Absolutely ZERO election watch parties in Boystown tomorrow…because "it will be depressing"

Posted at November 1, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Do you remember the Tim Burton movie Batman Returns? Of course you do. Michelle Pfeiffer rocks that black stitched leather homesewn Catwoman costume in it that’s not only fabulous but has become THE standard for catwomen near and far.

The movie also morphed The Penguin into a horrific Victorian grotesque who tried to run for Mayor of Gotham, with a gang of circus folk helping him.

“Circus folk” is what my friend Althea calls the guys I date, which I take umbrage with until she accurately notes that several of my exes really were in circuses, or circus themed dance performances, or did trapeze studies while in performing arts schools.

“A lot of the rest just belong in the circus, but don’t realize it just yet,” Althea opines, whenever she tries to talk me out of dating a bartender, dancer, underwear model, go-go boy, VJ, designer, or cabaret singer.

“AKA your circus folk, like I’ve been saying, but cracker won’t listen,” Althea says.

She is basically right, but I can’t help liking who I like…and I can’t help that these sorts of guys all like hanging out at places like Sidetrack that I like in Boystown.

Normally, on election nights, there is a giant party at Sidetrack with patriotic bunting, banners celebrating Democrats, balloons in scarlet, azure, and cream – because nothing is ever plain old red, white, or blue in Boystown – and the massive TV screens tuned into MSNBC to watch Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann cheer Democrats to victory. My circus folk gather to watch together, drink, and celebrate.

Not this year.

“There is no party because Tuesday is going to be more of a depressing ship wreck of disappointment than The Little Mermaid on Broadway”, someone told me when I asked if Sidetrack was doing an election night event.

For those who don’t speak “Boystown” I will translate the Monday night showtunes idiom by saying The Little Mermaid on Broadway is widely considered in gay circles to be the most humiliating and tragic Broadway misfire in our generation.

Those amazing songs.

A movie beloved by almost everyone but the singular exception of octopus ladies – and possibly Maud Adams.

The mighty House of Mouse and its deep pockets behind it.

All that talent, opportunity, money, and effort completely wasted on a blundering epic disaster that destroyed careers and left longtime supporters brokenhearted and dejected.

Hold on, Ariel, am I still talking about the tanked blunderwater musical that stunk…or what Democrats did since taking control of the country on January 20th, 2009?

Because, honestly, the circus folk I love, surround myself with, and date here in Boystown feel the same about that Little Mermaid stinkfest as they do about the Democrat Party these days.

“The Democrats are a stinkfest and I hate them,” Althea said, when I told her Sidetrack would not have an election night party this year.

But they ARE having a charity wine tasting on Wednesday that surprisingly enough a reader in the bar bought me a ticket to, saying, “Here. Go to this. A lot of those full of themselves will be there still howling and crying over Tuesday. You go and talk to all of them and see how they process what happened. See whom they blame. Then laugh and laugh and drink all their wine, as they whine and whine”.

This all reminds me of that scene at the end of Batman Returns after Bats ruined Penguin’s bid for Mayor and his circus folk band of eccentrics abandoned him in the squalid abandoned zoo he used as his lair.

That place looked like a moldy, rotting, stinkfest too…and all Penguin was left with were his unthinking, remote controlled penguin cyborg henchmen.

All Obama is apparently left with now is apparently the leftiest of the far Left.  Everyone else outside Daily Kos has abandoned him.

The Batman is coming…and it’s actually a woman named Sarah under that cowl. This will not end well for Democrats.

And the circus folk of Boystown know it.

November 3rd is a VERY strange day to hold an event at Sidetrack. I was a top party planner in Chicago for several years and I never, ever booked events the first week of a month: this is when rent is due. A large percentage of gay guys live check to check. They are usually too broke to do anything like a wine tasting until the THIRD week of the month.

Since Halloween was just this past Saturday, it’s even stranger to have this event the day after tomorrow, no matter how much even the most random Jake Gyllenhaal reference is all but guaranteed to pique interest in Boystown.

It is seriously almost as if Art, Chuck, and Pepe at Sidetrack knew a lot of gay Leftists would need an excuse to drink – and a rare open bar – the day after the midterm elections.

Which is totally what I would have done if I was them.

These guys run the most famous and popular gay bar in the world because they really know their customers.

And their customers, including my circus folk, will not want to be out in the bar watching the Titanic epic fail Democrats are going to suffer Tuesday.

They will be at home crying with Matthews and Olbermann…will go to bed angry and early…and will wake up the next day needing lots of drinks.

Hence an oddly scheduled Sidetrack wine tasting that very same day.

Purrfectly timed, as Catwoman would agree.

What are YOU specifically going to do tomorrow and then starting November 3rd to make sure the Cocktail Party GOP establishment does NOT continue go-along-to-get-along business as usual in Washington.

Posted at November 1, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

I want this to be your brainstorming thread.

I can tell you things we do here at Buzzquarters, and it’s my practice to show you what we are up to so that you can join in with whatever we are doing to either hit the Left hard, take down the Democrat party, or give the Cocktail Party GOP the smackdown it deserves…while continuing to support the Tea Party cause and conservatives like Governor Palin whom we believe in.

But, I want YOU to use this thread to tell us — and everyone who is reading — what YOU are going to do, specifically, tomorrow to help candidates you support GOTV…and then hold those winning candidates to the fire starting November 3rd so that the Cocktail Party GOP establishment in DC does not believe it’s back to fun and games and reckless spending on their own pork projects.

There needs to be no more earmarking by anyone.  Period.

There needs to be a limit to how long bills can be, so that people can read and understand them.  Period.

There needs to be enough time for the public to know what’s in a bill and weigh in on it before a Senator or Congressperson votes on it.  Period.

No exceptions.  No more business as usual.

I have told you this a hundred times, at least, but I will say this again:  one of the fatal genetic flaws in conservatives is that you think election day settles things and then the day after it’s time to forget about politics and get back on your couches and drink Pepsi all day.  You have a big Election Night Results Party and toss back all sorts of wonderful cocktails, nibble many delicious tiny sandwichese or quiches, and pat each other on the backs and compliment each other’s taste in blue blazer (for the men) or pearls (for the ladies) or blue blazers and pearls combinations (if you are Lindsey Graham or Charlie Crist).

This has to stop.

No one should wear pearls with a blazer, ever.  At the most, accessorize with an heirloom broach or some snappy earrings, but save the pearls for a nice pantsuit or more formal evening attire.  Really.  You need to learn at least one thing from the gay Hillary guy site you seem to haev stumbled upon.

In all seriousness, the Cocktail Party GOP establishment has already telegraphed that it will not fight Obamacare, that it will try to destroy the Tea Party movement, and that it has declared open war on Governor Palin and her supporters.  The Cocktail Party GOP establishment crowd is personified in people like Charlie Crist, LeNa JaBrowski (the wayward Senator from Alaska who broke her promise to respect the GOP primary and is now running as a write-in candidate, encouraging her supporters, all dozen of them, to draw pictures of her on their ballots and write LeNA really big in red crayon), Mike Castle, and other sore losers who either go Independent, convert to Democrats, or refuse to endorse their opponents after losing primaries.

In 2012, I want to see every Cocktail Party member challenged in primaries by an actual conservative.  I want the Tea Party to focus itself on defeating every single Cocktail Party Republican two years from now…and I want to see some mechanism in place to punish any Republican severely for going the Crist/JaBrowski/Castle route and ignoring the will of voters because of their own blind, aristocratic ambitions.

We need to brainstorm how to get to that place, where we defeat the Cocktail Party establishment and set up a sytem where once they’re defeated they are removed from any influence whatsoever…because we don’t want to contend with Crist/JaBrowski/Castle nonsense two years from now when all efforts should be focused on taking down Obama and Senators like Claire McCaskill who were his handmaidens and co-conspirators.

Let’s get intos specifics of what average people on the ground can do that cost little money but take up about an hour or so a day (or less) so that you can start working daily political activism into your schedules.

Dinner is at 6pm.

Lil’ Suzie has ballet from 7-8pm.

From 9pm until your beddy-bye time at 10pm or whenever could be time for you to do something specific and useful politically.

We just need to figure out, together, what that can be.

I have some ideas, but I want YOU to come up with stuff on your own, together. It will be better than anything I could have come up with because it will be specific to YOU and YOUR talents.

And, dammit, you are chock full of talent.

You underestimate yourselves.

You are all writers, artists, activists, entertainers, strategists, and political forces in your own rights.

If I have a mission in life, it’s to get you off your butt so you can see that…and then put that talent God gave you to work.  Because THAT IS WHY IT IS THERE, to be used when needed.

And I will continue to tell you ever day that now is the time it is needed.

Your butt loves sitting on that couch and I get that, because couches sure are comfy and ice cold Pepsi is wonderful to drink.  I, too, love the beads of frosty sweat if forms on the outside of the glass and I love how the bubbles tickle my nose when I drink it.

Know what I love more?

America.

And kicking the Left’s can nine ways to Sunday.

This is more rewarding, fun, and productive than sitting on the couch drinking Pepsi and having farting contests with household animals…or whatever it is you are doing instead of getting involved and absolutely terrorizing both the Left and the Cocktail Party GOP establishment.

So, please tell me what specifically you are doing for GOTV efforts.

If you are a daily reader, I expect a comment from you in this thread telling us what you are doing.  I don’t care if you are a lurker who never comments, or someone mad gremlins eat your comments, or what.  I don’t want to hear any excuses for you not taking five minutes and spelling out what you are going to do when you wake up tomorrow to help GOTV efforts on the ground for candidates you support…and what you are going to do starting November 3rd to make sure every Republican elected on Tuesday knows who she or he really works for:  US.

The reason I want you to do this is because other people reading this threat out there, who want to help but don’t know how, and who will be jazzed and full of energy over the election need your ideas and inspiration.  They need to see that regular, normal people in suburbia or rural America can do concrete, daily, time-manageable things to take the step into political activism when America needs them most.

This carries much more weight than me just telling people things they can do.  I want every daily reader to say what she or he is going to do because that’s proof positive regular people with lives and families can indeed figure out how to make a difference in politics.

YOU can do that too.

You NEED to do that too.

Because America needs it.

So start brainstorming here and let’s start looking at how we’re going to impact races in 2012 by not ceding a single day to the Left or its Cocktail Party GOP enablers.

Funny Halloween anecdote: Who Is Che?

Posted at November 1, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Yesterday, I stopped a guy walking down Halsted here in Boystown with some of his friends and asked him who Che Guevara was.

This isn’t something I do normally, or to people who are not, at that moment, dresssed like Che Guevara.  Though it would be funny if I did.

This was a young gay guy who took the time to grow his beard out, Che-like, put on his black beret and fatigues and had some symbols on him that were Che-related.

So, I very nicely went up to him and his friends (the others were dressed as a cowboy, some kind of drag alien, and a very convincing Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas) and said, “Excuse me, I know that you are Che Guevara and you took a lot of time on your costume and you look just like him.  I’m confused, though, can you tell me WHO Che Guevara was?  I know his name and his image but I can’t remember who he was.  Can you tell me?”

The guy smiled at the compliment on his costumemanship, but then said he didn’t really know who Che was, only that “he’s cool”.  He said he had a tee shirt with him when he was in college that he bought at the tee shirt and poster fair they had on campus when he was a freshman (at which, I presume, he also bought an Edvard Munsch “Scream” print, some Klimt lithographs, and a copy of “The Prophet” by Khalil Gibran too…because there is nothing better than being a walking freshman cliche on a liberal campus).

I asked his friend the cowboy if he knew who Che was and he said, “Oh, like he was a military guy.  I think in Mexico.  He was a general in the Mexican War”.

“Yah, I read about him,” the drag Martian said. “He was like totally famous for that, and stuff”.

“What kind of stuff?,” I asked.  “What else did he do?”

“Uh, I think he was the guy that freed Mexico, or maybe it was Argentina, something like that,” Jack Skellington said.  His face was covered in a black hood and the Skellington head was a marrionette-style puppet that was attached to his chest and “talked” in front of him, which was super creepy.  Neither he nor his extra puppet head had any idea what they were talking about.

“You guys are so smart,” I told them.  “I love all your costumes.  Don’t forget to vote on Wednesday”.

“Isn’t voting on Tuesday?”

“Yah, but they have it on Wednesday too, because of Halloween and everyone is going to be so tired.”

“That’s really cool of them.  I’ll go on Wednesday,” Che said, and I hoped he meant it, though I really don’t think any of these clowns was intending to vote anyway.

And I’m not even surprised that he didn’t take the time to learn who he was dressing up as before he went out on Halloween.

He just recreated what he saw on a “super cool tee shirt” he bought while in college.  This was about him, a 25 or so year old guy, reminiscing about being 18 and excited about leaving home and scoping out frat guys on the quad as they played hackey sack all day…wishing he was that hackey sack tucked into their basketball shorts during class, all warm and toasty, waiting to be played with later.

This was not about Che Guevara or any support for him or what he did — whatever that does, no one knows or seems to care.  It was just about an image he saw a lot while in school that has no meaning to him other than that it reminds him of being in college.

Which is hilarious and sad at the same time.

And very typical for Boystown, to be honest.

Brace yourselves for the irrational, hate-filled attacks from the Left tomorrow

Posted at November 1, 2010 by HillBuzz // Hillbuzz

Yesterday, we ran a piece about the entertainment site AintItCoolNews.com insisting only 87,000 people attended the Restoring Honor Rally that Glenn Beck held in Washington…and that Jon Stewart drew “twice as many people” because the Tea Party “is a fringe group” that needs to be mocked and not taken seriously.

While walking around canvassing yesterday on Halloween, I spotted two gay guys, at different times, wearing tee shirts that mocked the Tea Party.  They had tea bags on their heads, and attached to their bodies, and on the shirts they wrote something like “Deer Amrekia, Me not want healthamacare. Me ignant and dumb.  Me Tee Partee and am stoopid”.

Seriously.

This was the best they could come up with to mock a grassroots movement that’s a terror to not just the Left, but to the Cocktail Party GOP establishment as well.  Tee shirts, written on with markers, and tea bags on their heads.  They got absolutely no positive reaction from anyone I saw around them…but I did hear a woman — in the Boystown neighborhood of Chicago no less — who was dressed up like Wonder Woman shout “Democrats are like diarrhea.  It all stinks!” at those guys.

The news media has been trying to pummel Glenn Beck, Governor Palin, Jan Brewer, Christine O’Donnell, Joe Miller, Nikki Haley, and everyone else who is Tea Party supported, and who supports the Tea Party movement as well.

It’s not working…because every day more and more Americans realize they want smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and an end to Democrats’ drunken, reckless, future destroying spending.

If Wonder Woman in Chicago is shouting about Democrats being “diarrhea” and two guys dressing up to make fun of Tea Partiers fail to get the “Yah!  We hate them too!” responses they desired, then Democrats are in for one Hell of a stunning surprise tomorrow.

They have no idea what a fringe minority they have become in the Left, and just how many tens of millions of Americans have woken up and see the Democrat Party for the Marxist mess it’s become.

I referenced the AintItCoolNews piece because over at that site, the Leftists who go there to talk about movies and occasionally engage in politics, have no clue what’s happening tomorrow.  They have been making fun of the Tea Party movement, have been vociferously attacking Governor Palin, and have been wishing death on Glenn Beck for so long that they believe the majority of Americans think like them and that Democrats will prevail tomorrow — because they have the backing of the Ivy League big-thinkers, the Lincoln Park hipsters, the Austin-based basement dwellers and Hot Pockets snackers.

When Democrats receive a beatdown larger than anything the polls are showing — because I believe the pollsters have no idea just how much Americans have grown to actively hate the Democrats and see them as the manifestation of the Marxist Left in our government — all Hell is going to break loose in the ranks of the Hot Pockets eaters in their basements.

They will have no idea how to process those feelings:  betrayal that Obama failed them when he was supposed to be their messiah; incomprehension over the fact they believe they are so right about everything and that Obama is wonderful and yet Americans are going to humiliate this “living god” tomorrow unlike anything we have seen in modern times; anger they have lost so much after all that gloating in 2008 declaring themselves to be masters of the universe and in complete control of this country.

These people are going to lash out.

I was tipped off that the Washington Post is doing some nasty story about conservatives, and that I’m going to be hit in that piece…for doing things like encouraging you to use Organizing for America’s phone system against Democrats and for pumping everyone up to keep voting for Bristol Palin every week on Dancing with the Stars (for some reason, this really makes the Left mad, that Palin supporters work hard each week to keep Bristol in the show while they can’t figure out a way to vote AGAINST Bristol to boot her off).

I take great personal joy out of driving the Left absolutely insane.  I have openly declared that my goal in life is to burn the Democrat Party to the ground and drive a stake through the Left’s heart.  It’s on like Donkey Kong up in here, and it’s going to stay that way as long as there’s breath in my body.  I will teach conservatives every trick I can think of for taking down the Left and decimating the Obama-controlled Democrat Party.  I am not even going to take a breather on November 3rd…because that’s the day I am going to start pushing efforts for 2012, and doing everything I can to help Governor Palin defeat the Cocktail Party GOP establishment that has been the Democrats’ enabler and bestie for all these many years.

So, I’m now a visible target.  HB is going to take fire from the Left tomorrow and the next day, as the Left looks for someone to punish for their losses.  They are going to scratch, claw, bite, and howl like they’ve never done before.

If you have been a regular reader, you know that on January 20th of this year, the day after Hottie McAwesome won in Massachusetts, Daily Kos, DemocraticUnderground, and the rest of the Soros Squad took direct aim at me personally to punish me for coming out as a conservative and helping take “the Kennedy seat” away from the Democrats.

Well, that was just one race.  We’ve been helping all sorts of great conservatives bring a major smackdown to bad Democrats all across the country…and when Christine O’Donnell and Joel Pollak win tomorrow, and we think they will, the Left is going to hit us hard for being part of the efforts to burn the Democrat Party to the ground in this way.

So, just expect an influx in troll nastiness.  Much of it will get stopped by the spam filters, but we’re going to need you to have our backs in the thread comments.  You all know how to spot trolls, eeyores, and other oddities and call them out on their agendas.  As the Left launches sustained attacks, we’re going to need you to smack them back, because we can’t be everywhere at once.

I am more than happy to take whatever these people direct at me — because I will report on all of it and continue to show Americans just how vile, despicable, and nasty the Left is…and just how badly the Democrats behave when they don’t get their way.

The way I see it, every time these people lash out at Americans like us for speaking our minds and proudly espousing conservatism, the Left alienates more voters who never want anything to do with a party that condones such behavior.  The folks at AintItCoolNews and other Leftist sites, in and outside of the political realm, don’t realize this…but their nastiness, vile attacks, and general behavior cost Democrats a great many votes.

So, keep it up, trolls.  Keep the attacks coming.  You only end up hurting yourselves.

So, bring it.

But just know somewhere in your brain that you brought all of this upon yourself.  Every Tea Party member you ridiculed is someone who committed to voting against Democrats for the rest of their lives.  Everyone you called a RAAACIST! for not supporting what Obama and Democrats are doing to this country is now an activist who is dedicated to bringing the Democrat Party down for those personal attacks.  Every former Democrat Donna Brazile, Howard Dean, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi claimed wasn’t needed anymore because the party could function with just “blacks, urban elite, college towns, young voters, amnesty-seeking Hispanics, low information gays, and self-hating Jews” is now an Independent or even a Republican who is now using everything they know about the inner workings of the DNC to burn the party to the ground and make sure it never rises again.

The Left did this to itself.

The Democrat Party did this to itself.

Tomorrow, they will lash out at more people, behave terribly, and alienate scores and scores of more people who will then join the Tea Party and continue to work against Democrats.

Just watch.

It’s what happened to us in 2008.

It’s what happened to a lot of you who read us.

It’s happening all over.

And it is the Democrats’ own damn fault…so never let them forget that.

A Note About the Dreaded "Spam Gremlin"

Posted at November 1, 2010 by eric4hb // Hillbuzz

Last night I went through the spam filter and read well over 200 messages. A few of you voiced concerns about your messages getting trapped by the spam gremlin. I understand your pain as it has happened to me many times. But please note that we have virtually zero granular control over how the spam filter functions. WordPress has this magical formula that traps messages for no good reason and we can’t really change that unless we turn the thing off completely, and if we did that then this place would turn into a giant spam fest. Also, sometimes WordPress just swallows entire posts that never show up at all.

I have looked and looked for ways to improve or tweak the WordPress spam filter, but there just aren’t any. So, unfortunately, we are stuck with it until we can move the site to its own server.

We will continue to monitor the spam filter as often as we can and try to get all your trapped posts out into freedom as quickly as possible. But please remember that we aren’t trapping your posts on purpose, and we only have limited hours in the day. The spam filter fills up continuously throughout the day. I’d say about one new message every 5 seconds. It’s physically impossible for us to stay absolutely on top of it 24×7.

I know exactly how frustrating it is to have a long or insightful post not show up for hours, but we are honestly doing our best.

Here are a few tips to avoid getting filtered, or to help us identify you as a legitimate poster quickly:

1) Get a Gravatar. We have posted about this if you need help. Gravatars help us identify real people quickly, and after time we will start to recognize your name and Gravatar and approve you without having to analyze your post.

2) Keep your links down. Try to limit yourself to 1 or 2 links. 3 or more links almost always gets you filtered.

3) Keep it PG. This should go without saying since we like a relatively civil exchange, but “bad words” are usually tagged by the filter.

4) Avoid walls of text. Very long posts often get tagged by the filter, and lots of text with no paragraph breaks also tend to get tagged. This is not to discourage you from writing long posts — we like thorough analysis here — but if you can be more concise then you might not get filtered. Also, breaking your post into paragraphs helps us analyze your post quicker if it does get filtered.

5) Avoid using quotes (single quotes [ ' ] or double quotes [ " ]). OK this one sucks because I like to quote all the time, but lately I have noticed A LOT of comments getting filtered to spam by regular posters with absolutely zero indication as to why they would be filtered. Right this very moment there are at least 8 in the spam queue that are like this. What do they have in common? Quotes. I’m not saying never use them again, but just note that if you do, your post might be filtered so please have patience if you don’t see it right away.

Bristol Palin Dancing With the Stars Week Seven Watch Thread

Posted at November 1, 2010 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz

Call in number: 1-800-868-3407

Don’t forget in the heat of the election that you need to call in to support Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars tonight.

The call in number is:  1-800-868-3407

You also need to vote for Bristol online at:  www.abc.com at the Dancing with the Stars page.

Exhaust the amount of times you are allowed to call on the phone and vote as many times as possible for Bristol on the computer.

It’s important to keep Bristol in the race as long as possible — not just because it’s a nice thing to do for a young woman who deserves this time in the spotlight, but also because it’s driving the Left crazy that Bristol keeps getting such strong support from her fans and Governor Palin’s supporters.

So, keep calling and voting online for Bristol!

Monday Open Thread: November 1st, 2010

Posted at November 1, 2010 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz

I’m in the field all day today campaigning against Jan Schakowsky, so I don’t know how many posts I’ll be able to do until later in the evening when I take a break.  I might not even take a break — that’s how much I want this woman defeated.  That’s how much I believe in this particular race…and the larger effort to bring every pompous, aristocratic, entitled, tone-deaf Democrat down tomorrow.

On the TV show “The Amazing Race”, after contestants have flown around the world and worked nonstop on various stunts, they inevitably reach a point where they get “killer fatigue”, when their bodies just give up on them because they have been at a sustained effort nonstop for too long.

I’m reaching that point.  My body hurts from carrying backpacks full of palm cards around town and walking up and down streets for blocks and blocks passing them out.  It’s cold here in Chicago, so I can feel I’m getting sick and will probably get hit with something tomorrow or a few days after the election, when my body finally gives out.  I’m tired.  I’m sleepy. And I feel like I’ve been up for about three weeks straight…but I am going to push hard until the end because I refuse to face a reality where Schakowsky won by just 2-3% and would have lost if people had done more against her.

I tell you all this so that you can think about — today and tomorrow — what YOU can do to help good candidates in your area beat bad Democrats.  Don’t think the election season is over tonight.  It’s not.

GOTV efforts are needed tomorrow.

I know whenever I ask you to support one candidate over another, and dedidcate yourselves to that race, dozens of you pop up with “but what about so and so?”  and “what about this other person?” and soon you take the list of people I’m supposed to personally go all-in for up to a hundred.  I just can’t do that.  Not even with the combined efforts of everyone here at Buzzquarters and all of our personal friends can I do that.

This is something conservatives seem to have a really hard time grasping:  the concept of focus and directed energy.  I think energy should be directed to help Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, Linda McMahon in Connecticut, and Joel Pollak in the Chicago-area Congressional race.

Why these three?

Because these are three people I personally have grown to like very, very much.  We need them in Washington.  And before any of you say it, yes, there are many more good people out there we need in Washington.  You can go and make calls for them, get on the ground for them and I say God Bless You for that.

But I am one guy.  We’re one team here at Buzzquarters.  We can’t be everywhere, in every race, between now and tomorrow.  At the close of the campaigns, my personal friends have asked me what I want them to be doing until the end of voting tomorrow.  That was a personal request from people I care about who know how much these races mean to me and want to help direct energy where I want it to go.

I’ve told my friends I want them to make calls for Christine O’Donnell, Linda McMahon, and Joel Pollak.

I’ve also told them that if they give up their today and tomorrow to do this, that I don’t expect to get a Christmas or birthday present, or even so much as a card, because this would be an immense personal gift to me — to give up their time to help Christine O’Donnell, Linda McMahon, and Joel Pollak.

I’d like to ask all of you to do this too — but for those of you who say “but what about so and so?” then don’t waste time in this thread playing that game…instead get on the phone and start phonebanking for “so and so” if you care about them so much.

Additionally, and I hate to have to keep repeating this time and again, but please stop complaining in comments about “word press gremlins” eating comments or how upset you are that something you commented on isn’t posting. It’s such an energy drain to pop in and read this — and it’s usually the same people who keep doing that over and over again but ignore me when I say how counterproductive it is.

WordPress is very flawed.  For whatever reason, some people end up in the spam filter.  I don’t know why.  There is nothing I can do to stop that.  Currently, I have everyone I know working in the field to push Jan Schakowsky out of Congress.  There is no one in Buzzquarters sitting at a computer through tomorrow night to free anything out of spam queue.  We just don’t have the time or manpower to do that.

So, you are going to just have to deal with your comment not posting right away.  There is nothing that can be done about it.

I would love it if the “wordpress gremlin” business ended because I am tired of hearing that complaining about something I can’t control.

We can’t afford that sort of negativity when we’re all running on empty working hard in this final push…your complaining about WP gremlins might not register as detrimental to you, but when I log into the site I have to see that garbage…and when I see it, it does take my energy level down and I sigh “here’s that crap again”.

I’m asking you not to do this anymore…forever ideally but at least through tomorrow night so I can put everything I’ve got into the election, and not waste any of it listening to that “gremlins” stuff.

Please use this thread to post updates on what’s happening nationally and in your local races.  Keep sending us GROUND REPORTS for your state.  I will get to posting all of them tonight when I get home…I will work all through the night to get every last one that was sent to us posted.  It takes longer than you would think to do this, because every email provider seems to make copied text post differently in WP and I often have to spend a few minutes on each one getting it to look readable and consistent as a post.

But I will get to all of them after I’m home from canvassing late tonight.  Keep sending them.  I’d like one for every state.
