Real Democrats in Congress Ad from GOProud
This is what we keep telling you the GOP needs to do — blend what’s popular in pop culture into politics so that a conservative message can hit the Democrats in a way that regular, television watching Americans will listen to.
This ad is fluff — in a good way. It makes people remember some of the arrogant and unattractive things Barney Frank, Barbara Boxer, and Nancy Pelosi have said in recent years.
The ad’s not a touchdown, but it’s a base hit or a scrum or something.
Hey, we’re gay too, so we get lost in the sports analogies.
So, we guess it’s like playing the GLEE version of “Get Happy” at Sidetrack on Showtunes night when the crowd really wants to hear the Barbara/Judy original — good, but just shy of great.
NEW MEXICO GROUND REPORT
Dear HillBuzz:
Greetings from the Land of Enchantment, which is New Mexico’s nickname. On the ground here, I can report that New Mexico appears to be swinging back to becoming red again, after two years of Obama. In 2008, I saw Obama bumperstickers on cars every day, even in Spanish. But now I see one or two perhaps once a week, and recently I’ve been seeing some “Impeach Obama” bumperstickers.
Right now, I’ve been phone banking for Susana Martinez and other Republican candidates for the election, and Susana is leading her opponent, Diane Denish, by 8-12 points, according to various polls. If she wins, Susana will be the first Hispanic American woman governor in US history. We’re excited about her because Susana is a true conservative and she is also peeling away Democrat support, with 25% of Democrats polled voting for her. From the phone calls I made, many Democrats say they’re voting for her because they are fed up with Democrat corruption and spending. I talk to young people who can’t find jobs and are disenchanted with Obama, who broke his promises. One Democrat lady I spoke with said that while she’s a teacher and supports unions, she is voting for Susana because her husband can’t find work in construction because all the illegals are working for lower wages in that industry. We even have registered Democrats coming into the headquarters to phone bank with us. They are all Hispanic ladies who were born into Democrat families, but have left the “plantation” because they are worried about their children’s future with the spending and are also pro life and have realized that the Democrat Party has become the party of death. One lady told me that she left the party because her husband is a cop and she thinks the Democrat party doesn’t give a darn about cop’s lives since they don’t want the death penalty for cop killers. I don’t know if anyone in other states who phone banks have had this trouble, but there sure are a lot of “wrong numbers” and deceased people in the list of registered voters, telling me that ACORN was probably involved in a lots of voter fraud here. There needs to be a major clean up of the databanks of registered voters because lots of dead people and wrong numbers abound.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the New Mexico Right to Life Committee has been aggressively promoting pro life candidates (99% of which are Republicans) in Hispanic areas. I didn’t see this kind of push in 2008, but it seems that they are fired up since Obamacare passed. Our parish and our Archbishop have been focused on pro life issues, telling us that as Christians we should vote for candidates who respect the right to life above all else.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that most of the Democrat candidates are hiding their affiliation. Their flyers and signs don’t indicate what party they belong to, which tells me that they KNOW that being Democrat is a liability right now. In my phone banking, when I run across an undecided voter, all I have to bring up is whether or not that candidate voted with Nancy Pelosi’s agenda and that swings them to the Republican side. Nancy Pelosi’s name is dirt around these parts. All of my family is Republican, so not much changing there, but I do have a few friends who are Democrat voters and they are mighty quiet about this election. In 2008, they proudly wore Obama buttons and bumperstickers, but I’ve not seen any of that in the past year or so. They almost seem embarassed now, and don’t want to talk politics. I don’t think many of them are planning to vote this election, which is fine by me! Unfortunately, the Democrat incumbent congressman in my district, Martin Heinrich, still leads the Republican candidate, Jon Barela, who is pretty conservative, but is weak on illegal immigration, which is the major complaint I hear from those registered GOP voters who aren’t excited about him. If only Barela would take a stand, but it seems that he is afraid of offending Hispanic voters. Other than that, it seems that New Mexico’s state legislature is going to turn red as well, with all the signage I’ve seen. Speaking of signs, I think it’s interesting that in middle class areas, Susana Martinez signs dominate 10:1. But in Nob Hill, which is the posh, upper class area (as well as UNM dominated), Diane Denish signs dominate. So we can see who is the “cocktail” candidate around here!
In my phone banking, I’ve talked to many people who are fired up and ready to “throw the bums out”, but I’ve also run across too many apathetic voters. And these are registered Republicans! They think that nothing they do will make a difference and that both parties are corrupt. My answer to them is that unless we the people get up and get involved, it will stay that way! I’m part of the Tea Party and the “silent no more” majority and I’m thrilled that we Americans are standing up to big government, but from my calls, I see that there are many, many voters who are still unengaged and brainwashed. We can’t rest on our laurels even if we win, that’s for sure. 2010 will be just the beginning!

MINNESOTA GROUND REPORT
Dear Hillbuzz,
I hesitated to write one of these before because I couldn’t think of much to say, but you guys entertain me so much that I’ll do my best.
I’m from the Twin Cities area in Minnesota.
One of the biggest differences I’m seeing from 2008 is that it seems as though there are a lot fewer campaign signs around (which probably makes sense, seeing as it’s a midterm election), and the ones that there are tend to be for more local and less publically prominant offices. There are way more signs for sheriff or city counsel and things like that than I’ve ever seen before. Also, the number of Obama bumper stickers seems to have gone way down. A lot of the ones I see are on older cars that still have Wellstone stickers (Wellstone’s been dead since 2002), so I’m guessing these are the hardcore Democrats. I also see more Obama stickers in Minneapolis than in St. Paul or the suburbs. However, when it comes to political discussions, I haven’t come across anyone who actually wants to defend him, at least without a huge preface about how they agree this-or-that was a big mistake on Obama’s part.
I’ve been telling my dad since 2009 that Obama isn’t going to get re-elected, and now he’s stopped disagreeing with me. He’s never been an Obama supporter, but back then he still thought Obama had a decent shot at re-election. My grandpa, age 91, is adamant that Obama is the worst president in the history of the country, and said as much to some phone survey person who wanted to know his opinion about the current administration. My grandma is just sick of all the negative campaign ads. My mom and I saw a car accidentally back up against a signpost the other day, which prompted my mom to look at the car’s bumper and say, “Hey, it’s a Tarryl Clark supporter. Figures.”
Pretty much the only campaign issue I hear people discussing with real passion is the economy, and who’s going to create more jobs and who isn’t. My boyfriend, who voted for Obama for no good reason that he could articulate, has pretty much had it with the guy and is starting to pay a lot more attention when I talk about politics. His mom is still pretty oblivious to what the Democrats have been up to and how important it is to have a good grasp of the situation before voting. She says she’s voting for Mark Dayton for governor, “because I don’t think he’s all that smart, but he’s a good person,” whatever the heck that means.
To anybody in MN’s Fourth District: Teresa Collett is my former professor, and while we had a couple of clashes on a personal level (nothing major), I do think she’d be a good Congresswoman. She’s got a take-charge, take-no-prisoners approach to life and is about the last person to yield to pressure. Don’t not vote for her because you don’t know if she’ll accomplish anything in Congress. She’s like the modern, non-violent version of those ancient warlords who’d defeat their enemies and mount their heads on pikes as a warning to others. Not exaggerating.

I am Main Street, I am America
HB Note: Here’s an email we got this evening that’s not a Ground Report, but speaks a lot to what the Left and media keep trying to do, in pounding down regular Americans and dictating to them what they should be thinking and feeling. Well, these elites are misreading what’s happening in the nation…where Americans are standing up to this garbage and fighting back. This is happening all over. If you feel you, too, are “Main Street, are America” then we’d like to hear from you about how this letter resonates with your friends and family wherever you live as well.
Now is the time to express yourselves loud and clearly so that everyone can hear you…if you love America it is not the time to be silent.

Dear HillBuzz,
Global trade is good. But fair trade sacrificed to free trade results in the specter of towering China threatening our economic stability. Turnabout is fair play. American workers know that we cannot be isolationist in our economic policy; we do believe it requires a two way street to promote sustainable growth and competition.
Left and right has become clouded and confused. What does the Constitution say to something such as gay marriage? Does it even address this social issue? The right needs to be guarded in what they assign to Washington to enact. They, in fact, can become the left as they promote governmental interference where it perhaps should not be. And the left needs to remember in kind that the states do have the right to determine any issue not effectively under government influence as assigned by the Constitution. They cannot superimpose their standard on states that resist the ideas of politically expedient conventional wisdom.
Let the double standards be halted. Why does a working Main Streeter pay for health care but an illegal immigrant gets free care? And let the talking heads beware that Main Street is aware of their desire to lump “immigration” and “illegal immigration” into the same category. Do you think your fellow man is stupid? Main Street has no problem with legitimate immigration; they have a huge problem with illegal immigration. Do not twist our words.

UTAH GROUND REPORT
OREGON GROUND REPORT
Dear HillBuzz,
Good morning boys! I found your site when you wrote the letter the GW Bush and have been hooked ever since. This is my first comment/letter.
I live in the 4th Congressional District which until this year was basically a shoe-in for the Democrats. The Republican party has never even come close to beating the incumbant in past years. But this year, the right kind of change is coming! Our candidate Art Robinson was within 6 points as of the last poll. Considering that our area is called the “Berkely of the North”, this is huge! I’m seeing Art Robinson magnetic signs on cars everywhere. If he could beat Peter Defazio in this election, it would send shockwaves. I can tell the Left is getting desperate because they are saying things like, “Robinson wants to put nuclear waste in the foundation of your homes, He wants to abolish public schools, yadda, yadda, yadda.” What we need most now is money for TV ads to counteract the crazy stuff the other side is putting out there. If you can donate even $1.00, it would help. www.artrobinsonforcongress.com.
I have never really let my political views be known until this election cycle. But now I’m one of the vehicles with a magnetic sign on my car. It doesn’t make me very popular at pick up/drop off at my kid’s school, but hey, some of those Mommy’s don’t like me simply because I use plastic sandwich bags for my children’s sandwiches, so it’s reallly no loss. Thanks for all you’ve done for our country.
I can see November from my house!

Jan Schakowsky (wife of convicted felon Robert Creamer) admits to using illegal voter intimidation tactics in Chicago
One of the reasons you are seeing so many Ground Reports from readers across the country in the lead-up to the November election is because we’re spending 6-8 hours a day in the field here in Chicago passing out our palm cards in Jan Schakowsky’s district to ask voters why they keep sending Democrats back into office.
Schakowsky is nervous…and this is the best chance ever to defeat her. I would never be able to live with myself if I didn’t go all-in with everything I had, every day, until November 2nd to make sure I got to as many houses and neighborhoods as possible and asked every last one of Schakowsky’s constituents to stop blindly supporting this woman because she has a (D) — for dunce — after her name.
This video above captures CLASSIC Jan Schakowsky, in all her glory, PROUD of using illegal intimidation tactics on voters to keep them in line with what she wants them to do. She threatens to pull people out of their homes to vote. She will camp out at your door and trespass until you acquiesce to her demands and follow her to the polls.
She has no clue in Hell any of this is wrong.
STUNNING.
No wonder the Justice Department under Eric Holder dropped its voter intimidation case against the Black Panthers…they are just black versions of Jan Schakowsky.
