He does know that was probably one of the best movies of all time, right?
The latest bizarre thing Obama has done happened in Cleveland today, where he, quite hoarse, went off TelePrompTer and told a crowd of dozens that the GOP was surging, like “the empire strikes back”.
The tableau was made all the more bizarre because, at the time, his nipples were taped down with silver gaffers tape, beneath a white polyester form fitting gown, with cinnamon rolls affixed over both giant ears, the gooey white frosting falling in dollops onto his shoulders as he spoke. Backstage, Robert Gibbs stared Hutt-like at those rolls, licking his lips with his gooey moist tongue while Michelle bellowed about something in what could have either been fluent Wookie or passable Klingon. Just like with Mandarin and Cantonese, it’s hard for the uninitiated to tell the difference.
Our illustrious current president knows this is probably one of the best movies ever made, right?
Has he even seen The Empire Strikes back, or was he living in Indonesia or fooling around in Pakistan with that guy when it came out?
Isn’t this one of the DVDs he gave to Gordon Brown last year, in that cheap-o Best Buy “25 Great Movies Collection” that Brown couldn’t even watch because they were Region-One coded and Brown’s DVD player was a British Region Two?
When I was a kid, I had both ETS bedsheets AND pajamas. Truth be told, I wish I still had both, and sometimes I seriously think about taking up camping just so I have a valid excuse to buy THIS. But even I don’t work ETS into random things…especially when the mental imagery it conjures just benefits my opponent.
I’m more befuddled than usual by what this president-and-Lightbringer seeks to accomplish by invoking masterpieces of American cinema in his attacks on conservatives.
There’s a whole generation of us, maybe even two or three generations, that have great affection for this movie to such an extent that the mere mention of it conjures all sorts of positive endorphins.
How does linking Republicans to one of the most positive memories of Reagan-era childhood help Obama and the Democrats?
I can totally guess what happened here though.
I really bet Jon Favreau wrote Obama’s remarks today. I think he’s about 27, is provenly very immature, and is the kind of guy who would still be wearing ETS footie-pajamas today (if not corresponding Underoos).
This is the kind of thing that would make it into a presidential speech if I wrote them — only it would be some kind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer reference, or an obscure nod to MY favorite movie of all time, which is the Kim Cattrall/Andrew McCarthy-rom/com Mannequin.Which had Estelle Getty AND Meshash Taylor from Designing Women in it too (aka, the perfect cast…and another great group Halloween costume for someone out there).
“Democrats are cheap dimestore mannequins that come to life at night to steal money from your purse and give it to lazy union members who then turn around and give it to the DNC. We must be ever vigilant to keep our eyes on them so that they can’t come to life and do this any longer. We must stop the mannequins, particularly the super-sex-crazed ones living in New York obsessed with bad puns”.
It’s not quite a Jon Favreau original, but not every one of us can be such a wunderkind I guess.

PS — the other thing that’s super-weird about using the Empire Strikes Back reference is that the Empire totally won in that movie.
The rebels took devastating casualties.
Remember the AT-ATS, those massive armored walking tanks that fired lasers that blasted the rebels’ shield generators so Dark Vader could land in his shuttle with battalions of troops and overrun the rebels’ home base on the ice planet Hoth?
And then later the Empire captured Han Solo and turned him into a coffee table.
While the charismatic black man in the fancy clothes sold everyone out who believed in him while pursuing a hidden agenda of his own?
Yah, probably not the best movie for Obama to be referencing considering how many Democrat firewalls are collapsing, how Democrats are being overrun in supposedly safe home base districts, and how Obama himself is a charismatic black man in fancy duds who lies all the time and has betrayed just about everyone who believed in him back in 2008.
At least in Mannequin, the effeminate black man with no real talent but a whole lot of charismatic sass didn’t try to destroy anything and ended the movie being still employed and generally well-liked by everyone.
Maybe Favreau should start working THAT movie into his TelePrompTer-broadcast speeches.
MYSTERY: There is definitely something going on no one understands — Inouye is down to just a 13 point lead over unknown challenger in Hawaii
Here’s another poll showing a supposedly rock-solid safe, no chance in Hell of getting booted from office, Democrat polling 20-25% below where he usually polls in re-election bids. This time it’s Inouye in Hawaii…another of Obama’s loudest and strongest supporters.
Here’s what we need help with — it’s like putting together pieces of a puzzle that we keep finding in different rooms of the house. We need to bring this stuff altogether in one place, in this thread.
Can you start adding in comments other recent polls showing Democrats who took their re-elections for granted, in Democrat stronghold cities and states, suddenly finding themselves only leading their opponents by fractions of what they usually steamroll through elections with?
Inouye is an example.
Jan Schakowsky in Chicago is another, where she’s now only leading her opponent Joel Pollak by 18 points (instead of the 45 or so she usually wins her re-elections with).
Something is going on that no one seems to fully understand…and that the media is ignoring.
Our gut instinct is that if we look at all the supposedly rock, solid, “safe” Democrats…the faces of the party who’ve been there forever…and get a good grasp of just how much trouble these icons are in…then we can possibly get a better gauge of how much trouble the second and third tier Democrats are in as well, and maybe get the pulse of how big the November 2nd tsunami will be.
The media seems to be deliberately keeping all this quiet, because if word got out just how much trouble the “safe” Democrats are really in there would be an all-out-doom-and-gloom panic in the Democrat Party that their worst nightmares are all coming true.
What other “safe” Democrats can you think of that are in surprisingly deep trouble right now?

BIZARRE: Obamas campaigning in Cleveland area again today; no president has spent this much time in Cleveland. Not even James Garfield…and he's BURIED there.
The Obamas were in Cleveland campaigning again today.
In CLEVELAND.
This would be like a conservative Republican president that kept coming back to Mobile, Alabama to campaign because his party was doing so poorly in that state. ALABAMA.
Cleveland is a Democrat stronghold.
If Democrats need to keep sending the current president to Cleveland to build some sort of firewall, then Democrats are in worse shape than eve we can imagine.
We’re honestly starting to think the reason the Obamas keep going to cities like Cleveland, or states like Delaware or Massachusetts, is not because they strategically intend to have a positive impact on the race…but because these are the only places left on the map where the Obamas are guaranteed a lukewarm-mildly pleasant welcome.
Those of us from Ohio can’t remember a sitting US president coming to Cleveland this much.
There is now only one US president who has spent more time in Cleveland than Obama…and that’s James Garfield…who is buried in Cleveland.
It’s insane Democrats keep sending the president and vice president to stronghold, not battleground cities.
UNLESS, of course, the strongholds are now the battlegrounds and the entire Democrat Party really is collapsing upon itself.
November 2nd will tell.
Father & Son Team Prove American Spirit: Send their iPhone into space
Americans are exceptional.
Why?
Because they do things like the above.
It’s just in American DNA to push the envelop, be creative, find solutions to problems, and do very cool things.
The video above is footage from “The Brooklyn Space Program”, where a father and son teamed up to send their iPhone into space on a weather balloon to record the trip up into the sky and photograph the Earth from 19 miles up.
They did this with things you can buy at the Home Depot and the craft store.
It is better than anything Islam has done in the realm of science for the last, oh, the entire existence of Islam.
And yet, our current president has slashed NASA’s funding and charged the American space agency with reaching out to Muslims so that Islam can have a foothold in space. Meanwhile, a man and his child in Brooklyn accomplished more as amateurs than Islam has ever done in the area of space exploration.
Why?
Because these two were actually engaged in science, and not memorizing the Koran all day, plotting to kill people, or being upset by cartoons somewhere.
The Obama administration will end in 2013. NASA will then be able to get back to its mission. Islam will not be so aggressively promoted from the White House.
Meanwhile, fathers and sons like this — exceptional Americans — will continue to excel in being creative and ingenious, doing remarkable things with limited resources, and proving time and time again that Americans are truly the greatest people on the planet.
They just are.
Seriously — a weather balloon…sent to space…with an iPhone in it…recording the flight and photographing the entire planet from above.
Give us one thing a Muslim father and son team has ever done to match that.
DISCUSSION: What's the real net-gain for the White House in campaigning in Delaware and Massachusetts if they really believe Democrats are ahead there?
Here’s something almost everyone does that’s inherently flawed thinking: we assign a level of omnipotence and wisdom to elected officials and the government that’s undeserved.
We often assume these people know things we don’t, because they have access to the vast resources of the federal government.
What we often forget is that these are still just people, able only to absorb and grasp as much information as the rest of us, and they make flawed decisions based on that information. Ironically enough, they institutionalize and replicate these bad decisions more than regular people because government officials with high titles have entire staffs of yes-people around them who never question the flawed decisions and instead set out to find information that bolsters whatever incorrect assumptions the person in charge has made.
That’s pretty much the epithet for the Obama Administration right there.
SOMEONE in the White House has been insisting that Obama and Biden campaign in places like Delaware and Massachusetts, when those states are supposed to be unassailable Democrat territory.
The question of the day is: WHY?
Some of you have been floating theories that Obama wants to campaign in places where he believes Democrats will win so that he does not look as foolish as he did when Democrats lost the governorships in New Jersey and Virginia and Scott Brown took back “the Kennedy seat” in Massachusetts.
The theory is that he can then say “see, I made a difference! Commie Coons and Deval Patrick won! I’m still the Lightbringer!”.
This really makes no sense to us here at HB because these two races are not enough for Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper, and the other Obama shills on TV to crow about.
Really?
The president is taking credit for Coons defeating O’Donnell?
Really?
That’s the BEST he could do on November 2nd?
Really?
Even if O’Donnell loses, we just don’t see this as a big win for the White House on a night that Democrats are going to be beaten to a pulp. Not even MSNBC can realistically focus on Delaware and Massachusetts races and claim Obama saved the day there, while Democrats lost the rest of the country.
And we don’t believe Obama actually helps any candidate he campaigns for…and the races in Delaware and Massachusetts have, in our opinion, a very good chance of being won by Republicans.
So, we wonder what’s really going on with the White House and whoever is setting the campaign schedule for Obama and Biden. They’re campaigning in places that should be lockstep Democrat voting, and after they leave town Republican seem to gain, not lose, ground in those races.
What’s your take on all of this?

UPDATE: We just realized something else that would be interesting to do with this calling tool that maybe no one has ever thought of.
The Obama calling tool gives you people’s names, phone numbers, ages, etc.
What if you really did call these people — but instead of talking about whatever Obama wanted you to, you just gave them a heads up that because they donated to Obama and Democrats their personal information was put onto the Internet for anyone to find like this.
You can tell them that they should now be concerned with identity theft because Democrats have published their private information on the Internet.
Say you felt the need to let them know they were exposed like this because you have heard what a nightmare identity theft can be.
How much would you want to bet that getting a call like this would not only make someone less likely to vote Democrat, but would also probably prompt them to call up the DNC or their local party office and give them an earful about this…and that will take up those people’s time handling these calls instead of working on things for the November election.
If you try this, post your results in the thread…but we think this could be a great way to REALLY amp up the mischief with this Obama calling tool.

Conservatives have a hard time committing mischief because they always say “that’s wrong”.
This is, in part, why conservatives lose so many elections…because the Left lives and breathes Alinsky tactics far beyond mischief. Like, oh, voter fraud, intimidation, election tampering, etc.
Here’s something you can do to throw the Left off their game in the lead-up to the November election and you don’t even have to leave your home to do it. It’s FREE, easy, and actually kind of fun.
Obama’s Organizing for America has a phone bank setup where the Obama cultists are supposed to call people to remind them to vote, and vote OBAMA!, in the midterms.

The way the system is set-up, the computer doesn’t know whether you actually called these people or not. It just gives you a number and then asks you to fill out a little form registering that person’s support.
Our thinking is that if you fill out this form saying you called someone, write down they are a supporter, then that person most likely won’t be called again by anyone else.
Therefore, you would essentially take someone off the Democrats’ call lists every time you say you called one of these people and they committed to voting OBAMA! in the midterms.
We don’t know how sophisticated their calling system is, so to make sure the ruse actually works, here’s what we would suggest to keep in mind:
* The system could not your IP address and could keep track of how many calls you “make” in a day and the times you “made” them…so we’d advise taking your time filling these things out so that it appears there’s enough of a time gap between each one you submit that you are actually getting a voter on the phone, talking to them briefly, and then recording the call.
* The Obama tech people might be smart enough to be able to throwout “calls” that keep coming in much too fast for them to be a real caller making real calls…so try to space these out so they seem legit
* Vary your responses a little so that you aren’t filling out the form in exactly the same way every time. Once again, they might have an alogrithm written to catch this. It is impossible for someone to submit the same responses 100 times, for instance, with no variation so if they do note IP addresses we bet a computer could auto-disregard everything coming from the same IP address that’s submitted if the results keep coming in suspiciously the same.
The above link is just for a race in North Carolina, but it would be strategic to find links to Obama phone operations like this for the following races as well:

If mischief is up your alley, why not put that inkling to good use by making Democrats think they have more support than they really do, so they don’t put any last minute resources into these races and instead waste their time elsewhere so we can tip the scales here and there wherever we can?
What are you willing to sacrifice to hit the Left as hard as we can on Election Day?
I’ve been thinking about what I want to dress up as for Halloween — which is a very big deal here in Boystown where I live. It is, in fact, my absolute favorite holiday. I love everything about it: the pumpkin raviolis, soup, chai tea, and pie on the menu everywhere; the leaves turning all sorts of crazy colors; the parties, costumes, and good times. I actually look forward to October all year, because I’m so excited to see what creative things people put together for their Halloween outfits — and always try to rise to that challenge myself with something elaborate and creative.
I actually save up all year for Halloween, so that I can do something original and unique for my costume. I typically start work on it in the summer, at least by the beginning of August, because I take it that seriously. This year, however, I just never got around to thinking up anything fun for a costume because I’ve been so focused on the upcoming midterm elections…and our collective chance to deliver a massive smackdown to the Left at the ballot box.
So, I never started work on a costume.
Last night, I decided I’m going to use the Halloween money I’ve saved up to do what I can on the ground to help Joel Pollak defeat Jan Schakowsky here in Chicago — and remove one of Obama’s strongest, loudest, and most abrasive allies from Congress. Schakowsky is terrified because she’s only ahead of Pollak by 18 points when normally she creams her “also-ran” opponent by 40 points or more. If Pollak is indeed THIS CLOSE, I’d never live with myself if I didn’t go all-in with everything I had to tip the scales further against her.
I read an article the other day about Queen Elizabeth canceling Christmas at Buckingham Palace because she didn’t think it was appropriate to spend money on a big party when so many people in Britain were suffering in the Obamaconomy. It’s going to be a austere holiday season for everyone.
I save up each year for Christmas and New Year’s too, because I love those holidays as well…but the more I think about it, the more I realize that I can live with not having any holiday fun this year and instead put those resources towards the last remaining days before the midterm elections. If I go all-in against Jan Schakowsky, I’ll have to get a Zip car to do canvassing every day, print the materials I want to pass out, and do whatever else it takes to work every angle I can think of to reach as many voters here in Chicago as possible to defeat this terrible person.
So, I made the decision last night to put everything I was saving up for Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s, and Oscar Night events (another big deal here in Boystown) into the homestretch for the midterms. I can recycle something from past years for Halloween, and I can skip all the big ticketed parties for the holidays and look forward to them next year instead.
America’s worth whatever sacrifice we can each individually make for it. I know for a fact Democrats are petrified about the upcoming elections. Their only hope is that regular Americans become complacent and don’t go all-in to defeat them. They are in triage mode now, hoping to limit their losses with various fire walls. I want to do my all to make sure even people like Schakowsky, who believes she’s safe in blue territory far beyond any such fire walls, is also wiped out by the patriotic tsunami coming to take down the Left.
I’ve talked some of my friends into giving up their Halloween costume funds and other holiday savings to do this as well, and together we’ve got about $1,000 pooled that we’ll use on the ground here in Chicago to hit Schakowsky hard — directly, by us, working every day against her. Doing things the actual Pollak campaign probably can’t do, and speaking out as former lifelong Democrats to other Democrats and telling them it’s time to vote this woman out of office for the good of the country.
This means people in my life will be getting little notes at Christmas that read “Instead of a present this year, I put everything into defeating Jan Schakowsky. You’re welcome. I thought of you while I was doing this. Merry Christmas!”.
I believe that note will be accompanied with a news clipping of Schakowsky’s face, plastered with horror, on election night when the results roll in showing Pollak taking back that seat for the people of Illinois.
I’m not asking you to go to our extremes here at HB. But, I do want to ask you to give up some of your free time for the next two weeks and change. Please don’t go to any movies…don’t go on any trips…don’t take long naps or do whatever else you do that you may love, but that takes up your non-working hours.
It’s going to most definitely suck — but you’re needed to phone bank, to canvass, and to energize as many voters as you can to get out there and defeat the Left at the ballot box.
This is going to take a lot of work here at HB, but in the next few days I’m going to put together little cards you can print out at home, at Kinko’s, or at printers in your neighborhoods. This is an idea I’ve had for a while that I know will be effective: business card-sized little information cards that you can leave in grocery store aisles, in empty lockers at your gym, on bus seats, on people’s doorsteps in your neighborhoods, everywhere you go…little cards that will catch people’s attention that will have facts about what Democrats have done to the country while in office.
I’d like to create these two-sided, with one side being a consistent reminder of the damage the Left has done in the last two years, and the reverse being something that promotes people like Pollak, or Fenn Little in Georgia, Christine O’Donnell in Delaware, Allen West in Florida, Carly Fiorina in California, etc.
This way, you can print out cards that apply to your state…as many of them as I can make (but starting with the six races I can actually focus on here in Chicago). There’s no reason you can’t take my template and adjust it for wherever you live and go out and do this too.
Print as many of these things as you can afford to print out. And then hit the streets leaving them anonymously wherever you can. In the library. Around nursing homes. In the slots of a chain link fence somewhere that parents on their way to drop their kids off at school will find them. On car windshields parked up and down the streets. Everywhere.
There is no one else to do this but you.
“They” don’t exist…the magical “they” in the “they should do this” or “they need to start that”.
You — and it might come as a shock — are THEY.
For tomorrow, I want to work on getting the phone bank information up for the races I think we can really make a difference in, so that people who aren’t mobile and able to print out these cards can do something meaningful for the midterms as well. Phone banking is tough. It’s no fun. It must be done and there is no “they” that will do it if it’s not you.
So, those are my two ideas for what YOU can physically do in the next two weeks to punch the Left square in the face:
(1) Print and distribute information cards that wake voters up to what the Left has been up to
(2) Phone bank from home for candidates that have a real shot at taking down entrenched Leftists who’ve held their seats for decades
Anything you can do will help.
I love that you come here every day to read about politics. I love that you are more informed than 99% of the general population. But reading about politics and being upset by what the Left has been up to is not enough — you need to take that next step into activism. It can be a small step like phone banking. It can be a bigger and bolder step like becoming one of the mysterious people leaving all those anti-Leftist cards everywhere around your town. But you need to take one of those two steps. For the next two weeks, you need to answer this call that’s being put personally to you — to get involved in this election. It’s scary. I’m sure you’ve never done anything like this before. But, you can’t depend on others to do this.
You also can’t think “I can’t make a difference” because you can.
Democrats rely on the unions, on ACORN, on the Black Panthers, and other corrupt organizations that pay people to be thugs and warm bodies out there on the streets and on the phones for them. These people are generally passion-less, but show up for the doughnuts, coffee, or whatever else they were promised to get them there.
I believe a passionate, committed, energetic conservative is worth two or three of the people the unions provide the Democrats as foot soldiers.
You, by getting off your butt from the comfy couch, can cost the Democrats manpower. YOU will cost the Left money because for every one of you who, for the first time in your adult lives, got motivated enough to get your hands dirty in an election, Democrats will need to hire two or three people to counter you.
You getting up from your couch costs the Democrats resources.
The more resources we cost them, the bigger the tsunami will be on November 2nd.
I think this election is historic. The media claims every election is historic, but this time it’s for real. I can live with the thought of having an austere holiday season and forgoing all the parties and fun I usually have because I know I will not be able to live with myself November 3rd if people I support came CLOSE but didn’t defeat monsters like Jan Schakowsky when there was a chance to finally remove this person from Congress. So, it’s worth what I put aside for Halloween, Christmas, New Year’s, and Oscar Night. It’s honestly worth eating mac & cheese every night from now through February if it means I can squeeze everything I can to doing my part to hitting the Left hard.
I think about all the things people have sacrificed through the years for America, and I’ve asked myself what I can do, personally, and what I can give up in the next few weeks to contribute as much as I can to Liberty’s cause.
I ask you to spend today thinking about what you can do…and the sacrifices you too can make when America needs you.
