentic documents and turn them into menus. For instance, an original menu from an Alcatraz prison guards’ Christmas dance becomes a dessert menu. I think you get the idea.
So, I’m used to tweaking things and making familiar images not like they seem.
With the poster I designed for Palinpatriot, I wanted to take a well known iconic image of Harvey Milk and make it all about Sarah. The look is the same so it may pass unnoticed for a while, (which is a good thing because once it’s discovered it won’t last long), also, once it is noticed it will really flip some people out. Since it’s a cheerful, upbeat image, we aren’t being hateful or vicious.
I believe that there is little that can be done to turn the true believers. However, in a city like SF there are a lot of people who are basically apolitical who just “go along to get along.” It’s those people, particularly the thinking ones with a sense of humor that we want to reach. At least that’s how I feel about it. There’s also the element of really annoying the true believers, which is a great way to get them to expose their hypocrisy.
My philosophy about this is that we need to keep things fun and upbeat. I don’t want to go down the “Hate Obama” road. It accomplishes nothing and only exposes us to being called hateful and vicious, with reason.
One of my major peeves about conservative art is that so much of it is unsophisticated and kind of hokey. There’s nothing wrong with the Walmart crowd and their enthusiasm for the red, white, and blue. But, in a lot of urban areas that kind of art is not taken seriously. We need to beat them at their own game by bringing more sophisticated, subtle, and less “in-your-face” patriotic art to the masses.
So, whatever we do art -wise should be fun and clever. If there are iconic images in your area, use them. Just twist them to suit your purposes. For many years the left has “owned” the art world, so let’s turn their “art” against them.
This is a perfect example. A popular image out here is the silhouette of Brian Wilson’s beard. If you don’t follow baseball, he is the SF Giant’s closer, with a beard that inspired the motto “Fear the Beard.” If we take that idea and twist it, we can get this:
Same concept, different meaning.
Same with the famous Che Guevara poster. Change the background to pink, add Sarah, and a little pink star.
These are just examples of the kinds of things you can do.
Remember, however, the big boogeyman in the world of art….copyrights! If you use someone else’s image and tweak it, (like the poster above), you can get away with it if it’s used for a “guerilla art attack.” Odds are, it won’t stay up long, and you can get away with it being “parody” as long as you don’t try to make any money off of it.
If you want to print T-shirts and sell them you must get written consent from the original artist to use their image for re-sale, and you will have to pay them for the rights. As a professional artist I have no problem with someone using one of my designs like Palinpatriot did. However, I wouldn’t like it if someone snatched my design and made money off of it. It’s theft, plain and simple, and as an artist I’d like to make sure that my image is used as I intended. If someone were to take one of my pro-Palin images and make it anti-Palin and also make a profit doing it….that would be adding insult to injury.
So, to you artists out there, remember to have fun. Keep whatever you create upbeat and positive, it will drive the angry left crazy.
For those of you who want to use artists’ images, be respectful. Don’t steal them for your own profit, and make sure you have their permission for whatever your “mission” is.
It’s time that conservative artists make a stand, and have fun doing it!

Local San Francisco news covers pro-Palin positive posters popping up. How’s that for alliteration?
NBC’s Bay Area affiliate is covering the pro-Palin positive posters that PalinPatriot popped over the nasty anti-Palin posters the Left has been smearing the Governor with.
If you are a creative person, start thinking about posters you could create that showcase the Governor in a positive light. Make them something you would be proud to show the Governor and have her autograph…something Todd would like so much he’d want to get a copy of to frame and hang in their home.
Whatever you do when creating anything related to the Governor, please keep that in mind: always have it be something you would want her to be proud of, not have to defend or be embarrassed by.
As things heat up in the race against Obama, emotions will flare up and things are going to get wild and crazy, but if from Day One we use our creativity in a responsible and measured way, always remembering we need to help the Governor and put her in the best light possible, then our efforts will always be positive.
The Left will screech and howl, because we’re being effective, and they hate being beaten in creative realms because that’s supposed to be “their turf”.
Not anymore, folks.
GOLD ACTION ITEM: Chuck Schumer insists the three branches of Government are “House, Senate, and Presidency”. Match this up against him calling a conservative stupid at some point.
Here’s Chuck Schumer insisting the three branches of government are: “A House, a Senate, and a President”.
Can you recall any instances where Chuck Schumer ever called a conservative stupid in any way, made fun of the Tea Party, or otherwise insulted anyone’s intelligence?
Whenever Democrats do things like this, we need to put their gaffes and goofs side-by-side with their attacks on others, to show who the fool really is.
Any good examples that come to mind?
Wisconsin Ground Report — How is Ron Johnson doing so far as Senator?
Dear HillBuzz,
Senator Ron Johnson from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, soundly beat three-time incumbent Russ Feingold in November. You cannot overstate how unlikely it was that anyone could unseat Feingold, who was well respected on both sides of the aisle for being able to work with everyone and for being “Mavericky.” Our best hope to beat him a year ago was former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson and HHS Secretary under Bush, but I think his history would have made it extremely difficult to make any headway against Feingold. Ron’s success, and Feingold’s defeat, was extremely hard to take for my Democratic friends. The were actually down and depressed after the elections. I could relate, because it’s just how I felt in November of 2008.
Ron is the owner of a very profitable small plastics manufacturing company and for many years has been very active in the community, volunteering his time and money for many big community projects. He worked quietly behind the scenes, and few people know how really generous the Johnson’s were over the years. If you met him, you would not know how wealthy he is (or was, after self-funding much of his campaign) because he is humble, hard working, and does not live extravagantly.
I attribute his win over Feingold to many things—a very well-run campaign, a lot of money poured into relatively positive commercials that ran non-stop from May until November, shaking thousands of hands around the State, his laid back comfort in front of audiences and cameras, and yes, the fact that he was a relatively unknown. Also, as hard as they tried to find dirt on him, the media and Feingold found none. He’s about as clean a guy as they come, and he had to be, or else Feingold’s campaign would have found something and would have attacked him for it without mercy.
Ron’s main focus is smaller government, national debt reduction, maintaining and strengthening our status as THE economic powerhouse in the world, and freeing up the private sector from over-regulation that stifles economic growth. This is a true case of Mr Smith Goes to Washington….a regular guy with a good life, who could have lived very comfortably and happily in Oshkosh, who has been called upon to serve his country, and is jumping into it with both feet. He had never even been to Washington before this campaign, and his wife had never been there until November when they went there to find a place to live.
He seems to have made a bit of a splash already in Washington. Shortly after being sworn in, he traveled with several other Senators to Afghanistan to see the operations first hand. He has been assigned to the Senate appropriations and budget committees, along with homeland security and aging. It is rare for freshmen to land seats on the appropriations and budget committees, and a local political science professor claims that this suggests that he is already highly regarded by Republican leadership. This professor, who was extremely negative toward Johnson during the campaign, says that Johnson “seems to be one of the more reasonable persons among the people the tea party supported.”
He said throughout the campaign that he will never vote with his re-election in mind. I hope that he is able to maintain that ideal, and will be watching him closely.

Today Florida Judge Roger Vinson may deliver another blow to Obamacare
Federal Judge Roger Vinson looks like he might issue his Obamacare ruling today.
The federal government does not have the authority to compel citizens to purchase things.
The unconstitutional and reckless law Democrats rammed through Congress in 2009, without many of them even reading it, is predicated on the federal government forcing people against their will to buy things.
As we’ve said here before time and again, if Obamacare is allowed to stand, then where do Democrats stop in terms of forcing people to buy things?
Do you honestly believe they wouldn’t use this precedent to require citizens purchase other goods from private companies…such as goods that are made by union shops so that the unions get richer, which means more contributions to the Democrat Party?
Hopefully, Vinson will rein in this madness today.
It won’t be the end of Obamacare, but it will be yet another rebuke that reaffirms the belief that, no, the federal government CANNOT force you to buy things against your will.
It was never given that ability, it does not have that ability, and it will never have that ability.
Awaiting Vinson’s take on this with great interest.
Cocktail Party GOP establishment’s major vulnerability: ethanol subsidies and Iowa vote-buying
Here’s a great article on how much Newt Gingrich has pushed ethanol subsidies through the years.
Four of every ten rows of corn are currently (and stupidly) wasted as ethanol additives in gasoline.
This makes the gasoline less effective, wears on the motor, causes more pollution, and requires more fossil fuels to be used in the whole process because the machines used to plant, tend, and harvest the corn all run on — wait for it — GASOLINE.
Ethanol is a giant scam cooked up to enrich agribusiness and make Iowa voters happy.
Since Iowa is the first presidential nominating contest, and the Media loves the idea of ethanol, the Cocktail Party GOP establishment pushes ethanol even more than Democrats do.
Bad science and political motivations are 100% behind this.
Newt Gingrich is one of the biggest offenders. There is actually footage of him and Nancy Pelosi sitting on a couch together, outside of Congress, talking about how much the two of them love ethanol.
If only they’d both start drinking it together, too.
Happy Birthday to Andrea Shea King, an American original and a voice of the Resistance
Today is the one and only Andrea Shea King’s birthday, so I truly hope you stop by her site and send her some birthday love today, or email her at Radiopatriot@gmail.com.
This woman is incredible, and incredibly kind and gracious to boot. It is an absolute delight to appear on her radio show, because she’s the most professional host in the business, with a real God-given talent for hitting hard when she needs to while remaining as sweet as molasses the whole time.
Andrea Shea King is playing a huge role in the American Resistance to the Left and everything Obama is trying to do to this country. She’s taken a lot of flak for speaking out against this Administration and for being a driving force of the Tea Party in Florida. If you don’t yet listen to her show every night, you need to, and you should get her podcasts as well to play in your car. They’re incredible.
She gets the most unique and unusual guests, packs a lot into each broadcast, and always talks about the things other radio hosts are afraid to touch.
If it’s real news, and it’s damaging to the current White House, you will find no better source than Andrea Shea King.
I am delighted to call Andrea a friend, and very grateful for her help in covering stories important to HB in the last few years. I hope she has a wonderful birthday today, and keeps doing what she’s doing every day, because we’re all counting on her to continue being one of the voices of the Resistance through the 2012 campaign.
Please thank her for her service and commitment today, and wish her the Happy Birthday she truly deserves.
You are a class act and a real fighter, Andrea…and the world’s a better place because you are in it…so Happy Birthday to you from all of your fans!
Purple Action Item: Brainstorm how to prevent the Media from picking the GOP’s 2012 nominee
The media picks the Republicans’ presidential nominee, intending to install a GOP candidate that will lose to whichever Democrat is running that year.
They even tried to do this with George W. Bush in 2000, believing Al Gore would carry Arkansas and Tennessee and best Bush for the presidency (since the Media thought Bush was so dumb, and would lose to Gore since he was such a cowboy easily caricatured by them).
1996 was the big push for the “it’s his turn!” Bob Dole, with another “it’s his turn!” run by John McCain in 2008.
For 2012, the Media’s already pushing “it’s his turn!” perpetual candidate Mittens Romney, and other straight-out-0f-central-casting lifeless, stale, Cocktail Party GOP establishment soggy sandwiches who may be nice enough guys (polite to the last), but who don’t have it in them to inspire the massive grassroots network that will be needed to overcome the Media’s planned unprecedented push for Obama’s re-election.
If you thought their efforts on Obama’s behalf in 2008 were no-holds-barred, just wait until the media launches its scheme to guarantee the “historic and unprecedented first black president’s” re-election. They know very well that our culture judges one-term American presidents largely as failures, and that Bill Clinton is the only Democrat to win re-election since Roosevelt. The stakes will be very high, thus, in 2012…and 50% of the Left’s Obama re-election plan is making sure he’s put up against a Republican the Media has a strategy for destroying.
Try as they might, they just can’t destroy Governor Sarah Palin, and they know it. She’ll take whatever they throw at her, the way she always does, and will absolutely wipe the floor with Obama, as Rush Limbaugh repeatedly points out.
To start our “Purple Team” efforts to help Governor Palin, let’s start by brainstorming ways we can prevent the Media from picking the 2012 GOP nominee.
Part of this is researching how the Media has picked GOP candidates before, both in presidential races, but also at the state and local level. Let’s find examples of the Media getting away with this, where favorable coverage in a primary pushed a losing general election candidate over the threshold and guaranteed a win for the Democrat.
I don’t think most conservatives realize this happens over and over again. The Cocktail Party GOP establishment clearly doesn’t see what’s going on. When I read the comments on sites like Redstate or Ace of Spades, I’m often struck by how naive some of the posters are, when they say things like, “Mitch Daniels is great for 2012 because nobody can say a bad word about him. He’s a nice man and the media loves him. There’s no way they will rip him apart or make him look bad, he’s just done too good of a job as governor in Indiana and people like him too much”.
Seriously.
I’ve seen too many comments written to that ridiculous effect.
It’s like the guys who write that stuff have amnesia…because this is the garbage they said about John McCain becoming the 2008 nominee. That the Media loved him. That the Media would never say a bad word about him. That reporters liked him and that would guarantee fair coverage.
These people are delusional.
Start thinking of ways we can, collectively, inspire conservatives across the country to break this cycle and start looking at a Republican 2012 candidate the Media can’t break, can’t destroy, instead of the mythical Republican the Media would love and respect so much they’d never dream of giving bad coverage to…because that person just doesn’t exist, no matter how much these fanboys want that person to.
And it’s sure as Hell not Mitch Daniels.

UPDATE: No sooner did I post the above when I noticed someone caught the media pushing Jon Huntsman for the 2012 Republican nomination today.
http://althouse.blogspot.com/2011/01/barack-obama-braces-for-jon-huntsman.html
Part of the Purple Team will be a concerted effort to record the full picture of the Media’s quest to push one of these men to the 2012 nomination instead of Governor Palin. There’s about seven of these guys the Media actively provides love-letter-grade positive coverage to, in hopes that conservatives will say, “Palin is too polarizing. We should go with someone who is beloved, like that guy Huntsman. No one hates him. Now, let’s eat our cucumber and mayonnaise sandwiches and compliment each other’s blazers at this cocktail party reception because we are so clever, now that we found a candidate the Media loves, instead of that mean old polarizing Palin”.
“Polarizing” is a word the Leftist media invented to take down female candidates it doesn’t want to win.
Especially while, with the other hand, pushing forward losing males the Media relentlessly praises, so that idiots at cocktail parties can engage in dialogue like that above.
How can we create a tracking system that really highlights what the Media is up to with this, so that anyone looking at it can see right through this garbage?
People with great presentation and organizational skills, please chime in now.
